My partner and I have visited Culebra many times over the past years, we have stayed at many places…read moreon the island. However, once we stayed at Casita Tropical with Molly we have not stayed anywhere else. She has a number of efficiency apartments with shared cooking facilities and patios with private bathrooms. This is a great option on Culebra as it allows you to enjoy the cool breeze and gives you the option of doing your own cooking. There is a pool available and abundant coolers, floats, chairs etc available for the use of guests. Equally abundant is Molly's knowledge of the local beaches, restaurants and tours. She is always happy to share that knowledge upon request, or even invite you on her early morning snorkeling and turtle watching trips to Tamarindo beach. Her pricing is completely reasonable and the location is within walking distance of the airport. Most likely you will rent a golf cart, in that case she has abundant parking for guests. Casa Libre is on the eastern shore of PR very near the El Yunque rain forest, Luquillo beach and the ferry over to Vieques and Culebra! The rooms are really nice (my niece says I like fancy things so extrapolate from that) and have glorious air conditioning which can be a rare thing for B&Bs on the island. Rooms also have small fridges and wireless internet is also available. I love the large shower in the room we stayed in -- big enough for a shower for two! Jordan fell in love with the pool which was right outside our door. Nothing beats a great swim before breakfast. There are great views of Playa Naguabo and the fishing dock and you can see Monkey Island from here too. Jordan also loved Patti's french toast which she even requested for dinner one evening. This is a great place to use as your headquarters for exploring the island! Josue even gives tours of all the PR historical landmarks like Old San Juan, El Yunque, Fajardo's BioBay, Ponce and many more. His company is Borincano Tours and will be listed on the website soon. We didn't really know what to expect but are so glad we decided to stay at this lovely guesthouse. Josue and Dawn are exactly the kind of people you want as hosts- kind, and attentive, but totally laid back. They answered our questions, got our room ready quickly (we didn't have reservations) and then let us relax by the pool in privacy. They also have space inside their gated property to park a few cars and we were glad to have a spot for our rental. The room itself was basic, but clean and the bed was comfortable. The guesthouse overlooks a small scenic bay with a seawall. The beach is short 5-10-minute drive away. The people we encountered in this small fishing town were truly the nicest we met on our trip. If you're looking to relax this is a great spot, with several good places to eat within a few minutes walk away. We will definitely be back next time we go to PR, perhaps as a great jumping-off point to the nearby islands of Vieques or Culebra or to go hiking and visit the local rainforest, Thank you for such a pleasant stay!!

The cabin we rented also had a nice little outdoor seating area with a fire pit. That cabin was pretty small; just a double bed with a pull-out sofa which I slept on... except that it was quite uncomfortable so on my second night I opted to just sleep on the couch without it being pulled out. There is wifi in the lounge area but it didn't reach our cabin. Rental cars can't be brought onto Culebra at all, so the staff will reach out to you and pick you up at the ferry pier, then drop you off after you check out. We needed the dropoff ride at 6:30 AM and that was no problem for them. Nice staff, especially Carlos who was so very accommodating. We mostly puttered around the island during this stay, but it would be a very comfortable place to relax for an extended period.

The property really makes you feel like you're out in the jungle... away from civilization and yet still completely safe (a rarity on the island). Short drive to Fajardo, El Yunque, or the Luquillo kiosks. Breakfast is simple and serviceable, but the real draw here is the laid back atmosphere and beautiful grounds. The owner is quick to shake your hand and welcome you to his little slice of paradise. Highly recommended.

I visited back in 2012 or 2013 I believe. It was so amazing and comfortable. We regretted having rented a beach house in Arecibo after having the first night here. Around 6:00 AM on Friday morning, I contacted Surfing Turtle Inn, and the staff could not have been more kind, accommodating, and understanding. Not only did they allow us to check in early, but they gave us a phenomenal room that completely turned our trip around. I'll admit that after reading some reviews, I was slightly hesitant. However, once we arrived, all of those concerns disappeared. This stay was absolutely worth it and truly made the last part of our Puerto Rico vacation special. The location is perfect. It's steps from the beach, walkable to restaurants, shops, and everything you could need. There's even an amazing coffee shop right across the street. Parking was easy, the neighborhood felt safe, and everyone we encountered was incredibly friendly. Some reviews mention road noise, and while there are cars passing by, it honestly did not bother us at all. We could barely hear anything from our room. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and we slept like babies both nights. The inn even provided earplugs, though we never felt the need to use them. The room itself was spotless, cool and comfortable after long days in the Puerto Rican heat, and thoughtfully designed. The attention to detail in the décor was impressive. It truly felt like a boutique surf hotel with a laid-back coastal vibe. The aesthetic was beautiful without feeling overdone. The amenities were another highlight. We loved the rooftop views, and the complimentary beach chairs and beach towels were such a nice touch. There was also a coffee station, microwave, and everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Most importantly, this place gave us exactly what we needed after a stressful start to our trip: a relaxing, welcoming home base where we could unwind and enjoy Luquillo.
