Didn't catch in pic but the line of ants in the bathroom was awesome.

Walking into the office was like walking into someone's armpit that hadn't been washed in a month. I didn't want to stay here. But emergency and mandatory evacuation from fire left no choice. You'd think the office lady would be a bit nicer to a family displaced by fire. But no. It's clearly about the pocket penny. The room (as you can see in the pictures) is absolutely disgusting. No need to write further about that. Just look! 10 am the next morning we have house keeping banging on the door. Check out is at 11. Why TF are you yelling to get in to clean?! It's not like you ACTUALLY ever clean this dump anyway!! I'm embarrassed I share a town with this establishment. They do not represent the people of Placerville or El Dorado County. Do not come here or support this junk yard. Stay at the Carey House.

What. This looks like it came over on the mayflower

One star Becuz you can't give 0 or - Expedia was how we got this horrible lodging. We paid $200 and was only there 3 hours. It's a crap hole. I wouldn't recommend driving past let alone renting a room. It's so disgusting. And they have no respect for themselves or their customers. They won't give us our money back. I have never been to such a disgusting lodge. I thought Expedia was a reputable company and they backed their businesses. Well. I would like my $200. Back. We weren't there any amount of time. We were so uncomfortable and disgusted. Expedia should check what they have on there app. You should stand behind your customers and do what's right!!!!!! I would like my $200 back. This is bad business. Shame on you.

The room I stayed in had holes in the walls, but worse than that, when I called to ask about my deposit, the owner began to literally scream at me over the phone, calling me an illiterate, stupid American, and unintelligent, and a variety of other degrading names, all because I could not to understand him through his heavy and thick Indian accent. It was the worst experience I had ever had and I can't believe how abusive this man was on the phone, to a customer, no less. He wouldn't stop screaming at me for asking about the deposit, and I started crying. Please do not give these horrible people your money. They are rude, have NO customer service, and are hateful and despicable people. No one should treat ANYONE that way, much less a customer.

I strongly suggest guest read the reviews before booking these rooms. The operators own both Mother Load Lodge and Gold Trail motor lodge. Both my father and I searched for hotels in Placerville via a simple Google search on the drive from SoCal. The prices ranged between 70-80 dollars. We booked a room via Expedia clearly indicating there were 2 guests. The charge was 88 dollars after taxes. We explicitly put in the notes that we request 2 separate beds. Upon arrival we were asked to stay at the Mother Load Lodge because they didn't have two beds available at Gold Trail. We drove next store to check in. The total charge to my card was $157.80. They increased the price to $107.80 PLUS charged another $50 dollars deposit. The women was EXTREMELY RUDE and completely unaccommodating. It was to late (10:30pm) to dispute the charge and find some where else to stay. I gave them a two because the rooms were clean.

The new wing on the right. You won't see this sign from the road rather you'll see a white horse.

The main building was gutted when we visited last year but there were 3 other buildings around it. We stayed at the newly remodeled rooms to the right of the main building. New, clean and comfy. Front desk persons were very nice and accomodating. We're definitely staying again for our yearly Apple Hill trek.

Hair on the pillow cases that did not belong to me

If I could give it zero, I would. Just checked out of this shit-hole not 3 hours after arriving. I was in town for one night Training for a new job and had the "pleasure" of booking here. It's just one night. It can't be that bad, right? WRONG. There was hair on the pillow cases (ALL of them) that did not belong to me. Upon inspection of the sheets, there was black residue smeared all over the inside. The shower was filthy and it made me itch just standing inside, and the questionable characters outside didn't make the place seem much better. I turned and booked it first chance I got. Save yourself a step and book somewhere else.

David and Karen, the owners, are so sweet and welcoming. The inn is dog friendly, as there is a fully functioning outdoor patio area you can eat meals at. There's also a fire pit that's gorgeous at night, and plenty of bird feeders. If you enjoy birdwatching, this is the place as there are a variety of different feathered visitors that come by this naturally beautiful retreat. If you're looking for a peaceful, romantic, and memorable retreat, Eden Vale Inn is your place! Would definitely recommend.

We stayed in the Stone Pine room, which is one of the smaller rooms, but it was a good enough size for a couple, had a private entrance, and did not share any walls with other rooms. Very peaceful and quiet. Keep in mind there was no cell service in this room (Verizon), due to the more secluded location, but the wifi worked great. The star of the show were the outdoor soaking tubs, which really made the experience so special. The tubs are more like bathtubs than jacuzzis, with temperature adjustments which was perfect for being pregnant, and no yucky chlorine smell after. Amazing! The breakfasts were delicious each day and part of the magic of the bed and breakfast. Breakfast was delivered to the room promptly and the owners were willing to accommodate my dietary restriction. Coffee/tea was available via Keurig in the rooms (Starbucks and Peet's pods) with plenty of cream and sugar options. The only downside to our stay was that we ended up having to lose our *full* pay for an expensive massage package due to a personal medical emergency. I am not docking stars on this rating because I understand they are running a business, we signed the policy, etc. This is just my personal opinion on a unique situation for you as a potential guest to know. Because they contract out for their spa services, just beware they do not have a forgiving policy. I happened to have a horribly timed medical emergency at the time of our massage. The masseuses were already onsite and we felt terrible, but I was physically unable to get the massage and needed to go to the hospital promptly. We informed the owners what was going on every step of the way, and they were kind and understanding in the moment given a bad situation. However, I was disappointed they offered no support with brainstorming a potential reschedule (we were willing to pay more), offer a partial refund, small future discount, etc... nothing. It was honestly just crickets from them and seemed to be unsaid that it was not their problem. This might come down to personal opinion, but it felt cold and dampened our experience. I ended up having to be the one to reach out to the owner via text, and again in person when we returned to the Inn to inquire about a reschedule or any support with the matter. The owner stated there were no slots available, no refunds, and cited having to put strict policies in place due to people in the past missing massages for arriving late, oversleeping, etc. Again, this just felt cold considering the terrible morning scare we had, which clearly was different than just being irresponsible. This kind of humanity in hard situations is what sets certain businesses apart for me in extenuating circumstances, and keeps guests coming back. Other than this, we had a wonderful stay and would choose to revisit the Eden Vale Inn given all the other great and accommodating features of our stay.

The hotel is undergoing renovations, but based on what we saw, renovations won't fix the real issues. Our room looked like a quick patch job. The walls had mismatched white paint, the shower didn't drain properly, and the shower curtain had an unpleasant smell. The iron in the room was broken and leaking water. Several wall outlets looked worn out and honestly like a fire hazard, so I was hesitant to plug in my phone. The windows opened fully, which isn't typical for hotels, so that was surprising. There were no luggage trolleys available, and the elevator was not working, which made moving bags in and out a hassle. The worst part was waking up at 8 a.m. to loud construction happening directly above us. No warning, no courtesy notice, just walking around and banging early in the morning. On the positive side, the room did have a microwave and a fridge, and the water pressure was strong, but the shower still didn't drain. Overall, this stay was disappointing, uncomfortable, and not worth the price. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

I ordered some fish & chips, it was the decision between that or loco moco, their version of loco moco didn't sound too appealing. The whole marijuana thing came from just judgment and profiling me having long hair and her knowing that she could try to charge me a deposit for her already nasty ass room. The front desk owner lady had already made all this up and the housekeeper never said anything about marijuana. The beds are dilapidated. The carpet is disgusting. The room looks like a prison cell. The plumbing doesn't work, sinks are all stopped up. The bed I swear was from 1965. The curtains and decor looked like something from that 70s show. The curtains had to be 50 years old.
