My wife and I had a couple of days free to just get away someplace quiet and relaxing. I found this B&B that is located on top of a hill and away from any town. We were in luck as we had the whole place to ourselves, another good reason to book on Mondays. It was fun to play keep away with Cooper, the big tough dog, as my dog of 12 yrs had recently passes away. Breakfast was perfect.Guy recommended some hiking trails close by on the Weimar property,so with Cooper in tow we set out. The trails are all well marked and groomed. We came across the old Weimar Sanatorium Cemetery. Incredible place, over 1450 people are buried there dating to 1919. We are already planing returning sometime during the winter months with some close friends. I had read on the web site about some gorgeous views of mountains, but the King fire kind of changed that.

This place is phenomenal! It's like a sanctuary. Very friendly helpful staff. Great breakfast. The grounds are gorgeous and quiet. One of the best experiences I've ever had staying somewhere. Cute Victorian house and rooms. Nice pool table and jacuzzi. Can't say enough about this place.

Beautiful view of the pond from the front porch.

My husband grabbed this place as a surprise to me for our planned trip to a show in Colfax. An early Anniversary getaway. We live 25 minutes away in Auburn but when we arrived here, we felt like we were in a different world. First and foremost, Guy welcomed us at the door. Gave us a tour. Game room with pool table, stereo, couches, tv. Showed us our room. It was beautiful. I swear to God, I wish my own house was half as clean. It has a rather 80s/early 90s feel (so for kids staying may seem antique lol) but omg how does one get a bathroom with tile counters, showers and floor so prestine? Towels were large and fluffy. I can't get over how clean everything was. The bed was super comfy. The breakfast with Bonnie was wonderful. Yogurt and fruit. Coffee. Scrambled eggs on a light tortilla with dishes on the side to add cheese, salsa etc. She was super fun to hang out with and we got to know her so much and felt so comfortable with her that when we started to help clear the table she said "If you try to help, we will charge you extra" lol. LOVE HER!! This place is amazing and we can't wait to go back!!!

The property is listed as a B&B on several platforms, the website features breakfast imagery, and the booking form asks for dietary restrictions, so we reasonably assumed breakfast and access to common areas were part of the experience. Instead, Room 2 functions more like a small private room rental with limited access to the house. We were surprised to learn upon arrival that we did not have access to the main house common areas. For us, shared spaces are a major part of what makes staying in a bed and breakfast enjoyable. The room itself was also extremely small. With a queen bed and a twin bed in the room, there was essentially no space to move around comfortably and no seating area at all. For three guests, there was nowhere to sit except on the beds, and simply walking around the room was difficult due to the tight layout. Breakfast was also not served. Two muffins were left for us despite the reservation being for three guests, and despite the booking form asking for dietary restrictions. We have stayed at many bed and breakfasts over the years throughout California--both coastal and wine country--and the experiences we've loved have always included warm hospitality, welcoming hosts, shared spaces to relax in, and memorable breakfasts. The common thread in these stays is that guests are encouraged to enjoy the home itself, interact with hosts, and relax in shared spaces. That sense of hospitality and atmosphere is the reason we choose B&Bs. While the building at The Parsonage is historic, Room 2 itself felt very modern and generic rather than reflecting the character of a historic inn. To be fair, the owners later pointed out that the website includes a detailed description and a floor plan showing the limited access for Room 2. However, we found the wording easy to misinterpret when booking, particularly given the B&B categorization, breakfast imagery on the site, and the dietary restriction field in the booking form. At approximately $280 for the night (including a $50 fee for a third guest), the experience did not match what we personally expect from a bed-and-breakfast stay. This room may work fine for travelers who simply want a small private room and plan to spend most of their time out in town. However, for guests specifically seeking the hospitality, shared spaces, and atmosphere that typically define a bed-and-breakfast experience, Room 2 may not meet those expectations.

Barbara answered the phone and she was so pleasant and helpful, I knew it wasn't a mistake. Peter greeted us upon our arrival. He was just too sweet! Walked us around, gave us our key, etc. He told us about the various areas of interest and we had a great conversation about where they moved from. I was sorry to not meet Barbara, she was visiting family. The house is darling, lots of antiques and nick-nacks, cabinets full of crystal and old teacups & China, lots of family pictures. It was like walking through my great-grandmother's house. We stayed in the Brunswick room, overlooking the backyard. Quiet & peaceful, like we stepped back in time when things were simple. I was pleased that there was no TV (they do have WiFi, don't panic). Overall, it was a great stay and I hope to visit again.

The breakfast was top notch and did I mention the cookies? Barbara has been making these blue ribbon (the blue ribbon is next to the cookie jar) sugar cookies for over 20 years. I knew they were good just by looking at the cookie jar. We even bought 3 dozen to take home. At $.50 per cookie it would have been a deal at twice the price. Check out Elam Biggs. We stayed in the Stone Pine room, which is one of the smaller rooms, but it was a good enough size for a couple, had a private entrance, and did not share any walls with other rooms. Very peaceful and quiet. Keep in mind there was no cell service in this room (Verizon), due to the more secluded location, but the wifi worked great. The star of the show were the outdoor soaking tubs, which really made the experience so special. The tubs are more like bathtubs than jacuzzis, with temperature adjustments which was perfect for being pregnant, and no yucky chlorine smell after. Amazing! The breakfasts were delicious each day and part of the magic of the bed and breakfast. Breakfast was delivered to the room promptly and the owners were willing to accommodate my dietary restriction. Coffee/tea was available via Keurig in the rooms (Starbucks and Peet's pods) with plenty of cream and sugar options. The only downside to our stay was that we ended up having to lose our *full* pay for an expensive massage package due to a personal medical emergency. I am not docking stars on this rating because I understand they are running a business, we signed the policy, etc. This is just my personal opinion on a unique situation for you as a potential guest to know. Because they contract out for their spa services, just beware they do not have a forgiving policy. I happened to have a horribly timed medical emergency at the time of our massage. The masseuses were already onsite and we felt terrible, but I was physically unable to get the massage and needed to go to the hospital promptly. We informed the owners what was going on every step of the way, and they were kind and understanding in the moment given a bad situation. However, I was disappointed they offered no support with brainstorming a potential reschedule (we were willing to pay more), offer a partial refund, small future discount, etc... nothing. It was honestly just crickets from them and seemed to be unsaid that it was not their problem. This might come down to personal opinion, but it felt cold and dampened our experience. I ended up having to be the one to reach out to the owner via text, and again in person when we returned to the Inn to inquire about a reschedule or any support with the matter. The owner stated there were no slots available, no refunds, and cited having to put strict policies in place due to people in the past missing massages for arriving late, oversleeping, etc. Again, this just felt cold considering the terrible morning scare we had, which clearly was different than just being irresponsible. This kind of humanity in hard situations is what sets certain businesses apart for me in extenuating circumstances, and keeps guests coming back. Other than this, we had a wonderful stay and would choose to revisit the Eden Vale Inn given all the other great and accommodating features of our stay.
