Akiin has a wonderful beach club setting right by the amazing Tulum beach and the food, cocktails, and service match the location. We started with their great Akiin guacamole - avocado freshness to the win - followed by the Akiin ceviche - a mix of shrimp, octopus, and fish, all swimming in a spice and lime juice that you won't regret. For mains we had the cochinila pebil tacos (typical suckling pig from the area) that were outstanding, as well as the octopus tacos, equally very good. The cocktails are creative and delicious as well - we had both a house mezcal passion fruit cocktail and a strawberry margarita on the rocks and would go to bat for both. Really recommended in an amazing stretch of beach and fun south of Tulum that everyone should get out of their resort (if that's where they're staying) and explore.

Beautiful beach club. Great service! Delicious food and with a DJ! Would totally recommend!

There are a lot of overpriced underwhelming beach clubs along Tulum beach but Akiin is not one of them. The staff is very welcoming, the venue is beautiful, the daybeds are plentiful and comfortable, the drinks are delicious as is the food! I had the tacos de camarones which were sooo good. Middle of the road on prices. Pretty much what you'd pay in the states but no minimums which is nice and also difficult to find on the beach. They have a few masseuses if you wan't a massage, swing seats and they play music.

I try to reserve my 5 star reviews for places that truly deserve it. We came to Akiin Dayclub and ended up lounging for 6 hours. We asked how much it was to sit at their beds. They stated that we could stay if we spent $1000 pesos ($50USD) between the two of us. Staff were attentive without being overwhelming. They did try to push a massage but did not attempt again after we respectfully declined. At the time we went it was 2 for 1 beers (and something else I do not remember). This allowed us to drink all day (we are not heavy drinkers but wanted to enjoy a full day of moderate drinking) without a huge pricetag. We only spent roughly $55-$60 USD during our entire day there! We did eat a small lunch, both tasted great. I got the vegetables with onion puree. I think the vegetables were carrot, pumpkin, and turnip but I am not entirely sure. My sister-in-law ordered the guacamole and chips. She said it was great. We tipped well in the end (about 100%) because we were so pleased! Due to this, staff offered us complimentary Mezcal or Tequila shots while leaving. We chose the Mezcal. I am not a liquor person but we did our best! They thanked us for coming and we felt like friends after leaving. We would definitely return again in the future if life brings us back to Tulum!

akiin beach club has a really nice atmosphere and a good choice in calm pop always pumping at a good tone stunning views comfortable seating and is well maintained my only peeve was the guacamole 120pesos which is some what reasonable portion size was small but i don't hold a grudge against that it was just mashed avocado but besides that akiin was great

Their system was down and none of my cards went through for payment according to the staff. My waitress asked if I could to please tip her in cash because tips on CC are split amongst other waiters and (shockingly) management. After trying different cards several times I had the displeasure of being escorted to a reception area across the street where I met a vicious manager named Gabriela. They ran our cards several more times and held us there for altogether about 45 minutes. Gabriela was very rude during the entire interaction and even threatened the waiter that was present that if he allowed us to leave the bill would be on him. I checked my banking apps and saw the charge pending EIGHT times, and showed this to Gabriella but she said that the charges are not going through because if they had she would have gotten an email. I told her she hasn't gotten anything because clearly her system was down, their whole WiFi was not working. When I asked for a supervisor she said she was the only supervisor there. I left my name, email and hotel I was at but told them I was leaving. I had been treated the entire time as if I was a thief trying to skip out on the bill despite offering several cards for payment. Needless to say I do not recommend this overpriced restaurant or the hotel considering you'll be dealing with a manager with an utter lack of customer service skills and staff that are certainly being taken advantage of.

Michelle and Aleza are both thoughtful, kind, and warm. They genuinely listen to your ideas and work to go the extra mile to make sure your vision is realized. At points where my husband and I were struggling to make decisions, they figured out how to get us extra time but were also clear when there wasn't wiggle room. Additionally, as locals to Playa del Carmen, they know the Cancun and Riviera Maya region inside and out, so they have access to the best and most reliable vendors. In the end, we had three nights of events across two hotels. All the logistics went off without a hitch. I'd highly recommend using My Perfect Wedding. From our very first planning visit to Banyan Tree in March, through countless Zoom calls coordinating vendors and contracts, Michelle kept us calm and reassured us that any idea we had was possible. The ceremony felt magical and we're still hearing rave reviews about all of the details. We couldn't have pulled off this weekend without Michelle's guidance and resourcefulness. Even when the weather forced last-minute venue relocations--and we made last-minute changes to the tabletop--Michelle and her staff handled everything seamlessly. They never missed a beat, and went above and beyond to accommodate our (admittedly high-maintenance!) requests. Our family and guests enjoyed a truly enchanting weekend, and it was the storybook wedding we always dreamed of. We are beyond grateful to Michelle for giving us the most 'perfect wedding year.' We highly recommend My Perfect Wedding to anyone seeking a stress-free, personalized, and unforgettable wedding experience!

It was inhabited from the 13th to 15th centuries and played an important role in defense and trade. My husband and I toured the Tulum ruins with a tour guide. We saw the structures El Castillo, a castle overlooking the beautiful shore; the Temple of the Frescoes, which has wall murals; the Temple of the Descending God; Casa del Chultun; and many others. The ruins were roped off, so we could see them only from a distance and not touch them, but they still looked impressive and interesting. We also enjoyed seeing wildlife such as iguanas. We were disappointed when we booked as there were no swim-up rooms available. Little did we know that the beachfront rooftop room was everything we wanted. The balcony has two sets of double doors, one with screens so that you can leave it open to hear the waves crashing at night. So relaxing. The staff was very responsive even before we arrived. The rooms are a good size and have adequate storage for all of your baggage! The pool was nice, but we spent all of our leisure time on the beach. The private beach area has loungers, beds, cabanas as well as a set of swings. One thing to note, if you visit between May and October, be prepared to see seaweed on the beaches of the Caribbean coast of Mexico during that time. Seaweed is beyond their control, and I certainly will not dock Cabanas for that in my review. Cabanas is in the middle of everything. We were able to bike ride and walk to most places. After long days out on the beach or exploring Tulum, Cabanas was a welcome retreat at the end of each day. I selfishly want to keep this place a secret, but sharing is caring. Sitting next to Hartwood (another excellent establishment) in the busy downtown section of Tulum's hotel zone the restaurant is a beautiful indoor / outdoor set-up with plenty of space, seats and airy aesthetics. Like many similar restaurants they incorporate lots of wood elements and despite the high number of mosquitoes and bugs they try their best to deal with the swarms of insects by spraying incense and adding fans. In October, during the low and rainy season, it was quite empty (only 3-4 other tables besides us) though the stifling heat and humidity, was probably a large driver of that. They offer three seatings at 5:30, 7:00 (maybe 7:30?) and 9:00PM so we chose the earlier one while it was still bright. The food is creative, delicious and small portions (as you'd expect from a fine-dining establishment) and I appreciate that they offer to add or split items depending on your party's needs. For example, one of our members is a vegetarian so they offered to make one of the crab tacos (they come in pairs of two) vegan for us and at a lower rate. My personal favorite item was the crab esquite, which was like a mix of a corn salad and crab meat which was both filling and delicious. Other items like the crudo were fun and tasty, though portions were very small. Our waiter recommended that we each order at least 2 dishes (we ended up with ~9) for a proper meal as it's tapas-style. Towards the end of the meal as it was getting dark all of the power shut off. Unfortunately it seems like it's a somewhat regular occurrence; while at first I was understanding given the area seemed to have been impacted we noticed that all of the other restaurants seemed to have power and it was just ARCA that was without. It made going to the bathroom challenging given the pitch-black nature of the jungle around 8PM and the candles weren't enough to see much. Their backup generator also seemed to go out multiple times so I hope they improve their infrastructure going forward.
