As spectacular as Tulum itself is the pristine beach preserved below it. On a good day during the right time of year, expect warm, crystal blue waters and decent swimming in the shadow of the ancient man made wonders above. Just in terms of beaches and beauty, this is well-worth the price of admission all on its own. I have paid two visits to this park and, depending on the season, had two different experiences. One was the aforementioned slice of paradise when the beach was nothing but picture-perfect beauty. The other was during a summer tropical storm where the water was brown from all the kicked up sand, full of seawood and the waves were high and dangerous. Pick the time of year carefully to visit (the fall or early in the winter is better) and you'll be fine. read more

Take it from me - this is a cool beach. One of the best beaches anywhere, and I know of whence I speak. Fine-grained bleached sand, and gentle waves that lap the shoreline. You walk far out in the water and its still shallow. Shade spots from the palms as you sit on the sand (extra points!) and unoccupied lounge chairs just waiting for your butt (yes, yours!) with no penny pinching money sucker in sight. Our experience with Mia Property management in Tulum Mexico was a disaster. From the very beginning nothing worked.The stove was broke. Once in a while it shows like it's going to start heating up and then two minutes later goes off. We never had enough pillows for everybody. There's five people here we pay for but they were four pillows. When Mia Properties suggested to send us to the other apartment across the complex to use the stove to cook as a desperate option there were bugs lined up on the floor I'll leave you the picture in this message. That stove also is not working. The same error message on our stove is showing there. The upstairs pool is filled with water and has algae lining the bottom. The worst part is there was no door to close from the outside to prevent any bugs from coming in so for the first 60 hours of our trip we were getting attacked by mosquitoes and bugs. I have pictures of thisOther than that I think the property is nice overall. . I posted on social media about the actual aesthetics of your courtyard and pool area. The overall unit is fantastic the design is wonderful we like the layout. But when you're on vacation with your family who my wife hasn't seen her mom and dad for five years and then meeting their granddaughter for the first time and I'm dealing With all of this on today Father's Day. My suggestion is if you have another property offsite somewhere else maybe it's more expensive but if it's available move us right now. We have today tomorrow and Tuesday left that'll be a great way to salvage this vacation.we asked to be refunded for the first 3 days at the Saskab Tulum property. O vacation we obviously planned on going out we have reservations for a couple fancy dinners out but other than that our families Venezuelan we like to cook and spend time together. And when you can't cook on a five day trip it takes the fun out of it to a certain degree. Finally on Father's Day they gave us a different property 10 minutes away that was a lot better. Of course that day I spent three hours moving everyone's luggage to the new spot not how I planned on spending my vacation on Father's Day. The last 2 1/2 days were up to par as far as how we should've been taken care of begin with. We were grateful for this. That doesn't change the fact that the first 2 1/2 days we were miserable and get eaten up by bugs since I placed it at the door. I requested a refund immediately within 24 hours when I requested it again when I get home they told me they don't do refunds because it wasn't requested in the first 24 hours. I have a request for a refund winter hours and will screenshot it and included in his post. If you ever see this rental company Mia or this complex Saskab in Tulum just RUN AWAY. It's a bush league set up with incompetence at its worst. read more

It was lovely as a medieval fantasy, with all those structures shaped like castles on seemingly endless fields of grass, right by the shore. However, beware-- it's more humid than a rainforest! The two-hour tour even beat ME up, and I'm a creature of summer! If you walk to the entrance of Tulum, you will run into lots interesting creatures you can take photos with. It was nice. read more

Arrived 7-22-23 with family of six at Cancun airport. Rental van reserved 6 months ago, Mex Rental extorted an additional $350 in fees for inability to prove beyond doubt that our EXTREMELY good auto insurance did state in writing included Mexico. Stopped for fuel on the way to Tulum and the gas attendant would only accept cash. We handed him two 20's and he swapped one of our 20's for one dollar and started yelling for attention. Gave more money and left. Arrived in Tulum at bnb and my son simply moved the rental vehicle closer to bnb and was surrounded by local police and they extorted him for all the cash he had in his pocket, $160 cash, for planting cocaine in the rental. SCARED HIM TO DEATH AND HE RAN AWAY TO OUR SAFETY. Son is 6'3", 200lbs and ex military. EVERY PERSON IN MEXICO we had contact with was never truthful with money and always wanted more. 7days of misery in Tulum Mexico and we have traveled all over the world with great satisfaction. NEVER GO AGAIN. The last night there our son in law, police officer, moved the rental and they surrounded him, made him drive to the jail, demanded money son said no, took his driver's license, demanded money son said no, screamed at him to sign tickets son said no, they said they would keep his driver's license son yelled back keep my license and left. read more

Lots of Mexican History. If you haven't gone you have to go at least once. You must have Pesos to use the bus that takes you to the site ($5 per person). You also have to pay for parking in Pesos! Depending on what tome of the year you go ( we went in May) it can be "stupid it and humid". Definitely bring water to carry during your tome walking. Buy one of those insulated containers (put a little ice in l) filled with water or of your choice. I'm glad I went but won't go back. read more

Absolutely amazing. I can write a short story about this beach but I shall try to contain myself. There is absolutely nothing that is not good about this beach! So here is a summary and some key highlights about Tulum beach: - The beach is very long and so I would highly recommend if you are not driving (which consists of the vast majority from outside of the US or Canada), to rent a bike and find a spot that best suits you. Given the diverse nature of the beach and the rainforest in the background, some parts of the beach are more wider, some rocky, some with very small stretch of beach itself. But there is something for everyone. - The beach closest to the resorts tend to get busier. So the rule of thumb is, the further south you go, the less crowd you will get to share the beach with. So it all comes down to what you are really looking for. Unlike most beaches in big towns, the beach isn't the property of a resort it is next to. So basically you can pick and choose and park yourself wherever you feel like. Obviously, as a common courtesy, you will not lounge on resort beach beds if you are not staying there. :o) Just bring your own beach towels and you are good to go. - From experience, the first half of the day tends to get more crowded. Still, I would not call that crowd at all, given how big the beach is. To pick the best time of the day to be under the sun, I would try to get the most accurate weather forecast a day in advance and plan accordingly. - Be prepared for some challenging waves if swimming is your thing. Again, depends mainly on the weather of the day, but the winds can get wild and the waters are more conducive to surfing than swimming. So if you have those rented surf boards, make the most of em. - Drinking water/Food/etc: It depends on where you are on the beach. They are more near the start or the northern stretch of the beach. The further south you go, the main road does not have too many shops closer to the main beach. So always carry essentials if you are planning a long day at the beach. A portable cooler and a small bag pack is highly recommended. I cannot recall any shops that are at a walking distance from the quieter parts of the beach. There are mostly resorts with their lobby shops depending on where you plan on soaking in the sun. - Safe: Absolutely nothing to worry about safety. There are no miscreants that I could see walking around aimlessly. One of the Safest areas I have been to - probably anywhere in the world. It has to do with this state and the nice people here. They do not get into your business and really let you be. The beach was almost always full of tourists and everyone was having simply a blissful time. Other than the above, all I can say is - just enjoy the endless beauty of this heavenly beach. If you are staying at any of the resorts with a beach access to this paradise, you know how lucky you are. But even if you decided to stay in downtown Tulum due to low hotel cost, biking up to this beach for a day of sun n sand - you will be reminiscing fond memories of moments spent here, for a long long time...! read more

Tulum Beach is truly a lovely beach although I will tell you the good and the bad from my visit week long visit the first week of February. We stayed in the city and drove to the beach in the mornings, but my experience is based off that. Good: The beach is huge, I walked for hours and didn't see an end. You will never be short of beauty, the sound of waves crashing on the shore or palm tree photo opportunities. Clean, smooth sand; no sea shells, the ability to walk without burning your feet and even freshly racked every morning! If you're looking for a drink, there are PLENTY of places. In fact, you probably won't find a spot that doesn't run parallel with a hotel. Sitting and umbrellas galore. You won't need to bring your own beach towel, chair or umbrella because they're everywhere (although you'll have to "pay" for it someway). No unfriendly sea creature--at least from my experience, I didn't run into any jelly fish or anything I would be concerned about. No seagull either! Many of the hotels along the beach have swimming pools, so even if the ocean is rough, there's always a back-up plan. Bad: Rough waves; I couldn't do much actual swimming in the ocean as the waves were every rough during our week long visit. You'll find sand coating your swimsuit, hair, etc from the large waves crashing to shore. Hope you enjoy seaweed! Every morning the seaweed is literally racked and buried at the nicer hotels so their patrons can enjoy a seaweed free view--at least for a couple hours, before it builds up again from the ocean! Prices are high! You're not going to be paying "Mexico prices" if you stop at the resorts along the beach. Expect to pay for your seat ($10 was the average if you also purchased lunch). Every hotel is different, so ask before you settle in. Also, there are rules for hotel patrons vs. guest, so make sure you ask about that. You will be solicited, regardless of if you're at a hotel as an already paying customer. You won't be harassed to buy things which is nice, simple say "no gracias" and they're turn away. Overall, Tulum Beach was truly lovely, albeit the ocean was rough on my visit, the weather was warm, the water temperature enjoyable, staff along the beach is friendly, it's very quiet. If you're looking to relax and get a tan, this is a stop meant for you! read more

Seems to be a problem in the carribbean right now all around. Cant be helped and will only change when nature runs its course. Beautiful beach and very private. The sand was white, and resembled pearls. The water was a beautiful shade of blue, and coconut palm trees adorned the beach. Beautiful but needs to be protected from garbage dumpers. I spent 10mins in ocean and had plastic get caught in me a couple times so I ended up spending all my time cleaning big pieces of plastic debris from the water and ended up with so much I couldn't carry it with both hands. read more
