Came across Eden Vale Inn when looking for a place to stay for a rafting trip with All-Outdoors on the American River. It's such a cute inn! We checked in after 6pm, so check in instructions were texted to us. Easy to follow. Was easy to find. We stopped at Wally's Pizza for dinner in Cameron Park based off their restaurant suggestions on their website and sent via text check in instructions. Great suggestion! The next mornings breakfast is texted the night before, offering some options like juice preference. And it's delivered around 9am the next morning. Since we had to be at rafting at 9 our first morning at the Inn, they delivered us fruit, scones, and juice early at 8:15am which was really nice. Breakfast was delicious, both mornings. And super fresh. We stayed in the Cypress room. Was as pictured online. Room was clean. The patio area is nice. We explored the grounds a bit our last morning and saw many places to sit around. We enjoyed some time up at the pond in the morning. The staff - I assume owners - were very friendly. We were very happy with our stay here and would return! read more

Absolutely wonderful couples retreat. My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here for two nights, and we enjoyed the gourmet breakfast, beautifully tended grounds, the iconic rowboat, and of course the beautiful rooms with soaking tubs. David and Karen, the owners, are so sweet and welcoming. The inn is dog friendly, as there is a fully functioning outdoor patio area you can eat meals at. There's also a fire pit that's gorgeous at night, and plenty of bird feeders. If you enjoy birdwatching, this is the place as there are a variety of different feathered visitors that come by this naturally beautiful retreat. Recently chose Eden Vale Inn for our "babymoon" vacation and overall had a lovely stay and highly recommend the inn for a romantic getaway! We stayed in the Stone Pine room, which is one of the smaller rooms, but it was a good enough size for a couple, had a private entrance, and did not share any walls with other rooms. Very peaceful and quiet. Keep in mind there was no cell service in this room (Verizon), due to the more secluded location, but the wifi worked great. The star of the show were the outdoor soaking tubs, which really made the experience so special. The tubs are more like bathtubs than jacuzzis, with temperature adjustments which was perfect for being pregnant, and no yucky chlorine smell after. Amazing! The breakfasts were delicious each day and part of the magic of the bed and breakfast. Breakfast was delivered to the room promptly and the owners were willing to accommodate my dietary restriction. Coffee/tea was available via Keurig in the rooms (Starbucks and Peet's pods) with plenty of cream and sugar options. The only downside to our stay was that we ended up having to lose our *full* pay for an expensive massage package due to a personal medical emergency. I am not docking stars on this rating because I understand they are running a business, we signed the policy, etc. This is just my personal opinion on a unique situation for you as a potential guest to know. Because they contract out for their spa services, just beware they do not have a forgiving policy. I happened to have a horribly timed medical emergency at the time of our massage. The masseuses were already onsite and we felt terrible, but I was physically unable to get the massage and needed to go to the hospital promptly. We informed the owners what was going on every step of the way, and they were kind and understanding in the moment given a bad situation. However, I was disappointed they offered no support with brainstorming a potential reschedule (we were willing to pay more), offer a partial refund, small future discount, etc... nothing. It was honestly just crickets from them and seemed to be unsaid that it was not their problem. This might come down to personal opinion, but it felt cold and dampened our experience. I ended up having to be the one to reach out to the owner via text, and again in person when we returned to the Inn to inquire about a reschedule or any support with the matter. The owner stated there were no slots available, no refunds, and cited having to put strict policies in place due to people in the past missing massages for arriving late, oversleeping, etc. Again, this just felt cold considering the terrible morning scare we had, which clearly was different than just being irresponsible. This kind of humanity in hard situations is what sets certain businesses apart for me in extenuating circumstances, and keeps guests coming back. Back in October 2022, I planned a romantic getaway here for my wife and I to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed in the premium suite called Gray Pine with our own designated parking space. The great thing about the premium suites is that they are located in a separate building and provide that much more serenity and quiet. This was our first time visiting and staying at Eden Vale, and I will say that both David and Karen go above and beyond with answering any questions or concerns. For my introverted self, I was happily content with the daily breakfast delivery of homemade vegetarian breakfast delivered to our deck location for that perfect blend of privacy meets sleeping in. Sometimes you want to eat bfast together, but not necessarily get dressed to dine with other guests. I do value that they provide vegetarian options and will ask about any dietary restrictions. These are small details that make the best experience. There's also a shared kitchenette between the two suites with a fridge to put any leftovers or drinks, etc. A lot of the room amenities are digital and very easy to use (at the click of a button). Clear instructions and plenty of space/indoor lighting/accommodations. I found the room to be cozy and romantic. There was a little kissing decor piece that I took a picture of just to add to that overall love feeling. Of course, the private deck with robes and a deep couples soaking tub was amazing. We would often go out there in the middle of the night with our cheeto puffs and wine glasses to soak in the bubbles while looking up at the night sky. So peaceful! If you check their website prior to reservations, they often have weekday specials going on where you could save a healthy amount on the daily rate. You can also add on enhancements to make the stay memorable. There's a cute little pond on the grounds with a boat reminiscent of a scene out of The Notebook. We didn't take the boat for a spin, but just looking at the landscape gave me those happy couple vibes. Honestly, the only negative we experienced during our stay in 2022, was that the bed seemed off kilter. It didn't seem level. Laying on it with my head feeling as if it was positioned lower than my body kind of gave a headache, but we did bring this to the attention of David and Karen. I would recommend this Bed & Breakfast to anyone wanting to experience a new landscape away from the bustle of city life, but still within a reasonable drive to Placerville, El Dorado Hills, and so forth. This place was rustic, with luxurious amenities, and just downright amazing. The property is so peaceful and pretty but still close (15 min) to the apple orchards, Main Street Placerville, the south fork River, and more. The owners are friendly, helpful, and great at communicating everything you need to know about your stay and then some. You even get a text in the morning when breakfast is on its way. For me, the highlight was relaxing on the grounds surrounded by gorgeous trees and plants, fun and eclectic yard decor (there are even some bowling balls on posts), water features and a pond with great clarity. The breakfasts were good and they had no problem accommodating your food preferences (vegetarian.) There is a designated parking spot for each room and a decent-sized overflow for a second vehicle, if needed. The property is rural but with lots of modern amenities. The fireplace comes on at the touch of a button as well as the outdoor tub. Privacy curtains surround your front porch so fear not the walk to and from the tub! There is even a "romance" button that dims the interior lights and kicks on the fireplace! So many well thought details. I can't wait to go back someday. Eloped here in June 2024, it was amazing. Woke up to the best bed in breakfast, so good that I asked for the recipe for their spinach chèvre egg puffs which they so kindly printed for me. We recently spent 4 nights at Eden Vale Inn in the Gray Pine room. Even though this room shares a wall with the Madrone room, happily we didn't hear the 2 sets of guests in the Madrone room other than when they closed a door. Our room was tastefully furnished, the bathroom was spacious and very clean and it was nice to have a private patio to eat breakfast outdoors or use the tub. We also liked that we had access to a kitchenette and the shared kitchen. Inkeepers Karen and Dave were very personable, helpful and you can tell they really have pride of ownership of their property as everythingis well maintained. They provide fresh water in glass bottles in the room, as well as a fireplace and an AC that works very well! Each room is equipped with a Firestick on the TV where you can log onto your streaming accounts. We purchased several of the packages/specials and they were set up so well! The room and private balcony was superb! The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the interior decor is very cute. The private en-suite bathroom was spacious. The breakfasts were all amazing! Breakfast was always provided at the stated time, which I appreciated! I felt very pampered with those meals. The innkeepers were very responsive via text and also reachable using the room telephone. This place runs like a well oiled machine. Everything about it is flawless. This is definitely worth the money! The massage we booked was just okay, but the massage services are done by outside vendors, so it's not really a reflection on Eden Vale. I think it comes down to knowing what to expect and working well with the masseuse. The property and surrounding area is truly picturesque and very peaceful. I enjoyed waking up in the mornings and stepping out on the private deck to breathe in the fresh air, anticipating the delicious breakfast that would be provided. Summary: lovely little spot close to Placerville and Apple Hill. Very relaxing experience with close access to hiking, wineries, antique shopping, and Apple Hill. Location: easy to spot off the road, quiet location overlooking nature scenery. The drive itself goes through some windy roads and cliffs, be prepared if you're not used to driving in the foothills. About 15-20 minute drive to downtown Placerville and Apple Hill. The grounds of the bed and breakfast itself are a good size that allows a nice morning 5-10 minute stroll. Plenty of spots to sit down and enjoy a meal spread throughout the grounds. Food: the bed and breakfast provides fresh homemade breakfasts every morning. The food was promptly delivered and tasted great. Excellent way to start every morning. Portion sizes were good, not enough to make you "stuffed" but just right. Service: the owners were really friendly and fun to chat with, breakfast was delivered promptly, questions were answered in a timely manner. Cost: price was reasonable in comparison to other bed and breakfast spots in Northern California. Definitely more affordable than those closer to the Bay Area. Amenities: rooms have a very nice, renovated bathroom, comfortable beds, Amazon Fire TVs, ample closet pace, patio space, and last but definitely not least the soaking tubs are a great way to unwind after a day of hiking or visiting Apple Hill (note: we had the Juniper room). Room size is okay for relaxing at the end of the day or resting in between trips, the room is just big enough for your bed, luggage, and space to eat a meal. Room refrigerator big enough for about one gallon jug of apple cider and a five pound bag of apples (speaking from very specific experience), bring an extra cooler if you want to stock up on apple cider. Things to do: while Apple Hill is definitely the main attraction in the area, there are also plenty of wineries, and hiking spots. Downtown Placerville has many cute antique shops to visit and can easily take up a day. read more

Leave your kids, the suburbs and your worries behind. Out here there's nothing but peace and quiet. Our suite was the gray pine and for inquiring minds, this room overlooks the entrance to the inn. Robes upon request, as are the masseuses. Yes! There is absolutely an on-site spa room where I thoroughly enjoyed a deep tissue massage before a soak in our giant tub. You are in the middle of the country, so Uber and DoorDash are not going to be your best bet. We ended up using a cab service to shuttle us to and from a Wedding we were attending. Keep that in mind! Breakfast is a set menu every morning and it was OK. I'm not big on eggs so I ended up not eating breakfast the second morning. I didn't realize we wouldn't be able to choose what we wanted, and I was secretly disappointed. I wasn't there on the day waffles were being served. lol. There was a shared kitchenette where we could store the drinks we brought, and any food if we wanted to. The bed was of the utmost comfort, which is probably like the most important detail. The shower was just as fabulous as the outdoor tub. The room was incredibly welcoming, serene and very cozy. And the views, just wow. Lovely grounds and a nice welcoming staff. OK, so what's an honest review without some cons right? I mean nothing major, but details matter. With that said, the towels were rough. Literally. Like sandpaper. So do yourself a favor and bring your own bath towels because I think they might not use fabric softener, which is probably to conserve. Getting out of that nice dual head shower or that nice deep, soaking tub and using a rough towel is no fun! Kind of ruins the experience, ya know? Not for nothing but considering I think we paid $500 plus, for our second night there, I mean fluffy towels should be a no-brainer...maybe the towels are better in other rooms. I don't know. All I know is our towels were bad enough for me to mention it. And before anyone, cops, an attitude, I am California born and raised. So fire season is not something I am a stranger to. With that said, I don't know if I needed a post-it on my candle, telling me open flames were prohibited. I get it. We are surrounded by dry timber. I thought the "no open flame policy" was for the outside deck area...I know I'm not the only one who brings travel candles for ambience. And while I did acquiesce to their request on the post-it, obviously, I was slightly annoyed. But since we are guests on someone's property, we threw away our $200 candle.... I'm just kidding! Lol Just a minor nuisance but yeah, leave your candles at home if you're going to stay here. AND yes...my responsible self never left the room with the candle lit. It was blown out anytime we left... I noticed they also unplugged my hair straightener, which, for the record was also off. But something tells me their paranoia about fires is more than the average bear...understandable. 100%... I just admittedly have to say it felt like my mom came into my room while I was gone lol! Leaving notes and unplugging straighteners...mom, that you? Okay I'm done. You'll love it here. My wife and I just returned from spending 4 nights at Eden Vale. We can say, without hesitation, that this was a wonderful experience. We needed a break from the stress in our life, and we got it. David and Karen are great people who clearly care about the guest experience, and they go all out to provide a memorable stay at Eden Vale. This property has been built with love and a respect for the history of the area, and the natural setting is well infused with thoughtful landscaping, many walking paths and places to stop and enjoy the moment. The room we stayed in, The Cottonwood, was perfect. It was well appointed and spotless, and the attention to detail is incredible. The breakfasts were delicious, and delivered to our door hot, on time, every morning. If you are looking for a nice getaway in the foothills, we can't think of a better place to go. Lighting throughout the grounds. Check in- Entrance is clearly marked and signs are visible with instructions. Check in was easy because you are kept updated with very important and simple instructions. It was really refreshing & definitely small business touch & Covid safe. Friendly doggie lp My room was beautiful and so comfortable. I would love to be here on a rainy weekend. There are so many small special added touches that you can't help but smile. Comfy bed, one of my best sleeps. The unique lighting is great and I hope it does help to conserve. Items like a small bright flashlight, charging station, nice shower toiletries & robe and slippers. Yes I wore mine to the 2 massages I had onsite. Massages- wonderful and relaxing & therapeutic. I made the appointments prearrival, take advantage of the $99 price. The resort is in a natural setting that you feel you are in your own private getaway. Only thing I can wish on was a lunch & dinner option. Even if we had to preorder. Beautiful grounds. You really feel far away, the room was set up beautifully. Massages and champagne were a nice touch. You have a private patio with the soaking tub, everything was clean and up to date. This was a surprise trip for my significant other and he really enjoyed his time. The only downfall (or maybe not) was lack of cell service. We had a small issue getting door dash to deliver our food but it wasn't any fault of the Inn. Karen was sweet, welcoming, friendly and professional. I am unsure what male answered the phone or emails I had sent but he was a little rude and not helpful. Glad I didn't have to deal with him. An exceptional and romantic overnight stay with your loved one! The sound of the rain from a passing storm also provided us with a more deeply soothing and relaxing experience. The room has private soaking tub which was absolutely incredible to use after our massage. There is a pond on site with a row boat that you can use, we took advantage of that soon after we arrived. We spent our anniversary weekend, at Eden Vale last week and it was amazing. The property is stunning. David and Karen (and the team), are excellent hosts, and made us feel at home for the entire stay. The site is so relaxing and really is a little piece of heaven. A large pond, and water features around the property, allow birds to stop by and visit, and further add to the romantic atmosphere. The rooms we nice and cozy, with a rainfall shower in the bathroom. The soaking tubs are extra large, and on an enclosed on a private patio. Tubs have own automatic filling controls, for fool proof use. We had some extra packages added on to our stay, and it really set the mood. Extras were fresh and high quality; gorgeous flowers, decadent chocolates, and nice crisp champagne. Gourmet breakfast was amazing both days!! Nice sized entree, fresh fruit, protein, and juice each day and kept us full until after lunch! We used the spa facilities on-site and had a couples Swedish massage, our first time! Barb and Erin both really took care of us. The most amazing massage,with lymphatic drainage. Recovered with some of their amazing water and a nice soak. About the water! The have a well on-site with the purest water you have e er tasted.. manifique! Everything was great. Hello business owner, I do appreciate the apology and my disappointment was due to the lack of basic hospitality one often receives in a bed and breakfast type establishment. I'm very approachable and feel comfortable interacting with diverse groups. So if you noted something was bothering a guest, a simple check in with the guest seems reasonable. However, the majority of the communication after checkin was via text messaging which were typically auto generated responses to questions I asked. Text messaging may not be the most reliable method to base expressive communication. However, I did call to request more towels and had to explain why I needed more. The towels on the shelf were used the night prior. Again, my issue was lack of hospitality which is what I communicated to the Yelp community. read more

My husband & I stayed here for a couple nights for a Babymoon getaway from 07/07-07/09. As we arrived to check-in, we were greeted by Mr. David, Karen and their son. GREAT PEOPLE! Karen gave us the whole rundown of what to expect during our stay, what we may utilize, answered ALL of our questions, and gave us a tour of the whole Inn and amenities. Throughout our stay, they were very prompt in answering any further questions we had and really just took care of us. It was an experience I never actually quite had. Our room was perfect. Since we had the babymoon package, they provided us with chocolate truffles, sparkling cider, and other bath goodies to use for the soaking tub. The AC was impeccable lol (we went during triple digit heatwave). We had a super cute patio with table and chairs to have our breakfast in the morning, surrounded by the greenery, the sound of birds singing, and jus fresh air. And the breakfast, OMG AMAZING. I was looking forward to it the most because the other reviews looked SO GOOD. Everything was just immaculate. We added couples massages to our babymoon package as well and the masseuses Erin & Sara were absolutely incredible. They really took the time out to ask questions about any concerns we may have, they curated the whole experience to be based on our exact needs, and I have never felt so divine after a massage, leaving so revived, so free and relaxed. My husband couldn't stop raving about it either. We ended up getting their contact info as well for future massages! All in all, STAY at the EDEN VALE INN if you are looking for a romantic, peaceful retreat and want to be spoiled and check out of your daily life duties. PEEPING TOM ON THE PREMISES My partner and I stayed here twice. Never again after catching the owners son peeking at us in the tub on the patio well after midnight. You can see where he was standing, on top of the bricked area where you have a straight vantage point to peek into the patio and see directly to the tub. I heard rustling nearby; too close for comfort, immediately after turning the music off. So I stood on top of the stairs leading to the tub, looking over the top, and saw a man running FULL SPEED, I'm talking a literal sprint, across the property, after jumping down from the lifted bricked area. After seeing him run directly inside of a property on the premises, we got ourselves together and knocked on his door. I have a video of this interaction. He did not answer until we let him know we know what he was doing. He then opened the door just enough, where he was profusely sweating, stumbling over his words, and was very obviously just caught red handed. We did not get any sleep that night. First thing after the sun came up, we went to the front desk and spoke with the owners. They say "oh that's just our son, he goes out there sometimes late at night and broadcasts". Broadcasting.. what, exactly? And what business does he have broadcasting ANYTHING from under our private, reserved, space?? Then they say he actually needs to go back and forth from the main house to use the restroom. Still no reason why the man we confronted was sweating BULLETS. I am not exaggerating, profusely sweating. You wouldn't sweat like that from that short distance of a run, and, running at such a speed, for what? And- why did I hear him right beneath our patio? It doesn't add up. But they were giving us EXTREMELY odd vibes. Think, "Get Out". So we left as soon as they gave us a refund. It's taken a while for me to post this. Even while typing this, my heart is beating out of my chest. A police report was filed, and an officer went the very next day to check out the situation. But this is a small town, full of locals. And the owners only 'liked' pages on social media, is Placerville PD and Placerville fire dept. so I can imagine how that went. **POSTING FOR AWARENESS. Our privacy was invaded. We are looking out for others who do not deserve this disgusting violation . Beware, honestly. I have a feeling this is some gnarly underground family business. Bathtubs outside, romance inducing, getaway! All sounds great and dandy, right? But oh watch out the owners son is peeking through the outside curtains and through the wood panels into your private patios. With NO WARNING. Owners, this is not for you to argue with. With Covid and wild fires our plans for our anniversary were cancelled. We wanted a little get away that was special, not to far away and we that at Eden Vale! The owners are so sweet they make you feel right at home. The rooms are amazing and surprisingly high tech. The personal mini hot tub on your own private deck was so relaxing and romantic. We had the most perfect stay at Eden Vale! We were able to enjoy champagne in our soaking tub, breakfast in bed, and walking around the lovely property. They also have "Wine Club for a Day" available for many Apple Hill wineries in the area. It was the perfect weekend getaway. read more

This is our second visit and we already decided we will not be waiting as long as we did between the first and second visit. If your looking for a place to just relax and forget about your busy life, this is the place. This place has all the amenities your looking for. The soaking tubs for two are perfect. Sit by a peaceful pond and play cards, look no more. Private room with breakfast delivered to your door each morning,done. Sit outside enjoying the birds, sounds of a water fall or wind chimes, this is the place. Travel up to Apple Hill then come back down and relax in a nice and cool room or prep the tub to soak in. We loved staying here but, FYI: it's not handicap accessible. If you're in a wheel chair, forget it. We felt a weirdness when we got there. I was like ... oh yeah .. probably because we are a LGBT couple. So uncomfortable but it was very obvious that not many queer couples come here. read more

2021 update: still the perfect romantic getaway I remember. We booked 2 nights here and had a wonderful time in the grey pine room. The outdoor soaking tub makes the whole trip worth it. Check in and out are very fast and easy as they have a great app and messaging system through text to keep you updated during your stay. You get the option of choosing juice for breakfast but otherwise they'll let you know what's on the menu for the next morning. The rooms are nicely warm with a fire place and they have nice showers. My only issue is the bed was quite hard so I might recommend a mattress topper. Otherwise the room had great amenities including a Keurig, kitchenette access with fridge and of course the huge soaking tub with chairs on a private patio. The grounds are still gorgeous as ever and I was happy to see the pond. We spent a few hours puttering around the pond near sunset. This is the place to be to live out your The Notebook dreams. Breakfasts were very tasty and includes an entree, fruit cup and juice. Overall this is a great place to have as home base for Apple Hill and wine tasting but it's lovely to just hang out as well. What really sets Eden Vale apart from the rest is their attention to detail. I must say, their service and care rivaled that of the Ritz Carlton. So many thoughtful touches. Perfect for a quick night away or an entire weekend. Surprise and "Wow!" your significant other or if you are single, enjoy a quiet and calm retreat. It does not matter. Eden Vale caters to it all. My husband and I stayed at Eden Vale Inn for the weekend of our September wedding. David & Karen were very gracious hosts! We greatly enjoyed the hospitality here and the romantic setting. We stayed in the Grey Pine room and enjoyed all of the amenities it offered. The breakfast was very delicious! They even accommodated an earlier meal for me on my wedding day since I needed to go to my salon early. The pond was a beautiful place to enjoy before driving home as newlyweds. We got married at Sequoia mansion nearby and had bridal hair and makeup scheduled right across the street at Springvale Farms. Super convenient and lovely location! read more
