Unbeatable value for the money... has camping and very basic rooms - no mosquito nets, no blankets…read more(just sheet), no AC, no hot water. But it is THE only affordable place along the beach. Not on the beach, but a short walk across the street and you are at the southern end of the Tulum beach, which is the least busy part and some of the safest swimming, and miles to walk south into the reserve. Also a mostly-above ground cenote behind the hotel makes for great swimming (warmer than the ocean) and kayaking. We paid around 37US for a room with two double beds and an en suite bathroom (the bathroom isn't very nice, though), and could not find anything else along the beach for less than 50US, and nothing with en suite bathrooms for less than 100US. You are paying for the location around there, and if you don't mind basic, this is the only place for shoestring travelers to stay. Be aware of location... on the right as you drive south, you pass Xbalamque (which is more basic for double the price), then Cenote Encantado (which is expensive - but has practically the same name), then Encanto. All are close together. Manager Alexis speaks good English and is very helpful. Self-catering kitchen.

We were tired, hungry, and a little nervous about being in a foreign country with nowhere to stay. We had no number and no address, but I did see online that Shambala was next door. I called the number-which was also difficult to figure out because of the area codes, etc. Roberto, the owner, answered with perfect English and directed us back to his hotel to help us. He informed us that there had been some unfortunate events next door and gave us the owners phone number to try to get our deposit back. Roberto and his staff are so kind and welcoming. He rented two cabanas to my family and it was the most memorable, beautiful vacation we've ever had. This is not a resort. If you're looking for that, you've come to the wrong part of town. These are beautiful ecological beachside cabanas. No, there is no A/C but you don't need it. The breeze from the Caribbean Sea at night is enough to keep you cool. Breakfast is included and delicious. The homemade granola is the best I've ever had. On our last night we happened to see a turtle hatching-coolest thing ever! Roberto made us feel like family, gave us recommendations on food and touristy type things. He saved our vacation! I will be back to Shambala as soon as possible.

The kitchen and grounds staff are friendly and very trustworthy, never once was I at all annoyed or disappointed. The food is incredible, served at designated mealtimes in the most beautiful way. They will accommodate your special diet. (Everything is triple-washed, all water triple-ionized... you can relax and eat everything they give you.) There is a resident massage therapist named Mari who does incredible work. Oh, and the yoga studio is a work of art! Roberto, the owner, conducts his work with integrity and has a real passion for providing a quality experience. They are continually making minor improvements to their operation. I've spent some incredibly happy and restorative days here and definitely hope to return.

I would describe the hotel as "one lot back" from the beach. the location is excellent and in a way... it is on the beach because of te extense of the beach, but there is another building between the sea and the Amar Inn so it is not oceanfront... though some rooms probably have sea view depending on how they are situated. But there is a little road to the beach. Perfect. Puerto morelos is a quiet relaxing town. We are too old for playa del carmen. We love to just chill here. We did NOT encounter rude/inattentive servers, but quite the opposite! We were greated by a hostess who showed us around to some available seats for us to choose from and we were quickly served 2 ICE COLD beers...literally ice cold with ice floating in necks! Didn't get to try any mixed DRINKS as we were meeting our party at another restaurant but the menu looked amazing with a good selection of cocktails. I definitely recommend a stop in to this gem of a bar! It is adults only so no kids. Nice setup, cold beer, and clean unique bathroom

This is maybe my 15th(?) stay at Casa Sirena, and it is always the recharge that my battery needs. Covid testing is very handy around the corner from the hotel. Each evening (except Sundays) ends with a rooftop happy hour hosted by the ever charming owner, Steve. Always fun to meet the other guests while enjoying a margarita and that evenings entertainment (usually a talented local musician, but Fridays are a super cool magician- really!) The rooms are cute and comfortable, with personal espresso machines and a cold beer in the fridge. Can't say enough great things about Casa Sirena- stay once and you'll never go anywhere else!

But when you walk through the (passcode protected) entryway, it's like that scene from 'Wizard of Oz' when everything turns to color. If I'm not mistaken, there are eight units tucked away in this little tropical paradise. Some are three bedroom while others are four. (Our unit had three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.) In each unit: full kitchen, dining room and living area with couches and chairs. Not to mention, the master bedroom features a small outside balcony with table and chairs. Want to lounge outside your front door? You can hook up a hammock, or sit in one of the chairs and watch the two cats on the property, or the occasional hummingbird. Or just read to your heart's content. A light breakfast is provided each morning -- pastries, coffee and juices -- in an outdoor cafe setting. Villas Colibri also features a moderately sized pool, for folks who don't want to trek elsewhere to get wet. Thankfully, this place is smoke-free. Villas Colibri isn't exactly off the beaten path -- it sits near a fire station and amongst several retail stores and eateries -- it is a five-minute drive to the main shoreline avenue, where thousands of cruise-goers hang out for hours on end taking free tequila shots and looking for Mexican tchotchke to take back home. In other words, if you want a really good taco that's made for locals, there are three joints within a two-minute walk. There is also a convenience store around the corner for your beer, soda and snack desires. Not only are these businesses patronized by residents, they are actually priced for residents. That leads me to the only real negative about this place. While you are secluded, there is the occasional noise of traffic that bleeds through the walls and palm cover. During our week there, the fire station next door also received a few emergency calls. Not a big deal. Villas Colibri is smack dab in the middle of town, after all. Finally, I cannot say enough about the crew working here. Everyone is polite and eager to help in any way possible, including snagging us a few cabs and making reservations for a chocolate-making class.
