Had the place to ourselves in Late July on a Thursday. Beautiful views everywhere you look, including the train tracks. Bed & linens exceeded expectation. Extremely clean. Location would be great for Receptions or large family getaways, especially if you can occupy all the rooms. No real 'food' or 'drink' amenities, so bring your own. Where do I start...ok,...the bed was beyond comfortable... we just didn't want to get up. We called direct for our reservation, which I would highly recommend as the online booking was a bit confusing. The photos and room description was different depending on what site you looked at. There is a steep staircase to get up to the upper rooms so if stairs are an issue, book one of the downstairs rooms We had the Stafford suite and it was amazing. Nicely decorated and again, that bed was so so comfy. If you are under 5'8" you may need a step stool to get in the bed! It can be noisy with the freeway and train nearby but we weren't bothered by it. There is a huge fountain outside the window that helps. This would be a great place for a small wedding or family reunion... the whole place is inviting and cozy. I am sure the grounds are gorgeous in the spring! They do not offer breakfast so we brought some muffins and fruit and enjoyed our coffee in the parlor... you do have full use of the kitchen so If you want to cook, you can. The owners are very prompt to reply if you have questions and check in was a breeze! We will most definitely be back! read more

Laurie and Scott were super nice and did everything they could to make our "single occupancy" (what happens when the husband books the trip lol) stay in their smallest room as comfortable as it could be. We accidentally booked the Shannon room, which is a tight squeeze for two, but perfect for a single traveler, with a comfortable twin mattress, a small TV, and the bathroom facilities (sink, toilet, shower) all in one room. The innkeepers made us feel at home and always had snacks available and cold water in the fridge. The a/c was so quiet and kept us cool while we were huddled together on the twin mattress. In the morning, we enjoyed a homemade breakfast spread on their gorgeous patio with a view of downtown Auburn. The strata, which rotates in flavor, was southwestern and tasted delicious. We polished off the last of the Chemex-brewed coffee and got our caffeine through k-cups after that. The cinnamon buns though - oh my gosh - they were to die for. Great texture and not too sweet. Need the recipe! The property retains a Victorian charm but is modern, renovated, and clean inside. They were doing landscaping work when we were there, so one can only assume it will even get cuter. Perched on a hill, the B&B offers great views of Auburn. I wish we had more reasons to come back (we were there for a wedding in Foresthill) because this was such a great place to get away. This was everything a B&B should be, and Laurie was such a pleasure to get to know and talk to. You can tell this B&B was a passion project for her, and she loves to host. Gold country is one of our favorite road trips in California -- just a quick 2 hour drive from San Francisco or a 6-hour drive from LA. Okay, it's a LONG drive from LA, but we feel like it's so worth it. Once you're there, you'll feel completely transported to another time. And not just because you'll likely be completely disconnected because of the lack of cell service. We couldn't get enough of this gorgeous boutique hotel that was recently remodeled by the friendly hosts. Plus, the beds are beyond comfortable. I don't think I've ever had a better night's sleep. Start your day off right with the breakfast after a night at the Park Victorian Hotel in Auburn, California. This tiny town is the perfect place to base yourself. There are a lot of boutique hotel and B&B options in the area, but most sort of remind us of the backdrop from 'The Exorcist.' During a previous visit to the area, we stayed in the attic of a B&B that was filled with creepy dolls. I'm still scarred... We also loved the views from the Park Victorian, perched high above the town of Auburn. Before heading out of town, wander the streets to check out restaurants for that night and other local businesses. There is a farmer's market right in the heart of downtown - not far from the hotel - in the courthouse parking lot (open 8 AM - noon on the weekends year round). It's compact, but clearly a favorite spot among the locals. read more

I don't have to even convince you of staying here because all the other reviews are 100% accurate! I came here and stayed in the Shannon room which was plenty and perfect for 1 person! I like to sometimes go on a drive and stay in a hotel over night to unplug and catch up on books, journaling, reading my bible and hangin out with God, etc. I drove an hour to stay here and it looks like this will be a tradition and I will be returning for more of this GORGEOUS stay, hospitality and the feel of "home" Scott was awesome and made himself available if I needed anything, but everything was already provided! The breakfast was AMAZING!! & Laurie even gave me her home-made granola recipe which was so yummy! In addition to her (THE BEST) cinnamon roll recipe too! I don't think I can copy her recipe and make them as good but I can't wait to try them both! If I could give the Park Victorian 10 stars, I would! You won't regret your time here! I just recently had stayed here for my wedding night. My husband and I got married in Newcastle and I am so happy this place was close enough for us to migrate to once our reception finished. We had booked it several months out and they had reached out to us about a month before the wedding letting us know about a misbooking. This was the third time that my husband and I have stayed at the Park Victorian - and each time we've been, we've always had an amazing experience. It's the perfect place to recharge and relax, either as a stopping point on a longer trip to Tahoe, or as a destination to Auburn itself. We've had the pleasure of staying in both the Wrigley and Chana rooms. Both rooms have amazingly comfortable mattresses, pillows and linens. You can be sure to get a very restful sleep. The decor is modern, yet perfectly preserves the vintage look and feel of the space. Every room has a special charm! I cannot say enough about the innkeeper, Laurie. She always goes out of her way to make you feel at home. And, there's really nothing quite as great as waking up to the smell of her freshly baked cinnamon rolls in morning! During our last visit we got to see the newly finished landscaping on the property. The water feature, new lawn, and patio offer great places to sit and relax while overlooking the cute town of Auburn. One of the most unique and beautiful hotels I have ever stayed at. The Park Victorian is a rad 1800 era house that has been recently remodeled and transformed into a fun boutique Hotel with six rooms, each with their own charm. The house sits on a hillside above old town Auburn and the view is fantastic. The staff was friendly and accommodating. My husband and I stayed in the Wood room with our infant and preschooler and felt the space was totally family friendly. It would be perfect for a romantic getaway or friend adventure though too! The house also had an outdoor area to do weddings and it seemed like a great spot to tie the knot, rent out the whole place and throw a super hip party. We enjoy visiting Auburn and going to the many great craft breweries in the area. We will definitely stay here again next time we come to town. read more

I am writing this review as we stayed there this past weekend for our anniversary and were disappointed. Don't get me wrong it is a beautiful B&B but I don't think they should call it a B&B as all it was, was a room. There was NO breakfast and we NEVER were greeted when we got there at 3:00pm. We got a text saying help yourself to coffee or tea. We had to refill the coffee etc everyday. The inn keeper Laurie lives on the grounds in another house but never came over to the main house to check on anything. I understand we are just getting out of Covid but she could of at least let us know there will be NO breakfast etc. This is the whole reason we chose a B&B and not a hotel. read more

The Park Victorian is really something special, a total hidden gem, and an ideal local getaway. We stayed here for my friends birthday weekend. We live in the east bay, so this was far enough away where it could feel like you're out of town, but close enough to make it a great stay-cation. This B&B is located at the top of a hill overlooking downtown Auburn, where there are some great boutiques, antique shops, and restaurants. There is also a tattoo parlor in the space of Auburn's original mortuary. There is a lot of history in this little mining town, so even though the area may seem small in size, there seemed to be a lot to discover. Our agenda however consisted of intoxication and relaxation, so that left us little time for discovery. The rooms were very clean and charming. I love the decor and stylization of each room. For being an old Victorian home, and even with a few antique chairs and sofas throughout, I was pleasantly surprised that there were no weird smells or odors. Based on some of the previous reviews, it sounds like there have been some recent upgrades made as well as landscaping. The beds were very comfortable, which sounds like these were part of the upgrades. We went at the right time because we got to enjoy all of it. While relaxing in one of the rocking chairs, I couldn't help but imagine all the possibilities of returning to this venue for all kinds of occasions. It is a very romantic and relaxing environment. The service was impeccable. When we arrived, we were welcomed into the dining area by Laurie and Scott and greeted with the smell of sweet cinnamon and freshly baked cookies. You can tell that Laurie is very passionate about her hospitality craft. Each morning, she made fresh baked cinnamon rolls, a variation on egg strata, fresh cut fruits and berries, and fresh drip coffee of a local blend. They really made us feel at home by offering us extra wine/champagne glasses in the cupboards and letting us know to help ourselves to what was in the fridge. On our last morning we sat outside while enjoying our coffee and breakfast, and Laurie came to pour us fresh coffee once it was brewed as well as brought us extra plates of bacon! It started as an inkling, a nagging. Okay, a full-on desperation--I wanted to get away. Taking care of three children ages 5 and under--the oldest starting his first year in public school and the youngest starting his first year in Life--had me running ragged for most of last year. Arriving early to doctors' appointments just so I could sit quietly, alone in the waiting room wasn't quite cutting it as my busy-mom's spa day; I started dreaming of a real getaway. A vacation--no, MOMcation! No kids, no husband, even--just myself, a book, and a beautiful location for me to relax and recharge. Enter Park Victorian in Old Town Auburn. I stumbled upon this gem after googling "cute bed and breakfast Sacramento", and indeed, this remodeled old Victorian (see the before and after photos on their Instagram!) is the most charming place to stay! And Laurie and her son Scott, the innkeepers, were the perfect hosts. They have a warmth and genuineness that made me feel wholly welcome during my two-night stay, which I am confident will not be my last at the Park Victorian. Rooms and Decor The interior decor is an inspiring mix of modern and vintage Victorian; its six rooms all different and named after significant figures in Auburn's history. The common areas consist of the large dining room, kitchen, the parlor, and the outside patio areas. I had originally booked the Shannon room--the smallest room tucked into a corner of the upstairs but oozing with charm--but after Laurie, the innkeeper, learned that I was here on a momcation, she--a mother of four now-grown kids--offered me a free upgrade to any room I wanted in the house! Since I had, of course, pored over the website and taken the virtual tour countless times in eager anticipation for my trip, I knew right away that I wanted to stay in the Chana room on the first floor with its most gorgeous bathroom (that tile!) and original vintage chandelier and fireplace. The room was spacious and bright, and I had the most amazing sleep which I attribute to the luxurious bed (or the fact that I had zero tiny children disrupting my slumber at night). Though the room is right next to the kitchen, I did not hear a peep in the morning, even as Laurie and Scott prepared breakfast for us each day. Breakfast and Snacks Laurie made the most delicious mini southwestern egg stratas the first morning, and Scott made a hearty egg casserole the next. Both meals were accompanied by thick slices of bacon (I don't even usually eat bacon, but I had two pieces!), an assortment of fresh fruit, Laurie's grandmother's cinnamon rolls, orange juice, and coffee from a local roaster. Ingredients are all organic, and if possible, locally-sourced, which is one thing Laurie is very passionate about. In the afternoon, Laurie made fresh-baked cookies that she left out for us under a glass cloche on the kitchen counter. There is also an assortment of teas, coffee pods, Kind granola bars, and small candies for guests to enjoy. I was even told to help myself to fruit in the refrigerator if I wanted to! I believe part of the enjoyment of my stay was how at home I felt at Park Victorian! Location and Things to Do Park Victorian is located at the top of a hill in the heart of Old Town Auburn. It is a small trek down to little vintage shops, restaurants and eateries (A Pour Choice was actually a fantastic choice for coffee), and even a few local museums. A short walk away is Downtown Auburn, which touts more vintage shops (Vintage Redeemed was my favorite), used book stores, restaurants, and specialty shops (like Tucked In, where all of Park Victorian's beds are from). Park Victorian is by far the most charming place I have stayed, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a beautiful and unique bed and breakfast experience... or even just to get away from your husband and three kids. We were in Aubun for one night and found the Park Victorian on line. We booked online which was very user friendly. When we pulled up to the front , we were not quite sure what to expect. The exterior was being repainted as well as new windows being installed. We were wondering if we had made a mistake. However once we walked inside all our concerns disappeared. Laurie greeted us at the front door and she couldn't have been nicer. The interior of the Park Victorian was amazing! The kitchen was remodeled with stainless steel appliances along with every modern convenience . Each bedroom was impeccable and extremely comfortable. We woke up in the morning, greeted with the smell of fresh cinnamon rolls. We have stayed in 5 stars hotels all around the world and would return to the Park Victorian in a heart beat. We booked the Park Victorian because we needed a place to stay after our wedding celebration in Foresthill, CA. We were looking for something beautiful, upscale, but still keeping in mind the cost. When we found Park Victorian through our research, we knew it was the perfect place for our wedding night. The rooms were also reasonable for an upscale bed & breakfast. Throughout the booking process and leading up to the wedding, Laurie, the Inn Keeper, at Park Victorian was in communication with us to find out how they might make our stay more enjoyable. We were able to pick up our key early so that after our wedding we could go straight the our room without any additional check-in. We stayed in the Judah Room, and when we got there the room was exquisite. The bed the most comfortable bed we've ever slept on! The furnishings, decor and overall interior were lovely. The room was spotless and they even left us a special treat near our bedside. The following morning, we were delighted to discover a fine breakfast and local coffee prepared generously by Laurie at Park Victorian. We enjoyed the breakfast watching the sun rise on the patio overlooking Old Auburn. It was a memory that we will cherish forever. PS. When we were there (6/3/18) they were doing some landscaping work on the grounds. Expect this place to look even more amazing in the future! The owners and employees are so nice and go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay. They upgraded my wife and I from the Wrigley room to the Stanford room (most expensive) when they heard it was our honeymoon night.  When we arrived on the night of our wedding after the festivities had concluded we were greeted with cake and champagne in our room. The room itself was so roomy, cute, and trendy. They made the night truly memorable and the next day made us a delicious homemade breakfast which we were able to eat in our room. So disappointed! My husband and I were really looking forward to staying here because it looks so adorable in the photos online, but once I booked our room, it was incredibly difficult to get ahold of anyone to answer my questions. We were planning on staying there to attend a wedding as guests, and I needed to have some logistics planned out to see if this would be a suitable place for us to stay, such as if I could possibly get an earlier check-in, or what the situation was in terms of coming back to our room late after the wedding, or if there was a waiting list should an extra room open the night before as it appeared to be booked online. I went ahead and booked just in case because I didn't want to miss out on a room should it have worked out, but I needed to get the details ironed out as soon as possible. I called and left a message on the main line on a Friday. I missed the return call four hours later but was given a cell number to try. I called both the main line and the cell number back immediately and didn't get an answer. I waited through the weekend and Monday and got no response. I called both numbers again on Tuesday and received a text saying I would get a phone call back that afternoon. Never got a phone call and had to call both numbers again that evening. I finally decided to cancel as I was worried that if it's so hard to get ahold of anyone just to ask a basic few questions, I wasn't sure what it would be like customer service-wise to stay there. For the price of these rooms, I would expect better communication and a willingness to speak to your guests. read more

Our stay could not have been more enjoyable at this newly refurbished B&B. So new that they will incorporate any suggestions you make into their finishing touches. The exterior is still a work in progress, but don't let that turn you off. Once inside the threshold you are greeted by Laurie, who will treat you like a long lost friend, yet professional in every way. She also makes the best breakfasts. We just got home and we miss her already! The interior is a treat for the eye--luxurious, tasteful and comfortable. My husband and I had a little getaway at the Park Victorian after he came back from a 9 month deployment. I was unsure about staying at a bed and breakfast, fearing that we would be making small talk with strangers instead of reconnecting as husband and wife. Laurie was extremely understanding of this and accommodating. She provided us with privacy, sparkling wine, a mini cake, and personal table in our room. The patio was perfect for a delicious, private breakfast and the cinnamon rolls were the best I can remember having. We loved walking to the old town of Auburn and loved the bedding. This is a very special property. The renovation of the rooms and entire interior is phenomenal - the decor is very stylish and the quality of the renovation including hard infrastructure down the blankets and bedding is excellent. The location is right next to Old Town Auburn, and the Inn's partnership with Carpe Vino restaurant is a real gift - Carpe Vino will pick you up in a charming and efficient electric "cart." The service at Carpe Vino is top notch, and the food is very good. The chef puts a lot of care into the preparation and presentation of the dishes. The Inn is still under landscaping renovation, so that is something to keep in mind - please ask the Innkeeper about the status of the landscaping when you book. The breakfast in house is lovely, and the coffee is good. The Innkeeper was very attentive to detail including leaving a special treat for a birthday and getting gluten free items for breakfast upon request. If you like privacy, I would recommend some of the upstairs rooms over Wood where we stayed, as the windows look out on the public deck....But the room was lovely and quiet in the night, which is the most important thing. When i first drove up and saw all the work being done on the outside of the place, i was a little concerned, but the inside of the Park Victorian is gorgeous and the kitchen amenities are fantastic! It is walkable to cute and historic downtown Auburn with many great restaurants and boutique shops. The view at night from the front veranda feels like a postcard it is so beautiful and picturesque. It was also clear from my stay that the owners care about good customer service and a good experience, and did their best to make sure that i had everything i needed. i look forward to staying here again when i am back in Auburn. read more

My son and his now wife wanted to hold the rehearsal dinner here on 7/5/19. It's a really nice mansion and a working bed and breakfast up on a hill with a majestic view of the town of Auburn below. There's beautiful manicured lawns and a covered wrap around porch with nice furniture for sitting and talking. It comes with umbrellas that you can move to shade the tables (we rented 4 round tables and a number of chairs from Celebrations in Roseville, CA). Laurie and Scott are very friendly and accommodating and helped make this setting a big hit for our group. We had about 35 people and an open flame taco bar from Chando's to serve the taco bar style food. Heartfelt speeches were given on the covered porch by the wedding party with everyone enjoying the privacy of this setting vs. a restaurant with other patrons. We provided the drinks ourselves saving a lot of money vs. a restaurant. It was as if we had our own place there in this town which was a destination wedding for the bride and groom and families/friends. I highly recommend this place. read more
