My first beach club experience in Tulum. No minimum, but I ended up spending about $30 on food and drinks. I thought the service was wonderful -- I didn't feel pressured to leave. The chairs were comfortable and the ambiance was great. I plan on spending a lot of time here during the rest of my trip.

RAT HEAD OUTSIDE RIGHT BY OUR ROOM DOOR
Maya E.

***update: they have bed bugs too!! I had bites and just got them checked by a doctor because they didn't look like mosquito bites, and confirmed there were bed bugs!!! Stay away from this place at all costs!!! ***No wifi, rooms not as pictured, rats, thieves and bad vibes. If I could give zero stars I would. When we first arrived, the room was nothing like what was pictured on their website and the AC wouldn't turn on. As a courtesy, a very sweet gentleman at the front desk upgraded our room. He was very kind and I wish I got to have him help me my entire stay. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The manager was an extremely rude and impatient woman. We had rats in our room, the wifi didn't work, the new room had AC that turned on, but didn't cool the room down, the doors and windows didn't close properly, and the noise from the clubs nearby kept us up all night. To make matters worse, after keeping quiet and not complaining about the rats, because they were nice enough to upgrade our room, we woke up one night to a loud commotion outside our door, two more rats in our room, snd the hotel cat outside our door trying to bring a dead rat into our room. We woke up in the morning with the dead rat head at our door. On our last day, preparing for departure, we took our things out of the safe and got ready to leave. We quickly went downstairs to a hotel next door to have breakfast (because the food at the hotel restaurant was nothing special). When we got back, we went to our wallets to get money to TIP the housekeeping, as we did the entire trip. They had yet to come clean our room that morning, but someone definitely passed by after we left the room because the rat head was no longer there, even though they hadn't cleaned our room yet. When we got to our wallets to tip the staff, ALL of our cash was missing. Apparently, the management thinks money has legs and just walked out of our wallets, as they made no effort to take responsibility for their staff- the only ones with the other key to our room. The cameras, which I could see in the office clearly worked, suddenly weren't working so they couldn't locate the thief. They even claimed that they didn't have another key to our room snd that nobody could open it if we weren't there- a clear lie because the housekeeping barged into our locked room while we were inside on numerous occasions. There was even a spare key hanging right behind the front desk with our room number on it. I could clearly see it and was in shock that the manager would sit there and lie to us. The housekeeping staff was all ordered to bring their bags out, after the manager took her sweet time going and giving them a speech and giving them enough time to take whatever they stole out of their bags before they brought it up for inspection. When we asked the manager to call the police, she refused, and when we asked to use their phone, because their wifi was trash and never worked, they refused to allow us to use it as well. To the sweet man that upgraded our room and the other sweet guy that worked at the front desk and sympathized and was so kind to us, thank you so much. I appreciate your hospitality. As for the Brazilian manager who failed to help us out and take any accountability for the HUNDREDS of dollars of cash that was stolen from our room, I hope the hotel realizes how terrible you are and speak to the guests.

Mezcal margarita was great!

Wow this place was underwhelming. There is NO WAY they can claim to be a 5-star, AAA four diamond…read moreluxury resort. That is the biggest lie. Having stayed at wonderful Hyatt properties, I expected more from this place but it under-delivered in every way. I've never been so disappointed in my vacationing experience. Barely anyone can communicate; the English across the staff at the resort was terrible. The food was AWFUL. Truly never been so disgusted by food in my travels. It is edible, but terrible quality and just doesn't taste good at all. The drinks aren't any good either. The setting is nice as far as the beach and jungle. The beach is rocky so not great for playing in the water but the palm trees and rocks lining the coast are pretty. But the overall experience leaves SO MUCH to be desired. If you want a cheap experience in Mexico I guess this is the place. But if you're looking for good food and drinks or top tier service, you must go elsewhere. We tried Seaside Grill (gross), Himitsu (worst hibachi we've tasted), Bordeaux (really bad), World Cafe (some decent offerings in the buffet but overall poor quality), Portofino (not good), and El Patio (best option but it's Mexican food so it should be great and it was so subpar). The drinks from the bars are so lackluster. Even the ice cream at the resort is terrible!! We had it in town and it was awesome. We went into town to have a really nice meal at ARCA and wow, Mexico does have fantastic food and drinks, they just cannot possibly be found at this resort. Taxis anywhere from the resort are highway robbery. We paid through the nose to taxi to this restaurant and explore a different part of town but it was worth it to have a meal outside of the resort. They didn't clean our room for three days because some obscure button was pressed that we didn't know about. We tried to get them to clean it but seriously no one knows English... when we finally flagged down a housekeeper after calling the front desk for days to clean our room, she showed the button was pressed (never told about this, no clue it existed) and just laughed at us and left the room. We booked excursions through the resort through Amstar and each one had its downside. One tour was supposed to include a restaurant lunch but didn't without a word about it. One, we were picked up first before picking up three more hotels in the opposite direction of our tour destination only to pass by our hotel after we'd been in the van for an hour and a half, just getting started on the road towards our actual tour. Photographers roam the resort to take photos of you. They offer "free photo shoots." They give you a QR code to access your photos. Can't even buy them online. You have to go into their photo shop to buy them before you leave so they can upsell you. No telling how expensive they are. Would like just one or two but won't get them now that we left because we can't purchase them online. Honestly, our experience here gave us a bad view of vacationing in Mexico. Would never recommend it. The review wouldn't be so harsh if they didn't call themselves a 5-star AAA four diamond resort. Never heard such a bold faced lie.

We ended up switching hotels. Please don't stay here. They need a massive overhaul of the whole place. My cousins room was around the corner from my room in the wooded area. I didn't feel safe walking back there. I thought she was playing with me when she said she was in the woods. I was scared it may have been raccoons in the woods but there was definite something outside their room. I quickly moved them to my room until we could get another room for the night. On our way to the other room we encountered several raccoons and cats eating out of the uncovered trash cans. We hadn't ate the whole day ended up at the French restaurant which was decent but we were all reluctant to eat after the roaches in the other restaurant. The other room was better but they charged us extra for that room for the one night. We quickly checked out the next day. Breakfast was lacking breakfast food it was more of cold cuts and danishes. Too much money spent for mediocrity.

But secondly they gave us a menu at each meal no matter the time, and over half the stuff on the menu they didn't have. For breakfast they had no breakfast meat. No bacon, no chorizo (shocking in Mexico), nothing. But they had turkey ham but inside an omelet. That's it! Wtf?! Like really?! They advertise multiple restaurants but they only have one. One. One, one effing dining room. Most staff don't speak English so if you need extras like pepper and salt you won't get it. Ketchup? Forget about it. Ice? Yea right! We had to literally walk over to the kitchen and say HEY! Sir! Can I have some ICE! Damn! Steak automatically comes with brown gravy. Oh and don't let me get started on the dessert. Carrot cake had no carrot in it what so ever! did not have any ACTUAL carrot flavoring in it at all! Seriously. I couldn't place the flavoring. The brownie cake or pie or whatever it was tasted like it was a "just add water" And poof! A dessert. The taste was so off putting it was far from edible. Man. The mousse cake tasted like some type of weird jelly? I couldn't really place what it was. Steak was rough and tough. Couldn't even cut it with a knife. And to top it all off. The bartender at the pool bar had the AUDACITY to tap on the tip jar with a spoon. So. are tips required? At an all inclusive resort? I'm just asking cause sir. What the entire fuck! I ended up throwing like $20 worth of ones in the jar cause we had a party of 12. But this resort needs new chefs. Immediately. I WILL NOT RETURN. No entertainment here, the island literally has nothing. No beach. No night life. Nothing. Glad I was only here for 3 days. Smh. Oh! The coffee? Fantastic! That is all!

For $2000 canadian we've got: a room that smells like a sewage, no beech towels, breakfast of horrible quality (after this experience, Cuban food would be like the one from the 5-star restaurant), NO BEACH, outdated shower with moldy floor. This is all our dissapointment in one statement. And it is only the 1st day. DO NOT BELIEVE THE DESCRIPTION OF THIS HOTEL ON THE INTERNET: no buffet, minimal juices, and they are not fresh. In addition, we went here to celebrate Christmas. Guess what? THE DO NOT OFFER A CHRISTMAS DINNER!

I don't think we could have picked a better place to spend our honeymoon!…read more I booked with Kasa mainly because of how beautiful the hotel looked in photos, but also because of all the great reviews. We stayed in one of the penthouse suites, and it was an absolute dream. I HIGHLY recommend booking through the hotel's website, as you'll get a lot of free perks that way. Free breakfast, free tequila, welcome cocktails, and a possible room upgrade if you booked one of the standard rooms. Our suite was lovely, but the best part is the private rooftop with your own pool.... It was the perfect place to wind down after a long day! There's also a pool in the center of the hotel, with a swim up bar. Their restaurant, Kocina, was fantastic. We went here almost every morning for breakfast and had a few dinners here as well. They will also bring your food to your room if you prefer, which was a great perk. The staff were incredible and helped us with everything we needed. We booked an excursion and our covid tests through the hotel, and they always kept great communication. The hotel used Whatsapp to text us, which I LOVED.... It was so easy to simply send a text rather than to call or walk down to the front desk. The location is nice, too. It is in a quiet area next to other boutique hotels and was a 30 minute walk to the main part of town. They also offered a free shuttle to take you to the beach. If you're thinking about staying in Tulum, I would definitely check out Kasa. It was amazing and made our time here even better with their hospitality

While visiting Playa del Carmen, we decided to make a 2-night side trip to nearby Tulum and were…read morestunned by how expensive hotels were in the area. I did some searching on a travel app and up popped La Conchita at a very reasonable price. And while the reviews were great, I still wasn't sure what to expect since this place was 1/3 the price of other nearby hotels. Well, all I can say is: wow. This adorable, hyperlocal little mini resort is everything we were looking for. It features a cluster of grass-roofed cabanas surrounding a lush, tropical courtyard filled with white Caribbean sand. Every room has an outdoor seating area (some larger than others) so you can enjoy the ocean - which is only steps away as La Conchita is located right on the beach. It was so amazing to be lulled asleep every night by the loud, crashing waves. The property is no frills - there's no on-site spa, bar, or restaurant. But there's a beach club literally right next door which you can order from while enjoying La Conchita's private (and complimentary to guests) palapas and beach mattresses. There are also massages available in the beach area for a reasonable price - we saw many people partaking of them while we were there. Our room itself was big, bright, and comfortable. The bed was luxurious, the bathroom small-but-clean; and the room contained all the basic amenities we could need for our short visit: a small fridge to keep the beers cold, and a Nespresso machine for morning coffee. Our unit (#5) faced the beach directly, and we spent lots of time on our patio, watching the waves crash and the palm trees blow in the breeze. There are also several restaurants and bars lining the street, all within walking distance. Our favorite was Potheads, and elevated coffee shop with delicious food (and espresso, of course). We also dined at the tapas bar next door and it was delicious. They also offer a 10% discount to La Conchita guests for breakfast and dinner. When we left La Conchita we both agreed we can't wait to go back here on our next trip to the area!
