Little kitchen, small dining area and back door with a patio table surrounded by beautiful redwoods! The pictures online do this cute little place no favors!!!! Would definitely stay here again (all while I haven't actually slept here yet ) we also walked down to Martha's Kitchen and not only was the food DELICIOUS the waitress was also so sweet and attentive! We might have just found the sweetest little place to land while we're here for a wedding. ****edit to add after sleeping there 2 nights, the main road is semi close so obviously you'll hear some car sounds. Mostly in the early morning. They do provide ear plugs I didn't use them and after the first night it didn't really bother me much. As do be expected with that main road there. Our virtual tour with Rachel made us fall in love with the venue; Kevin and Karen worked with us to make our budget work, Joe gave us a wonderful tour when we returned after booking; and Ashleigh patiently answered all of my questions--no matter how late I sent them. The venue itself feels like something out of a storybook. Every one of our guests raved about the beautiful setting, the accommodations, the incredible staff, the ceremony site, and even the fact that there wasn't a restrictive noise ordinance. Everything exceeded our expectations. Not a day has gone by since our wedding that I haven't said, "I wish I could do it all over again." I searched forest wedding and Twenty Mile House was the very first one that came up. I loved that it wasn't too far of a drive away, the all inclusive packages and the accomodation option to stay on site for me and 53 of our guests. We had compared prices to similar venues but found it ridiculous that for the same price, we would only have the venue, tables and chairs at the other places. So with that, Twenty Mile House became the winner. We absolutely loved the vintage cozy look of the homes, the miles and miles of forestation leading up to and within the venue, and the most amazing staff i have ever experienced with. Both Rachel and Ashliegh were absolutely amazing! They both listened and made all of my requests come true. Some had to be compromised, but it didn't change much of my vision. Our bartender Jasper was absolutely amazing and so kind. The lights, the vibe, the music, all of the vendors... they all worked together like a well oiled machine and made every wedding planning moment up to the wedding day absolutely perfect. I'm a chill bride and solely trusted the vendors and Ashliegh on their skills and talent. I'd be lying if I wasn't nervous at times, but said yes when they said "trust us". They absolutely delivered! The cake was exactly how I'd envisioned it and was so delicious, the food was a huge hit for my husband and I and our guests (I wanted to takr home the meatballs and freeze them), the DJ was perfection, the florals were immaculate (more than what i had expected), and the photographer Rachelle was sooo kind and made our little awkward selves so comfortable. We had hired a non preferred videographer for our day but both Rachelle and Ashliegh worked well with them. Thank you Twenty Mile House for making our dream wedding a reality! The staff was amazing, from the venue tour to booking, helping with any and everything the day of and just all around amazing people that work there. They cooked breakfast for our whole crew both mornings and there was not one complaint from any of our guests. Lots of drink options which I love, they have coffee, orange juice, a huge variety of tea, milk, something for everybody. The day went on without one issue, I am very type A and their response time was amazing throughout the whole process and especially on day of! I can't recommend this place enough. We also went back and stayed the night on our one year anniversary and it was covered in snow, absolutely beautiful! We were sad that Faith, the manager, wasn't there as I feel like we really connected with her last year but Michele was there who was also very kind snd accommodating.

What an incredible stay! We booked last minute to get out of town from the valley and many places…read morein the area were already booked for the weekend. Lucky for us we hit the jack pot and definitely realized after driving by all the other resorts, cabins, and inns that we ended up in the best one. Of all the other places you could tell these cabins had the best views and though close to each other still felt secluded. You have a full view of the meadow and mountains, not just the highway or another property across the road; we even saw a bunch of deer including a big buck! The whole property is also well past a golf corse so you really are tucked away. They are very dog friendly with lots of poop bags and trash cans as well a bag of treats at check in, they even will walk your dog if asked! They have free breakfast and unlike a many places it's not buffet style, they seat you and serve it up just like a typical restaurant breakfast but I wouldn't have minded a bit more variety. We can't wait to come back and stay in another cabin next time, maybe deeper in fall or even after a bit of snow; you can tell this property is breath taking any time of year.

Walking into the house, my girlfriend and I were transported into what felt like snow white's wonderland cabin. The teacups on the ceiling, the wood slab table with pie plates, the velvet couches... there are cozy little details everywhere; the more we looked, the more we were amazed. We were greeted by Priya, the owner of Flume's End who is a one-woman show. Her energy was contagious and I immediately felt at home. She showed us to our room, the Empire Suite, which has a huge bed, a gorgeous bathroom, and its own outside patio balcony. This is an all inclusive experience. Priya likes to leave out cookies for guests as "midnight snacks," and there's hot cocoa and coffee available all day! I can't say enough about the breakfast, which had everything you could ask for. Can we talk about the little parfait cups?!? And the mini egg dishes? I was living in tea party heaven. You can't beat staying at Flume's End. It's a 5 minute walk into downtown, and the backyard is a fairy forest that you can wander around and enjoy day & night. We'll be back!

The property is listed as a B&B on several platforms, the website features breakfast imagery, and the booking form asks for dietary restrictions, so we reasonably assumed breakfast and access to common areas were part of the experience. Instead, Room 2 functions more like a small private room rental with limited access to the house. We were surprised to learn upon arrival that we did not have access to the main house common areas. For us, shared spaces are a major part of what makes staying in a bed and breakfast enjoyable. The room itself was also extremely small. With a queen bed and a twin bed in the room, there was essentially no space to move around comfortably and no seating area at all. For three guests, there was nowhere to sit except on the beds, and simply walking around the room was difficult due to the tight layout. Breakfast was also not served. Two muffins were left for us despite the reservation being for three guests, and despite the booking form asking for dietary restrictions. We have stayed at many bed and breakfasts over the years throughout California--both coastal and wine country--and the experiences we've loved have always included warm hospitality, welcoming hosts, shared spaces to relax in, and memorable breakfasts. The common thread in these stays is that guests are encouraged to enjoy the home itself, interact with hosts, and relax in shared spaces. That sense of hospitality and atmosphere is the reason we choose B&Bs. While the building at The Parsonage is historic, Room 2 itself felt very modern and generic rather than reflecting the character of a historic inn. To be fair, the owners later pointed out that the website includes a detailed description and a floor plan showing the limited access for Room 2. However, we found the wording easy to misinterpret when booking, particularly given the B&B categorization, breakfast imagery on the site, and the dietary restriction field in the booking form. At approximately $280 for the night (including a $50 fee for a third guest), the experience did not match what we personally expect from a bed-and-breakfast stay. This room may work fine for travelers who simply want a small private room and plan to spend most of their time out in town. However, for guests specifically seeking the hospitality, shared spaces, and atmosphere that typically define a bed-and-breakfast experience, Room 2 may not meet those expectations.

Our room had a full sized bed and also a bunk bed. The amount of space was just enough for the 2 of us. The bathroom is a little small, specifically the shower but since we're small people it was fine. Check-in is contactless--they send you info on how to check in and where to park the day before your arrival. I really appreciated how fast they responded to requests and concerns. I texted them twice about a light bulb and also about the door code not working and someone was there to fix both issues within a few minutes. Also, the breakfast spread in the morning was really good! They had a coffee machine, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, granola bars. Situated near Donner Lake, the Inn is perfectly situated to be close to the famous Donner Historic Park (just a few minutes up the freeway) and also the beautiful Donner Lake beach area. There is also a great little pub across the street from the beach area, too. Downtown Truckee is also just a few minutes down the freeway. And, although it wasn't snow season yet, it's also close by the Donner Ski area. The property as some parking spots that are convenient to the lodging rooms. The family run lodge has no-frills style breakfast take-away items - such as boiled eggs, yogurt, granola bars, and also some featured made items (scones and breakfast burritos), but be aware it's available from around 7:30a (and our hikes had us leaving earlier than that). The rooms are "self-check" style, so be prepared to read your follow up communications from the managers w/your check in process. The rooms are simple but clean - featuring a controlled temperature stovepipe style fire place and window seat overlooking the forest behind the lodge. There is also a small stream on one side of the property. All-in-all a great spot that's convenient and less crowded and less-pricey than most spots in the Truckee area and the rooms are quaint and rustic but nice, too.
