This is a lovely hotel. Recently renovated, but they absolutely kept the charm and look and history of the hotel. Every single person that works here is so kind and friendly and helpful. From the front desk staff to the bartender to the breakfast staff to those cleaning the rooms...everyone went out of their way to help us with whatever we needed. We will absolutely be back!

We had a great stay here. I'm a hotel snob, so I usually go for the modern 5-star places, but I decided on this hotel with history in Jackson. It has a great history with folks like John Wayne and Teddy Roosevelt staying there. We were given a quick tour of the downstairs by Christine, the bartender. Apparently, John Wayne lost $47k playing poker there. !! Christine took excellent care of us while we had a beverage and dinner at the bar. Christine makes a fantastic Old Fashioned by the way. I had a burger with fries and they were great. Highly recommend you stay at the National if you're in the area!

Wonderful boutique hotel that has recently partnered with Hilton in the Tapestry collection. It has some fun, interesting history. We enjoyed our short stay there. They are just getting their bar downstairs up and running again

We loved our stay at the National Hotel last weekend. The hotel rooms are lovely--recently renovated with comfy bed and linens. The bathroom was large with both a soaking tub and separate shower (and a generous number of nice towels) in our king suite. There were two sitting areas with nice antiques and lots of room for the two of us. Our only regret is that we didn't stay a second night. But we will be back!

The National Hotel in Jackson is an historic hotel, perfect if you are tired of cookie cutter, chain motels. However, historic also comes with a lack of modern conveniences travelers have come to expect. We rolled into Jackson and immediately encountered obstacle #1: there is no obvious place to park for checking in. The hotel is in the middle of the downtown with no dedicated parking. Asking inside, we were directed to a public parking garage around the block, which has a walkway back to the hotel. Not a short walk, but not far either; still not great as it was raining on arrival. We were a little dubious about the garage given the numerous warning signs of limited parking for a few hours only or you would be towed! They pooh-poohed this at the hotel, saying the police understand the hotel uses it; nevertheless, it was a disquieting feeling during our stay. The room was charming and although antique, everything was in top condition. The hotel said they had "spotty Wi-Fi" - this translated to zero Wi-Fi. Also, the TV was small, and there was no refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, or a table in the room. No available ice either. No USB connections; plugs on each side of the bed and near the window. Large gap below the door, so you could hear noise from the hallway clearly. On the plus side, the location downtown is perfect for exploring Jackson, and the bakery next-door is to die for. However, shops were mostly closed Tuesday and even some on Wednesday when we were there. It was fun wandering around the hotel admiring the variety of artwork from long ago, one painting was from 1892. The free breakfast was wonderful with hot food choices and more. And my wife couldn't get enough of the heated bathroom floor. It ended up being fine for a couple days stay, but the limitations make it hard to give the National more than an "OK" rating.

    Hall way going to room.

National hotel is homey feel and cozy vibes. Their free breakfast was variety of food to eat and drink. We would stay again. The hotel is historical and built I think in the 1900s. One more thing was they have a back door for you to use of coming in & out of the hotel and the elevator is right when you walk in the door very easy to use

We had a wonderful time at the National Hotel, from the front desk person (Tamara) to the lovely balcony overlooking historic Jackson. Can't wait until our next visit.

The National Hotel !!! What a interesting hotel in Old Downtown Jackson. I mean the location could not be any better. The online pictures of available rooms appeared much larger than what we were given. However, our room 202, did have balcony access that made our tiny room much more spacious. The rooms would be considered 'time dated' & carried the early 1900's theme. Showers, sinks & linens were obviously upgraded to a contemporary design. Our bed was slightly lumpy & after a 2 night stay the mattress felt sunken in. That's fine by me, but it did bother my lower back after checking out. Also, the rooms are quite insulated from outside noise with our AC running with worked excellent. Our TV had a plethora of channels to fall asleep to & didn't hear any neighbors or patrons for the bar on the other end of town. There was no fridge, so we relied on our Frat-Boy method of cooling perishables with ICE in the sink. lol. Note to visitors BRING A COOLING BAG OR ICE CHEST. Breakfast was awesome thanks to The National Hotel. In fact, every staff member was extremely nice and friendly. Parking was available in the rear 2 level parking below the police department. Breakfast at 'the Blue Door' which is directly north east to the main doors was TERRIFIC!! Serbian breads & pastries complemented the continental Coffee provided by the National. Old DT Jackson is pretty neat. It reminds me of small county town would might encounter in Italy or Europe. Very quiet atmosphere & in a way you have the whole area to yourself. My wife & I would consider ourselves Adventurous & enjoy historic buildings with character and the National Hotel was just that. If you think that sorta describes your level of fun, by all means stop in for 1 night.

We loved our stay here at this hotel over Christmas in this quiet town overlooking a wonderful Christmas decorated Main St. After having car trouble in the mountains we ended up here unexpectedly and were thrilled with how nice everyone was, the amazing old brick buildings, tiny shops packed with antiques and excellent restaurants. Our room was beautifully done and very comfortable. The staff were helpful and nice. It was great to wake up to windows overlooking the Main St. and be able to just walk out and have an excellent breakfast at a nearby cafe, then stroll the shops. The con - the "continental breakfast" is about the same as most places, not recommended, but it was nice to have a supply of waters, utensils, fruit, etc., available all the time. However the price was good for a place this nice so we were happy to go out to have breakfast. [As an aside, I'd thought this was a locally owned business, and it was, but turns out this hotel was closed for a year (lockdown) and the previous owners had to sell it, so apparently they will be a Hilton - too bad! Apparently they will not change it, But that's what the lockdowns did: shift so many great businesses out of the hands of families and into the hands of multinational corporations, which is why we cannot allow the lockdowns to ever happen again or we will lose all of our Main Street's all across the nation! Even the WHO said lockdowns did so much damage to lives across the world that they should not be done again.]

Set in old town Jackson, The National Hotel is a historic building that's decorated in the Victorian style. It was built in the mid 1800's and artifacts from that era, such as pictures, paintings, and trinkets, are displayed proudly throughout the hotel. It has the modern conveniences of AC, security camera (quite a few), and modern appliances. While the rooms are small, they are comfortable. The king sized bed was deliciously soft and the pillows, fluffy like a cloud. I sank into the bed and had a fitful sleep. They do offer continental breakfast and this was the only area that I found was lacking in any way as it wasn't kept fully stocked during the hours of operation.

No offer to look for a downstairs room, just, that was it. Fortunately my mobility issues are not critical (yet), but my impression of this place, where I had stayed twice before, became more so. The place was reasonably quiet, and if you set aside the fact that all upstairs and downstairs doors to the halls were apparently open all the time (no security locking) and the guy blowing copious amounts of dope, which wafted down the halls from the staircase landing, everything was just peachy. The room was clean and well appointed though. The Denny's next door had gone out of business.

Upon going to my room, it was discovered someone's hair was all over the bathroom area floor. I wiped up what I could with the anti-bacterial wipes. The bathroom floor had dirt on it. The shower curtain when wet did not stay closed.... Both sides moved down to the center of the shower bar. Either the shower rod was installed poorly or it was damaged. The shower fixture was installed poorly and was sagging sideways. The bathroom door appeared to be an exterior door... The floor in the main room had some leftover stuff on the floor.... The mattresses were tired and saggy. The door to the room was dirty; I wiped it down with an anti-bacterial wipe. No cover on the door peep hole, so I stuffed wet tissue in the hole. The room was dark. One lone light bulb in the corner of the room.... The night stand light was constantly flickering.... There was a small bug on one of my pillows.... I noticed there was no scent from cleaning products. The last Best Western I stayed at, I smelled bleach. Not a great scent, but a scent someone would know where cleaning took place. The sheets and towels did not smell clean; they smelled with leftover odors. A couple of good things- the water pressure which was nice, and Brenda's professionalism and welcoming spirit. I could not check-out fast enough to get away from the dirty tired room. I do not recommend this Best Western. PS On a side note, some of the staying guests were smoking outside the areas where we would walk to get to our rooms, meaning the area between each building (A to B). Not enjoying the second hand smoke....

Each room at the inn (14 rooms total) are different. The website shows pictures of each room so I thought I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. I knew I did not want a swinging bed so we went with John's room. They tell you to park on the street and come to the front office to check in and then they show you where to park. On a Friday afternoon the street is pretty full and the spaces are very tight, but we did find a space. When you get to the house, there is no office or any place to go. You press the ring camera and someone walks from behind the house out to greet you. The gentleman walks you to your room and the key (on a large keychain) is hanging in the door. He walks you in and tells you a little bit about the room. In our case he showed us how to use the fire, the mini-split (Heating / HVAC) and where to park. The parking lot is behind the Inn and it is very small. It does not have 14 spaces, and if it is full you have to try and find parking in the alley. Because of this we decided not to move as we were able to park in the lot and we were scared to lose parking. When we took ourbags to the room, I realized that there is very little counter or storage space, not only in the room but in the bathroom as well. In the bathroom you have very little space to put your items. The "closet" that has no door is also very small. The head of the bed is about 4 feet from the toilet and you are looking right at it. The bathroom is pretty old and very pink. The towels are not very soft but the water did get hot pretty quickly. The bed itself is very uncomfortable. The mattress is very hard and every time one of you moves you both feel it. We did not sleep well either night. In this room, there was a mini keurig coffee machine and they provided coffee and creamers. There is also a small mini fridge. There are 2 chairs in front of the fireplace and a chair and small couch at the end of the bed. There are also a lot of books. With all of these things in the room, there is very little walking space and from the other side of the bed to get to the bathroom (especially in the dark) is like an obstacle course to not stub your toes or knees. The property is very quiet and there is an ice machine outside by the front lawn. However there is no breakfast or food available at the Inn. I really was hoping to have a great time, but by Saturday afternoon we were ready to leave. I just did not want to be there anymore. My husband convinced me to stay as we already had dinner reservations for that night, so we did. When you leave, you place the key outisde in the door handle and leave the property.

The room was cozy with a couch that pulls out to a bed and of course the king size bed for additional guests. Bathroom a was a little small with a shower but was clean and good for just the two of us. The bed was comfortable and bedding was warm and cozy. There are several outside spaces to relax or have a bite with your group, and each room comes with its own front patio area with a private bench. There is also a volleyball net, horseshoe pit, grill, spit and plenty of lawn to enjoy other activities. There is also a creek at the back of the complex, which unfortunately dries up this time of year but I can imagine is very relaxing when flowing. Our room came with a queen bed, table and 2 chairs, refrigerator, air conditioning, cable tv, private shower and bathroom, pantry, and plenty of drawers and shelves. The motel is clearly on the older side and has plenty of character and charm, but it also is a bit worn. As it was very clean, I wasn't bothered by the "antique" look. There was one small issue. Bugs. As it was about 100 degrees outside, there were several small bugs sneaking in the air conditioner. Again, we weren't really bothered by this as the bugs didn't bother us and we woke up the next day bite free. It must be noted that the owners of the Motel (which should change the sign on the side of the road to "Inn") were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had a small issue with our dog and the curtains, and they were more than understanding and appreciated the fact we alerted them and offered to pay for the damage. We traveled into town for a special occasion and he happened to be checking in a day before me. I went with him so I could scope out the area and get familiar before I check in the following day, and I was honestly so disappointed. I made a comment to the front desk that I would be checking in the following day later in the night and asked if I could have a room that's relatively close to his for safety reasons, but the person checking him in said that all rooms were near each other since there's only 2 floors... For a place that has a sign that says if we need anything to feel more comfortable to let the front desk know the attitude and response of the front desk really threw me off. The room he was given was located on the first floor; once you opened the door the entire room smelled like mildew and cigarette smoke. We literally had to open the windows both in the room, and the bathroom, along with the front door and blasted the AC on to get some of the smell out. Well, this place does provide shampoo, conditioner, lotion, a bar of soap, and a toothbrush, please note that they do not provide body wash. The room does come with a mini fridge, but please be aware that if you sit at the little office desk that they have in the room, it might go down. I sat on it and was waiting for him and then it abruptly drop me down multiple times. I didn't get hurt, but I just think it's something people should be aware of just in case. There was some staining on the singular chair that was in the room, along with the bedsheets. The room I was given was on the second floor, which was a little bit better in terms of scent, but not much better as a whole. Keep in mind that there's no elevator here, but there is a staircase so if you have heavy luggage, plan accordingly. There was some staining on the wall, a black mark on the shower curtain, the bathtub was dirty, and the sink made weird noises when I was running the water to brush my teeth. I should also note that two of the towels that were in my room ready for use had small stains on them. There is a chair outside of each room on the first floor and every single door on first and second floor has an ashtray outside so just be aware that this place heavily smells like cigarette smoke. If you just need a place to get in and out this place will get it done for you... But if you're used to and prefer a little bit more comfort, try somewhere else. Breakfast is very limited and runs out very quickly.
