My husband and I are locals to the area. We thought we'd stop in to see the new hotel and have a drink and some of what they are calling 'tapas.' My review is below.
Pros: Beautiful, modern look. Love the furniture, love the extended stay option on the upper levels, location is great, love the idea of another place to go have a drink with friends even if not staying there. Drinks were good and presented well.
Cons: We ordered the mac&cheese, meatballs and what they called crispy potatoes. The mac&cheese was Kraft box mac&cheese and it was dry. We thought we would be getting some yummy cheesy shell type mac&cheese. The meatballs were tiny like the frozen ones you get in the freezer isle at the grocery store. They were dry which made us think these were freezer meatballs. The 'crispy' potatoes were the potatoes Marriott serves at breakfast time!!!! I'm not joking. They were not crispy and had no flavor. We thought we'd be getting real potatoes with seasoning etc. Marriott, this is Folsom CA. We are foody peeps. If you do not get your food game right, you will not bring in the people. The food was terrible. They also had no protein other than prosciutto. They need chicken with their salads, chicken skewers of some type maybe, something. Also, the bathrooms are on the other end of the hotel, not a huge deal, just a walk from the bar. However, inside these beautiful bathrooms there are no toilet seat covers!!!! YUCK!
Again, hotel was beautiful and we are glad they came. Always love a new spot, even if a hotel, to meet friends for a drink. However, please get a chef who knows how to cook! Food is very important in this area. We want actual 'tapas.' Not food you just have laying around. Thank you! read more
