I should mention, I was traveling with my husband and my three children, the youngest of which is under 2. We were tired, hungry, and a little nervous about being in a foreign country with nowhere to stay. We had no number and no address, but I did see online that Shambala was next door. I called the number-which was also difficult to figure out because of the area codes, etc. Roberto, the owner, answered with perfect English and directed us back to his hotel to help us. He informed us that there had been some unfortunate events next door and gave us the owners phone number to try to get our deposit back. Roberto and his staff are so kind and welcoming. He rented two cabanas to my family and it was the most memorable, beautiful vacation we've ever had. This is not a resort. If you're looking for that, you've come to the wrong part of town. These are beautiful ecological beachside cabanas. No, there is no A/C but you don't need it. The breeze from the Caribbean Sea at night is enough to keep you cool. Breakfast is included and delicious. The homemade granola is the best I've ever had. On our last night we happened to see a turtle hatching-coolest thing ever! Roberto made us feel like family, gave us recommendations on food and touristy type things. He saved our vacation! I will be back to Shambala as soon as possible.

The grounds and beachfront are basically perfect, so even though I'm a long beach-walker I found myself most days not going anywhere and just enjoying the site. All of the rooms are beautifully architected and attentively cleaned on a daily basis. The kitchen and grounds staff are friendly and very trustworthy, never once was I at all annoyed or disappointed. The food is incredible, served at designated mealtimes in the most beautiful way. They will accommodate your special diet. (Everything is triple-washed, all water triple-ionized... you can relax and eat everything they give you.) There is a resident massage therapist named Mari who does incredible work. Oh, and the yoga studio is a work of art! Roberto, the owner, conducts his work with integrity and has a real passion for providing a quality experience. They are continually making minor improvements to their operation. I've spent some incredibly happy and restorative days here and definitely hope to return.

The Amar Inn was adorable and the staff were very friendly and nice. Our room was clean and bathroom too. I could totally come back and stay in Puerto Morelos in the future. It's more of a sleepy beach town in comparison to the more developed cities nearby. There was also a very cute dog that belonged to the owner and hung out in the patio area.

It is a beautifully manicured place with some rooms, some cabins... and a delicious, like 3 course breakfast. First some kind of bread or toast item, then fruit and yogurt, then like chciken fajitas and beans with flour tortillas that seemed homemade, or maybe a delicious fresh tostada. The breakfasts change and they even asked if we were able to eat different foods - really the family is so beautiful and considerate and calm. honestly it is perfect. We had a delightful cabin with two double beds, a tv, a/c a kitchen, dining table, bathroom and furniture. It was great. It had a rustic aspect, and a rustic thing happened lol. Even though i would not exactly call an apartment with electricity and cable rustic... it is in a certain way. I just can't bring myself to say what lol. I would describe the hotel as "one lot back" from the beach. the location is excellent and in a way... it is on the beach because of te extense of the beach, but there is another building between the sea and the Amar Inn so it is not oceanfront... though some rooms probably have sea view depending on how they are situated. But there is a little road to the beach. Perfect. Puerto morelos is a quiet relaxing town. We are too old for playa del carmen. We love to just chill here. There are some great relaxing restaurants on the sea.... once you are hungry after eating an insanely huge brekfast. Thanks Amar Inn - Do your thing! We will never forget you!

We are all vaccinated, but we never felt that people were being anything but extremely careful all around the island. Love you, Steve, and hope to see you again soon...with or without the boys!

Always fun to meet the other guests while enjoying a margarita and that evenings entertainment (usually a talented local musician, but Fridays are a super cool magician- really!) No their kids weren't born with piles of fur.... they are parents to rescue doggies who are so amazing, even if you were not a dog or pet person you would fall in love!!! The cozy and natively decorated rooms stay cool with a breeze that enters the room when your windows are open. Ceiling fan adds a special touch for those extreme days so you can stay refreshed. The town is safe, friendly, and full of things to do. Paul and Beate's bed and breakfast is like home away from home with people who really care about you. They know a lot about where to go and what to do. Their cooking is amazing. I for one am a very picky eater and not Vegan. My wife is Vegan and Casa Axis Muni's cuisine is wooooooooowwww!!! Reminds me of being a child and eating with my grandpa in the morning. Always a yummy papaya, fresh local fruit, fresh juices, and today we even had a treat with roasted baby banana topped with hemp hearts and roasted nuts. We will miss you guys !!! Beate may all your family be great upon your visit to Germany and you are here with us too and we are with you in your heart. Bless all your loved ones. Thank you all for everything ! But when you walk through the (passcode protected) entryway, it's like that scene from 'Wizard of Oz' when everything turns to color. If I'm not mistaken, there are eight units tucked away in this little tropical paradise. Some are three bedroom while others are four. (Our unit had three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.) In each unit: full kitchen, dining room and living area with couches and chairs. Not to mention, the master bedroom features a small outside balcony with table and chairs. Want to lounge outside your front door? You can hook up a hammock, or sit in one of the chairs and watch the two cats on the property, or the occasional hummingbird. Or just read to your heart's content. A light breakfast is provided each morning -- pastries, coffee and juices -- in an outdoor cafe setting. Villas Colibri also features a moderately sized pool, for folks who don't want to trek elsewhere to get wet. Thankfully, this place is smoke-free. Villas Colibri isn't exactly off the beaten path -- it sits near a fire station and amongst several retail stores and eateries -- it is a five-minute drive to the main shoreline avenue, where thousands of cruise-goers hang out for hours on end taking free tequila shots and looking for Mexican tchotchke to take back home. In other words, if you want a really good taco that's made for locals, there are three joints within a two-minute walk. There is also a convenience store around the corner for your beer, soda and snack desires. Not only are these businesses patronized by residents, they are actually priced for residents. That leads me to the only real negative about this place. While you are secluded, there is the occasional noise of traffic that bleeds through the walls and palm cover. During our week there, the fire station next door also received a few emergency calls. Not a big deal. Villas Colibri is smack dab in the middle of town, after all. Finally, I cannot say enough about the crew working here. Everyone is polite and eager to help in any way possible, including snagging us a few cabs and making reservations for a chocolate-making class.
