Village Vet has been such a meaningful part of our pets' lives over the years. We first came to them with our Rottweiler, Roxy, when she was very sick. They had all the equipment needed to run tests and figure out what was going on, and every single person we interacted with was kind, patient, and incredibly understanding. When it came time to say goodbye to Roxy, they made one of the hardest moments of our lives feel as peaceful and supported as possible. Their compassion truly meant everything to us. A few years later, we found ourselves in that position again with our 15-year-old Dodger (our Black Mouth Cur). Even though Dodger wasn't an established patient, they treated him with so much care and kindness, as if they had known him his whole life. That meant more than I can put into words. What I appreciate most about Village Vet is how heard and understood they make you feel. Their approach is realistic, down to earth, and genuinely compassionate. They will add a thousand medications on your dog so you can have a huge bull leaving. Not because it will help your dog but because it's a quota met they have to sell so many a day. This is my regular vet, and I'm here a couple times a year with two dogs. I've only ever had an excellent experience with their staff and doctors, but today I was lucky enough to catch Chelsea on the phone when I called to make an appointment. She was so sweet, helpful and funny and made something that was a little bit stressful feel okay. These guys are always sooo kind, helpful, and knowledgeable! We've taken our two dogs for regular checkups (vaccines, checking lumps, etc) and they've always gone so smooth. We've worked with multiple DRs and vet techs when we visit and they've all had amazing "bed side manner" and treat our pups so well. The front desk crew is also always been so pleasant. We recently had one of our dogs need a procedure of two mass removals, and they were so helpful and kind during the whole process. They answer all my questions without making me feel bad for being an overprotective dog mom and I can tell they truly care and are knowledgeable. When my dog ended up biting out some of the stitches they got us in immediately to fix him up and I was able to send pictures via text message over the following days/weeks for check ins on how the healing was going. This whole situation was very overwhelming and stressful for me and they were so kind with helping me and my dog through the process. read more

Thank you so much for taking care of Scooby! Scooby loves all the vets, vet techs and admin staff. At the recommendation of a friend, we went to the Village Vet. My friend's dog also had surgery done at the Village Vet by the traveling surgeon. Pre surgery We went to see Dr. Bellville because Scooby was limping. Dr. Bellville examined him, did an xray and found that he had a partial CCL tear. She told us our options, and we decided to go with the surgeon, Dr. Teehar, who travels to the Village Vet to do the surgery. She was very quick. Day of surgery (March 2022) Scooby was well taken care of. We dropped him off in the morning. Surgery was done before noon, and we picked him up in the afternoon. They wanted to keep him after surgery so they can monitor him. Post surgery We received calls the day after to make sure Scooby is okay and to schedule a suture removal. We also received phone calls to remind us to remove patches. They truly cared about Scooby's well being. We did all the recommended exercises and post op instructions. As of Nov 2023, Scooby's leg is doing great! They really do prepare you for everything that has to be done before, during and after the surgery. They provide all the tools and resources you may need to make sure everything goes smoothly. After surgery, we've taken Scooby to the Village vet for check ups. Overall everyone was great! We moved out of state, but we're glad we found Village Vet while my husband was stationed in the area. read more

We recently rescued a new Pup from San Luis Obispo Humane. We already have a healer who is amazing! Anyhow, we we're looking for. New vet to take our current and new pups too. Our fantastic neighbors recommended this place to us. Making the first apt was easy peasy. The person I spoke with on the phone was great and helpful. We didn't have to wait weeks or more for an apt. On the day of our apt Check in was easy and smooth too. We didn't have to wait long for our turn. When we got into the exam room is was friendly relaxed and we didn't have a long wait for the doggy Dr. When she came in her nurse was with her and the exam was simple and relaxed for my Pup. All our concerns were heard and addressed with kindness and patience. The was no extra things added I. To increase the bill beyond what our pups needs were. That was nice! From start to finish it was just easy, smooth and enjoyable. Even for our new Pup. Over the Christmas holiday one of my rabbits came down with a bit of GI stasis. The day things opened back up, my usual vet was out of town and I was sure that everyone would likely be booked anyway. Village Vet was able to get us in just a few hours after I called. Dr. Deter and her staff were very knowledgeable and demonstrated great skill handling my strong, willful bun. So my husband and I moved to Lompoc almost 2 years ago and have only gone to Village Vet. The prices seem on par with any other vet we've used in the past including SB and Bakersfield. I have to say I really like Dr. Ganter and she's the first vet where I actually feel comfortable as a dog mom. I can tell she wants and gives the best care for our dog as possible. But she's also not super pushy. The center is super clean and well kept which is important to me. The facility also provides a lot of services including boarding which we have used and really liked. They have kennels with cameras so you can check in your pup while you're away. They also have grooming services which we will probably use at some point. read more

Village Veterinary Clinic provides all that and more. 1. The Doctors are amazing. Compassionate, understanding, extremely knowledgeable and most importantly patient. They are BUSY, but when you're speaking to (any of) the Doctors they take the time to listen, explain, and help you determine what needs to be done. 2. The Staff are also amazing. This clinic doesn't skimp on staff. There's a ton of people that work here to support the business. Front multiple front office staff, to several techs that support that act like nurses to the Doctors, to a full boarding and care staff. Everyone is knowledgeable, considerate, and willing to help. If they don't have an answer to your question, they will find the right person for you to speak with. And everything is done with a respectful, understanding attitude. You'll never feel rushed or like you're bothering them. You'll always feel important. 3. They care. Really and truly. When your pet is being seen, regardless if it's a routine care or an emergency trauma, the Doctors and staff care about your pet and making the pet healthy. But they also care about you and your situation. They understand that financial concerns are part of the equation, and will work with you, giving you options for the treatment and care of your pet. What is necessary vs. what is ideal. They'll explain why they feel it's important to do each option and make sure that you're comfortable with the procedures/treatments and the price point. 4. Pricing is on par with competitors. It is said you get what you pay for, but at Village Veterinary Clinic you get so much MORE. Vets are expensive and unless you have pet insurance, you're going to be paying for your pet's care out of pocket. But the pricing isn't outrageous and is on par with what other vets charge. Only at VVC you're also getting the amazing, knowledgeable, and caring Doctors, Techs, Staff, and Support for your money. If you want to be 100% sure your fur-baby gets the best treatment for the same cost as any vet, then Village Veterinary Clinic is where you NEED to go. 5. Almost a one-stop-shop. VVC offers pretty much everything you need for your pet. There's not just veterinary services, but also boarding, grooming (washing, nail trim, teeth brushing, but no styling/cutting at this time), and food/treat supplies. They also have a dedicated set up for when your pet's time has come, with caring, compassionate, and understanding staff to help with the transition. Including cremation services. 6. After Hours contact. The Village Veterinary Clinic has regular business hours, that go late into the evening some days. With Covid-19, their hours are a little wonky but they're open a lot. Their boarding staff is there 7 days a week, and the doctors have an emergency contact system that you can leave a message till 9 pm and they'll call you back shortly to discuss what's going on. They work in concert with an Orcutt/Santa Maria based emergency pet clinic that is open 24/7. Both businesses communicate back and forth and will help you with your emergency, so you're not having to remember all the details and instead can focus on your pet's health and well-being. 7. All Animals are welcome. The VVC offers support for not just dogs and cats, but all animals big and small. So if you have a horse, a duck, a lizard, or something else in-between, they have a Doctor that can assist you with the animal's care. I can't recommend this Veterinary Clinic enough. I cannot say enough about this clinic. I was visiting from out of town last week and needed to get my pup Molly seen for a hotspot issue. Little did I know that this visit would change our lives, especially Molly's. Dr. Deter took the time to explain the differences between food and environmental allergies. One look at Molly she knew was suffering. She suggested starting with a diet change first. I am happy to say after 4 days of the special food, Molly loves the taste and has made such an improvement already. I can tell she feels much relief. From my first phone call with Marisol, to my "meant to be" appt with Dr. Deter to all the technicians that helped us that day, I can not thank you enough. I have a large reactive German shepherd who usually doesn't let people touch her or get very close to her at all. However, she sits still and cooperates well with Dr. Ganter and her staff. The staff are incredibly kind and caring and always treat us well. My dog was hit by a car, and we called to leave a voicemail to check if there was availability with Dr. Ganter to have her checked on. Dr. Ganter called us personally as soon as she got into the office and checked in on my dog's status before we were able to schedule an appointment to see her that afternoon. The concern and care in her demeanor and voice were incredibly important during this stressful event, and we are so grateful for her patience and whatever unicorn magic her and her staff have that soothe my dog. read more

Excellent staff and drs. Dr. Deter was patient, explained what was needed, did not push expensive treatments. She and the tech handled my dog with care, she normally cries when anyone tries to examine or probe her, I was impresses at the level of caring and compassion. We've been taking our pets to Village Vet for the last ten years or so. Dr. Deter was wonderful. More recently, we have seen Dr. Ganter. She is rude, comes across as overwhelmed and stressed all the time, talks down to you like you are an idiot. In my first encounter with Dr. Ganter, she did not call me to ask for consent to take a non-emergency x-ray, and she (or staff, not sure) did such a poor job splinting my dog's leg that I ended up re-splinting it myself for the last 3 weeks of healing. The next time I had to take our dog to the vet, it was for stomach issues. Dr. Ganter gave her anti nausea meds while at the clinic and our dog felt great. The next day, however, she still wasn't feeling well so I called the clinic to see if I could pick up some anti-nausea meds. The receptionist told me there was no such thing as anti nausea meds that can be administered at home and suggested I "just call back" the next Monday "to see if they could squeeze me in"...... (ok.... so let's just let the dog suffer all weekend so you can charge an office visit fee). Honestly, I could deal with minor the clinical issues I've described if it weren't for her lack of empathy and just coming across as demeaning and RUDE on top of it all. read more

I reply, who are you talking about. For the doctors to the assistants , the front office people bend over backwards to help you with your loving pets.
