With the spring and summer approaching, there are a few better choices for indoor or outdoor dining. The owner and waitstaff are attentive and make you feel appreciated from the moment you get there. The choices are numerous and after eating here more than 25 times, I can truly say that I have not had a bad meal. There is an expanded outdoor dining area on the water and an upstairs event room where we had our daughters wedding rehearsal dinner. The desserts are delicious. My initial review of this place is about 4 years old, so it's about time to update. What I previously wrote still stands, I'll just add some additional info. Does anyone else understand why there are so few places that offer outdoor dining on Long Island? This has puzzled me for quite some time. Please chime in if you can provide an answer. This place is on the water, offers a number of tables on their patio, and offers a $16.95 lunch. The $17 is a steal just based on the atmosphere. However the food works. Food is above average and for $17 you sit on the water, get a choice of soup or salad, about 16-20 lunch items, choice of cheesecake, Tiramisu or ice cream, and coffee or tea. How do you beat that? Not sure you can. Quick word on the service, it's always been spot on. The owner always recognizes us when we come in, and the servers are always attentive. Give this place a shot, you'll like it. Damn, just finished this review and then I saw the one star posted earlier this month. First off, can you trust someone that says "yeah your sitting outside" and "your on a dead end"? My 6 year old niece knows it's "you're". And I've been here countless times, never smelled any boat fuel. I won't get into her other comments because it's not worth it. I should have read the reviews before going. It was just ok. Very loud place if you are inside. I had a problem with part of my appetizer (octopus and calamari) only one piece of the octopus was edible but good. I sent it back but they never replaced it and charged me for the plate. They charge Manhattan prices for the cocktails. My husbands order came incorrectly and instead of replacing it, they brought sauce to band aid the mistake and charged us extra. For the astronomical bill amount, I think everything should have been out of this world delicious and treated better. I dont think I will return. Sorry. read more

I don't know why it has two $$ signs in its description but this restaurant is very expensive for what it offers. The food is very bland and tasteless. The portions are not family style, they are individual portions. The ambience is nonexistent. Just went there for the first time for an annivesary dinner. It's adequate. Food and service was good. It's clean. There are plastic barriers between tables. But nothing that had a "Wow" factor that would make me say to someone "You have to try this place". If I lived locally, sure I would patronize this place. But definitely not worth the drive from Queens for the sole purpose of eating here. read more

The food was excellent...as long as you don't mind waiting forever to get it. And as long as you come well-hydrated because they don't refill your waters, even when asked. And as long as you keep clear of (what appeared to be) the owner, who didn't appear to be a fan of facemasks. What could have been a really nice meal on their back patio was instead a pretty awful experience because of such poor service. They took 20min to bring us menus, 15 more minutes to take orders, and at one point - 30+ minutes and three requests to get waters refilled. Then, we had to ask three times for our check. After a half hour of waiting, we just went to the front and insisted on getting our bill. The food was excellent, but for that price - you'd expect a restaurant to have decent service. If you don't have enough waiters, then don't seat so many guests. Or if you have an emergency, apologize for the delays and refill your customers' water! Unfortunately, this just appeared to be a restaurant that's managed with its customers in-mind. After not eating out for 15 months, my wife and I chose this place because it is close to home, and there is good ambiance by the water. The ambiance is the best part since the service was unsatisfactory, and the food was downright terrible. This is not the first time I have been here, but it's the first time the food and service was this bad. We were seated promptly, and we were accomodated when we decided it was too cold and windy to sit outside. We were served beverages right away, but it took forever to even get a menu. When we were finished with our entree, it took a long while before I could get anyone's attention for our check. The busboy eventually had to ask us if we wanted dessert or a check, and the manager had to clear our table. No idea where our waiter was. There was a party seated outside, so maybe a little leeway is warranted. Where leeway is not warranted is how bad the food was when it arrived. The appetizers were unimaginative and overpriced, but the worst part was my entree of pasta primavera. The pasta was not al dente at all, and there were maybe 3 vegetable varieties in the entire dish. There was no sauce; the pasta and veggies (the vegetables were mushier than the pasta) was simply drowning in oil. The dish was again, unimaginative (it seemed like the cook threw in whatever veggies he/she had laying around) and tasteless. I wonder if they even seasoned the vegetables with at least a little salt and pepper. Even the bread sucked. I could have gotten better Italian food at a pizza parlor for half the price. Furthermore, I could have cooked a better pasta primavera in my own kitchen. Very disappointing experience. read more

I would have loved to have given this restaurant at least one more star but, sadly I couldn't because of the two hour wait at our table to be served our dinner. We sat outside on a very nice night with another couple. Lovely setting. Great water coverage fair bread basket. Never offered another basket. Orders were given to our waiter promptly. Our salads came out about 20 minutes later. Acceptable. No one approached our table to explain the ridiculous wait for our food to be served. At the two hour mark, I went inside to look for the manager. I was told he was outside the restaurant in front ( probably hiding from the unhappy dinner guests. I asked for broccoli and when dinner was finally served, the broccoli looked very similar to string beans... which they were. No explanation for the wait or No broccoli. Never a " sorry for the wait" no explanation whatsoever. The veal Marsala was very good as well as the chicken franchise. The salmon and sole were also good. We were so hungry we finished the meal in 10 minutes. Perfect... wait 2 hours for a meal that lasted 10 minutes. We very politely asked why the delay? but received no answer. Could they have comped the two Tartufos? That didn't happen. We were offered a complimentary liqueur but we declined. Bad night? Or standard fare? I'll never find out because the chance of waiting two hours to be served dinner is a non starter. PS... in NO way we're we rude, nasty, testy, etc. ( just to clarify) Had no valet parking tonight, either. Just making mention. This is a one and done dining experience. read more

WOW! I am pleased to share my favorite restaurant. GREAT FOOD! GREAT HOSTS (Tom and Mila). Pull up to the valet and the enjoyment begins. Must Try DIshes Artichoke Hearts. Baised Beef (a usual special). Grilled octopus and calamari. You cannot make a mistake in your dinner choice. Waterfront dining. I often come by boat! Live entertainment TOO. Lynn Portos is a Carole King impersonator, but does Billy Joel, Frank Sinatra and all your favorites. Lynn is better than Amazon Alexa because she has a quicker response time. Check this out when you make a reservation (strongly suggested). Having a party- Villa D. also has a party room as well. Ask for Tom and Mila and they will make your event spectacular! The drink order was incorrect and the order for muscles was also incorrect As the sauce was to be marinara and came out as differently The waiter was never around And hard to reach . My party of 6 went to Villa D'Aqua Saturday nite (6/17) to celebrate my friends 60th birthday. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. I made a reservation over a month ago for 700pm on 6/17 for a party of 6 with a round table on the outside deck. We have celebrated many special occasions here and were looking forward to a fun night. It could not have been further from the truth. We walk in the restaurant at 7pm and the lobby was bedlam. People were standing all over the place. There was no one to give our name to and say we have a reservation. People were pouring in and cutting the line bc it was so disorganized. A man with a white beard came out and just started taking people randomly to seat them. Reservations meant nothing. We finally got picked out of the crowd at 730 and taken to a rectangular table outside in the corner. I told him my reservation was for a round table. He said he had none!! And left!! We sat down and my husbands chair was wobbly and broken. We told the waiter and he laughed and said they needed to get new chairs and walked away. My husband sat on a broken chair all nite. It took 45 minutes to get a drink and another 45 minutes to get our meal. I ordered a second drink but it never came. Guess what it was on the bill!! The service was by far non-existent. We were never checked on to see if we needed anything and everything took so long. There were maybe 10 tables outside so it wasnt extremely busy. The waiter was an older guy who seemed like he could care less. As far as the food goes, saying it was subpar is an understatement. My friend asked if you had gluten free pasta - the waiter chuckled and said no. My pasta primavera was lukewarm at best. My friends husband had the pork chops - he said the meat was very tough. My other friends husband had the veal chop - said it was like shoe leather. The other two meals were salmon with dijon sauce - nothing to write home about! Plus the portion sizes were small but the prices were large!! I told waitress ab my friends birthday. They bring out a slice of chocolate cake with a candle and sing - and they charged us for the dessert!! Could have been on the house. Also, didnt get the customary after dinner cordial. Our check was over $450!!! We didnt get appetizers or salads; just drinks and our meals. Price is exorbitant for the very poor service and subpar food. Like i said we have gone here for special occasions in the past but we are done with this place! Which is a shame bc the outdoor deck is nice in nice weather. After waiting in the hallway for over 20 minutes without a hostess taking our name or attempting to seat us, we FINALLY got a hold of the infamous Tommy who couldn't care less about the 20 something people aimlessly gathered in the waiting area for a seat. Tommy's response to us trying to put our name on a wait list was, "No reservation? Good for you." Then he walked away and chatted with his "friends". Against our better judgment, we decided to give it one more chance of redemption. We got a hold of the "hostess" who FINALLY and reluctantly made an appearance. Well, she couldn't be more rude and unhelpful and said she had no idea how long a table wait would be. When we urged her to look into this, she came back 10 minutes later and said maybe a half hour (again, very rude). At that point, we said forget it and walked out. The waiter passing by rolled his eyes at the hostess and seemed miserable in general. The valet parking attendant wasn't surprised when we returned for our vehicle in disgust nearly 50 minutes after we arrived. No one likes to be ignored when they are trying to dine at an establishment. At least pretend to care and put our name on a list. Each one of us shared an experience of contemplating if we should return our meal to the kitchen, would something better ever emerge? Tasteless, salty steak, greasy fish and soggy vegetables plagued our entire dinning experience. The tables are nicely set but it is very LOUD combining the echo of guests chatter and the faint sound of music. This was my first time eating at Villa D'Aqua. I was at dinner with my husband, parents, aunt, uncle and cousin. We all had drinks appetizers and entrees. The food was very good and so were the drinks (a little stingy). My biggest reason this review is 3 stars and not 4 would be the service. Our server never asked how any of our food was and had us wait a very long time between ordering our drinks and taking our order for dinner. We sat at the table for over 20 minutes after having our plates cleared. We would have had coffee and dessert but after the wait we did not want to spend any more time here. If the place had better service I would definitely return but with the abundance of wonderful restaurants in the area I do not think I will be back. read more

My wife and I had dinner at Villa D'Aqua on Monday, July 3. We looked forward to having dinner on Villa D'Aqua's outdoor dock seating area. We were promptly seated near the rear of the dock. We sat at the table without menus, table setting, or water for 15 minutes. We began hearing the tables around us talk about how they'd been sitting for a lengthy period of time without even meeting their waiter. We decided to call an audible and roll the dice on indoor seating in hopes of better service. We, once again, were promptly seated inside the restaurant. The restaurant was less than half full on this Monday evening. We, again, sat without a menu or water for about 5-7 minutes before meeting our waiter, who asked for our order before we'd seen a menu, heard specials, or placed a drink order. I, however, do not think this is a wait staff issue. The waiters and other service members seemed very overwhelmed despite the restaurant not being at maximum capacity. If anything, the restaurant seems really understaffed. On the night we dined, it seemed that one waiter was responsible for ALL the outdoor diners and one waiter was responsible for ALL the indoor diners. The result was incredibly slow service and a lot of discombobulation. The food was fine. I had chicken francese and my wife had the short rib ragu (which she thought was very good). Overall, the below-average service really took away from our dining experience. Unfortunately, the restaurant doesn't seem equipped to handle the large dining crowds that the summer months will bring for their waterfront views. read more
