We went the Chalet View Lodge for a wedding and it was absolutely gorgeous! The venue is spectacular, the rooms are clean, cozy and come with a nespresso machine which is an added bonus. All the staff were wonderful and accommodating. One downside (which I also completely understand) is not serving wine/beer by the glass in the lobby and only selling full bottles! Overall, a gorgeous and clean venue.

Lady Winter escape of 2023. We had a wonderful time celebrating the New Year - 2024. The rustic cabin was charming and provided a cozy atmosphere. Our schnoodle, Plumette loved the dog friendly walks and accommodations. The lodge's gorgeous location was perfect for sightseeing and nature walks, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the beautiful surroundings. The lodge staff was friendly and accommodating, making our stay even more enjoyable.

We enjoyed our stay!! You can tell they are trying to keep this property up. They family room layout needs some love. Not very comfortable, but maybe thats what they want, not hanging out in the living room. The upstairs had a bad smell and think it was coming from the kitchen below and we didnt have any food there. Overall it is a great property. we explored the Basin Lake area, went to Gray Eagle lodge and Elwell Lodge. Ate at the Iron door (7 out of 10) had a great Breakfast at the Graeagle Meadow golf course (great) I recommend this property but do your research, there are many options.

What a great spot. I did not expect something this clean and nice but I would bring my family here for a trip for sure. I hear they do a lot of weddings, what a fun place for a wedding. A really warm and welcoming place. I came in off the road traveling all the way from new Orleans and was exhausted, what a great place to sleep off a long flight.

My partner and I stayed here for a dear friends wedding and were completely blown away. The wedding was absolutely spectacular and the staff was top notch. The resort itself is magical and the rooms were the perfect balance of rustic modern. Overall the weekend was blissful and we can't wait to come back.

This is by far one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever been to. Pictures are worth a thousand words but my photos do not do this place justice. My roommate and I stayed at the Chalet View Lodge because her friends wedding was coordinated here. Our time here was very short but we received outstanding service from all employers here. They have a Starbucks in the lobby as well as a brewery on site. There's a swimming pool as well. I'm sure this place is even more gorgeous in the winter months. While this place is a bit on the pricier side, it is worth every penny. If you're on the fence about staying here, let this serve as your sign to book this hotel during your vacation. Or, if you're planning an outdoor wedding :)

What a hidden gem, mostly great but a few issues...We've lived in Reno for years and never visited. The good...rooms are up to date, beds super comfortable, amazing kid amenities (pool, pump track, fishing pond, frogs galore, playground, corn hole), gorgeous, tall pine trees all around, very family friendly and dog friendly. Starbucks on site is a nice amenity. Towns of a Blairsden and Portola are quaint and have some neat eateries like Gumbas, Village Bakery and the Wigwam at the Nakoma...The Iron Door is a seasonal restaurant with rave reviews too - we didn't make it there this trip. The cons...because of the fires the smoke was at times nearly unbearable, no internet either which means you are unplugged - including no tv or movies...based on other reviews this is an ongoing issue...months ongoing. Starbucks on site has a few small bites (lemon loaf, cake pops, breakfast sandwich) and the "brewery" has some pre-made plates that are downright outrageous in price for the size and quality - only available 4-8pm. MUST love dogs as the guests sneak them into the pool area, have them off leash and the local dog (adorable) wanders the property. Spa is closed indefinitely. Hot tub also closed off. Our room would've been great for a family with older kids. Ours (3&5) struggled being upstairs from us and the railing they loved teetering over was dangerous. A 2am fall by our 5 year old down the slate stair case in the pitch black sealed the deal we came home a night early. BUT, there are other room set ups. We will be probably try again. Just need to bring some little groceries for the kids and definitely book a different type of room set up or cabin. Our kids had a BLAST, so if we could get sleep and be able to unwind as a family with a movie, we'd be all set!

My wife and I stayed here July 5th and 6th for a little get away. We had driven through the area a few months prior and wanted to explore more. We appreciate the fact that it feels like a true getaway since the environment is much different than living in Reno but its only an hour away!! We also appreciate that the area is much less crowded than Lake Tahoe and its surrounding towns. My wife did a little research and we chose a View King Resort Guest Room for our stay. We arrived shortly before 3pm and our room was ready. The check in process was easy and efficient and we were told our room was located on the end of the Terrace View building. It was a perfect location for us as the brewery was next door with a nice patio area. The room was nice and comfortable and while we really didn't need the upstairs loft area it did make it nice for the additional space. We made ourselves at home and enjoyed having a small outdoor space as well. The mountain air is quite a bit cooler than in Reno but we liked the fact that the room also had air conditioning. The first night we enjoyed having a few drinks and listening to live music on the brewery patio and met some nice folks. The sunset was beautiful and we both said to each other how relaxing and special this place is. The second day we left about mid morning to continue exploring and didn't come back until about 5:30pm. We immediately noticed there were a lot more vehicles and people at the resort this evening but we weren't at all surprised given the fact it was now Friday evening. There is a wedding party here and they were being somewhat noisy but it really quieted down about 9pm when the brewery closed so for us that is very reasonable. We realize we are not 20 anymore but the TV is difficult to navigate and isn't very intuitive. It would also be nice if they were able to offer more channels utilizing a dish or something similar. The resort uses a text system to allow you to communicate your needs. We used it when we could not connect to wifi and it was very efficient. Overall this was a good experience and we would like to come back. Suggestion to management: Interior furnishings are looking worn and are in need of refreshing.

The Hotel couldn't even call to apologize in person?

We were invited to a wedding in Sloat California and decided to make a weekend of it. We also wanted to take our puppy, so we were looking for a pet friendly hotel within a 15 minute drive from the wedding site. We found this hotel on Expedia and they were dog friendly for an extra fee, which was fine. I made a reservation through Expedia on April 23rd. Today, May 14th, I received an email from Chalet View Lodge through Expedia, saying they are overbooked. Lovely! Did it really take three weeks to figure out that they'd be full? So I called and left a message for the manager that canceled my reservation. Alex called back and told me that Expedia has overbooked them, and they just were notified of my reservation today. While he wasn't able to find a room for me, as the wedding I am attending isn't at their property, he was very apologetic. Alex also offered to pay for my stay at another location, but every place within a 30 minute drive of the wedding is already full. The few places I have found that are available and pet friendly are 40+ minutes away. So really his offer, while it sounded great on the phone was nothing but a false promise. If you are planning to stay here, make sure your reservation is actually valid, as using one of the websites they partner with is a crap shoot. Even when you book with a credit card, three weeks ahead of time.

My family and two dogs came here for spring break and it was such a lovely stay! S E R V I C E: Everyone here is nice and super helpful. They gave us a book with all the hikes in the area and were great at giving directions. They were super accommodating to our dogs and they even have dog baggy stations around the whole place. There was something broken in our room, and they let us a choose another room to stay in! You get complimentary beer and there's continental breakfast every morning. R O O M: Cabins were all booked, but we didn't mind because the room that was given to us was beautiful. It was two stories with a couch that turned into a queen bed, and a king bed upstairs. 2 bathrooms and showers (pretty fancy I must say) and there was a balcony where you can read and enjoy the crisp air. L O C A T I O N: It was a bit hard to find the place - the address given to us didn't exactly take us to the entrance. I say we drove up the road about 5 more miles till we actually saw the lodge. It's in a pretty small town, so expect to drive everywhere. There's restaurants scattered around the area and hiking can be done anywhere - unless it's snowing... so rent snowshoes! O V E R A L L: I'd love to come here again maybe during the summer or whenever the snow is completely gone, so I can hike haha. This place would be such a cool place with a big group of friends.

Really cool spot tucked in the beautiful forest of Graeagle, CA. My family stayed here for my brother's wedding, and it was such an awesome place to relax, swim in the pool, chill in the hot tub, play volleyball/ cornhole, make smores, and just be together enjoying nature! It's definitely made for nature lovers, don't forget your bug spray when you're hanging out in the forest at night! But they still have the amenities of being back home in the city - like a full functioning Starbucks and wifi. Initially we couldn't get our wifi to work, but they fixed it right away. The beds were comfy, employees were helpful, and the amenities were excellent. I'm so happy we were able to experience our week at Chalet View Lodge and enjoy the beautiful property with our family and friends.

We read reviews of other campgrounds, and unwelcoming hosts...we're happy we chose Feather River RV Park! The pride of new ownership really shows, these folks are happy you're a guest, and make you feel welcome! This campground offers TONS of family friendly amenities, like a playground, heated pool, onsite laundry room, showers, small general store, game room, and standards like volleyball, horseshoes and tether ball. We camp in a trailer, and sites offered full RV hookups for a very comparable rate. They offer tent sites and rent charming little cabins too! Together with the amenities, this represents a lot of value for families camping with kids! We played games, swam, rode bikes, explored Graeagle and nearby Lake Davis, toasted marshies...yep, privately owned campground still allows campfires! The only -1 star is for the very close proximity to other campsites, and while we didn't know upon booking that a large number of sites are occupied by year-round campsite tenants...we got a less-than-friendly "greeting" from a neighbor that obviously didn't appreciate new campers with kids or music, or another vehicle, even though we were abiding by park rules on vehicle parking and low music volume. The resident campers seemed cliquey, but we didn't let Grumpy Gus ruin our time, and neither should you! We've decided that when it comes to kids & camping, there's direct correlation between how much fun they're having, and how dirty they get. We call it the "Dirty/Fun Matrix" Well, my kids were covered in dirt (did I mention showers onsite?), never once asked for TV or tablets, there were lots of kids in the campground to play with, and we all had a blast! Come and enjoy this family-owned campground & RV park, let the kids get dirty, and make some memories!

We were in Cabin #2. They told us that the cabins were exactly the same. The first thing that was weird is they took the key to the padlock that was on the door that didn't close snug. We asked for the key, but they said nothing has ever been stolen since they've worked their. We didn't want to take any chances, so we bought our own padlock and locked it when we were away. At first glance the cabin looked clean, but after we un-packed we saw dust bunnies and cobwebs all over. In fact, one was over the bed ready to land on my head. The weather was a little cold at night and there was no heater in our cabin, however, when we were packing up, I went to look in the other cabin #1, and there was a heater and the door closed snug. In addition, the bathroom had cobwebs and dust bunnies as well, but I was happy that it was open 24/7. All and all, we would rate it a 4 out of 10. I suggest that you have your staff clean the facilities on a regular basis, especially before someone stays in the cabins. Thanks!

When your guests are dancing to beat the band at the end of the evening, when they don't wanna go home, cuz it seems like the fun's never gonna stop, when that happens you know you had a great DJ or DJs as far as Katie and Matt are concerned, cuz you get two for the price of one. Vesta and I have photographed a lotta weddings and wedding receptions and we've seen our fair share of DJs and Katie and Matt are among the best in Reno. And they're fun people too. So, you can't go wrong with them. And it's really nice when your DJ is personable, friendly and actually cares about the bride and groom and their guests. And it's really nice when they keep the reception rolling along the way it's supposed too. Vesta and I photographed one wedding where the DJ forgot the bouquet and garter toss. Another where the DJ didn't do the bouquet toss till after most people had gone home, cuz he was so boring and there were only two girls left to catch the flowers. We've worked with Katie and Matt twice and both times they steered the reception along without issue, while staying in tune with the bride and her wishes, even though her wishes may change throughout the evening. Like us, Katie and Matt put the bride first. They are there to do a job and they work for the same person we do, the bride. Her wishes come first. It's her wedding, her special day. Not all DJs know this. Sadly, neither do all photographers. We know it and one of the reasons we like working with Katie and Matt so much is because they know it too. PS. Their "lodge" is better described as a clean, quiet convenience hotel. I completely agree with other reviews - who thought a window in the bathroom was a good idea? My roommate used the bathroom in the night and the light woke me up! Stupid design! The pool, fitness center, and casual dining are in a building about 1 mile up the road. Unfortunately, they don't open early so the in-room Keurig coffee maker is all you have. We were there for a 2-day golf tournament played at Graeagle and Plumas Pines with a 7:30am check-in, so we had to drive to Portola to find a place for to-go breakfast and coffee. We had to double back to the golf course. Nothing in this area is close. Cars are a must, so if someone is golfing early and takes your only car, the rest of you are stranded! Up the hill further is the main lodge. The beamed ceiling room in all their photos is their restaurant. The food was very good. Local vacationers shared it is one of the two really good restaurants in the area (Iron Door is the other, btw.) Get an early reservation if you want to sit outside or at a view table. More than 1/3 of the tables don't have a view. The bar, adjacent to the pro shop in that building is tiny and has no view at all. Not much of a 19th hole! It appeared most golfers rejoin their families by the pool, where the casual dining/bar is. The pro shop for the Dragon had lots of souvenirs and men's golf merch. There was very little women's golf merch. Nakoma appears more interested in selling lots. There are a number of gates to neighborhoods that appear empty. If this area develops, they have plans for a Market on the property, but it's TBD. If you are used to mid to high end resorts, it will disappoint. If you want a clean non-rustic hotel room, this place works. All the other local options are either very rustic or vacation rentals.
