The newlyweds, family, and friends on our last night in Tulum.
    Kevin C.

Brought a group of 22 people in three cars for a last meal together. No reservation, straight walk ins. Caught Erica and the staff by surprise. But they were quick to pull tables and chairs together and split the bill three ways without any hassle. I got to say, besides the friendly staff they have the best Octopus tacos you'll taste. The queso fundido was also a hit amongst our group. The drinks were prepared just right. The coolest thing about this place is that they offered us a traditional treat which were grilled crickets. Yes. That's not a typo. They sell grilled cricket tacos. I was curious to try so was happy that they brought a lil wooden table with grilled crickets, lime orange slices, and a shit of Mezcal. Traditionally, you eat the cricket, take the shot, suck the wedge. The taste? Honestly it tasted like seasoned crispy chicken skin. Pretty good. I might start grilling them at home instead of killing them . No but seriously, very chill ambience with friendly staff and good food. Having problems with my phone so will upload what pics I can once I'm able to.

Grasshoppers with Mezcal and local lime. Yum.

We walked to this little hidden gem from our hotel and not only were we greeted with some courtesy appetizers, we were also surprised with a chance to try some sautéed grasshoppers coupled with Mezcal and local fresh lime. Having never eaten a grasshopper I figured this was the time and place to do it and Wow, they were actually really good. Think garlic potato chip. The service was amazing, the 6 different tacos were spot on and the prices so cheap for the amount of food we got. We'll be back and of all the places you can eat in Tulum we loved supporting the smaller local businesses above the larger hotel venues for a legit Tulum experience.

We ve come to La Malinche about 3 times on our vacation. The Tacos are sooooooo good and the prices are great. My favorites were the chorizo tacos, Pulpo tacos, fish a la Talla and the shrimp a la Talla. We ll probably come back again tonight lol seriously can't get enough of these tacos.

    Chicken fajita burrito.

This place is so good. Casual, festive, authentic atmosphere and the best food we had all trip. The sopes and conchinita pibil tacos are to die for. I'd take this place over a fancy one every day of the week. The waiter was awesome too. Had a great night.

    Ceviche and bomb margaritas!!

OMG!! Some of the best guac, ceviche, tacos and queso I have EVER had! The margaritas were strong and amazing! The tacos were good and the guac and ceviche were so fresh and filling!! It was so affordable too! One of the best Mexican spots in my opinion over taboo, rosanegra or any other spot on that strip! It's a cute small mom and pop place. Come here for bomb food! Go to the other places for the fun!

Checked this place out because of the Yelp reviews and I gotta say the yelp fam didn't miss with La Malinche. Strong selection of seafood and meat tacos and their shrimp aguachile was citrusy just how I like it. The service was friendly and spot on with the recommendations. The place itself reminds me of a fiesta with the banderitas and all the fun colors. The cocktails were refreshing and perfect for the hot Tulum son. Definitely recommend.

La Malinche is a very quaint spot. I've tried a lot of ceviche af this mixto was flavorful and very fresh. The Pastor Taco was absolutely fuego!!! Lots of flavor to it for sure. The grilled octopus taco was tender and perfectly grilled. Finally the passion fruit mezcalita. You get the seeds age pulp of the passion fruit which I love. Is definitely a place to come back to, and the jams were sold too. Thanks for the fantastic service.

One of the best spots in Tulum! We went here our last night and the food was amazing! Appetizer: Definitely order the guacamole, it was fresh and you could tell the chips were homemade. We also got the melted cheese with steak which was to die for! Drinks: We tried the Michelada, pina colda, and margarita all of them were good, reasonably priced and the size of them were big! Tacos: All the tacos we had were amazing! I would recommend getting 4 and try all different kinds!! The chicken fajita, sundried beef, Al pastor shriml, and the vegan mushroom were the 4 I had! My favorites were the shrimp and mushroom tacos! They provide you with onions, sour cream, and a couple hot sauces to put on your tacos! Overall I would recommend this place to anyone going to Tulum. It was so cheap, delicious food, and a cute laid back atmosphere!

The chorizo tacos with cheese were my favorite along with the esquites! The server was very nice and the music was a vibe. A little pricey which is why I gave it 4 stars, but overall very good.

Amazing food and ambiance but the highlight for us was the waiter, Johnny. He was so friendly and kind to us. I would return just to visit with him again.

Overall enjoyed our lunch here today. The chips and guacamole with the free sides & sauces were my favorite part! The passion fruit margarita was just okay. The tacos were good, however without the sauces they were kind of bland. The burrito had more flavor than the tacos. The service was good and attentive.

We did make a reservation, although the space was surprisingly empty at 7pm. We do know we came as the season is winding down, but for how good this food is, this place should always be packed. Our waitress was delightful - attentive, helped to explain every dish and the dishes all came out quickly but nothing felt rushed. The vibe is very jungle chic with open air seating, slightly covered by large leaf structures. Lots of candles and mood lighting. The menu offered quite the diverse selection of food options with a focus on traditional but elevated Mexican flavors. We started with some signature cocktails - my husband the mustachio whiskey drink and I had the wildfire. Both were perfectly mixed with great flavors. I will note the wildfire was more tart than spiced and did come with a fun flame element (sadly no pic). Also of note, the passionfruit that is used in this drink is a local fruit that is far more tart than other passionfruit you may have experienced. If you like a tart refreshing drink, this is your pick. We shared many dishes - the first was the pork rind with street corn dip. WOW. The pork rind seasoning was absolutely delicious and the serving size of street corn was epic. So rich, so delicious. We also shared the fried avocado - truly, the local avocados are heaven sent and the pumpkin seed purée was perfectly developed and spiced. Next up, larger dishes included the corn ravioli - this was so rich, and swimming in delicious truffle flavor. The raviolis were huge and there were 6 of them. The foam and nest elements while very pretty were also equally delicious. Not something that I often say when it comes to foam on plates. Finally, we had the shrimp main - I cannot put into words how amazing this dish was. The sauce was spicy, garlicky, and clearly developed over many hours. You could taste the time put into this. The shrimp were so tender the heads and tails just fell off. It comes with a side of bread and you will want to soak up every drop of this sauce with the toasted bread. If you are looking for elevated local flavors that have been carefully and meticulously curated then you must have a meal at WILD.

The space was gorgeous... like rustic, jungle chic. It seemed a little out of place on the main strip (it looked very different than most of the other places), but that's what drew us in. They had a menu of inventive cocktails that featured local ingredients (guanabana, mango, coconut milk) and lots of different types of mezcal. The drinks were delicious and the music and atmosphere was awesome. It felt like a Brooklyn bar transplanted into Mexico (sorry if I sound like a snobby New Yorker :-)). There were only 2 other people in the bar, the bartender, Ulysses, and the owner (I think), Jonathan. They were 2 super friendly young guys. They gave us a brief history of Mezcal and told us all about the different local ingredients they used. I think this place only opened a few months ago. It seemed like business may be a bit slow, but we drove by late at night a few days later and it was pretty crowded. The crowd was all tourists, European expats, etc... no locals... I didn't even see any locals working there. I loved the bar, but I love supporting locals, so I feel a little odd giving such a colonized place 5 stars, so solid 4 stars from me. Out front of Good Burger, it was hard to tease out which menu was for what restaurant, but I guess it didn't matter because the second floor was the bar where the night cap was made and brought upstairs. Up on the rooftop, the setting was whimsical, naturey, romantic. It was great to sit on cushiony seats under dim lighting with lots of greens hanging above and on the walls. The street view below was, well, of the street. For a weekend night, it was desolate and for awhile, we had the whole roof to ourselves (minus the two servers with nothing to do). For my one drink, I selected a mojito swoon (ginger, lime). It was pretty much a very refreshing lemonade with only a slight hint of alcohol - but that's the theme in most cocktails I had in Tulum. Our poor waitress came by several times to check in on us out of boredom, which was nice, but also weird at the same time given it was clear the place was dead, so it seemed like she was coming to our table too often.
