Lompoc Veterinary Clinic - "What do you mean.. I have to get shots?"

This review is for my experience over the phone with Lori , I have not visited the clinic…read more My pup wasn't doing well. He was shaking, vomiting, had a lack of appetite, and bloody stool. He's a little guy, so he tends to go downhill quickly if he doesn't get treatment quickly. The vet I typically use said they couldn't see him until 3 days later, even after explaining his symptoms. I didn't want to make my pup suffer that long and I was really concerned because it was getting progressively worse rather quickly. I called local vets. Some weren't taking new patients, some didn't have any openings, some weren't friendly or informative over the phone when I called. I called Lompoc Veterinary Clinic, they could not see him HOWEVER, Lori couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. She was so patient and gave me a long list of other local vets & numbers to try. I was very appreciative of her extra efforts and her caring manner. Not long after my conversation with her she called me back telling me she forgot one other option. She totally went the extra mile and my pet isn't even a patient at this clinic. I'm so grateful to Lori because that phone call made all the difference. I called that last option she gave me and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. It's VERY rare these days where a business does what they're getting paid to do, even more rare when they're going above and beyond without getting paid for it! I SO appreciate Lori's kindness, thoughtfulness, and her going the extra mile. This is exactly the type of service I would love for my fur baby to receive. So while I have not had the opportunity to visit this clinic, I would not hesitate to recommend them based on the EXCELLENT service I received over the phone by Lori. Very grateful. Thank you !

If you hate your animal enough to have this monster as your vet, just be kind and shoot your animal…read morein the backyard or leave it in a field to find a new life. This "man" is an awful human being that got into the wrong line of work. I went there twice and my dog and I were both absolutely traumatized both times. I went back the second time to give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was having the worst day of his life the first time, but no... he's just a complete vapid waste of human space... an ass**** of the highest regard. Dr. Sam? Can you hear me? I know you can. Might I recommend you take that bottle of ear wash and shove it far up your own cavity. Maybe a quality wash might help. Nothing could make you behave worse toward animals OR the humans that love them.. that's for sure. You can bet that I will / have told everyone in my atmosphere to not go here. FIRST REPLY: To respond to your comment, let me say that I agree that feedback needs to reflect full and accurate context, so I'll remind all the readers that you have an ulterior motive to respond and lie (such as: call me a liar and/or delusional), because the success of your business can be effected by these reviews. On the other hand, I don't have an ulterior motive, my life moves on whether I tell the truth or not... and I am telling the truth. Look how many reviews on here talk about how inappropriately Dr. Sam behaves. It's an issue. You can ignore it, but it doesn't stop being an issue, even if you do. Dr. Sam was absolutely brusque in his communication, but it's funny, because he yelled at me to essentially get out of his way while they examined him, but then when they couldn't control him anymore, they asked for my help. Hmm. Your staff wasn't concerned about me getting bit then... right? And you know why the staff asked for my help? Because he KNOWS me. He doesn't know the staff there. He trusts ME. This is why that poor dog shook like a goddamn leaf and was trying everything he could to escape their clutches. They were either swinging him around like a ragdoll or holding him down like a live bomb. It didn't have to be like that. He's a sweet boy and when he feels safe, he'll totally comply. Maybe having a shred of compassion would've helped. As you implied, I definitely was not the "good guy" to my pet that day... I felt awful for having handed him over to humans who borderline assaulted him. We both felt powerless to do much of anything. I made a promise to protect him and I failed that day. SECOND REPLY: At no time was I "hanging on to my pet". Nothing even remotely close to that. Since whoever is responding here admits that they weren't in the exam room, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you make that allegation out of ignorance and not deceit. "Due to insurance requirements, owner's are seldom allowed to restrain their own pets." If treated with any level of compassion and kindness, my dog would not need to be restrained. You know... maybe greet him when you come in the door, rather than just burst in and immediately start yelling at me and man-handling him or let him smell your hand and give him a minute to get used to you. This is why you're so concerned about being bitten... because you're "GO-TO" is to restrain the animals immediately. You are asking to be bit. "Perhaps Dr. Sam was a bit brusque in telling you that" - See, you made a mistake here, because you admitted that he's brusque (definition: blunt in manner or speech often to the point of ungracious harshness). There are a ton of vets out there, people. Even if this is all you accepted as truth, do you want to put your animal in the hands of someone who is described as "ungraciously harsh" even by his own staff? Furthermore, your admittance of this fact adds validity to the rest of my entire review, so thank you for that. "Your abusive, unfiltered language pretty much speaks to the person you are." You'll have to forgive me, I guess that is the way I respond when I see animals being treated so horribly. Since you edited/deleted portions of your first comment and you may plan to do so again, I have screenshotted what you said here so that viewers can follow along, fully and accurately. I know that's important to both of us.

Our choices in the area were limited and we needed a place for our dog the next day, so my partner went through registration without a tour. The registering employee was provided all medical details - we noted that our dog's booster was due but would be completed at our vet visit scheduled for the next afternoon, and that we needed daycare starting the same day. She said that wouldn't be an issue so we paid in advance for 10 days. The next day, partner drives the half hour to Lompoc to drop our dog off and was told that she could not be taken back without the booster. So now he's in the situation we were trying to avoid, unable to work because our dog does not have care, and the woman at the front desk was not concerned about the miscommunication. Booster acquired, our dog is now a regular doggie day care customer. She looks forward to her visits with her dog buddies and the staff. Pick up and drop off are fast and straightforward. She gets a little dusty but we bathe her regularly anyway. Since that first day, we have had a few more issues with daycare availability that are all the more frustrating due to lack of communication. If doggie daycare is optional for you, this may not be an issue, but for us it means someone has to take a day off or loses half a day to making alternative arrangements. There are a few things you can do to try to mitigate the risk of not having care, but the legwork will be on you and are not guaranteed. 1. Weekday after a holiday - facility will be full of boarded dogs who haven't been picked up yet. Call ahead and/or arrive at 7am. 2. Rainy day - facility will be limited by kennel availability to avoid muddy dogs. Note that a single rainy day can lead to a week of limited availability due to muddy conditions. Call ahead and/or arrive at 7am. Note: This review is only for doggie daycare experience. We have not boarded our dog with the facility.

Dogs will automatically try to hold their urine and feces (hello that's why we crate train) and even if you opt for the bigger area it still defeats the purpose of crate training if the poor babies hold their potty so long and then have to finally go in their enclosure. And what if something happens to the pups? No one is there! What is the point of boarding an animal if all they are going to do is lock them in a room for 13 hours alone. People can and do neglect their animals for free :( . Really cruel. DO NOT LOCK YOUR DOG IN A CRATE FOR MORE THAN 4-6 HOURS AT A TIME! For puppies crate time is much less! They have to use the restroom and get thirsty! I can't believe dog owner's support a business that does this to their dogs and pays for it! Heartbreaking!

Thank you to everyone on the team at AMC!…read more I moved to Hawaii from Santa Barbara and was able to easily handle all of the required paperwork and rabies vaccinations with the help and guidance of the staff of AMC. When I arrived in Honolulu Hawaii yesterday I was able to walk off the plane with my dog without any problems. AMC has been the primary veterinarian for my dog since he was a puppy and I have always had great service, easy appointment setting, clear directions on care and medication, and a followup/checkup call from the staff after neuter surgery. Prices are extremely fair for regular maintenance and checkups, I definitely recommend AMC for your dog or cat.

By day 4 he succumbed to acute blindness. How a vet was not alarmed seeing the dosage on the bottle is beyond me. Ophthalmologist verify our cat is completely irreversibly blind due to its toxicity. I've had vets for over 30 years and never had anyone been this gross negligent. Another woman shared on my Nextdoor post that her dog was prescribed antibiotic by this same vet and caused fatal internal bleeding. Fatal. It makes me wonder what kind of vet this woman is. She's only been there since Feb 2023, just a short 3 years. There may be other cases we don't know about. Beware. If you choose them, you should really google info and ask PetMD about the meds/dosage. I did file a complaint with VMB. CA law does not punish vet malpractice unless it's proven to be intentional. VMB is a division of the Department of Consumer Affairs. They will investigate and do have a measure of accountability from citing fines, to further training, to probation, to protocol requirements, to suspension and revoking license. While an employee was retrieving the hamster, the General Manager approached us aggressively, raised his voice, and began scolding us about the cage, claiming a previous hamster had gotten ringworm from it. I tried to calmly explain that the cage was temporary and that we had done our research, but he would not let me speak, repeatedly talked over me, and belittled me in front of my child. His behavior was hostile, intimidating, and completely unprofessional. He then told us that if the hamster got sick, we should "not come back" because he would refuse to replace it, which felt threatening rather than helpful. Most alarming, his speech appeared slurred, and there was a strong smell of alcohol. Regardless of the cause, his conduct was inappropriate and concerning, especially from someone in a management role. What should have been a happy experience for our daughter was completely ruined. No customer -- especially a family with a child -- should be treated this way. Corporate should seriously look into the management at this location.

The first associate was nice and straight to the point and having people skills (prob new employee). While he was starting to retrieve the 3 fish I asked for, his manager (of someone who feels like it) asked him very rudely to stay away that he would take of the rest. In front of my kid and wife making it a terrible experience for me and my entire family.
