We had a terrible experience at this hotel despite their 5-star reputation! The service, in particular, was quite mediocre. Room service was always late, I never saw a door man at the front, nobody offered to assist me with the suitcases when I checked-in, and the butler did not report until late morning of the second day of our stay. Additionally, the overall cleanliness of the grounds left much to be desired. We encountered dirty glasses sitting outside the main entrance, pungent cigarette smell on the hallway, and water leaks on the hallway.
On multiple occasions, we faced communication issues with the reception. Calls were abruptly ended, and on one occasion, we had to make three calls to request a set of plates and silverware. After waiting for an hour, I had to call again and eventually we received plastic takeout containers and plastic silverware. On a different night, we were surprised to find dirty wine glasses in our room
One of my friends experienced issues with her room, including lack of hot water (her shower was lukewarm at best) and she had malfunctioning curtains that had to be fixed. What's more, the incident at the caviar bar further marred our experience. The server refused to sell us a champagne by the bottle, which we later found out she had provided to the table next to us, and we had to wait 45-minutes to order the food.
The pinnacle of our discontent occurred on the morning of the fourth day when I discovered a maxi-pad taped to the wall of my suite. Despite reporting this incident to the manager, the response was indifferent, and the compensation offered was inadequate. We were compelled to involve our travel agent to address the matter appropriately and eventually did get a decent compensation.
We had to pack our bags and switch rooms. However, our move to the new room did not alleviate our concerns. Mold in the sink and a hallway reeking of cigarettes further compounded our dissatisfaction. While we appreciated the change, and providing hot water for my friend, the overall experience left us disheartened. read more
