My wife and I returned to The Inn at 161 again this year.Kerry and Mary are such great hosts and care about making your stay the best experience that they can.We had a different room, #3 , which not only had a fireplace, but a claw foot tub/shower!!! Once again the accommodations were excellent, well maintained rooms and out side areas. The continental breakfast was very accommodating, coffee, cappuccino, espresso?? They offer a great breakfast area, bagel station, fresh fruit, yogurts, pastries, and great seating areas to enjoy your choices of each! We were able to walk to the downtown area and a couple of wine tasting ( olive oil as well) locations.Tried a couple of new restaurants, and still favor Teresa's Italian, hard to beat for food and ambiance! We did try a great local pizza restaurant, Gold Dust......one of the best pizza ever!! We enjoy everything about The Inn at 161 and their attention to detail, we promise to return as soon as we can--until then we wish you Blessings galore!! Ron and Debbie

This is one of those cute places off the main road that we have driven past for many years. For our anniversary this year, my husband booked two nights here. It's not only beautiful, but the managers were so friendly and fun. They made everyone feel at ease! They have a lovely wine and charcuterie each evening, and a nice light breakfast bar in the morning. The decor is beautifully Victorian. It was so quiet! Most of us staying here we're middle aged, but there was a wedding party of cute younger people who were very respectful. I have to say, we have never stayed in a cleaner place. Everything down to the floor was spotless. We will definitely return many more times! Loved our stay!

May I say, AMAZING!! My husband found this little piece of heaven online for a really good price! We stayed 2 nights during the week and once we arrived the host greeted us right away and got us all checked in! The room was so fresh and clean and just beautiful. Like home away from home! I wasn't even scared to sleep on the sheets or use the pillows or blankets provided because the lien's were so clean and fresh (I typically bring my own pillows and sheets and blankets on any trip I go on. Yes I know, I am weird but I am a germ freak lol). In the morning, she provides a nice Continental breakfast to all her guest. The breakfast consists of yogurt parfaits, boiled eggs, bagels, and cream cheese, oatmeal with brown sugar and cranberries, and a nice hot cappuccino. Boy that was such a nice start to our day! My husband couldn't even wait for breakfast to come in the morning the night before. That's how good it was. Now the ONLY suggestions we have is, maybe providing a two-step little bench for the bathtub because it has such a high side to it that it's kind of hard to get into the tub because you don't have anything to really grab on to or hold on to getting in and then when your exiting the tub, the floor is a bit far down so you kinda lose your balance as getting out of the tub if you're not prepared for it. I did loose my footage and caught myself by the sink. Thank goodness. Now we stayed in room #3 and the bed was super and I mean super soft and you sleep in a indentation in the mattress where others have slept over and over so maybe it's needing a new mattress or maybe a flip. One last suggestion, maybe putting a small radio in the dining room on low playing some Frank Sinatra or some oldies but goodies for breakfast so it kinda breaks up the silence in the room and helps people fill comfortable carrying on a conversation with each other. These are just a few suggestions we thought we would share. We just want to say from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU so much for the wonderful stay and we will be back very soon to enjoy your beautiful Bed and Breakfast!!

This was the perfect Valentines getaway! The host is amazing and upgraded our room! The inn is within walking distance to downtown Sutter Creek and many wine tasting rooms! We had a King room with a fireplace! The bed was super comfy, and the fireplace added the ambiance! Breakfast was outstanding, it's the best continental breakfast I've ever had! We will definitely be coming back!

My son and I stayed there for two nights over the weekend and it was marvelous! I work very hard, long shifts in healthcare and I'm in graduate school. I rarely get time away, let alone an entire weekend. The staff at the inn made our stay very special. They were so welcoming and attentive. The afternoon reception and charcuterie tray was a nice touch and the breakfast spread was great. I'm sure the wine was lovely too-I just don't drink. In the morning the staff made espresso drinks to order (which is more up my alley) and the bagel toaster was really neat. The house itself is gorgeous as was our room. My absolute favorite part (and my sons) was the working fireplace in the room (it had a gas insert which worked very well). I would recommend going in the cold months so you can take advantage of this cool feature. I loved the k-cup machine in the room too. All the rooms have flat screen t.v.'s equipped disney+ and Netflix accounts (awesome, right?) and the wifi works well. There is only one drawback it's the fact that you can hear everything going on in the adjacent room. I could clearly make out what my neighbors were saying, particularly when they were in their bathroom. I believe much of the sound was coming through the vents. I wonder how they would have felt knowing someone could hear what they were saying lol! Awkward...We were in a downstairs room and it got pretty loud when the people were moving around upstairs. Especially when they were getting ready at 5:00am in the morning and packing their bags. That's the price you pay for hardwood floors in all the rooms-there is no sound insulation between the floors (maybe bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper). So between the upstairs neighbors and the people next to us it got pretty loud, but I didn't care. I don't mind knowing there's people and life around me. If I wanted sound insulation and a padded stuffy room with gross wall-to-wall carpeting and no character I would go stay at the Best Western. The inn is located very near downtown Sutter Creek and we walked to Main Street several times a day for brunch and dinner. I love strolling around historic Sutter Creek and looking at all the beautiful buildings and Victorian homes. The inn is located directly across the street from the sweetest little white chapel and I loved looking out the window at it and transporting myself back in time. We also strolled down to the creek and spent time in the lovely little park down by the water. We walked to the coffee shop Backroads every day and had the best home baked cookies I think I've ever had. The inn also has charming grounds and gardens which I imagine are lovely in the spring and summer. Our weekend getaway to the Inn at 161 and Sutter Creek was a memory I will cherish forever. My son is growing up so fast and these special time together are invaluable to me. Thank you.

Each room at the inn (14 rooms total) are different. The website shows pictures of each room so I thought I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. I knew I did not want a swinging bed so we went with John's room. They tell you to park on the street and come to the front office to check in and then they show you where to park. On a Friday afternoon the street is pretty full and the spaces are very tight, but we did find a space. When you get to the house, there is no office or any place to go. You press the ring camera and someone walks from behind the house out to greet you. The gentleman walks you to your room and the key (on a large keychain) is hanging in the door. He walks you in and tells you a little bit about the room. In our case he showed us how to use the fire, the mini-split (Heating / HVAC) and where to park. The parking lot is behind the Inn and it is very small. It does not have 14 spaces, and if it is full you have to try and find parking in the alley. Because of this we decided not to move as we were able to park in the lot and we were scared to lose parking. When we took ourbags to the room, I realized that there is very little counter or storage space, not only in the room but in the bathroom as well. In the bathroom you have very little space to put your items. The "closet" that has no door is also very small. The head of the bed is about 4 feet from the toilet and you are looking right at it. The bathroom is pretty old and very pink. The towels are not very soft but the water did get hot pretty quickly. The bed itself is very uncomfortable. The mattress is very hard and every time one of you moves you both feel it. We did not sleep well either night. In this room, there was a mini keurig coffee machine and they provided coffee and creamers. There is also a small mini fridge. There are 2 chairs in front of the fireplace and a chair and small couch at the end of the bed. There are also a lot of books. With all of these things in the room, there is very little walking space and from the other side of the bed to get to the bathroom (especially in the dark) is like an obstacle course to not stub your toes or knees. The property is very quiet and there is an ice machine outside by the front lawn. However there is no breakfast or food available at the Inn. I really was hoping to have a great time, but by Saturday afternoon we were ready to leave. I just did not want to be there anymore. My husband convinced me to stay as we already had dinner reservations for that night, so we did. When you leave, you place the key outisde in the door handle and leave the property.

Our suite (one of five) was absolutely stunning. The Innkeeper (the first of three amazing Innkeepers) had the gas fireplace lit, and wonderful instrumental music playing, as she showed us our suite. The food was phenomenal: gourmet breakfasts, 5:00 wine and cheese, and homemade cookies in the evening. My favorite part was the patio with a fire pit overlooking the vineyard. We stayed in the Stone Pine room, which is one of the smaller rooms, but it was a good enough size for a couple, had a private entrance, and did not share any walls with other rooms. Very peaceful and quiet. Keep in mind there was no cell service in this room (Verizon), due to the more secluded location, but the wifi worked great. The star of the show were the outdoor soaking tubs, which really made the experience so special. The tubs are more like bathtubs than jacuzzis, with temperature adjustments which was perfect for being pregnant, and no yucky chlorine smell after. Amazing! The breakfasts were delicious each day and part of the magic of the bed and breakfast. Breakfast was delivered to the room promptly and the owners were willing to accommodate my dietary restriction. Coffee/tea was available via Keurig in the rooms (Starbucks and Peet's pods) with plenty of cream and sugar options. The only downside to our stay was that we ended up having to lose our *full* pay for an expensive massage package due to a personal medical emergency. I am not docking stars on this rating because I understand they are running a business, we signed the policy, etc. This is just my personal opinion on a unique situation for you as a potential guest to know. Because they contract out for their spa services, just beware they do not have a forgiving policy. I happened to have a horribly timed medical emergency at the time of our massage. The masseuses were already onsite and we felt terrible, but I was physically unable to get the massage and needed to go to the hospital promptly. We informed the owners what was going on every step of the way, and they were kind and understanding in the moment given a bad situation. However, I was disappointed they offered no support with brainstorming a potential reschedule (we were willing to pay more), offer a partial refund, small future discount, etc... nothing. It was honestly just crickets from them and seemed to be unsaid that it was not their problem. This might come down to personal opinion, but it felt cold and dampened our experience. I ended up having to be the one to reach out to the owner via text, and again in person when we returned to the Inn to inquire about a reschedule or any support with the matter. The owner stated there were no slots available, no refunds, and cited having to put strict policies in place due to people in the past missing massages for arriving late, oversleeping, etc. Again, this just felt cold considering the terrible morning scare we had, which clearly was different than just being irresponsible. This kind of humanity in hard situations is what sets certain businesses apart for me in extenuating circumstances, and keeps guests coming back. Other than this, we had a wonderful stay and would choose to revisit the Eden Vale Inn given all the other great and accommodating features of our stay.
