We recently spent 5 nights in the Pancho Villa Room at Seven-Up Guest Ranch. When we arrived, we were greeted by the Innkeeper, Janet and by Oscar, the owner's friendly Australian Shepherd (the ranch mascot IMO). Janet had some fresh baked cookies and some lemon rosemary infused water ready for us at check-in. Janet was a welcoming hostess, both friendly and accommodating. She called to arrange a last minute reservation for us at a local restaurant the Friday evening of our arrival (a busy evening in the area), demonstrating what a close-knit, community the Fairplay/Somerset area is. She gave us some good tips on the local wineries, as well. The room was quiet and comfortable (comfy Cal King bed). The cabins have the creature comforts conveniences of home (a/c, mini-fridge, coffee maker) but are secluded on the rolling, tree lined hills. We enjoyed being mostly disconnected from the internet (Verizon LTE service was good but we limited our use). We relaxed, enjoying the scenery, hiking around the 146 acre property, wine tasting and enjoying the area attractions (Kennedy Mine, Downtown Placerville, a day trip to Lake Tahoe). There are many things to see and do in the area, but relaxing and enjoying the outdoors was the biggest part of the attraction to Seven-Up. It was like being with nature (but with a cozy room). Each morning we had coffee on the front porch of the cabin, listening to the birds sing, and each evening we retreated there for a bottle of wine watching the sun fade behind the trees and mountains. We did not want to leave. If you are looking for a low-key, quiet escape, close to nature, look no further than Seven-Up Guest Ranch. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are planning to return next summer. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. First off, the images on the website don't do it justice. This little hideaway ranch is absolutely amazing. It was cozy, comfortable and perfect for our honeymoon getaway. Janet the innkeeper is so sweet. Very helpful and a wonderful cook. Wish we could have stayed longer. Oscar the dog quickly made friends with our dogs, running around the property. So nice to have a space for them to venture off without worrying about them getting lost.The views from our cabin were beautiful... and the location is ideal... close to all the best wineries in town!! Charming & serene! We enjoyed our stay in our cute rustic cabin..So quiet and relaxing, no TV no wifi, just sitting on the porch sipping wine listening to the sounds of nature. To bed early in the big comfy, cozy bed. Then up to the main house to be greeted by Janet, whom makes you feel like family. I'm not really into big country breakfasts, but I ate everything she set in front of me, it was all made even more delicious by topping everything with her homemade salsa! She poured herself a cup of coffee, sat down with us for a most entertaining conversation, she's funny and I don't think she knows it! I arrived kind of stressed but left full and with a smile on my face. We joined a wine club near the ranch, so we will be back! read more

Stayed the night at 7up ranch after attending a wedding at one of the near by wineries. Didn't get to take full advantage of the location but had a very relaxing evening and a lovely breakfast before driving home. Comfortable bed, clean rooms, and cricket sounds in the distance at night. T mobile had no service but sprint did. Was able to download a book on my kindles 3g. If I'm ever up in this area again I would stay here again. read more

We have been to this area numerous times for wine tasting and wine club pickups, but this was the first visit here for my man and I. Seven Up was highly recommended by a dear friend who was with us; he had visited here previously, with his girlfriend. The three of us came mid week for area wine tasting, and were able to book a double plus single cabin on very short notice. What a wonderful happening, this! There was only one other group of 3 there, a husband and wife and her sister from the Bay area (awesome folks!). So it was the 3 of us, the sweet Bay area family, and Janet, the ranch hostess. Janet is the real deal! She's real, personable, has an absolute connection to this area, and made some of the best home made breakfasts I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying! Janet is well known in the area for her fresh, home made food and delicious soups, (which we will return to try in the Fall and Winter, for sure). The cabin was clean, cozy, comfy and efficient for a couple + single, and oh, so quiet. Saw deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, quail, cattle from a nearby farm...and a enthusiastic skunk. The first night, my man and I and our pal moved chairs off the porch beside the cabin to better see the stars and drink a glass of wine...absolute nirvana. Mr. Skunk paid a visit to us after dark, was kind enough not to full on spray, but gave a short chase to our friend, who ran off somewhat alarmed, into the dark. I swear, as a relatively low tech old fart, if there had been a video of this, it would have gone completely viral! Our pal returned winded and unscathed, about 5 minutes later, and we all laughed as heartily as we ever had in our entire lives! All was well in the end....the point being that Seven Up is in REAL, beautiful nature. That, and the genuine folks we met and really talked with, listened to, and related with, is truly what I love about Seven Up. You bet we'll be back. read more

I can't rave enough about this unique B&B at the heart of a rustic yet up-and-coming wine region known as Fair Play/El Dorado County high up in the Sierras just outside of Sacramento. As we first drove down the long private gravel road toward the main lodge, we were greeted by wild turkeys, deer, and quail as they leisurely crossed in front of our car. We were then warmly greeted by the proprietors, Phil and Joy, who offered us glasses of wine and even offered to fix us something to eat if we were hungry after our long drive up from L.A. They then showed us to one of their cute cabins with a wraparound porch, which held a wonderfully comfortable four poster bed with a quilted blanket, a sitting area, and modern amenities such as a microwave, coffee maker as well as an updated, spacious bathroom. The next morning we woke up to a gorgeous sunrise and deer grazing in front of our window, and then we walked over to the main lodge for a delicious hot breakfast complete with eggs, sausages, homemade scones, fresh fruit and swedish pancakes, and then we were off to the local wineries for winetasting. If you are looking for a quaint, relaxing getaway, I would highly recommend a stay at the 7 Up Ranch! read more

The Seven Up Ranch is a delightful bed and breakfast. I have stayed there 3 times in the past 3 years, and each visit has been exceptional. The cabins are clean, comfortable and well decorated. The husband and wife owners, Nick and Mindy Rosetti, are very friendly and accommodating, and they are both very good cooks! The location in the Eldorado wine country foothills is beautiful and serene. I already have plans to stay there again next year. read more

Just returned from a wonderful stay at the Seven Up Ranch in Fair Play, Ca. I had never been to the area and never even heard of Fair Play, Ca., before this visit. The B & B is great! Really cool western themed cabins nestled in beautiful oaks and madrone. Very gracious and generous hosts are the new owners Linda Rossetti and her son Nick. We stayed here for one night on a recent trip to visit the El Dorado wine region. Everything about our stay was perfect! I received a call back from Mindy within minutes of leaving a message inquiring about a room to stay in. Upon arriving at the ranch, we were greeted by Linda (and her dog, Cassidy) with cookies and ice cold water. There are 3 small cabins, each with two private rooms (and bathrooms). We stayed in Room 1, which was clean, spacious, and charming! The property, which I believe is about 145 acres, is absolutely beautiful- we saw so much wildlife! It was a very peaceful and relaxing stay. The breakfast that Nick and Linda cooked was incredible, they even took into consideration any dietary or allergy restrictions, everything was delicious! We would love to stay here again if we are ever back in the area, and will highly recommend this place to our friends and family! read more

We stayed at 7 Up Guest Ranch in October 2014, and without a doubt experienced one of the finest displays of hospitality ever. Linda, owner and innkeeper for the weekend, was warm, gracious and caring, as well as a fantastic cook, to boot! We truly felt like we were guests at an old friends home. The rooms are set up like a duplex - 2 per building - and each room is nicely furnished with its own bath and porch with great view. Breakfast is included and served in the main house. Our family spent a weekend here as our base for wine tasting at the local wineries. The rooms were large with small fridges, microwave ovens and coffee pots. Beds were comfortable and the porches were perfect for visiting or just enjoying the scenery. Our hostess was extremely friendly and made a wonderful fresh and delicious breakfast. When one of the wineries we visited called her to let her know one in our party had left a hat behind, she drove to retrieve it for us. What a nice thing to do. This is the perfect place to unwind, get away from technology, and enjoy the delicious wines and great people of the area. We will definitely go back on our next visit to the area. read more

Several members of my band stayed here because we were performing a show at one of the local wineries. This place was perfect for us. The rooms were neat, spacious and kept cool with really good air conditioning. I slept really well in the bed which was very comfortable. Janet was the manager there. She was really friendly and personable. The breakfast Janet prepared for us in the morning was excellent. We will definitely be staying here again when we have a show in the area. read more

We are frequent visitors to Fairplay but never have stayed overnight. Were we ever in for a treat this weekend when we were guests at the Seven Up Guest Ranch. This ranch is owned by Nick, his wife, Mindy, and his mother. During our stay Nick was the innkeeper and he was fantastic! He pulled out all the stops for us and made us feel very welcome. The rooms were quaint and cozy, the view breathtaking, and don't even get me started on the amazing breakfast! I was also lucky enough to chat with Mindy on the phone while booking and she was as sweet as can be. We hope to meet her on our next stay. We are anxiously looking forward to possibly renting out the entire ranch this summer so we can share this amazing place with family and friends. Keep up the great job! :) read more

Love the Seven Up Ranch! Its a peaceful and beautiful place to stay, nice cabins and very accommodating. Mindy was so helpful by giving me suggestions for wineries in the area and after asking about car service to take us to wineries, she recommended a DD for hire. It was so fun, love that area with the boutique wineries and meeting the owners. Nick was there to greet us and make sure we had all we needed. He made us a wonderful breakfast the next morning and took time to fill us in on the history of the ranch and his families plans for the future. We had a friend visiting us from Ohio and she too enjoyed the stay so much she called me when she got home and said we gotta go back there! We stayed at the 7-Up Guest Ranch last month, and were thrilled with our stay! I read the reviews about the ranch before making my reservation, but was still a little on the fence about it. All of my fears were calmed as soon as we checked in! Nick was very friendly, and made us feel very welcome. I felt like I was at home in the cozy cabin that we stayed in. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the linens were very clean and fresh smelling. The room was in great shape, and was very clean as well. The property is beautiful and sits right next to a vineyard, so you are surrounded by beautiful nature and animals. My husband and I got up early and made coffee from the Keurig coffee maker that was in our room, and took a nice stroll around the property which was lovely (I highly recommend!) We hope to visit again very soon! read more

Right in the heart of the wine country of El Dorado County. A group of us spend a weekend a year here, tasting wine and enjoying the hospitality of the ranch (booking all 6 of the rooms). Nick is the ultimate host - his breakfasts are legendary! The setting is idyllic - overlooking a pasture and oak covered hills. The rooms are decorated in a ranch theme, rustic but roomy and clean. No tv's or wi-fi, just peace and quiet. We spend time enjoying the porches. They are very accommodating, letting us use their kitchen for our dinners. read more

We traveled from Modesto, Ca and met good friends from Reno, Nv for a 2 night stay here. Our friends had been here before and suggested it for some wine tasting and a quality visit. Dave was our host. We were greeted with lemon water and cookies!!! He made sure we were comfortable, our rooms were okay, and that we had everything we could possible need.
