They also have a fun lodge full of stuff for you to do, plenty of grills to cook on, and even a microwave and keurig! They have a section of Weber creek that they blocked off to create a small swimming hole which was cool because it was so hot. It is a very Rocky creek so you will need water shoes. It was fun seeing the crawfish and the fish swimming in the water! Also like the little store they have in case you forget something and are in a pinch. It also has ice cream! My daughter and I stayed for two nights in a teepee, and we felt quite safe--especially comforting for two women traveling together. Greg, the camp manager, was very considerate and responsive, quickly taking care of anything we needed. The bathrooms were very clean, and the beds came with mats and fitted sheets. We brought our own blankets, but it still felt cold at night--next time, I'll definitely bring sleeping bags. There's a beautiful hike nearby, and our teepee was just a short walk from the river, which made the experience even more special. The lounge area was a fun bonus, filled with games and a ping-pong table--we had a great time playing table tennis together. Overall, it was a peaceful and relaxing stay. We rented canvas 11 and had a private setting. The scenery was beautiful (lush trees and river) and we really appreciated the flushing toilets and access to a shower. It was also nice not to have to pitch a tent and we had plenty of space for four. We were greeted upon arrival and the staff was polite and helpful at check-in. I got the sense that some of them didn't want to be/were less than enamored by their jobs so that made things uncomfortable at times. Also, the huge Trump flag when you drive in was polarizing. The walk to the bathrooms took about 7 minutes and involved a steep hill- so that was a no-go at night (especially for the little kids). The bathroom cleaning schedule could be frustrating- it happened twice a day (which was great) but given the hike to get there, if you arrived when it was closed, you were out of luck. They clean around 9am and 9pm- which were peak bathrooms times. I wished they cleaned during non-peak bathroom hours instead. For the price, I think I'll go back to park camping with less rules/restrictions/opinions. But it was great to try this once. read more

Camp Nauvoo is a quaint and tranquil place to glamp while leaving me feeling as if I'm somewhat roughing it! The grounds are kept up very nicely by friendly hosts Laurie and Greg. Located just 2.5 hours from the SF bay in the town of Placerville, It's a nice and easy weekend get away. There are clean bathrooms and showers, gas and barbecue grills, safari style tents with bunks & cots for four, two teepees on site, a cottage with ping pong, board games and books and magazines-wagons to transport your gear... There are a total of 16 sites all near a running creek side. What makes this place extra special are the small touches. Little gnomes adorn each tent...so cute! This place was just as cute in real life as the photos! This tippee number 3 tent is huge! Perfect for 2-4 people. We had sleeping mats, a night light, fresh sheets, towels, toiletry, and COFFEE!!! :) Greg and Laurie definitely thought things through when they opened this place up. There is another very detailed review on HipCamp that gives you a good idea of what this place is all about, I suggest reading the FAQ as well. I spent 3 nights here with my two boys 8 and 10. They cannot wait to come back to hang out with Greg. We really felt cared for here. Such a great vibe and we will be coming back every year and for longer! I think 5 nights would be perfect for us, it's so relaxing here. I suggest booking for 3 nights if you can swing it. Check in is 4-8pm so don't try and rush. If you're coming from the Bay Area, give yourself 4 hours because there will be car accidents and traffic unless you are lucky. Better to relax and not rush. Side note, American River which is about 30 mins from the camp, was such a fun time! Cold water but it's nice and clear. You can rent boats/tubes and float down the river. It is a long adventure so be prepared for 3-4 hours. We love you, Greg! And we look forward to meeting Laurie next time! read more

My family and I camped for two nights this past week. We stayed in the Shoshone canvas tent which had a set of bunkbed cots, and two full sized cots. Pros: The campground grounds are very well maintained with a beautiful creek, multiple canvass tents, two really awesome teepees, and multiple tent sites. We really enjoyed playing ping pong in the lodge as well as the huge assortment of board games available. There are propane grills in front of the lodge and in various parts of the campground for cooking. Cons: 1. The ladies room was not very tidy. I get it, it's camp! But the gross hairs in the sink and in the showers were gross! 2. It kinda sucked that you had to pay $35 to use their propane to utilize the campfire ring even if you brought your own from home. I understand that it was policy so we went with it. Just sucked to pay when we just filled ours. 3. Now this was a major one for me and even though I really enjoyed the campsite I do not think I'll come back... I did not appreciate the camp host/owners sarcasm towards me. Every time I passed by him, or he passed by me he directed a comment toward me that I took offense to. Such as: "I see you're making him do all the work huh?" (referring to my husband pulling a cart of our camp supplies to our site when I was clearly carrying other items...) my husband said he was just messing around so I let it go. The next encounter was the following day when the host was showing other guests to their sites on a golf cart. My family and I were minding our own business enjoying our day sitting in a circle in our lawn chairs passing around a bag of chips. Then the host stops right in front of us. I'm thinking he's going to greet us, say hi, ask how we're enjoying our stay so far, etc. Nope. He stares right at me and says, "every time I see you you're eating!" And I'm just thinking, yeah it's camp whatever guy! So I was still not gonna let this ruin my day but I actually hid my plate at dinner when he rolled around again because I was scared he was going to comment again :(. Fast forward to the evening when I brought my girls to wash up for the night and we came out of the restroom, it was dark out, and my husband who was supposed to be waiting for us was not in sight. So I told my girls that dad must have walked back to camp. No big deal. But guess who was sitting outside and overheard? Mr. Camp host who just had to say, "you probably made him hide from you" Maybe he was just being sarcastic and meant no harm, either way I took it as such. read more

Fabulous! My daughter was married last weekend at Camp Nauvoo. She wanted, and got, a wedding venue where her friends and family could meet and get reacquainted over 3 days. Approximately 80 of her friends camped on site, in a variety of tent cabins, teepees and flat ground. A stream goes through the center of camp and the sound, late at night, is magical. The kitchen is very close to a commercial kitchen, with large fridge and freezer space and a huge cold room. The grounds are so, so, so well maintained and there are showers with hot water. Greg and his wife, Laurie, run the camp and are meticulous. The wedding was a huge success and everyone is exhausted from 3 days on celebration. And we all wish we could go to Camp Nauvoo next weekend and do it again. read more

The campground is "cute" and well appointed. It is ideal for families of 2-4 people. Nice to have BBQ grills available. The stream is the highlight of the campground. For us, I will not return. We had a group and the camp host, Greg, was overbearing. You could feel him watch our every move and he would make slightly rude remarks to us but then be very polite and kind the every other interaction with him. This was my first time booking a campsite through hipcamp and I am so glad I did. I love camping but my husband is not a big fan of all the work that goes into it, this was a perfect balance - convenient camping. We could still do camp cooking, but didn't have to worry about pitching a tent or non flush toilets. We booked site #4 and it was perfect, very close to the bathrooms and shaded all day. There were 2 cots with a mattress type base and 1 bunk bed (no mattress). We were able to move the cots around as they were very light. We paid $30 extra for the propane to get a camp fire going (no cooking on this one) and it definitely upped the experience. There were tons of games and books to chose from. The bathrooms were clean. There was even some dish soap and napkins which was convenient. The hosts prepared smores one night and we enjoyed ourselves. We forgot to carry a lamp and the hosts were kind enough to lend us one. We hiked to Bassi falls about an hour away which was gorgeous. We also check out Placerville main st which was super cute. I think this site is perfect for couples or families. read more

One of my favorite camping spots of all time! Really enjoyed the scenery and the surrounding campgrounds with awesome trails. Greg was an awesome host. Really goes the extra mile if you need help settling in, or extra accommodations. They allow pets which is really awesome! They are very pet friendly. They have clean restrooms and showers, a lodge with games and eating area. My brother an I were playing ping-pong while our family sat outside in the river. They have strict quiet-time policy that allows people to get a good rest. Quiet-time is from 10p-7am. Gives you time to enjoy the quiet time and get a good nights rest. read more

We had an amazing vacation here! We stayed Monday- Friday so we were able to take advantage of the weekday discount. On arrival we were met by Greg who had showed us around and helped bring out stuff to the mini glamping site 10. We were the only ones there all week so we definitely got more than what we paid for. Spectacular campsite! This was the highest quality campgrounds I have ever been to. The inside of the glamping tents reminded me more of a hotel room than an actual tent! The beds were so comfortable, I don't think I ever want to use a sleeping bag again! I was so pleasantly surprised! Extremely clean bathroom facilities. Many campgrounds I have been to in the past were dark, dirty and infested with bugs, but Camp Nauvoo has set a new standard in my eyes! I've been camping here two different times and both times it was phenomenal. Greg is very helpful and friendly, made us feel right at home. I would recommend this to everybody who wants a hassle-free, relaxing camping experience where you can just show up and have everything ready to go! You can tell every inch of this campsite has been handcrafted with love and attention. It was so peaceful falling asleep right next to the sounds of the river. Our little get away. Our first time camping so we did forget quite a few things but it still worked out. Greg was a lovely host and kept everything well maintained for all of us to enjoy. Camp site has the cooking tools we needed, hot water for the hot chocolate and coffee. I thought Greg was joking when he says the light goes out after 5min in the shower LoL so I didn't say anything to hubby. Of course hubby takes a shower at night and the lights went out, luckily he had brought the lantern. Oops LoL We loved listening to the relaxing water stream at night. We stayed here for our family reunion in 2008 and it was great! The creek is great fun and they have a big amphitheater with a campfire bowl. We have a big group and the kitchen facilities were just fine. Our only suggestion for improvement is updating the showers. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints uses it every summer for Girls Camp and year round for different groups, so book way in advance. Everyone loved it so much we called for a reservation for last summer but it was booked solid. So we booked it for our reunion next summer instead. read more

My kids had a great time playing in the beautiful creek and exploring the camp. My daughter especially loved the nice lodge with a full set of board games. The hosts are great to work with and super thoughtful. We mentioned how fun it would be to have a hammock near the creek and within a few hours they installed one in the most perfect location. We spent a wonderful weekend at camp Nauvoo earlier this month. We stayed in their glamping tent and enjoyed the wonders of camping without all the hard work. (We got to camp but sleep in a real bed!!!!) Our girls spent time hiking, reading in the hammock and on a floaty in the creek, and trying to catch fish/crayfish. Not a screen was to be seen all weekend and neither girl asked for one - we all just enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. The owner, Greg, even hosted a s'mores night! Our team, Aftershock, a YCC U17 Boys team is made up of BayArea's best of the best. They have a short time to get to know each other and play as a team in the nationals (Blaine MN this August), as opposed to playing against each other during the regular season. We needed a place to take our players to bond and know each other well. Away from the internet, 24+ hours together doing nothing but chill, play, talk, banter, wade in the creek, breathe fresh air, make 'smores. Camp Nauvoo provided just that atmosphere. We rented out the entire place and had our wedding party here in September. The newish owner Greg is a super nice guy, and really worked with us to make the weekend great. They are still ironing out some kinks, but overall it was a great experience. Nice campsites, a big meadow, and a great lodge/commercial kitchen space. Very family friendly; there's a little playground and a creek running through the property. The kids had a blast! I would recommend this as a venue for any family reunion, wedding, etc. They also do regular camping if that's what you're looking for. They continue to make upgrades to the property, and I can't wait to see how it improves over the next few years. read more

We just stayed here last weekend and really enjoyed it. By rare luck we had the place all to itself (which probably could never happen again) and we certainly enjoyed it. The place is very beautiful with every convenience. The owners have really made it nice and are very warm and thoughtful. There's many types of entertainment for kids (basketball, soccer, frisbee, ping pong, bean bag toss, volleyball, swings, slide, river floaties, fishing rods, board games galore...) and the place is very well kept. We stayed in a unique teepee which was delightful. You can tell that Greg and Laurie take a lot of pride in the place and they couldn't be nicer. My only regret is that if I tell people about it it will be "discovered" (but that's what will happen anyway!) Highly recommend. read more

Our stay at Camp Nauvoo was pretty grand! We got to have a relaxing time in a glamping tent. Our two kids spent a large part of each day in Weber Creek where they swam and played in rafts. They also went to the swimming hole just down the road and had more exciting time in the water cooling off on a comfortable hot day, perfect for cooling off. This was their favorite thing to do there. They say that Camp Nauvoo is "Amazing" "Spectacular" and "Fun!" The surroundings were gorgeous and it was delightful spending time in such a beautiful area. The lodge was full of games and books for the kids to spend more time keeping busy. The playground also kept them occupied. There was never a boring moment because there is an ample amount of things to do. Being a jogger, we had a beautiful and peaceful run back to the main road and back. There was plenty of places to explore, and host Greg provided plenty of support and helped us find everything we needed. We plan on being back next summer and look forward to spending time there, especially hiking the trail that we missed out on during. read more

There is good space for washing dishes, the lodge has games and TT table to keep kids engaged. We had a wonderful time at Camp Nauvoo! I rented this place for the Sunday school class, where kids had a lot of fun. They enjoyed the rafts going up and down the river. Good place for hiking, playing games, having a camp fire. And because we had stay 2 nights we had to use the kitchen which has everything you need in there. We love it!
