This beach club was super fun! Located in the heart of Tulum, Mexico. It gave iii points vibes honestly, when you walk in it's as if you're walking into a trippy garden. There's someone doing face jewels as soon as you walk in, not sure how much it was but it looked super pretty. There's a system to get drinks where you reload your wristband with money and they scan it every time you order a drink to deduct each transaction. The only bad thing is that whatever you have left on the bracelet goes to waste because you can't get your money back. Each drink was kinda pricey, between $30-$40. I would suggest pre-gaming before coming or buying a table. The music was good, it was a lot of tiki tiki. There is a beach view from the dance floor. Everyone was very nice, the staff were extremely busy but attended each customer in a timely manner. I ordered an espresso martini, the presentation was great but the taste wasn't as balanced as I preferred. It taste more like tequila rather than coffee. I then switched back to vodka/sodas. We stayed at the Papaya Playa Project, and so obviously this beach bar was part of our daily routine: grab a carajillo each morning from the bar, lay out on the beach and order margs and ceviche from the waitstaff... but the highlight of our stay (other than our friend's wedding), was the full moon dance party they host every full moon. There is no cover for hotel guests. They had live music, artists doing body paint, dancers... If you're staying in Tulum and your hotel or airbnb tragically doesn't have a pool or beach access, consider reservations at Papaya Playa Beach Bar. Came here on Sunday for brunch and had a pretty good time. The beach club itself is beautiful, you have to spend a minimum to be able to use the beach club amenities. They have a nice pool and day chairs/umbrellas. The food is also pretty tasty here. I ordered the pork tacos and they were yummy. Really lovely beach club in Tulum! Very chill and breezy - my friends and I stayed the whole day. At a 1000 peso / person minimum spend, we were able to secure 3 beach beds (for 6 people). We also ordered some tacos, which was absolutely delicious and fresh! And the cocktails were fantastic, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I had an amazing time this at this place great the vibes super chill, food was amazing I had chicken with veggies and salad! I remember the name now it was called grilled chicken couscous I believe lol. But besides the food we just sad in the pool ordered drinks and just hung out and chatted with a few locals who worked there and other tourists. This is in regards to their beach club.. Made a reservation through openTable for their beach club on a Friday early afternoon. On arrival everything went smoothly- they did temperature check, sanitizing hands and masks upon entrance. When we got there the space was so beautiful, it had a chill cool vibe nothing crazy (compared to Taboo). We had to pay I think $50 minimum to get access to a beach bed, towels and pool- which was reasonable IMO. The service was great, the server was very attentive and always seemed to be around in case we wanted food or drinks. Drinks were around $14ish each for cocktails which were kinda light on the alcohol but tasted so good- recommend getting the grapefruit margarita and the nina Fresca cocktails. For food we got the fish ceviche which was really good too. The space itself was fabulous, the beach beds were comfortable and some of the had shade on top, they also had these cool beach loungers if you wanted to lay out comfortably and tan as well! They do their best to clean the beach but there was still some seaweed (all of Tulum has it). We went to Papaya for special night event called Moongaze. We chose the option to reserve a table. When you pay for the table that amount you spend goes towards your consumption of drinks and food. If you spend more , then you need to pay the difference and it was not a case for us. The check in for event was flawless. The decorations, lightning and illuminated grounds were amazing. We were given a table and we were introduced to two servers that would be taking care of us. The music started very quickly, i believe there were three DJ`s performing for the whole night. The music was very vibe, techno-Tulum style. There were also few great shows in the middle of that music event. For the food and drinks: The food was great, I mean really, really good. ( We went to Bagatelle day before for lunch and the food was bland, completely out of taste, way overpriced!!). We took Tacos, lamb and tuna Tostadas and we were full and happy. Drinks were also great, just wish the beer selection could include some craft beers like Tulum Lager or Pescadores. The service was top notch, when we ordered drinks and went to dance in the crowd our server even found us there to give us drinks, it was so nice :) We partied almost to the end of the event which was 3am. I am thanking Papaya Club for a great nigh and good vibes we had that night!! We would love to come back in the future :)) P.S. Beware of the taxi service late at night. We heard that this was the place TO BE on a weekend. It costs $600 pesos for regular admission. About $1800 USD for bottle service. And $100 pesos for each shot or cocktail. You do have to get a drink wristband, and "load" pre-paid money onto the wristband in order to get a drink at the bar. Which was super easy and quick to do. They have one main bar at the top when you enter. And different levels of bottle service tables, and a main DJ stage and dance floor on the bottom where the sand lays next to the ocean. They played a mix of EDM and spanish music, and in my opinion, it was pretty poppin' and I had a good time dancing and meeting new people. read more

I came here for their legendary full moon party and had a blast. When we got there I was surprised by their cover charge, which was about 600 pesos if I remember correctly. You also have to purchase drink tickets then use them at the bar. One ticket will get you a beer, water, etc. Two will get you a proper cocktail. 80 pesos a ticket. Still cheaper than LA prices. There is an option to purchase bottle service as well, but that was pretty pricey. The location is beautiful. Right on the beach with a wonderful breeze. Beautiful people. The cocktails are pretty weak. They're measured ever-so precisely, so you will need to get a few. However, you wouldn't know they're weak by looking at all the drunk people as it got later into the night. Speaking of, the stair situation throughout the place is very hazardous for tipsy people! The steps are so well camouflaged and it's so dark, so be careful! The music is very house/techno. The ambiance is too much to capture in photographs, so just imagine the music, the ocean breeze, beautiful people (for the most part haha), and tropical trees swaying all around you. One of the cooler clubs I have ever been to. The vibe is chill and it has the deep house feel to it. The music is different if your used to the clubs in las vegas but once you listen you will be hooked. The club is pretty much integrated into the jungle and is unlike anything I have seen. There a lot of cool areas to hang out and have a good time. It does get crowded but it wasn't overwhelming so don't worry. We had a table overlooking the dance floor which should be the go-to spot if you come. Check out the video... It was awesome! I forgot how much we paid for the table but I don't think it was bad. What was surprising was that the club closes at 3am. Surprising since I thought that the clubs close later here. It was time to go anyway around that time so all good. This place has potential. I think the staff could definitely use an upgrade. Typical of any busy club or bar, the drink service basically sucks. Totally useless selection of beer. The DJ was not even a DJ and couldn't mix if his life depended on it. He was playing good tracks, but he had no idea what he was doing and THAT was disappointing considering the 500 pesos cover charge. If you can't scrape up enough money to pay a real DJ, don't charge a cover to enter. Plain and simple. The design of this place is unique, but overall it's hyped up to be something amazing, which it is not. It's trendy and the crowd is also trendy. I doubt they care about the music quality as long as they can order some crappy tequila and get drunk. With that said, the beach area is nice and an excellent spot to watch the stars with live music in the background. Maybe I would go again, maybe not. This place has huge potential. The architecture is amazing and it's pretty well laid out so everyone can see the dance floor and DJ booth. It's awesome having bathrooms that flush well and take TP. We went on a Saturday for a good tech house DJ, but no one special. However, the price to get in was outrageous. The doorman quoted us 400 pesos to $24. I wanted to walk way because I don't even pay that in Miami, but my friend said screw it and paid for all of us. The drink situation is bizarre. You have to wait in line to buy tickets to buy drinks. There are only two bartenders at the main bar and after each order they hand over the tickets to a girl who keeps track of how many they make. I get that they're trying to avoid comping drinks or stealing money, but for the caliber of club they should hire people that they trust to expedite all of it. Spent so much time waiting for drinks that it really killed the vibe. Drinks are fairly cheap. One ticket is 80 pesos, so a beer is around $4-5. Mixed drinks were two tickets. The crowd was pretty friendly. Typical Tulum. There are a lot of groups of 20 something white girls. The whole dynamic is off, but nothing you can do about that. Main idea: Delicious food, beautiful beachfront, way overpriced. We stopped by after exploring the Tulum Ruins, looking for a beachfront spot to get some food and beers. The food menu prices are steep - over 200 pesos per dish, with many dishes much higher. So we ended up just getting chips and salsa. The salsas are DELICIOUS! And the homemade chips were great as well. The beachfront is beautiful, and the waiters have service down on the beach as well so you can stay stocked on beer. The cheap beers are 35 pesos, which is great; but the cocktails are all 100p or more. I would love to come back again for a smoothie or drinks, but probably not for a meal. read more

Came here twice - during the day for a $14 drink which was okay. Then returned for a full moon party. The Sat night party was a cover of $600 pesos! It was full of techno - nothing else. Good techno, but no other genre. To get a drink at the bar, you must first buy a drink ticket at one of two windows that aren't even by the bar. Super inconvenient. The party scene was not what I had in mind for Tulum. Especially since I was at a Full Moon beach party the night before at Nomade with a bonfire, a DJ & live drummers. Here, we couldn't even access the beach at all. At some point, I saw people standing on couches and even on the table. And I'm sure these people have money - either to stay here or for table service - so no one is going to tell them to get off. I felt like I was back in Miami or NYC. I tried making my money worth it but then it poured so that was my cue to go. I don't recommend this place unless your a techno-head or have money to blow, then knock yourself out. read more

If you're into deep house music for hours on end, overpriced food and drinks, and doin it for the gram... this is totally your scene. I, on the other hand, am not into any of those things. The first thing we did was go to the bathroom, which was really cool, and I thought it would set the stage for the rest of the night. We tried to order tacos, and when I tried to pay, I was informed that I first had to stand in a line to obtain a wristband that I would use to pay for things. Stood in line for approximately 30 minutes to get this wristband. You have to guess how much money you will use, because once it's on the wristband, you won't get it back, so if you put more money on the wristband than you use, you lose the leftover money... just say bye bye to it, and consider it a gift to the papaya playa... 3 small tacos cost 20 USD. They weren't great either. The music was boring. It was packed and took over 20 minutes to get the attention of a bartender to get a drink. I thought maybe it would be cool to go out t the beach, but they close it off, so you can't even do that. Maybe during the day it's different, but I actually hated it the night I went. read more

Day 1: 5 stars Our first day at the beach club was honestly a great experience. The minimum consumption was 1000 pesos per person but it was well worth it given the quality of food/drink and access to a nice lounging area. The service was great and the few hours we spent there flew by. Cocktails were a bit pricey (250 pesos each) but I don't mind overpaying when it means access to the lounge area and beach. Day 2: -3 stars After our experience the first day we wanted to return two days later. We were stopped at the front by security to open our bags and were told we would have to leave all of our water with him. As someone who drinks a lot of water this is ridiculous because on a hot day I could easily rack up $50 worth of water at their prices. Ridiculous way to gouge people as we had no problems at any other beach club the whole trip. Left promptly and found a nice place near Playa Paraíso instead -- in fact I'm writing this review from there drinking all the water I'd like! What a shame... read more

Huge waste of money. We paid $100 cover each at the door for the nightclub to see a not famous DJ. The $100 is supposed to be $50 for the ticket and the other $50 to spend on food/drink. Drinks cost $20+ on average so it really only covers about 2 drinks total. If you don't spend the entire $50 then you lose it, so we were forced to spend the remainder of our money on a $15 nasty, cold pizza slice and 3 small, dry and mediocre tacos. The other food options were not at all appealing. The DJ was alright and it's a cool venue but not worth the $100 cover. Will not be going back read more

Though we did not stay in house, we did spend a lengthy amount of time at the Papaya Playa beach club, which was so lovely it quickly became our favorite daytime into early evening spot in Tulum. During both of our visits, we were able to grab a bed on the sand without any struggle, staff were super friendly and explained their (very reasonable) minimum spends for non-hotel guests. Drinks were great - mezcal margarita variations and micheladas (swoon). Food was also delicious - Tuna ceviche, camaron aguachile, fantastic and well presented. A highlight was that there was SUCH good music consistently - loved that the DJ starts early and keeps a good energy flowing throughout the day. Being able to dive into the Caribbean with groovy deep house playing in the distance is a magical feeling (if you're into that kind of thing). Spent several hours enjoying the beach, drinking and eating heavily, and were surprised at how inexpensive our tab ended up being. When I daydream about Tulum it's PPP that I think of! read more

Imma make this review as real and honest as I can! My girlfriend and I attended "Papaya Playa Project" as a recommendation of a lot of our friends who attended years ago! It's cute beach club with nice food and great music. The ambience is cool with the colourful neon lights and did I mention the music is great?! What's NOT cute however are some of the staff! Rushing you to wrap up your bill so they can prioritize the bottle service. What's ALSO NOT CUTE is paying almost 3,000.00 pesos in food and drinks to be bullied back to the entrance to pay an ADDITIONAL 600 pesos each because their party starts at 9pm. Imagine that? A rum and coke is $15 for bar rail and the staff "Monica" to be exact (or at least her) seemed to be have trained to tell ppl theyre not permitted to order food or drinks at tables a whole 40 minutes before their party starts because they rather cater to ppl who spending 1,000 USD to come to Tulum and act like they do in LA, NYC and Miami as stated in the other review. Cute place with much potential however SUPER commercial and obnoxious. I came all the way from Montreal to document the party with DJ/Producer Lorie and left disappointed. Went there on a Saturday nigth while the facebook page of the bar was saying they had a DJ that didn't need no introduction. They charge 42$ (600 MXN) without any drinks included just to get in as a cover charge. Then a simple shooter is 15$ (200 MXN) and they have this weird way of paying by putting credit on a bracelet via a system that is nowhere near the bar (lol). Drinks are way too expensive for the alcool they put in it. Then the DJ just played the same simple and boring techno beat the whole nigth with no changes - no drops - no creshendo - the whole nigth. It was hard to leave. First, they have these beach beds under these really cute thatched roofs which provide plenty of shade if you want it. Second, there is no "charge" for these beds if you are not staying at the hotel - there is a 500 peso minimum for 2 people but with 2 snacks and 3 drinks you will easily hit that - and you should because their food is GOOD. Best guac I had on our trip and the drinks were DELICIOUS (and fairly strong). Try the wondermelon - you cannot go wrong w that - it's watermelon basil gin and DA BOMB. Overall, I would not miss a chance to come back here and relax on the beach watching the picturesque tulum waters roll onto the beach. I'll probably try to stay here next time we go! read more

When got out the taxi the gurds at the door stop us because we have a cooler with two beers left only. His attitud was awful as if we are sneaking drinks in like some poor teenagers. My husband felt insulted and wants to go else where to spend our money, but I calm him down and hand the cooler to the gurds. This is so stupid and why angry your customers, you can always kick people out if you actually caught then drinking drinks they sneaked in. Or ask them to leave their cooler at the front NICELY. To the jungle of Tulum? Many mosquitos there at night, I was getting eaten live, and we are trying to get pregnant so that's not smart of myself. The Vika virus! Some girls and i were sitting at down stair on an old banged up wooden table, i was waiting for husband to get us drinks and enjoy the view, a waiter comes amd says the table is reserved for the owner and his friends - bullshit, all serverbed table had reserved note, they had a round table up high with perfect view, some reasons they wanted an old bench seat at the dark corner, and we have to leave our sits for some assholes. So rude! Unprofessional, uncare for the customers! We had better, so we left disapointed, $25 each person to get in, money isn't the problem but the poor, rude services, and a lousy DJ makes it an unworthy experience. We went again last week, I want to film the view and sunset, and have too much to drink, the bartender was cool, they also have changed the menu, everything is a lot more pricier, and the food is just mediocre.
