I had my wedding here and while it was the perfect day, I had to spend a lot of time thinking how I had to write this review. First of all, the owner of the lodge, Tongming was SO easy to work with. He communicates so well with you and gets back to you quickly both through email and text. He honestly made the entire process of wedding planning incredibly easy. We rented out the venue for the weekend as I wanted to have the wedding completely personal - my family prepped the food, we set the ceremony/reception area, etc. So the only staff around was one guy, Clark. Another staff member, Faith, helped us out giving us the keys was nice when we were checking in. But she was not happy when we were leaving. I think there was a miscommunication because I had texted Tongming to include the cost of clean up from staff the weekend we arrived. So it was a last minute addition to the contract. Specifically, I asked Tongming what we *needed* to clean up before we checked out. (I'm attaching the text message). And he said we can just walk away, however my family and I felt guilty if we were to just leave everything out so we did as much as we could to restore the lodge even though we were paying extra to have the staff clean up. So, when we were getting ready to check out, Faith came in and the first thing she said was "You guys still have a lot to do". Confused, I asked what she meant and she said we had to clean up the kitchen and put the furniture away. I had told her that we paid for the clean-up process and she was going back and forth with me. So, I resorted reading the text message Tongming sent me verbatim and she said "Okay well if Tongming said that, then that's an issue between him and I'll reach out to him". Then she walked away. Honestly, the vibes my family and I were getting from the staff when we were leaving appeared so hostile that it kind of ruined all the happiness we were feeling the entire weekend. It was clear that the staff was making comments about how we left the lodge when we were ready to check out. Thankfully, Tongming reassured me and sent another sweet message saying that the lodge will always be our wedding venue for life. We were both apologetic to each other for the misunderstanding. Otherwise, I would recommend coming to this lodge as a wedding venue. Our guests had so many great comments about it and the weather was perfect in the summer. If I could take away the interactions we had with the staff, I would give this place 100/10 stars!!!

Spent an amazing weekend at my favorite place: Yuba river ! Glad we found this place . It's pretty close by & best part about it... it's dog friendly ! HUGE PLUS. We stayed at room #1 . The room was super spacious . It had 2 queen beds and a sitting area which was really nice . Our dogs has plenty of room to roam ! I loved that they have a secured gated " garden area" . It was a really good place to go for a walk with the dogs at night. The grounds are gorgeous ! So many redwoods , trees & plants everywhere ! So beautiful to be surrounded by nature . I can defintely see why a lot of people get married at this venue. A huge bonus to free breakfast that was included with our stay ! Thanks Clark for an amazing breakfast & the homemade jams ! It was delicious. He was super friendly & our dogs loved him which is peculiar since they always tend to bark at everyone. Dog whisperer ? The only thing I would probably change is the creepy pictures in the room ... the aesthetics of it looked nice but when you looked closer at the photos they gave me a weird creepy vibe. I also didn't like how they had light sensors in the bathroom . The lights turned off when I was showering & that scared the living daylights out of me -__- Other than that , I would defintely stay again at the Harmony Ridge Lodge ! Had a wonderful experience & my dogs loved it as well .

Great place to get away and relax! Beautiful setting and well kept grounds. We were really impressed with the property host - Melissa. She was very welcoming, informative, courteous and helpful. Our room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Heating and cooling units provided ample means to control the temperature to whatever we wanted. Breakfast was great too. A lot of walking trails to enjoy. Highly recommend this place.

This place is beautiful. Perfect for a wedding or special event. I wasn't here for either. Nope, no romance for me. Not even on TV, cause there aren't any. I couldn't have watched 90 day Fiancee even if I liked that tripe. Thank you Harmony Ridge for peace and quiet. I was lodged in room #4. A smallish accommodation, but just fine for this lonely bachelor (not to be confused with "The Bachelor" I don't watch that crap either). It's tucked away on the far corner of a building. But that only enhances its charm. The seclusion allows for the quiet to perform its magic. Interrupted only by the sound of birds and bees. Ha! I had to get that in seeing how this is a wedding venue. If ya know what I mean. Nudge, nudge, say no more. Your hosts are exceptionally helpful and kind. You'll be treated as a guest rather than just a paying customer. They'll send you on your way with a satisfying breakfast and a smile. Enjoy your stay. I did, even if I couldn't watch the Dodgers pound yet another opponent into submission. Quick Tip: Their WiFi sounds a lot like crickets. Unless those were actual crickets. I don't get much of that in my neighborhood. My WiFi sounds a lot like Yoko Ono.

We stayed here for a weekend away from home. It was a quaint and beautiful place, perfect to disconnect and have a relaxing time off. It's right off the freeway and there's a grocery market as well as a restaurant next door which was super convenient. Downtown Nevada city is only 5 miles away and has plenty of restaurants and eating options as well. We stayed in Room 5. The room was quite large and comfortable, it had a private patio with an awesome view. The room also had a large jacuzzi and dining table. There is no TV in the room but internet is pretty good. They weren't offering the regular breakfast part of the B&B due to Covid restrictions but still offered a decent grab and go breakfast each morning. On the days we stayed they had a hot breakfast wrap, mini egg muffins, pastries, fruit etc. We visited in early March and it had snowed just a few days ago, so the property was covered in snow. We couldn't walk through the woods and enjoy the beautiful garden because of the snow but it was still good to watch and enjoy the view. Really great place to disconnect and relax. Come here for a quiet and relaxing weekend, it won't disappoint you.

Harmony Ridge Lodge is a hidden gem. We had our wedding here in October and it was magical. As Bay Area residents, many of our guests were wondering why we were getting married in Nevada City. But once they saw the venue, they were blown away! The grounds are something out of a forest fairytale with towering pine trees surrounding a quaint lodge with a breathtaking garden. The owner, Tongming, is so friendly and welcoming. He let us come to the venue multiple times before our wedding. He and the manager Michelle were so helpful and kind during our covid wedding postponement. Our entire wedding party was able to stay onsite at the lodge, making it a mini destination wedding. The rooms were comfortable and large, many had their own patio or balcony. And Michelle made breakfast both mornings for us all. And it is relatively affordable for a wedding venue considering your have lodging for the entire weekend. This venue is something special and I am so glad we chose it for our wedding. It was everything we hoped for and more.

If you are even contemplating having your wedding here, do it! I can't say it good enough things about Harmony Ridge Lodge, the owner, Tong Ming and his entire staff! Where to start, the grounds are immaculate! The landscaping and greenery is absolutely breathtaking. The venue is ethereal and surrounded by towering pines. Summer is hot, but the shade helps and the umbrellas available were a lifesaver. It is nature, so beware of ants and bees! Michelle and Faith were both so kind and gracious throughout our stay! They made themselves available, but never hovered or felt like they were watching. Tong Ming takes incredible pride in his property. We saw him in the morning after doing maintenance and even directed parking during our wedding! Pet friendly and breakfast was amazing! We had frittata one morning and delicious, light fluffy pancakes with bacon and sausage the next morning. We did a weekend wedding buyout and the rooms were clean, comfortable and a great value to host all of our guests for the weekend. I would highly highly recommend HRL for a visit or wedding venue!

This is Clark who told me I couldn't use any of the kitchen to prepare a fruit tray. There was plenty of space to share.
Jeannine C.

I just needed to use the kitchen to cut up fruit. To make a fruit tray. The kitchen dude Clark wouldn't let me cut up fruit for a fruit tray at 6:30 am. Let me say the island in the kitchen was empty and he was using the stove. It's absolutely ridiculous. I was told I would have access to the kitchen. Nope. Wedding morning I was informed I couldn't use any of "his" kitchen area. Unacceptable and now I will be late making the bridal fruit trays. Be warned. You may not get full use of facilities that are promised. Plus this man Clark SHOULD NOT BE IN THIS POSITION.

Patti A.

We had a great stay! The manager is so nice. The Lodge has a very B&B feel! Warm and homey. Bravo!

We'll check out the outdoor seating next time. There was nothing on the menu that disappoints so far. We look forward to exploring more (the duck wings will make a repeat appears for us.) This is a fun balance of higher end dining and multi regional creativity that we really enjoyed. The mix of high and low is something we explore a lot in our own kitchen, so we welcome that energy when dining out.

Ambiance: Great, cozy vibe with lot of brick. Bustling but not too loud. We were kind of tucked at a table without a ton of room around it, so that was a little awkward to wiggle into. But overall, if you're in Nevada City, this is definitely where you want to go for a special dinner!

I have waited 16 years to finally get married and was given the green light from my fiance to have the wedding of my dreams. I searched forest wedding and Twenty Mile House was the very first one that came up. I loved that it wasn't too far of a drive away, the all inclusive packages and the accomodation option to stay on site for me and 53 of our guests. We had compared prices to similar venues but found it ridiculous that for the same price, we would only have the venue, tables and chairs at the other places. So with that, Twenty Mile House became the winner. We absolutely loved the vintage cozy look of the homes, the miles and miles of forestation leading up to and within the venue, and the most amazing staff i have ever experienced with. Both Rachel and Ashliegh were absolutely amazing! They both listened and made all of my requests come true. Some had to be compromised, but it didn't change much of my vision. Our bartender Jasper was absolutely amazing and so kind. The lights, the vibe, the music, all of the vendors... they all worked together like a well oiled machine and made every wedding planning moment up to the wedding day absolutely perfect. I'm a chill bride and solely trusted the vendors and Ashliegh on their skills and talent. I'd be lying if I wasn't nervous at times, but said yes when they said "trust us". They absolutely delivered! The cake was exactly how I'd envisioned it and was so delicious, the food was a huge hit for my husband and I and our guests (I wanted to takr home the meatballs and freeze them), the DJ was perfection, the florals were immaculate (more than what i had expected), and the photographer Rachelle was sooo kind and made our little awkward selves so comfortable. We had hired a non preferred videographer for our day but both Rachelle and Ashliegh worked well with them. Thank you Twenty Mile House for making our dream wedding a reality! We will definitely come back one day and rent one of your homes as an Air Bnb, just so we can relive a little piece of our wedding. Thank you, thank you, a million times thank you!

First the pros. - [ ] This venue is absolutely beautiful. The property and the barn with its chandlers, white draping intertwined with fairy lights are absolutely stunning. The venue at sunset is astonishing and creates a colorful backdrop for your special day. - [ ] The back patio and lawn areas are spacious and can comfortably accommodate 100 people. - [ ] They offer a small mobile bar and you choose 3 signature cocktails. They provide the mixers, water, ice, cups and straws. We provided the alcohol, beer and wine. - [ ] The Bridal suite was tastefully decorated and is an ample size for a small bridal party. - [ ] There is plenty of parking. The cons - [ ] The owner is extremely difficult and very unpleasant to work with. Not much is in writing and she changes her mind and the rules as she goes. She consistently made comments about us loosing our deposit if we did this or didn't do that. This was both prior to the wedding and during the wedding reception. I don't believe it was only us. When we came on Monday for the table delivery, she was complaining about the bride and the brides family from the weekend. - [ ] During our interview she told us that we could have access the week prior beginning on Monday. She said she was very flexible and just let her know when we wanted to come, she would work with us. Once the contact was signed we were told we could only have 3 hours prior to the wedding. She stated that she had been taken advantage of and had to tighten the access down to 3 hours. We had already made arrangements with her to have 10 barn tables dropped off on Monday and she told us that would count as 1 of our 3 hours. - [ ] During our 2 hours we had to set up the venue she was constantly with us offering her opinion. The bride had spent a lot of time deciding on how she wanted the tables and things set up. The owner was overbearing and constantly offering her opinion. It became very uncomfortable especially since we only had 2 hours to prepare. She told us that the tables needed color and looked bland. They were what the bride wanted. It was a hard and uncomfortable situation. - [ ] The bar ran out of ice and bottles waters early in the evening. Luckily it was not a hot day, the day's high was only 84 degrees. They did not refill the soda and water barrel. I had to ask twice but was told there was no ice or water. The majority of the time there was no ice and no bottled water. I had brought 2 large, very nice metal and copper drink tubs and were told no we couldn't use them, that hers would look better. - [ ] Parking is a long walk on uneven grass and in the dark. She has guests park on the opposite far edge of her property. She could easily have them park closer. I'm not sure why she does that? - [ ] No bathrooms, just two port a potty's for 100 guests. - [ ] At one point during the reception my daughter's grandmother went into the bridal suite to get something for my daughter and the owner hurried up to me and she told me that she had remotely locked the suite. That someone was in there that wasn't allowed. She said she locked it and we could find her if we needed to go inside and she would remotely unlock the door. She again threatened that she would have to keep our deposit if anyone went inside that wasn't allowed. Who wasn't allowed?? First I had heard of that?? - [ ] We followed the rules. Music stopped at 10:00. We had hired a helper and with the help of several family members we had everything cleared out, chairs stacked, tables wiped down and all garbage in bags put where we were instructed. We packed our cars and were out at 10:58 since everyone had to be out by 11:00. It was a challenge, but we did it. We started clearing off the runners, garlands and table signs while the dancing was still going on. We were confident that we would receive our full $1000 deposit back. - [ ] We received only $180 of our $1000 deposit back. Her reasons were ridiculous, unreasonable and unfair. We felt she planned to keep our deposit from the very beginning. The wedding was beautiful and the guests all enjoyed it. If I had to do it over I would not rent this beautiful venue. The owner was unpleasant, unfair and incredibly difficult to work with. She added so much unnecessary stress to the process.
