We reserved the Rio Vista suite along with the attached beach bungalow so each had our own rooms downstairs. The back slider opened onto a sandy beach area with gorgeous views and a pool. We took day trips to Grass Valley and Placerville and had an amazing time. Spent the last half of our last day there sitting outside, looking at the views and enjoying the sunshine. The owners are amazing... They delivered breakfast to our doors each morning and boy were they delicious. I am definitely bringing my husband back so that he can enjoy this place and the surrounding areas as much as I did.

While it's a bit of a distance to the actual venue, it was well worth it for the quiet, calm and very relaxing environment. Beautiful property and I wish I had time to use the pool outside. We stayed in the Bella Vista honeymoon suite. I loved it. It allowed my husband and I to talk. There's a calming and clarifying vibe to the room and the place in general. Spacious, clean, and comfortable. I would stay here again if I was in the area 100%. I think about this place from time to time. I actually miss it!

Although you fill like your way out in the country you can actually walk to old town by using the walking bridge. We met inside where Bonnie checked us in real quick. Then we got a tour with Bill. He is sooo super friendly and kind. Just a genuinely nice host. Some people act nice but it is professionally cordial. I didn't feel that with Bill, or Bonnie. (Sorry don't mean to leave her out ) Bill gave us great recommendations for wineries and we were able to wine taste with fee waived at 2 wineries we visited. We also got discounts on wine! The places were so chill and relaxing. Beautiful, quiet, relaxing, just what we wanted. I texted Bonnie a few times and she always got back to me super fast. Bonnie also is a wonderful baker and she made a super nice breakfast each day. Bill would refill your OJ and tell you to have a seat as he got coffee refills. When Bonnie was done cooking she came out and then I got to pick her brain about our meals. I love talking food . She was really nice as well and easy to talk to. They are literally around the corner from Abels Farms and are right in the heart of apple hill. Both wineries were no more than a mile away. Rooms are decorated very cute, with different themed rooms. All the amenities are there. Robes and slippers in the closet, a hot tub in a gazebo, and the room was nicely renovated with quality materials used. Super great stay and I recommend them highly.

My husband uses a mobile scooter to get around. When the elevator came is was grossly uneven with the landing. The woman who check us in showed us a trick to get it flesh so he could get on & off. Not horrible, but time consuming. We got to our room, it's been slightly updated since the 1800's. The owner has not flipped the switch to allow AC. We were not told this so I set the AC to cool only to find out I had turned the heater on!! I couldn't get the window open at first. When I finally did I realized there was no screen! It's too old and dated for my liking. The bathroom floor is not even and slants terribly. Next time I will hunt down a different hotel for sure!.

We drove in completely unaware that we were about to discover what would become our gemstone, our true getaway. The property is deeply tranquil and serene. Evenings are spent around fire pits with a glass of wine, surrounded by silence except for the sounds of nature. We've baked apple pies from their orchard, enjoyed endless peaceful nights under the stars, and--by the generous allowance of the property owners--explored the land on their ATV simply to wander and take it all in. What truly sets this place apart is the people. Linda and her husband Jim make you feel like family. When I call and say I need a getaway, they always find a way--even during blackout dates. That kind of care is rare and meaningful. Trisha, who maintains the property, is phenomenal, and the grounds are always immaculate. This is a very, very gorgeous retreat tucked right in the middle of Placerville, yet it feels worlds away. Part of me wants to keep it a secret--but it deserves to be known. The bartender Beka was so sweet and did an amazing job. Everyone absolutely loved her! The cabins were very clean and so cozy. Having everything all in one place for the wedding was so much less stress and Shadow Ridge Ranch was the best place to do it. I can't thank them enough for making our day so beautiful, special and fun. The reception was a BLAST and we danced the night away. The way that the property is set up was perfect! It's about a 5 minute drive from downtown Placerville. When we arrived, we were greeted and given the tour. Our room had a little snack picnic basket, freshly cut flowers, and even a water dish for our dog. When we returned from town after dinner, they had left little chocolates and dog treats on the bed. We also were offered wine and a chocolate torte. This place is not a fru-fru high class establishment. It is a homey, comfortable place. I was comfortable, well-fed, well-looked after, and completely relaxed.
