It's a covered, open-air restaurant right on the beach with breezy seating and great ocean views. The food is consistently good to great, and the drinks are well made. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, each with its own menu. Highlights include excellent tableside guacamole with garlic oil, fresh ceviche, fruit and veggie smoothies, and plenty of kid-friendly options, even if they're not clearly labeled. We stumbled on this restaurant while searching for reasonable drink and food. It's a restaurant attached to a hotel with nice views of the beach. There is outdoor and indoor "that feels like outdoor" seating. Service was great. The food was delicious. I would say the shrimp and octopus tacos were the highlight. Very flavorful!! We started with a side of tortilla chips and three different salsas. We ordered infladitas and guacamole, and we had to get another side of chips to go with our guacamole. Came here for a dinner with some friends, did not stay at the hotel. Limited dinner menu. Guac was good but the tortilla it came with tasted like drywall. Burger was bland with no taste. Fries where soggy and soft. Chicken wings where stale tasting. Corn appetizer tasted like a 99c can of corn sitting in vinegar water. Barbacoa lacked any flavor and had just beef and tortilla. Just got back from spending our honeymoon here. It is THE DREAM. This is the most perfect Mexico experience you can imagine, kept immaculate by the nicest people. Get a room with a your own ground-floor plunge pool/hot tub and you'll be steps from the restaurant, daybeds, ocean, and spa all day. You can watch the sun rise from your bed and order carrot cake from your hot tub. It's like this tiny little village full of all good things - fresh watermelon juices, octopus and shrimp tacos, fresh pastries, margaritas, and a heavenly Ayurvedic massage from the talented Carolina and Maurely. You don't need to leave, even though we did occasionally to go into the city for Honorio tacos and shopped along the strip. They had a lot of dishes that you don't see on every menu, and they make it a point to highlight local food producers, like sausage from Valladolid and several kinds of local liquors and craft beers. Some of us had the tiny empanada-like appetizers - I had the privilege of tasting the tuna and the taco sudado. The latter was really mind-blowing. We had the guacamole served in the traditional stone bowl, and it was very good and a generous portion. I had the Tikin Xic style fish (grouper) that was really perfectly prepared. Really special! Others had the grilled octopus and the stone soup and everyone loved their food. The ambiance was calm and quiet with great, non-disco music. Thursday is taco night !!! Great! It's a fixed price per guest, all you can eat $950 pesos!!!! Not so great. I mean they were ok but nothing to go nuts over The mango margarita was good Service was meh. Now they were a bit challenged as they had a power failure the night we visited but that does not explain getting about half the orders wrong and not knowing who ordered what when it was brought to the table. The staff seemed in over their heads and very inexperienced Ambiance. This was the best part of the meal. Outdoor table and right next to the beach. Very nice. They had a band playing and if we were inside it would have hampered conversation, but outdoors it was great! Overall I would say pass. Just come here already! There was a reason why my group of friends and I decided to stay here the entire afternoon and evening instead of making our dinner reservation at RosaNegra. We had ordered a couple of pitchers of margaritas that came in a good amount of flavors: watermelon, mango, strawberry, and passionfruit. The mixed ceviche was so good we just kept the orders coming! The octopus and shrimp tacos were pretty tasty too, so don't sleep on them either. The best part about our time here though was our server, Cristian, who went above and beyond with the service to make our experience here the absolute best! He is a national treasure. Top notch!!! Everything about La Zebra Beach Club was amazing and over the moon awesome. Our server on both days of our visit was beyond accommodating and helpful. He truly went above and beyond to make our beach days special. The most posh family friendly beach club in Tulum, it's about $50US per person to enjoy the cabanas and beach access from La Zebra if you're not a guest. The menu is also posh and food is so fresh and delicious, so you'll easily surpass that amount with any meal plus drinks from the 'Mulberry Project' La Zebra's chic likkle beach bar w awesome music playing. Both family friendly and adult friendly, the cabanas are shaded, spacious, and comfy with towel rental available. The restroom (smelled SO good!) and outdoor shower are convenient and routinely cleaned, you'll likely bump into someone cleaning the restroom of sand and water on the floors. Hand sanitizer on deck everywhere! Good vibes only, this section of the beach was further down the strip but super chill and enjoyable with a nice amount of space between other beach guests to remain socially distant. The wooden playground, Jenga table, and swing were all also nice touches. read more

We stayed at La Zebra on a beautiful weekend in January 2021. With Covid in effect, the property overall is already socially distant friendly and mostly outdoors, so much less worry overall. The staff was also wearing masks across the resort. From the moment we arrived til our departure, the staff at La Zebra made our entire visit super enjoyable at every turn. I should note that between rooms, the ground is all sand. But the team had no issue insisting to help with bags and bringing them to our rooms. Our entire weekend the staff didn't bat an eye with almost any request we had. The rooms themselves are cozy, private, and very relaxing. I highly recommend sporting for an ocean view balcony for more privacy, as the majority of plunge pools are right in front of your room facing the ocean where families are many. (Looking for something intimate? Rooms feature dual showers! :-) ) Even when one of our guests needed to switch rooms mid-stay, it was very organized and super smooth. On the beach, lots of daybeds for guests and hammocks to relax in. Not to mention the Mulberry Project bar that can make you any drink your tastebuds desire and an amazing restaurant with solid tacos to boot. I'd definitely stay here again when visiting Tulum, or maybe try a sister hotel, too. read more

Had the privilege of staying here and we had a blast. They made it special for our honeymoon and the staff and everyone here was so welcoming. Our room #1 had the best view and it was steps from the ocean. If you are a sensitive or light sleeper, maybe don't stay here bc you'll be hearing the waves pretty loudly. It didn't bother us at all and in fact helped us sleep to the healing sound of the waves. Coming from Chicago, it was always a dream to be steps from the ocean. It was so dreamy and romantic. The service is amazing and they spoil you. We randomly received tea, chocolates, cookies, and tequila just because. I love the sustainability concept of tulum and everything is so aesthetically pleasing. We were also welcomed with welcome drinks and had an amazing breakfast and massage on the beach. Pricey but worth every penny. It is in a great location and you can also rent bikes. They also have complimentary parking for guests! We can't wait to go back!!! They have access to the beach, but to sit on the beach hairs there is an order minimum that isn't too much. Food: I ordered the shrimp nachos and shrimp tacos. They were amazingggggg! It was soo good. The only thing is if u order a smoothie, it comes more like a juice instead of a thick drink. Service: Everyone was super nice and helpful. Our waiter Adan was wonderful! I guess ...because the restaurant is located a little down south, it was not too busy when we came, although it was dinner time. We got a table close to the beach. Started off with drinks: Big Daddy - full bodied and just sweet enough Flora de Sandia - a nice kick, not too sweet, refreshing Anthony Quinn - cilantro is overpowering Beach Bliss Grabbed a snack (pastry with ham and cheese) to tide us over which was very rich. We ate at La Zebra twice while in Tulum. The first time it was just me and my husband and the meal was exceptional! Probably the best we had during our entire stay. It was a small menu and we started with some of the starter bites (which are actually only one bite so get one per person). I had the Gordita and he had barbacoa - both were fantastic. The service was great and quick. The second time we went for our friend's rehearsal dinner with about 30 ppl and the food was just ok. We were given the price of $60 per head for a family style meal and $30 per head for open bar. When the bill came, it was 3x the amount they told us and they refused to fix it. The manager Gustavo screamed at the bride over the phone telling her that he would call the police if we didn't pay this new price. I tried to help but he was irate and would not let down. Moral of the story- maybe don't host an event here but do go for dinner. Hold onto the menu until you get the check to double check the prices. Unfortunately this goes for most of the restaurants in Tulum. read more

Shoutout to our waiter German who was so sweet and attentive! This was my favorite breakfast in Tulum. The ambiance, beach view, the plates the food was serving in and the small clay pots that held the jam was so cute. Our favorite was the dulce de leche pancakes, I've never had those here in the states. But the eggs were also phenomenal and the bread was light and a perfect accompaniment to the jam that was provided. The drinks were to the mild sweet side for breakfast, but still unlike anything I've tasted in the states. I'm always skeptical of hotel breakfasts, but this was probably one of my top breakfast experiences while my stay in Cancun and Tulum. I prefer this place for the breakfast over the lunch menu though. Highly recommend to check out, and request for German, he was an awesome waiter. read more
