My boyfriend gazing at the ocean at the beach across from Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn.
Lindsey S.

Outstanding!! The rooms were clean and spacious and had highly effective air conditioning, a godsend in the July Puerto Rican heat. Mind, the rooms are basic, but well decorated and include soap and shampoo. Perfect for those looking to spend more time out of their room than on it. La Pared, a beach with waves begging to be surfed or boogie-boarded is literally a stone's throw away, across the street and the hotel provides complimentary beach towels. Chairs and boogie boards are available for rent on the cheap. We spent a day on the beach and had a blast. Then when you just want to watch the waves you can hang out on the second story patio and bask in the sun. Within walking distance there are at least three fantastic restaurants, and the hotel provides breakfast every morning which saved us a considerable chunk of change. The hotel is also gated, which feels nice even though the area itself didn't feel particularly rough. It's surrounded by beach rentals on both sides and there is a condo just down the road. I can't say enough about how amazing the staff was, friendly and knowledgeable about what to do and when to do it. We were given a map and advice in the best way to get around, including how to avoid construction. Super helpful. 10/10 would stay again! Luquillo is perfectly situated away from the bustle of San Juan, but close enough for easy day trips, and super close to Fardajo which is where you can catch ferries and flights to some of the best beaches in the world!! Go for it! You won't be disappointed!

Friendly place right across from the beach in Luquillo great staff very friendly and offering up information of local areas to go they serve a great breakfast on the deck oh and being able to open the door with the sound of the waves crashing outside is great while the town may have a few issues, the people in this area are friendly while there is not a bar per se on the premises about a block away is a friendly little bar/grill with great food an drink We called it our lobby bar :)

Stayed here for 3 days while on this side of the island. The room was very clean and staff was very nice. They also offered information on things to do near by. The breakfast was so basic however if you pay $5 per person they would cook breakfast such as pancakes, eggs and bacon or sausage but I felt like that should have been included since it's a small hotel. So we paid for one day and found a couple other places for breakfast. As far as the room we have a queen bed (really the size of a full) with ocean view. The location is great right across the street from the hotel ...plus a lot of restaurants and bars in walking distance. We lucked out since there was a festival for the weekend right out side. They have their own parking lot with remote entry. The best part of the hotel is the location if you love the beach like I do. This hotel is good for a nIght or two but I probably wouldn't stay here for a week.

My sister and I stayed here for two nights and it was absolutely lovely, from the location to the staff. It is beach front and steps from Playa Pared. There is also a gated parking area for hotel guests. Complimentary breakfast was included and every day they would have a new hot dish along with continental. They had omelettes and coconut French toast stuffed with cream cheese as the hot dishes while we were there. There was a minor issue with our keys card not working but the staff was helpful and it wasn't really a problem. I would definitely recommend staying here!

So close to the beach!

Very nice place! The people were very friendly and the rooms are very clean. The location is great as it is right on the beach. There are plenty of food places and grocery stores very close by. The breakfast in the morning is good as well. Overall, this is a nice place and I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Very nice place to Stay in Puerto Rico. Near the rain forest and steps from the beach. The Inn gets its name from the view of the sunrise from your room! Not near very many restaurants or shopping so pack your food and drinks and have a picnic on the beach!

Nice place- Spartan and very clean. Food is good, beach view worth a million!

Awesome place- spartan but clean. Staff outstanding, food is simple , but good. Ask for the homemade hot sauce! Nice location- near the waves from room. Cons- some traffic noise at night- maybe not a great place to walk five mile beach at night, safe during the day.

Loved this quint little hotel! From the friendly staff who always greeted us by name, to the clean and spacious rooms that had such a breathtaking view, to the delicious complimentary coconut French toast this hotel made us feel like we were at a resort! Will definitely make this our stay when we return to this part of the island!

Had we needed to stay longer, the room would have had anything we needed. Hot water and awesome shower too. Great location for walking to dinner and breakfast. We had never been to Luquillo (or Puerto Rico), so we didn't know what to expect. We had been…read moreroad-tripping around the island for about 10 days and Luquillo was our final destination. At first glance, it didn't seem like much was going on in the area. We were a bit concerned. We were a few hours early before our scheduled arrival, but we decided to check out where the hotel was to get our bearings. While doing so, we ended up meeting Dylan the owner. Super nice, awesome guy. Originally from the mainland. He was kind enough to let us check in early because the room was available. This was unexpected and certainly welcomed! The room was GREAT. SUPER clean, SUPER modern. VERY nicely decorated. Lots of little touches to make it so welcoming: robes, beach towels, yoga mats, beach chairs. Dylan sure knows how to decorate. Good water pressure, nice hot water, beautiful tile work, comfy memory foam bed, great sheets and blankets. We stayed on the top floor. Directly outside was a community deck with lights, a couple picnic tables, and some hammock chairs. The ocean and beach is LITERALLY steps away. You can hear the waves. It is incredibly relaxing. We spent time on the beach, which was very quiet. It was just us, some surfers, and a little flock of pelicans that provided HOURS of entertainment. A few minutes walk in one direction (along the beach) is a laid back restaurant called Boardriders. They served up really good fish tacos (mahi) and churrasco sandwiches. You sit and have your meal right along the beach. It's super chill and awesome. About 500 feet away from the Surfing Turtle is a little breakfast and lunch walk-up place. Super cheap prices and great breakfast sandwiches. There's also a nice restaurant directly across the street. El Yunque is only about a 15 minute drive away (book reservations ahead of time bc of COVID!!!!). Big line of 50+ kioskos were also about 10 minutes drive away. Across the road (about 5 min drive) there is a KFC, McDonalds, Wendy's, Walgreens, and a grocery store called Amigo (not a Walmart, as Maps suggests). After some hesitation because of the few reviews of the Surfing Turtle, this stay ended up being our favorite out of a 10 day trip. The location right on the beach is perfect. The owner is so great. The rooms were so clean and modern. Has a hostel feel, not a chain all-inclusive. Mix of all ages staying there, mostly on the younger side, but we are in our 40s and didn't feel like we were the "old people" haha. Highly recommend if you are looking for a modern, chill place in Luquillo with a great, quiet beach right behind it. We definitely would stay here again.

The people here are so accommodating; they have 3 restaurants on the property and they are all equally good. from formal to casual you can't go wrong eating at any of them. i'm a marriott member and had some points that i used for one night and im happy i took advantage of it. unfortunately they are converting the property to a 4 seasons and it will be far more expensive to stay here. The st. regis operates like a luxury hotel should. i would give it 10 stars if i could. i used the spa facilities and the massages we got were first notch. and jesselyn was a great nature guide that took us around the property. we are sad to be leaving.

My young kids were delighted with this. There is a boathouse area with free kayaking, standup paddle boarding and inflatable playground. This boathouse also offers more high-tech water sports equipment for rent. For families There are adult bikes and children's bikes on the resort that are complementary. There are golf carts that take you from one area to another as everything is pretty spread out. For example, from the main gate to the hotel is a little less than a mile. Only two free breakfast are included with Marriott status. So if you are traveling with kids, you have to pay $22 plus tip for their breakfast every morning. They have a few sand toys to share out on the beach. The large pool area does have Shallow parts for children. For adults The beach here is gorgeous though setback many yards from the hotel. The pool does not have an adult only area that I know of. There is a nice but small hot tub. You have access to all of the spa amenities every day as a guest here. There is a small gym next to the spa and a larger gym called the wellness center which is about Half a mile from the main area. Food issues The main issue here as many other of viewers have stated is the lack of decent food selection. Sea grapes is decent but only open until 5 PM. Paro gets terrible reviews and is excessively overpriced Mediterranean food. However, an Uber from the hotel to Rio Grande is not expensive around $10 and they are good restaurants, but you must do your own research. I recommend Los kioskos de luquillo Which have many food options and it is basically a beach party scene better for adult adults than kids. Service and butler service overall were spotty. We were given incorrect information multiple times. Don't forget to take a ton of cash to tip-wish they would include this in the final bill. Loved the ocean view, comfy beds, and spacious bathroom. Overall a nice stay and would consider coming back if the food options improved a bit!

This is simply our experience, and I'm not interested in debating or defending how we felt. To start with the positives: before booking, I read many reviews and was excited about supporting what appeared to be a small business run by a husband and wife. The property itself is absolutely beautiful , truly breathtaking scenery. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and surprisingly cool despite there being no air conditioning. The cooling system on the beds was amazing. We also did the hike on the property, which was beautiful and definitely one of the highlights of our stay. The wife was incredibly pleasant, welcoming, and knowledgeable about hospitality. She made us feel comfortable from the beginning. Unfortunately, several interactions with the husband left us feeling uncomfortable throughout our stay. Each morning, coffee and tea were offered to guests. One morning, since we planned to hike, we politely declined coffee multiple times. Despite saying no several times, the offer continued in a way that felt oddly tense, as though our declining offended him. During conversation, he openly mentioned that his wife often tells him he comes across as rude. He also praised her hospitality skills, and honestly, I completely agreed with him on that point. What really unsettled me happened when we were signing waivers for the hike. He handed me the waiver with a pen attached. After I passed the paperwork to my husband, my husband reached for the pen, and instead of handing it to him directly, the pen was tossed toward him. Whether intentional or not, the interaction immediately rubbed me the wrong way and changed the energy for me completely. For context, we are a Black couple, and while I cannot say what anyone's intentions were, some of the interactions throughout our stay felt uncomfortable enough that it became hard not to notice. Especially in the way my husband was treated at times. Another example: he offered to send horseback riding information to me. Since I didn't have my phone nearby, I asked twice for the information to be sent to my husband instead. Despite that, the information was still sent to me. The final issue involved the laundry area. We were washing a small load of clothes and some towels during the allowed hours. A few minutes into drying, he opened the dryer himself, removed my personal clothing including bras and underwear -- and left them sitting on top of the washer. He later sent a text saying the dryer was overloaded and making noise, although the load was not packed tightly and was smaller than the load left behind by the previous guests. What bothered me most was not the concern about the machine, but the fact that my personal undergarments were handled instead of simply asking us to adjust the load ourselves. None of these incidents individually caused a confrontation because we chose to remain respectful and calm throughout our stay. However, taken together, they left a stain on what otherwise could have been an excellent experience. Afterward, I revisited some of the lower rated reviews and noticed that several other guests also mentioned discomfort with the husband's demeanor and communication style. I also noticed responses to criticism often seemed defensive. Again, this review is not written to argue with the owners or invite debate from strangers online. This was our experience, and no one gets to tell us how we should feel about the interactions we had during our stay.

Upon arrival, our room was facing a wall. To see the ocean we had to go on the terrace and crane our necks to the left hanging over the bannister. NOT an ocean view room. They really need to call these rooms partial ocean view. Then there would be no issue. I immediately went back to the front desk and asked for a different room. It seems there was not ONE other available room in the entire hotel, but they did promise to move us the next day. We could not unpack. Made me crazy and uncomfortable. The next day we were promised a room between 11-2. And by 2pm we'd heard nothing so we went to meet the front desk manager at 2pm. She assured us the room was being prepared. It was!!! We finally had a beautiful king room facing the ocean and not over the kiddie pool. Krysia was wonderful and everything she said came to fruition. Can't thank her enough for her support. There were definite differences between the two supposed ocean view king rooms. The first room obviously faced a wall not the ocean. But it also lacked amenities that were present in the 2nd room such as really cool lights on the side of the bed that light up when you pass by. Great for the evening when going to the bathroom! There was a small (not real) plant in the bathroom. There were more towels present. There was a love seat sized couch not a chair. The sliding glass doors to the terrace were larger. It's possible the ceilings were higher too. Small measures but noticeable. The Tiki Hut near the beach and pool is great and we had lunch there everyday. We saw people enjoying the cabanas and the individual service they receive. The beach area is my spot. Always chairs and umbrellas available with staff to set you up. We have been to this hotel at least 6 times over the past years and have found the restaurants good and the service friendly. Housekeeping staff is accommodating too. Review just went from 4 stars to 3. Upon checking out they tried to charge us extra taxes. We pre paid the entire amount at time of reservation which included room and taxes and resort Fees. Our wedding was in December, and it's now almost February--still no response from the venue or the owner. The issue? We paid extra for a higher-tier bar package, only to find that our bar signage was hidden, and the bartender had no idea how to make any of the drinks. Classic cocktails like Old Fashioneds and Negronis were made poorly (when they were made at all), and in the end, most guests resorted to drinking only wine, champagne, or beer--completely negating the premium package we paid for. We made menus for the drinks and they magically disappeared. To make matters worse, we were previously assured via email that the bartender was experienced, only to later find out that they were hired the day before the event. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. We reached out multiple times to resolve this fairly, including requesting a partial refund for a service we didn't receive. We were met with silence. Someone on Instagram keeps telling us that "someone will reach out," yet here we are, still waiting. If you're considering this venue, be warned: they have no problem taking your money, but when an issue arises, they disappear. We expected better, and at the very least, a response. Mind you, the location is spectacular but the fact that they hired someone without experience to work a wedding is shady and unfair to the guests and couple who paid out of pocket to make this an experience. It was an experience but not one that we smile about when it comes to talking about the bar saturation . 90% of guests are all industry people. Thanks for not responding. I tried.
