Bluestone Meadow is a modest lavender farm. The field is rather small and you can tell that some of the plants have seen better days. I came after a very cold and wet late winter and spring, which I'm sure affected the plants. It was still a nice little family farm, albeit without a ton of picturesque views. For the Lavender festival they featured some vendors, live music and a $5 kids zone (which I didn't visit as I don't have any children.) They offer the chance for U-pick lavender bouquets but upon pulling in and getting ready to visit the fields, I found no clear direction for the U-Pick. I went over to the barn and spoke to the cashier who just advised I grab a basket and some shears. Just some feedback for the farms, is that they may want someone advising guests on the proper way to cut the lavender. Other fields I've visited had a bit more guidance: to offer. It was a nice little trip, overall and in addition to my bouquet that I picked, I also got a container of their lavender body butter. They also do weddings and other events at the farm, so it's helpful to follow them on Social Media. read more

I did not enjoy this location as much as other lavender farms because there was no instruction for picking, leading to a lot of destroyed or poor quality lavender bushes. Also, the clippers they had for people to use were dull and rusted and made it super difficult to get a clean cut in the stem. We picked for 40 minutes and couldn't get enough to make one large bundle. Even picking carefully and trying to get the best looking lavender, by the time we entered the line inside the barn to pay, the lavender was drooping and the stems changing color. It was really disappointing! I would not come back to this farm. The one positive that I did have with this experience however is that garden gloves were available for picking. This was a huge help in avoiding getting stung by a bee! Kudos for that blue stone :) read more

The wife and I visited the placer foothills on Father's Day for a change of pace. We stopped by bluestone meadows to check out their lavender festival. The lavender fields were kinda neat. There was a craft fair and a kids play area. We paid $5 for parking-I think it was for a fundraiser of some sort. There are some lavender themed items for sale and you can pick your own bouquet if you want. read more

Lavender!!! This little farm grows lavender and pumpkins. Right now, it's lavender season. The farm is on Apple Hill and ran by a lovely couple. You can shop in their little open air barn or pick lavender straight out of the fields. They also host weddings and festivals. Check out their website for all the deets. The shop carries a bunch of local made lavender products: soap, bath bomb, essential oils, lotion, body spray, room spray, face cream, dried bouquets, potpourri, wreaths, plants, ice cream, and monster spray. What is monster spray? It a top secret proprietary lavender spray that keeps the monsters at bay from the kiddos... cute packaging too. I bought a lavender room spray. I spray this stuff before I go to bed. It has a mild light scent that helps me to relax. I'm pretty sure it also relaxes the monsters and keep them at bay ;D The farm has a small simple field plot that you can walk through and hand cut your own fresh lavender. A handheld bundle ranges around $10. They have a diverse variety of lavender. They have gardening gloves, handheld shears, and baskets that you can borrow free of charge to go picking your own lavender. It's free to walk about and take a gander except on festival days, they charge a car fee on those days. By the way, I popped on the weekend before June 15th. It's a long drive for us that live in Sacramento to see just small rows of lavender plants. I thought it would be rows and rows of it but instead few rows and some bigger patches in separated areas. Very disappointed. read more

I want to go back and see everything I missed. I'm giving this place five stars because of everything fear I saw, even though I didn't get to do. After eating delicious, warm lavender donuts (which my son refused to eat...what?!), we walked around the little lavender field. There were a few statues he climbed on and he just enjoyed running around. That was until he saw a tractor train! They took donations, so he happily dropped in money for them. We rode right up front, right behind the driver. He took us around the entire farm. Down the lavender fields, up a small trail past the fairies, and we got to see a glimpse of a petting zoo (wish we saw that before and went!), some vendors (which we did see and walk through), and back. All the while he waved and giggled. If he wasn't tired and had to go home, I would have done it again and gone back to the petting zoo. A year later, and I realized I never wrote a review!! My wife and I got married here in 2019, and the day couldn't have been more perfect! John and Carolyn were SO incredibly helpful and thoughtful from the day we first booked the venue, for months leading up to, and especially the weekend and day of our wedding. They were so welcoming and worked so hard to make sure everything was perfectly smooth and seamless on our big day. The farm is beautiful and they've made sure it has all the small details to make it a wonderful time for everyone - the big canopy and lighting, the dance floor, all the lawn games and seating areas, the vintage car for the couple, and the bumblebee train for the little ones. Everyone at our wedding had a wonderful time, and the awesome planning and hard work by John & Carolyn that goes into keeping the farm so beautiful and fun really shows. What a special spot up in apple hill! We stopped by with our two young kids and were pleasantly surprised with how family friendly they are. We were able to pick our own bouquet of lavender, and my little ones enjoyed the "I spy fairy garden" and walking up to feed the alpacas and llamas. We will definitely be back next June! read more

We just had our wedding here and not only is the entire location beautiful, but both John and Carolyn are incredibly helpful in planning a wedding. They kept in touch with me over the year to check in if I needed any help or recommendations for vendors. They put in so much work and effort to get and keep their property looking amazing for all the weddings they support. I really enjoyed working with them. They were also a huge help keeping my 4 year old entertained while I and my maids ran around getting stuff ready for the day of. Where do I start... our experience for our youngest daughter's wedding at Bluestone Meadow was unforgettable. From our very first email interaction to set up a time to view the venue to our very last closing conversation as we left the venue at the end of the wedding day, the owners, John and Carolyn were amazing. If you are looking for good, honest, hard-working all around pleasant people to work with, look no further. They have put their heart and soul into spending time thinking about and implementing elements into their property to enhance the wedding experience. The property itself is beautiful and with three different options of where to hold your ceremony it allows for you to personalize the look for your event. And...if by chance the weather takes a turn on you as it did for us...John and Carolyn did everything they could to help strategize and pivot our plan to still pull off a day to remember despite the pouring rain for our May wedding. The venue also has a whole storage container full of tables and chairs for your event as well as other items that would be useful for decor. I could go on and on about our experience but I will leave you with this; we met John and Carolyn in December as strangers who owned the venue we were looking at and when we left the venue at the end of the wedding day in May, we felt as if we had gained a couple new friends. If you're looking to do an outdoor wedding, Bluestone Meadow in Placerville, California is a gem! John and Carolyn Havicon are very committed to making your day extra special. They are very responsive via phone and email, and they are upfront about options, pricing, and items that they can provide. The site is picture perfect, surrounded by mountains, tall trees, with the sun on the horizon. Prior to the wedding, the Havicons set up arches (you have many options as to which arches you want to use and where to place them) and put up lights, so that by nighttime, everything is just as gorgeous, if not more than how things looked like when the sun was up. Not to mention the lavender - our florist worked with Carolyn to use lavender from the farm in our centerpieces. Any floral decor looks seamless with the venue. Carolyn will go over what decor she can provide, but she can incorporate rentals or personal items easily. We had to rent dinnerware and tablecloths, but the basic setup they provide covers your bases! The best part was that there is a house on site with a room where the bride can get ready. It is fully equipped with vanity lights, full mirrors, and a restroom. Speaking of restrooms, you will need to rent a toilet trailer for guests, but the Havicons work with a vendor for that, and the options are more than decent. John and Carolyn are also good at day-of coordination and can keep things running smoothly and on time. We were fortunate to have a very good DJ who also kept things on schedule, but the Havicons were in tune with how we wanted the events of our big day to unfold. Overall, the Havicons are very gracious people, and the venue is photogenic from every angle. If you can book Bluestone Meadow for your wedding, you are in good hands. They can also refer you to various vendors and give you peace of mind throughout the planning process. Booking Bluestone Meadow was the secret to our wedding's success! I contacted BM a few weeks ago after hearing that they have an annual lavender harvest, and spoke to Carol, who was very kind. I was excited about the event! I went on Saturday am. The farm & "festival" is alot smaller than i anticipated (i was expecting there to be a bustling event with a big music stage and a few food trucks and many vendors--so did another person i spoke to there under the tent) but the event was very organized and the turnout was pretty HUGE. It was a nice set up, where sections were staggered so ppl could be in different sections of the farm. At the entrance, was the food struck and next to that was a canopy tent with communal tables so ppl could eat in the shade. Near the entrance was a structure where the gift shop was, selling everything lavender! The line was too long even at 2 different times, so i decided not to shop. There was a puppet area for kids and some tables for crafts, i imagine. There is an apparatus for making lavender wreaths once you pick your lavender out in the field. The lavender fields were beautiful. There were 2 main sections of lavender. The farm is decorated with cute props. Further out was an area where they set up canopies for a handful of vendors. Then there's nice shaded area with picnic tables. B/c i did not realize they had picnic tables back there and it was shaded, i ended up having to hike back to the entrance to my car to get my lunch. It was so hot, i ended up, food in hand, not hiking back to the picnic area, but just settled eating in front next to the food truck. Next to the picnic area was a (travelling) kids' petting zoo. And in the back they had the farm's animals, a few alpacas and llamas. They were adorable! I suggest for the future, that BM buy HUGE 10-20 gallons containers to hold water for consumption. It was in the 90s and the small water dispensers in the picnic area as well as the gift shop table was used up by 11am. Alternatively, offer waters for $1-2 and buy 10-20 dozen cases at minimum. Also, having more food/snack vendors with "lavender" recipes/themes would be interesting, too. Some food demos. Overall, a nice visit. read more

This was an awesome wedding venue! I would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone who wants to have an outside wedding. My wife and I spent a day exploring venues (mostly in Tahoe) and finished the day checking out Bluestone Meadow, almost immediately choosing this venue. John, Carolyn and the venue was a nice refreshing way to end our day of searching. John and Carolyn are very attentive, flexible and absolutely have the couple's interests in mind. I brought my kids here as part of a field trip, and we all had a great experience! John enthusiastically taught us all about bees and beekeeping, and how to harvest honey. They got to ride the "bee train", and hand feed the llamas and alpacas. It was a very hands-on day, that we will remember for years to come! We got married at Bluestone in May and I cannot be more grateful for everything Carolyn and John did that made our wedding so unique and perfect. We had our wedding here at the end of September 2017 and couldn't be happier with Bluestone Meadow. John and Carolyn were so easy to work with, responsive to our questions and needs, and made sure everything went well. We opted for The Works package which was great because we didn't have to worry about set-up or clean-up (they handled it all) and Carolyn was the Day of Coordinator which took some of stress away. After explaining our ideas/plans to them, they executed them very well. They also provided helpful suggestions and let us visit the venue several times to figure out the plans. They have many decorations and other items that can be used for the ceremony and/or reception which helped with costs (even a photobooth with fun props). The bride and bridesmaids have access to the house kitchen and a room that is perfectly set-up for hair and makeup. The groom and groomsmen have access to the barn (when not in use for other Bluestone activity). The venue itself is beautiful and many of our guests commented on the wonderful setting.
