Been in this river several times, but to the resort itself- we had a wonderful time! On our first night, we slept with no beddings which we should have been told. Walmart is about 17 mins fr the resort but its okay. Support after hours are through text only, in which they are very responsive

We visit this place annually. The bridge you drive over before turning into the resort is a bit sketchy, but it's no problem if you take it slow. As of June, the resort has been making some nice renovations. The front gate is being upgraded to a nice decorative metal one with cobble stone accents. The old store in front of the gate where you check-in has been demolished. The new store for check-in is the white building to your left after driving through the gate. This resort parallels the American river, which is nice for fishing and other water activities. If the river isn't your thing, they have a swimming pool. The resort gives you a sense of feeling like you're in the Forrest. You can find some slower water to play in down towards the end of the resort where tent camping is located. I took a short video of the area and posted it in the photos. They have RV sites, tent camping and cabin camping. They offer a variety of different size sites and some sites can accommodate rigs up to 45'. If you select a river site, one thing to note is no sewer hookups. There is one dump station locate next to the general store. If you want full hookups, you need to select any site other than the river side. I believe everything is 30amp, so don't forget your adapters for 50amp people. Each site has a metal fire ring and a wooden picnic table. The cabins are nice. If you're looking for something a little different and kind of cool, they offer wagon rentals. The wagons have been converted into overnight rooms. They have also built some nice new cabins towards the top tier. There are two playgrounds. One is next to the swimming pool and the other is near the end by the tent camping. There is a small grass area on the top tier with two small soccer goals. There is also a child size chess set located near the front of the resort in the outdoor recreational area. If you want shaved ice or ice cream, they converted a small airstream into a little parlor. It is called The Silver Bullet. A couple things to note. River sites are probably the most difficult availability. One thing Coloma resort does that is pretty cool is give priority to re-book for the following year. So, if you rent a specific site and like it, you can rent the same site for the same dates the following year. You would need to book immediately at the end of your trip. If you do not, they will open up the spot to the general public.

I've been coming here since I was a kid, almost every year for the gold rush reenactment. They have done lots of work, some is good, and some, not so much. I guess the old store burned down, which is shame because the new store has none of the charm, and about a tenth of items, as the old store. There used to be way more little nicknacks and kitchy camping gifts and things. They also got rid of the chicken coop and the little old west town. All the old facades of blacksmith shop, banks and hotels are gone. Not a single place to take corny old times photos and that's a shame. On the positive side, they have expanded a lot! Where a ropes course used to be they now have all sorts of lodging options. There are little cabins, glamping tents, bunk houses, a full cottage with deck, tent spots, rv spots and even two covered wagons. It is not cheap, but they have really cleaned up the property and we saw the crew cleaning leafs and taking trash constantly. It's right in Coloma on the American River, so you really can't be the location. It will get cold in the winter, but that doesn't stop people from rafting.

This was the location we chose for our inaugural camping trip in our new camper, and we've returned twice - all within April to August. The grounds are impeccable maintained and absolutely gorgeous. Be sure to snag a riverfront spot - the sunsets will blow your mind. There are staff members everywhere zipping around on golf carts tending to cabins, campsites, and common areas (i.e. bathrooms, pool, social areas). This campground runs like a machine and it shows! Everyone is SUPER FREAKIN FRIENDLY and all of our neighbors we've met each time were lovely and seemed so happy to be there. The ONLY thing we wish we could change is the check-in time. Currently set at 3pm, it seems a bit late considering check-out is at 11am. 5 stars, though. We will always camp @ Coloma Resort!

Wading just feet away from our tent

First time campers here. We camped in a tent space right on the river with direct access to a beautiful spot with clean, shallow water to wade and safely swim in. The bank is lined with beautiful blackberry bushes. The resort was very nice, quiet, well maintained and had nice, clean bathrooms. The grassy area has the most relaxing and beautiful view. It was a peaceful spot to drink tea and watch deer walking on the bank. Fun for our kid and our dog, too!

We had a fantastic stay at Coloma resort right before Thanksgiving. So much so that I booked two return trips before we even left. Every staff member I ran into or conversed with was super helpful and friendly. The grounds are kept very clean. There are tent and RV sites and the most adorable cabins. Spaces are decently sized and the surroundings are just gorgeous. I highly recommend the riverside sites if you don't mind only electric and water and if you can manage to find an open date!

A top 5 for sure! This place is wonderful. Nothing better than hearing the river as you drift off. Great for bringing pets. You'll see deer and other wildlife. No full hookup but they have an easy accessible dump station. This place is 100% worth it!

The venue was wonderful with its outdoor setting and tents for our guests to opt to spend the night in. We got married May 29th, 2021 and it was the perfect day. Love that it was next to the river. So many of our guests said it was one of, or the, most beautiful weddings they had ever been too. This venue is great with the different locations allowing for a unique setting for the ceremony, dinner, cocktail hour, and dancing. There is so much space. The venue was also incredible because they informed us a local business would have a live band during our wedding and that they would work with them on the key moments. We checked in with the venue as we were concerned about our live musician, a harpist, having to compete with another live band close by, as well as our first dance. Laura worked with the business to coordinate the live band playing the following day. While I felt bad for that, I really appreciated our venue working on preserving those key moments for our wedding. We went back and forth on going with Coloma Weddings for our catering. From the first meeting, to the weekly phone calls I made with questions, to the day of the wedding they were beyond helpful. We booked this venue about 1.5 years before our wedding date. They provided timelines and suggestions on what to do to prepare for your wedding. They had tons of options to make the wedding personalized for you, from the food to the decorations and even the timeline. I told them that I did not want to be stressed out at my wedding, I had heard horror stories about brides not enjoying their wedding because of this or that. Liz did a fantastic job of wrangling all the wedding party together, organizing the first looks, putting someone in charge to make sure we got some of the food we purchased. I threw last minute add-ons like drone pictures and a remote control car with a 2 yr old in it at her and she handled as the pro she is. We used the recommended flower shop (Camino Flower shop) to provide the flowers. She is such a fun lady to work with. I'm not a person who usually can express exactly what I want, but she read between the lines and created a truely unique bouquet with the blue orchids (did you know there was such a thing?). We also used Cocomont (not included the wedgewood package) to help us with our decoration. This included a elegant rustic wooden panel and huge drapes to go high into the beams. It really added the personal touch we were looking for. Frank's Bakery from Cameron Park was the vendor for our desserts. He made the most delicious lemon bars and cupcakes. Then Grant DJ was our MC, who kept the party going till it was time to turn-off the lights. We were dancing all night long, with no lulls in the music. Overall this is a romantic, elegant, and beautiful venue run by a management who are truely the professionals at what they do. I was able to actually enjoy my wedding and not worry about whether we were on time. This is something you won't hear many brides say, just ask your friends. I loved every minute of my wedding and I will remember it for eternity. Thank you Wedgewood Weddings at David Girard Vineyards!

She was incredible from start to finish. I had my twin infant babies with me, and Taylor made sure the bridal suite was fully prepared so they could stay with me the entire day. She provided hot water for warming bottles, put up a sign to ensure privacy, and checked in constantly to make sure we had everything we needed. She was always kind, attentive, and went above and beyond in every way. Working with her was an absolute joy, and she truly made our wedding day run smoothly. The only cons we experienced: * Transportation: When we booked the venue, we were told getting Ubers wouldn't be a problem, especially since we opted for the open bar. On the night of our wedding, some of our guests weren't able to get an Uber back to their hotel in Auburn. Thankfully, the security guard was kind enough to drive them back since they were the last guests without a ride, which we deeply appreciated. * Food selection: While the venue offers a lot of menu options, you're limited to tasting only what's served at the Wedding Extravaganza. They mentioned these events happen twice a year, but even though we booked our wedding more than a year in advance, we were only invited to one. Because of that, we had to choose dishes we weren't able to taste, and the options we did try at the extravaganza weren't great. * Cake: The vendor partnered with the venue provided a very dry cake, so we would suggest couples consider getting a cake from their own preferred bakery. * Contact: It was sometimes difficult to reach the venue by phone, as calls weren't always answered, though emails were always responded to promptly. Despite these issues, our overall experience, especially thanks to Taylor, was truly wonderful. The venue itself is breathtaking, and the support we received on our wedding day made it feel magical.
