    garden/breakfast details

Loved staying at The Seasons! Robyn was a wonderful hostess, and the home/grounds are really pretty, it feels like staying in a nice home (with cool history!). This is the perfect place to stay in Placerville - the location couldn't be better (walking distance to everything you'd want to see downtown but on a quiet, leafy street with easy parking). Some of the rooms are pet-friendly, and even our large German Shepherd was made to feel right at home - Robyn kindly allowed him to run around the gardens freely, which he loved. She has a long history with the Humane Society and is genuinely happy to have a pet around, so we really felt comfortable and welcome. Robyn has an excellent eye for detail - from really pretty accessories everywhere to some Chanel toiletries and rose-scented hand soap, I really appreciated all of the interesting/nice little details (check out the photos I added). The grounds and the home are really well taken care of. No TVs in the rooms, but we enjoyed sitting in the garden talking and reading. Breakfast was delicious! We had two different quiche flavors to choose from (meat and vegetarian - the goat cheese vegetarian was my favorite). Most of the food was local (cider from Apple Hill, Placervillian cherries, etc.) and just so, so yummy. Having breakfast in the garden was a really wonderful start to the day. There were always newspapers and magazines in various locations, as well (again - nice details). We shared tips about cool things to do in the area with two other guests, and Robyn had plenty of fun stories to tell, as well. Everything is just in fantastic condition, looks great, feels welcoming, and makes you comfortable right away. I'd definitely stay at The Seasons again!

Outside of the seasons on August 31, still pretty grounds despite the drought!

My wife and I were married here in 2007, and we were in the area after 7 years. I was glad to see the Seasons was still a B&B and holding weddings. I have never stayed overnight, but our family did and really enjoyed the site. The location is perfect for a wedding, especially if you want to be outside in the summer. It's was much cooler than Sacramento, and only about 45 minutes. Great location that was easy for family, reasonably priced but most importantly is the fact that the owner handled south and helped us out making sure we were prepared.

Amazing that you can get this kind of accommodations at this price. Room was great, food was delicious and the hostess was very friendly.

We really enjoyed taking photos in the beautiful backyard!

We stayed in the Stone Pine room, which is one of the smaller rooms, but it was a good enough size for a couple, had a private entrance, and did not share any walls with other rooms. Very peaceful and quiet. Keep in mind there was no cell service in this room (Verizon), due to the more secluded location, but the wifi worked great. The star of the show were the outdoor soaking tubs, which really made the experience so special. The tubs are more like bathtubs than jacuzzis, with temperature adjustments which was perfect for being pregnant, and no yucky chlorine smell after. Amazing! The breakfasts were delicious each day and part of the magic of the bed and breakfast. Breakfast was delivered to the room promptly and the owners were willing to accommodate my dietary restriction. Coffee/tea was available via Keurig in the rooms (Starbucks and Peet's pods) with plenty of cream and sugar options. The only downside to our stay was that we ended up having to lose our *full* pay for an expensive massage package due to a personal medical emergency. I am not docking stars on this rating because I understand they are running a business, we signed the policy, etc. This is just my personal opinion on a unique situation for you as a potential guest to know. Because they contract out for their spa services, just beware they do not have a forgiving policy. I happened to have a horribly timed medical emergency at the time of our massage. The masseuses were already onsite and we felt terrible, but I was physically unable to get the massage and needed to go to the hospital promptly. We informed the owners what was going on every step of the way, and they were kind and understanding in the moment given a bad situation. However, I was disappointed they offered no support with brainstorming a potential reschedule (we were willing to pay more), offer a partial refund, small future discount, etc... nothing. It was honestly just crickets from them and seemed to be unsaid that it was not their problem. This might come down to personal opinion, but it felt cold and dampened our experience. I ended up having to be the one to reach out to the owner via text, and again in person when we returned to the Inn to inquire about a reschedule or any support with the matter. The owner stated there were no slots available, no refunds, and cited having to put strict policies in place due to people in the past missing massages for arriving late, oversleeping, etc. Again, this just felt cold considering the terrible morning scare we had, which clearly was different than just being irresponsible. This kind of humanity in hard situations is what sets certain businesses apart for me in extenuating circumstances, and keeps guests coming back. Other than this, we had a wonderful stay and would choose to revisit the Eden Vale Inn given all the other great and accommodating features of our stay.

The hotel is undergoing renovations, but based on what we saw, renovations won't fix the real issues. Our room looked like a quick patch job. The walls had mismatched white paint, the shower didn't drain properly, and the shower curtain had an unpleasant smell. The iron in the room was broken and leaking water. Several wall outlets looked worn out and honestly like a fire hazard, so I was hesitant to plug in my phone. The windows opened fully, which isn't typical for hotels, so that was surprising. There were no luggage trolleys available, and the elevator was not working, which made moving bags in and out a hassle. The worst part was waking up at 8 a.m. to loud construction happening directly above us. No warning, no courtesy notice, just walking around and banging early in the morning. On the positive side, the room did have a microwave and a fridge, and the water pressure was strong, but the shower still didn't drain. Overall, this stay was disappointing, uncomfortable, and not worth the price. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

With a players card they also give a discount on meals in the cafe, I don't know about the buffet. I gotta stop here since it's along my travels. I'd like to try their buffet sometime. They do a pretty decent job of keeping the smoke at bay from people that smoke. I decided it was snack time so why not get a bite before resuming my drive.. I ordered some fish & chips, it was the decision between that or loco moco, their version of loco moco didn't sound too appealing. The fish came out fairly quickly, it was quite nice, crispy coating and actually see and taste fish in the middle instead of a lot of batter. I gotta travel everywhere with my malt vinegar, they had heinz malt vinegar amd I can tell you that's one of the malt vinegar brands I detest. The chips/fries were okay, I wouldn't order it but it did come with the order. The fries looked good but the weren't as crunchy on the outside as I would prefer. This casino is worth another visit for sure.

Rooms are reasonably priced during the week, but I feel they are overpriced on the weekends.

She acted very suspicious of me almost blaming me for having other people who are going to sleep there, which wasn't the case at all. Then she l ask me accusatorial way if I had a dog. Then she said, do you even have a car? Of course, I had a car. The next day, I was about to check out and got a call from her saying that the housekeeper smelled marijuana in my room. The housekeeper never came into my room. The housekeeper was banging on my door at nine in the morning hence checkout at 11. I opened the door a very small crack and she was standing several feet from the door and I said I'll be out at 11. I know she didn't like that. The whole marijuana thing came from just judgment and profiling me having long hair and her knowing that she could try to charge me a deposit for her already nasty ass room. The front desk owner lady had already made all this up and the housekeeper never said anything about marijuana. The beds are dilapidated. The carpet is disgusting. The room looks like a prison cell. The plumbing doesn't work, sinks are all stopped up. The bed I swear was from 1965. The curtains and decor looked like something from that 70s show. The curtains had to be 50 years old.
