Outside of being a gorgeous venue with endless options to give you the most beautiful and personalized day, Katie was an absolute gem throughout the entire process. Ok first of all like my last two reviews for this area let me say this was my first time in the auburn area and I really like this area!! We were just here for our cousins wedding and I really like this place over all we had this really nice young guy pick us up at the parking area and take us to the venue!! We got out where they had a table to take a picture and sign in lol very cool!! The outside area where the ceremony was really nice!! The. We went to a pool area with nice bar !! Very nice workers doing the bar and serving finger foods!! Then after a while they put us in outside dining area !! Very nice with dj . Then we had dinner that was pretty good!!! Only thing I would say is maybe get some out side heaters cause it was alil cold at night and even with fire pits heaters would have been nice!!! But over all it was a real nice place!! Absolutely perfect wedding venue! The couple that owns the place is super sweet and they did everything possible to make our wedding, and stay in the bed and breakfast, great! The property itself is beautifully landscaped and the owners are always finding ways to improve. They recently installed a permanent event tent over the reception area so you don't have to be as concerned about the weather. This venue also had the best bridal suite out of all of the places we looked! It was full of mirrors and had great lighting which made for stunning bridal photos. The lower ceremony site gets the perfect amount of shade for a 5:00 pm ceremony in the spring. Additionally, they have an extensive selection of decor, furniture, and games to choose from for your special day. Mike went above and beyond to help out on our wedding day (seriously). When I had a flower mishap in the morning, he went and fetched eucalyptus on his quad from a tree on the property, and when I didn't have a sign ready to go, I saw him with scissors in hand taking care of it! We hosted my baby daughters wedding at this venue. Mike the owner keeps the grounds beautiful. He met and exceeded everything we wanted in a venue. The sunset and view from the ceremony was gorgeous. The reception tent was the perfect atmosphere for the hosting our guests, and at night with the fire pits was wonderful. The guests really enjoyed the s'mores and activities that were available. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to have a perfect wedding. I heard nothing but compliments and praises on how beautiful the wedding was. I have no idea what my friend paid for this place but let me just tell you the experience was amazing! They have a perfect room to get ready in for the girls, it's basically a small salon. There are rooms to rent, which for your guests that you really want to hang out with late night, this is perfect! The owner was so helpful, was out there putting fresh bark down and making sure the ground looks perfect. He helped us with our bags, super involved, and really passionate about this venue. Absolutely gorgeous venue. The owners Mike and Cindy are a dream to work with. Very down to earth and genuinely kind people. They are very flexible and had accommodated us with all of our needs. Due to covid we had to postpone the wedding and they had worked with us to get everything moved over to the new date. The venue has a large storage of various decorations and wedding signs that can be used at no cost, the inventory is quite expansive and has nice items for use. Our guests absolutely loved all the different areas to take pictures since the whole venue is just so beautiful. There were lawn games put out (optional) which the guests enjoyed during cocktail hour. The venue comes with chairs (two color choices) and tables. There is a bridal salon on site in the villa. The villa also has 5 bedrooms for overnight use, at an additional cost. Although there is no dedicated groomsman suite, the grooms were able to utilize one of the rooms in the villa as the groomsman suite. The bedrooms are spacious and each room has its own bathroom. The property has a lovely pool and two different sites for the ceremony, depending on preference and party size. The reception site now has a permanent tent over it, so no need to worry about rain and weather. The tent is upscale in presentation. The owner also has a golf cart he uses during the ceremony to help transport people who need help getting up and down the hill (if that is the chosen ceremony spot). He also mandates a day of coordinator, and although I initially did not want to spend the extra money on that, I am so glad that I did. Our coordinator Raegan made sure everything ran smooth, helped keep us on our timeline, took care of little things, worked with our other vendors and took care of behind the scene problems, which in turn took all the stress off of me as the bride and let me enjoy our day. We rented 4/5 rooms in the villa and stayed there overnight with our wedding party. Once the guests cleared and we settled down, Mike got the fire started for us and provided us with pool towels as some us took a dip in the pool. Chose this venue initially because it is right across the road from our house, but it couldn't have been any better. The grounds are GORGEOUS and the staff so helpful and accommodating. Our son got married here and it was the best day ever. Lots of parking, great location for the ceremony and reception. Wonderful places for both the bride and groom and their attendants to get ready, and hang out to try and relax before the ceremony. I never write reviews, but the service was horrible. First off, I paid $6500 which is on the higher end of the spectrum. Initially, we were able to book the entire house the day after the wedding (one of the reasons why we chose this venue). However, on our next meeting, they inform us they double booked and they could not accommodate that to us anymore. Honest mistake but we got the short end of the stick. With that price point came a coordinator (another reasons why we booked them) that would help us through the process. As it drew closer to the wedding, we e-mailed the coordinator for weeks without getting a response. 2 weeks before the wedding, Mike (owner) e-mails us regarding payment and what felt like an "oh by the way... the previous coordinator is no longer with us and we signed you a new coordinator." To inform us at the timing and way they did was very rude and unprofessional!! Then, a couple days before the wedding, he tells us "you haven't paid for the insurance yet" and that "it was in the contract." Yes, It was only $225, but still, it would of been nice to be informed before we signed the contact. Also BE AWARE, this area is prone to have PGE turn off their power due to fire hazards. Yes, they do have generators but OF COURSE, we were not informed of this and could you imagine loud generators going on during your wedding?? The day before the wedding I believe in the e-mail he warned "you could have LIMITED lighting during the reception." Thanks for the warning... AFTER WE SIGNED THE CONTRACT." Day of our wedding, whats suppose to be a joyous day. I bring the alcohol early. Mike informs me.. "by the way, we don't allow anyone to take shots (of alcohol), and we stop serving the alcohol by 8pm!! I'm 32 and this killed the night. I booked the venue til 10pm. 7:50pm, they stopped serving the alcohol!!. My guest were not getting "rowdy" or "loud" and it would of been nice to have drinks with those closest to you on your wedding day yet we could not. I definitely WOULD NOT have booked this place if these RULES existed. Guess that's why they don't tell you until after. read more

Mike and Cindy at Gold Hill Gardens are great to work with. They were very responsive and incredibly helpful when we were planning our wedding. On the day, everything went on without a hitch. As stress-free as wedding planning gets. As for the venue itself, it is breathtaking. Our guests had so many nice things to say about the setting. We got married at the lower ceremony site, beneath the massive oak tree and next to a perennial creek. We made use of the bar area as well as the carousel horses under the pergola for an open-air photo booth (bring quarters -- they actually work!). Our photographer loved this venue because there are so many fantastic photo opportunities. One of the main reasons we picked GHG was the fact that so much of the decor was already on-site and included in the rental, such as: - outdoor games so our guests had something to do besides stare at us (ladder ball, giant chess & jenga, shuffleboard) - fire pits (we had s'mores as our favors -- a big hit!) - a lot of table decor options like wood rounds, lanterns, and candle holders (we didn't have to spend gobs of money for centerpieces that we'd never use again) - bistro lights and string lights in the trees surrounding the reception site. GHG has a recommended list of vendors, which really helped as we were planning this from out of the area. Lots of options and price points. They do require at least a day-of coordinator, which, honestly, is a wise investment. Bottom line, GHG was fantastic. Exactly what we were thinking for our wedding. We recently had our wedding at Gold Hill Gardens (Aug 2014). I had a hard time finding an affordable venue with everything we wanted in Placer County, but GHG popped up on yelp. (Special consideration for serving home brew and having our dog there for photos/set up) They weren't open yet when we visited, but Mike and Cindy showed us the plans, and let us know their schedule for completing the modifications to the property. Everything was done on time, and beautiful! They were very accommodating and let us visit a few times before the wedding to lay everything out, tour it with our caterer/coordinator. Every time we visited Mike and Cindy were always so nice, offering water, something else to drink or snacks! Cindy's dream bars are great! We were able to have our rehearsal there the day before the wedding. Our dog had a blast hanging out in the creek during the rehearsal and while setting up for the wedding! We were able to crate him for our ceremony when he needed to be put away. (no dogs in the B & B which is totally understandable!) Mike was super helpful in communicating what the B & B had available for us to borrow/use for the wedding day and the rules were all clearly laid out in the contract. We had early check in for the bridal suite- and when we arrived at 10am Mike and his staff were busy setting up the tables/chairs, Cindy was baking amazingly yummy goodies in the kitchen! With Mike/staff's help + my wedding coordinator all I really did was unpack the car, show how I wanted things set up and then they did it all. Mike even offered to pulled a tractor out to hang lights in the tree by the dessert table, I was like wow, that's amazing but sounds like a lot of work, if they wanted to that'd be amazing but I was just thinking of stringing them around the trees. 5 minutes later here comes the tractor! Mike really goes the extra mile to make their property look beautiful for you! So I was mostly inside getting hair/make up done, or wondering around with my pup just checking in with everyone. Everything was ready to go for our 5pm wedding early! Our wedding was beautiful. Mike took us on a wheeling adventure across the creek so we could walk across the bridge for the ceremony. (he dodged the sprinklers and cows so we didn't get wet- which was pretty funny and honestly made me loosen up before the ceremony! which I needed!) Throughout the wedding Mike and Cindy were so helpful with our DJ, coordinator and caterer, giving a helping hand when needed! They worked with us too on having a babysitter there for some of our guests, mostly they played on the upper lawn, had dinner with everyone, then watched a movie on my laptop. When music went off at 10pm, they even helped us clean up a few items. We all hit the sack that night and slept really well! Mike and Cindy were up super early the next morning making a spectacular breakfast for us and our guests. They even accommodated the extra guests we invited for breakfast. Breakfast was delicious and served on the B & B patio. Afterwards we all cleaned up and were able to get out of there completely by about noon! I'm really excited to see this venue progress, they've got great plans for the future. And we'll definitely be back! I'm really happy we were able to find them because otherwise we would not have been able to have our wedding in Placer County where we live- I really wanted to show our family what a lovely area it is! I know many of our guests stayed in Auburn and enjoyed Old Town, the farmers market and some wine tasting on the Placer County Wine trail. FYI- if you have your wedding down by the creek, you may get bugs/crickets in the layers/on your dress, just flick them off, and don't worry about it, they don't show up in photos. And once you leave the creek area they all drop off and you won't have any pretty quickly. read more

My husband and I had our dream wedding at Gold Hill Gardens in March of 2015. We booked GH in August 2014 without any expectations for venue improvements and Mike and Cindy really outdid themselves by the time our wedding arrived. They had put in a new walkway, new landscaping and an awesome lawn chess set that turned out to be a huge hit. Our guests loved the chess set and so did our photographers because the lighting around sunset is just perfect at that spot. GH also set up horseshoe pits, a corn hole game and a fire pit for our guests to enjoy during our cocktail hour and reception. Mike and Cindy are such great, friendly people who really want you to have the kind of wedding you have been dreaming of. Additionally, their property is beautiful and we took the most stunning wedding party photos down below the pool, by a large oak tree. Our ceremony location was up near the house and had a beautiful view of a foothill ridgeline. The ceremony site was very close to - yet shielded from - the bride's suite which made for an easy grand entrance. I had six bridesmaids and the bridal suite is quite spacious for getting ready, photos and the suite has a huge bathroom. GH also had several different ceremonial arches to pick from which was really nice since they really have something for everyone. Our wedding at GH was so beautiful! This venue will always have my heart, my wife and I got married here in September 2015 and we had an amazingly beautiful wedding. Everything went smoothly and as stress free as possible. A lot of that has to do with how fantastic Mike and Cindy are! We Booked Gold Hill Gardens in June of 2014, between June 2014 and September 2015 we had made multiple trips up to show the venue to our family members, see the changes they had made and without ever having a problem. Mike and Cindy were always accommodating to whatever our needs were. They were always quick to respond to emails or questions and kept great communication with us and our venders over the many months of planning. The property alone is gorgeous, they keep this property very well landscaped and are always making improvements. Everywhere you look there is a picture perfect area, great for wedding photos. We choose to have our ceremony on the lower area of the property under the beautiful tree near the bridge (so beautiful) but they do have a lot of different options for ceremony locations on the property. The morning of the wedding (we had a Saturday wedding) we got there bright and early (8am) to start setting up (we had a 4 pm wedding). Mike had told me they had a wedding scheduled the day before, so I anticipated possibly having to wait for them to finish cleaning up, but NO ! Everything had already been cleaned and our table layout had already been setup, on top of that the bridal suite was cleaned and ready for the bridal party to start getting ready by 11 am! Mike helped us setup for the wedding and made sure the venders knew where to go and what to do. Mike and Cindy were up early the morning after the wedding and had breakfast for us and our guests. We all sat on the patio talking about the amazing night. We really can't thank Mike and Cindy enough for all they did for (and during the planning process) our special day. Everything ran smoothly, no hiccups and no issues. They really want your day to be as special as can be and we felt like they went above and beyond to make sure that happened. My daughter just married last weekend at Gold Hill. We were a little concerned about the weather since we just had the wettest May in a very long time but ended up with a perfect day. Mike and crew were very accommodating, the venue was extremely beautiful and the wedding went off without a hitch. I read some of the comments from other reviews about the music levels and do NOT agree with the their comments that the level was too low. On contrary, it was great. My sister got married here this past weekend - from the start Mike and Cindy were excellent. They were helpful, accommodating, and their venue is beautiful. The house is perfect for the bridal party to stay in and get ready. Breakfast in the morning was perfect. The younger man who worked at the venue was also awesome- he was extremely helpful, and even used the golf cart to help transport our older guests down the hill! I would absolutely give them 5 stars but for the reception. If you want dancing at your wedding, I would not recommend this venue. The music has to be extremely low - so low, we had a hard time hearing it, and we only had 100 people at the wedding. Mike was extremely rude to our DJ, even threatening to shut down the wedding if he didn't continue to turn the music down. He was constantly running in and out of the reception area with his decibel meter. Mike also has a statue of a cop that he would constantly move around as to... remind us we're being watched??? Not sure what that was about. The unprofessional behavior seemed out of character for how we experienced Mike previously, which is unfortunate because other than what happened at the reception, we would definitely be giving this venue 5 stars! So moral of the story - if you want to have just background music at your wedding, this is the perfect venue. All the sound info is in the contract, but like most people, we had no idea how low 60-70 decibels is. So if you want more of a dance party at your wedding, avoid this venue!!! read more

We read through all the negative reviews and I can honestly say that we did not experience anything like that on our big day. I have nothing bad to say - this place gave me my dream wedding. They are thoughtful and courteous, but most importantly they will treat every person that walks onto their property with the respect that they deserve. Attended a wedding there this past weekend...The venue is absolutely beautiful...My only criticism is that of the music requirement of 60-70 decibels...Do you realize that that is the loudness of a conversation held between two people who are only 3 feet away from each other?! This is a ridiculous requirement and if you want to have dancing or for some of us older folks, even HEAR the music, this is not the place for a reception...I would give the location 5 stars but the music which is a large part of a reception and the owner's constant running around checking a one star and will settle for a 2 star as I really think 60-70 decibels is ridiculous. Gold Hill Gardens was one of the first venues we looked at on our search for the perfect venue. We loved the place, everything was absolutely beautiful. During the time of looking I was going to school and my fiancé and I were both working so we had a limited amount of time to look at other venues. At the end of the tour, my mom asked Mike if he would think his prices would go up and he told us no. 8 weeks later after looking around and fitting into our busy schedules we wanted to book with GHG. Mike said their price went up due to renovations. We explained that we asked him during the tour of the venue if the prices would change and he said no. My fiancé called him up to see if they would at least honor their word. They were a little rude about it and wouldn't even try to be accommodating. It's not like we waited 6 months later to book the venue. So, my fiancé and I decided that GHG wasn't the venue for us due to not honoring their word. read more

They do have a noise ordinance that doesn't is imposed by the county but it was not a problem for us at all. Our DJ was easily able to stay below the noise level and the guests on the dance floor couldn't tell that noise restrictions were in place. My wedding was held here on August 20, and I can't say enough kind things about Mike and Cindy (the owners) or rave enough about the venue. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, but besides that, Mike is SO helpful with setting things up and assisting on the big day. He also has many decor-type items onsite that he allows couples to use (window pane sign for seating chart, shepherd's hooks, misc. signs, rustic wood centerpieces, etc.); what's more, he took my now-husband and me, and our photographers, in his personal car to a special spot at the venue for sunset photos and brought us watermelon rinds so we could feed the cows. The property makes for a lovely setting for a magical day--the layout is perfect--and all of our guests continue to tell us how much fun they had and how it wasn't a basic, cookie-cutter-type wedding. I would definitely recommend booking Gold Hill Gardens for your special day--especially if you're looking to get married somewhere that's not a typical "wedding mill" place, and if you're looking for a space that you can use as a canvas to make it your own. Had our wedding here on Aug 29th 2015 and it was absolutely amazing. The venue is so beautiful that you don't need that many decorations. Mike and Cindy are the nicest wedding venue owners. They want brides and grooms to have the most perfect wedding day and will let you do anything you want! If you want your dream wedding, then this is the place to book! Their main goal is to make sure that you are happy and they want you to have your dream wedding! Mike is always quick to answering emails. Ray, the awesome guy that helps Mike with set up is probably one of the nicest guys I've ever met. He's awesome. That's the only way to describe him. I don't know why there are bad reviews about the music but those reviews aren't true. The music was perfectly loud and we could most definitely hear the music with no problem and we had 140 guests! I highly recommend staying for your wedding night because it is so romantic in the bridal suite and it's so much better than staying in a hotel! Mike and Cindy also make you breakfast the next morning and it is absolutely amazing. They set up a table on the patio and it's the most relaxing breakfast you will ever eat. We got married here a few weeks ago (May 2016), and couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue. Mike and Cindy are lovely people, an absolute joy to work with, and amazingly accommodating as business-owners. Everything we asked for (and we asked for a lot!) was considered thoughtfully, and we felt that they truly bent over backwards to try and work with us on every last detail. As examples, we brought in food trucks, hosted our own open bar, had 8 people stay the night, had 30 people at brunch the morning after, had a last minute RAIN prediction that necessitated scrambling for a tent... and many more unforeseen or challenging issues crop up. Every single time, we felt that Mike and Cindy were on our team, really working hard to accommodate our priorities and make our event as special as possible. The only small issue we encountered was the local noise ordinance requiring the party to end at 10pm (which we of course knew about in advance, and which in the end didn't matter at all - everyone was exhausted by that point!). The grounds are magnificent, the house itself is a beautiful, relaxing place to get ready for your big day, and every last detail is just perfectly thought out and executed. Guests continue to tell us that ours was the most beautiful wedding they've ever attended, and that is in no small part due to the gorgeousness of Gold Hill Gardens. Just had a tour of the grounds and home and WOW, what a spectacular place for a wedding, reunion or just a nice weekend getaway! The views were incredible and you could tell that the owners have poured their passion in to every detail! The home was absolutely beautiful and comes with the price for the bridal party. This venue is amazing and Mike and his wife were the nicest people. My fiancé and her bridesmaids stayed the night there on the night before the wedding and were treated very well and had a great stay. Mike helped them and helped me bring things over into their room the day before they were supposed to stay. We arrived late from our wedding night in a limo at around 11:30 on Saturday evening, and Mike was there waiting for us and was so nice to us and congratulated us. They even put a just married sign on the door to our room, and the room was gorgeous! Mike offered us to go swimming that night since no one else was there which we did. The next morning we woke up and Mike and his wife made us an amazing breakfast with French toast, omlets, fresh fruit, and pastries. They are extremely friendly and such a pleasure to stay with. We are already planning on going back to stay again. The bottom line is that anyone who stays here will have an amazing night and this is the ultimate bed and breakfast experience for us. read more

Just booked our wedding here with Mike. He is extremely laid back and easy to work with. He gives his clients the ability to plan their own wedding and doesn't have any preferred vendors that we have to go through. The bed and breakfast house looks amazing and can't wait to stay here. The grounds are under construction but should be done in the next few months. The grounds are beautiful with multiple locations for weddings. He has plans to expand to add other locations on his property for weddings. He allows the guests to play corn hole, shuffle board and darts. The bar is a cool area and the catering area has industrial freezers and the bathroom is plumber so its more convenient than an out house. Will post another review after the wedding, but do not see any issues that are going to arise. read more
