This review is for my experience over the phone with Lori , I have not visited the clinic. My pup wasn't doing well. He was shaking, vomiting, had a lack of appetite, and bloody stool. He's a little guy, so he tends to go downhill quickly if he doesn't get treatment quickly. The vet I typically use said they couldn't see him until 3 days later, even after explaining his symptoms. I didn't want to make my pup suffer that long and I was really concerned because it was getting progressively worse rather quickly. I called local vets. Some weren't taking new patients, some didn't have any openings, some weren't friendly or informative over the phone when I called. I called Lompoc Veterinary Clinic, they could not see him HOWEVER, Lori couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. She was so patient and gave me a long list of other local vets & numbers to try. I was very appreciative of her extra efforts and her caring manner. Not long after my conversation with her she called me back telling me she forgot one other option. She totally went the extra mile and my pet isn't even a patient at this clinic. I'm so grateful to Lori because that phone call made all the difference. I called that last option she gave me and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. It's VERY rare these days where a business does what they're getting paid to do, even more rare when they're going above and beyond without getting paid for it! I SO appreciate Lori's kindness, thoughtfulness, and her going the extra mile. This is exactly the type of service I would love for my fur baby to receive. So while I have not had the opportunity to visit this clinic, I would not hesitate to recommend them based on the EXCELLENT service I received over the phone by Lori. Very grateful. Some months ago, I needed a last minute boarding option for our dog. I called this clinic and they said they had room for our 1 year old, unspayed female. I was told that she would be able to run around outside with the other dogs during the day, with nighttimes spent in a run or kennel. Sounds good. We bring her in and I do what I need to do to hand her over. One of the staff members, the older woman with short hair, walks over and gets way closer than necessary. With aggressive body language and tone, she instists on knowing why I won't spay our dog. I say ma'am, I am not looking for an argument. She deflated a bit and backtracked, but really... you got out of your seat to walk over and do this whole song and dance. My ears and vocal chords work just fine. She then tells me that they don't usually let dogs they don't know mingle with the others. This has been our normal vet office. Even so, this was not what I was told over the phone. She spends time with our dog, who is very friendly and behaving toward her the same way she does with everyone, and says that she can be outside. I ask for clarification. She said that our dog will get to be outside, either with the other dogs or by herself and she assured me that she would be out somewhere she could run around. Either way, things sounded ok, but her vibe threw me off. We are gone for a week with no call from the office. I call on the day we are scheduled to pick up, and let them know we will be over shortly. They ask my name and when I say it I get met with panic. The person leaves and returns to the phone more panicked. She says our dog will be ready in a bit. We go to pick her up and the employee I speak with seems nervous. We sit down to wait for our dog and when she comes out, she has to be dragged through the door because she is so scared. The aggressive employee from earlier says something about our dog having memory loss, as she won't go to my 8 year old son on myself, despite our attempts to call her over. Something is obviously wrong. The aggressive employee from earlier has a sick smile on her face. I ask if anything happened. She said aside from anxious diarrhea, nothing out of the ordinary. I see her mouth area is rubbed raw. Does not compute. Did she get to play with the other dogs? She said no, because she kept acting like that --- pointing to her and my son. Our dog started to relax and was was wagging her butt in a play-bow. What did she even mean? So I press more. Did she get to go out at all? Yes, she said. And run around? Yes she said. How big of an area. A dog run she says. How big is that? A good size she says. Dimensions please. She maps out a 4x8 ish area. Really? Well sometimes she got to go into a bigger area. How big? Bigger she says. Wow. How often? Well I don't know I was busy she says. And she becomes more hostile. Basically, I ask for clarification and get the run around and hostility. Weird. And no call about the diarrhea before administering medication? No call at all? As we were leaving she was sure to passive-aggressively thank us and recommend another kennel. My only intention of putting our story out here is to hopefully prevent someone else from having to go through what my family and I have had to endure while taking our dogs to this veterinary practice. We have two huskies (2.5 years old and 13 years old) that we started taking to Lompoc Veterinary Clinic back in 2021 since we moved to Lompoc (They have been going to this practice for the better part of almost 3 years now). Our first couple of visits with Dr. Harris were honestly great, he always got us in in a timely manner and helped our dogs. He did dental surgery on our older husky, we brought both in for their annual vaccinations, were getting monthly medications for our older husky and were boarding our younger husky there quite frequently with him without any issue. Lori was always super pleasant and often helped us too. Fast forward to December of 2023 and things took a turn for the worst. I started working at Santa Barbara Humane in May of 2023. Being in the industry, I could get medications for our elder dog (blood pressure and joint supplement) through the clinic at work for significantly cheaper (I would save almost $100 a month by switching) but they needed a prescription from our vet in order to order them for me. We called almost every other day for OVER a month and a half inquiring about the prescriptions and we kept getting different answers from everyone there. First it was "The vet is on vacation" and then it was "he was here this morning but left for the day" from someone else on the exact same date. I got to the point that I was SO frustrated that I was discussing this with my veterinarian at work trying to figure out what to do and she decided to call him. I'm not sure what was said in this phone call or who she spoke with but she had the prescriptions in hand the next day. Upon seeing that our dog was blood pressure medication she then asked him for a full medical history. She informed us that having an older dog on blood pressure medication for an extended period of time with no other symptoms was very odd. The vet stated that either something much worse was going on with our dog or she shouldn't even be on this medication in the first place. She suggested a second opinion. Between the lack of sending over the prescription and now this new information that was strike two for me. I stopped taking the dogs there and instead started taking them to the clinic at work but we continued to board our younger husky there and were planning to continue going to Dr. Harris for vet work that the clinic at work could not do. Since December of 2023 up until today, July 19th 2024, we have called probably 8-9 times inquiring about boarding for our younger husky. We always get "we have availability but I will need to check with our kennel manager and call you back." They would then proceed to call us back within a day or two and tell us they were booked out, even MONTHS in advance so I began to have a sinking feeling in my gut that something wasn't right. We called Lompoc Vet on July 17th asking about boarding for September for our honeymoon, and got the same response only this time they never called us back. I asked my fiance to call again because we needed our husky vaccine records to board her somewhere else for a trip this month that they could not accommodate her for and I got no response to emails or phone calls. Low and behold, he got someone on the phone who told him that our younger husky is no longer allowed at the veterinary clinic for boarding. When he asked why, the response he got was "because she learned how to open her kennel door and escaped last time so we can no longer accommodate her." My dog escaped from her kennel at night while in your care and you didn't even bother or think to TELL US when we picked her up?! NO ONE called us, NO ONE even bothered to tell us when we called to inquire about bringing her in for boarding again? WHY out of all those times did the kennel manager not call and have a conversation with us about this? Yet you have the audacity to tell us almost 8 MONTHS later after we've called a number of times and spoke to a number of different people at your clinic. When we asked why we weren't told of this back in December, we were rudely blown off and told to go try Rivers Edge. I will also have you know, as someone that works in this industry, ALL of this would be absolutely UNEXCEPTABLE at my job. And I'm quite appalled that this is the way a "professional veterinary clinic" is doing business. It's disgusting. Strike three, you're out. Best of luck Dr. Harris and Lori, you both have helped us for the better part of two years and we are grateful for that. But I hope you find better staff who actually know how to do their jobs and are nicer to your clients. I don't know what kind of circus you are running over there but I definitely don't want my dogs to be a part of it anymore. read more

Super caring and responsive veterinary clinic! Our cat was not doing well and our normal vet closed abruptly. We called Lompoc Veterinary Clinic and asked if we could get an appointment asap. Lori was incredibly thoughtful and was able to get us a same-day walk-in appointment. We appreciated how thorough Dr. Harris and his team were in checking everything and giving our cat the care she needed. She started feeling better and was back to her normal self very quickly. My daughter moved to Hawaii and of course wanted her dog to move with her. I called several places and didn't really know to much even where to start until I called Lompoc Veterinary Clinic and they walked me through the best steps to get started. Hawaii is far complicated for pets but they made it easy and we have the green light to go to Hawaii soon. Without a doubt the doctor and staff are one of the most kindness for yourself and even more so to your pet and let you know upfront the cost (beyond reasonable). Truly makes you feel like family! I went to this clinic for two decades until I moved out of the area. I have to say that Dr. Harris can be off putting in his approach, however, he is the best vet. He is a true clinician. My animals received the best care there. Laurie and the staff were always pleasant, and accommodating. I have a clinic now where the care is "OK", but never seems quite as comprehensive and thorough as the care I received with Dr. Harris. I would highly recommend this clinic. read more

I've had many dogs throughout my life and seen many vets. This was by far the worst. Dr. Harris was rude, dismissive, and disrespectful from the second we arrived. He talked down to both my mother and I for asking simple questions. Will be sure to let everyone I know not to go here! Update: to address the response from the business--I'm glad it was no charge. The doctor didn't even look at my dog's rotting teeth. He saw her less than 5 minutes and tried to upsell dewormers and $300 blood tests she didn't need (I wasn't there for deworming--I was there for a dental assessment and my dog had no symptoms of worms and is an indoor dog! If I needed to deworm her, I would just do it. All I wanted was an estimate for her teeth!). He simply said I'd have to pay for a dental and see what would happen. He quoted more than double what others were quoting. I took her to another vet and had a great experience. She took the time to look at my dog's teeth and gave a reasonable and accurate estimate. COVID is no excuse to treat customers poorly. Beware of this place! read more

VERY impressed with this clinic. This isn't my dog's normal vet, but I'm thinking this may be our go-to vet after the wonderful experience I had. They were able to squeeze my dog in same day as a new patient which is normally a huge ask in the world of veterinary medicine. My dog needed a couple stitches and the cost was surprisingly reasonable. There's definitely something to be said about the organization and efficiency of this office. I was in and out within 30 minutes despite not having a legit appointment and being a new patient. My dog had to be "hospitalized" for the day and I was shocked when I received a phone call from the actual veterinarian to give me an update just 2 hours later. In my experience, it's not often that a doctor takes the time to personally call families with updates. The front desk staff were knowledgeable and friendly when I came to pick up my dog and pay the bill. They already had his medications ready to send home and gave me a quick run down of everything. When my dog and I were reunited, the veterinarian came out to the waiting room to explain what to expect from here, answer any questions, and say goodbye. I was pleasantly surprised to see my dogs nails were trimmed up as well. It's that extra care and attention to detail that sets this clinic apart. Called this vet three hours before they closed with an emergency, my pet had been attacked and had lost a lot of blood, I told them my emergency and they put me on hold, they had me on hold for what seemed an eternity only to come back on the line and tell me they were to busy! My pet made it through the night so I booked a appointment online with the same vet the next day and got a call that said they were not able to see me at that time either, and they wanted to squeeze me in at their convenience. I said thanks but NO THANKS! I ended up seeing another vet miles away. I hear this vet often tries to defer emergencies to other vets a lot. When you are the only vet in town that sees a certain type of pet I would think you would make yourself available when you still have 3 hours on your work day! Steer clear. read more

My dog got bit by the rattle snake on Thursday June 25 at 11:30 am at Jalama beach . I was sent to Lompoc Vet clinic by our camp ranger. While I was driving there I 've received a phone call from LVC ( unfortunatelly I don't recall lady's name... Loreen(?). She told me that their clivic doesn't have an anti-venom vaccine and she re-directed me to SB VCA hospital She sent me a text with hospital address, gave me very detailed directions how to get there, stayed with me on a phone to make sure that I understood everything, she also answered all my question about rattle snake bites. Also she called to Santa Barbara VCA to tell them that we were on our way. She was very friendly, professional and patient with me over the phone. She safe me a lot of time by promptly re-directing me to another clinic, my dog suvived and I'm very happy and pleased by her wonderful skills. Thank you very much!! read more

Although it was a very cute little vet clinic, I wasn't very fond of Dr.Harris. My dog loves people and she can be scary of course but Dr.Harris didn't attempt to make my dog comfortable with him. Getting into what your there for as quickly as possible is awesome don't get me wrong but if you see a dog isn't acting right , as a veterinarian you should at least try to help and talk to the dog or something...geez. read more

Dr Harris was recommended by another dog owner. We'd just gotten a puppy and planning our return to Hawaii, not realizing the complicated and protracted requirements of bringing a dog into that state. Vet tech Lori is experienced in obtaining and processing the necessary paperwork, medical forms and timed out of state blood work and made a protracted and complicated procedure a breeze. Dr Harris, from our limited contact, was professional and appeared knowledgeable and caring. He patiently answered questions and explained treatment options at our first visit. The office staff are pleasant and welcoming and following our pup's surgery, they called every morning to check on her status. Unfortunately, due to the current odious practice of excluding owners from the back rooms where exams and procedures are actually performed, I cannot attest further. I wanted to write to tell you how very grateful I am for the care and comforting received by our beloved dog Lucky. Dr. Harris performed surgery on her to remove several growths and to clean her teeth. Later, we discovered that Lucky had cancer and we knew the loss of her front leg would not enable her to talk due to the pre-exhisting trouble with both back legs. The professional yet caring way of helping us deal with the decision to end her suffering was very much appreciated. I cannot thank them enough for the compassion, during all the processes as well as the card and flowers they sent afterward. Do not go here! I took my cat in to get neutered, and he was very sick after the procedure. Dr. Harris is very condescending and talks to you like you are dumb. They told me that my cat would return to normal after that day, but four days go by and he is limping when he walks, shaking everywhere, has a fever, and very lethargic. Not the same cat. I took him back in to get checked out and they confirmed he had an infection but told be it was not Bc of the nurturing. The crazy thing is.. they told me it wasn't because of the neutering before they even saw him.. He was fine before I brought him in. They blamed the infection on my other cats. Who (mind you) have had all of their vaccinations. And they have all lived together for 7 months. There is no puncture wound, and the doctor said that is normal? He told me he shaved my cat and didn't see anything, but my cat is not shaved. He blamed the infection on everything but the neutering. Instead of owning up to the issue. Then, made me pay for the antibiotics. He was perfectly fine up until the neutering. Now tell me it's not the neutering? The office also kept trying to make me buy all of his vaccinations when I couldn't afford them. Kept pushing it on me. He is an inside cat and I don't have 500$ to fork out at the moment. After I told them that they still persisted. And made me feel guilty. Then the dr. Blamed that for the infection too. He was fine. Now he's not. I never write reviews, but I love my pets and I don't want anyone else to have to go through this. The other people who work there are very nice, and I had no issue with them. Just don't go here!! Dr. Harris and his team are the most professional veterinary clinic in town. My animals have been seeing him my entire life and there's no one else I can confidently trust with the health, safety, and well being of my pets. At times, the bills can be high, but he genuinely tries to do his best to work with your budget while providing 5 star care for your pet. I've always felt like if you genuinely love your pet, no price is TOO high. You're paying for the best quality care in town. I believe hes also the only vet in town who can help with bird care. He has a genuine love and compassion for his animal patients. He is 100% the only vet in Lompoc Id ever recommend. I had a scare with one of my animals after their surgery at a very late hour (inconvenient time of day/after hours), the emergency line directed me to his personal cell phone and (like an actual human doctor on call) he picked up the phone and gave me instructions as to what I should do and keep an eye out for. He is DO dedicated to the well-being of all animals. I would recommend him to anyone in a heart beat. My dogs Tinkerbelle, Alejandro, Roxy, and Bruno are all lucky to have such a genuine and attentive doctor. read more
