We love Frenchy's restaurant & were SUPER excited to try Frenchy's sister restaurant, Villa Capri. The grounds are well maintained & it's a beautiful place to watch the sunset or the boats go by. You can dine al fresco in various locations throughout out the garden. There's lots of hard scape with several places to sit. There is a dock but it looks closed. We did try to come by boat earlier. 1t was a bit challenging finding the front door. We went to 4 doors & never thru the front door which is on the the far left of the far left building. We started with "large blue crab claws" . There were plenty of claws & they were small. We also had the bruschetta. I was expecting the same yummy bruschetta & Ceasar salad we got at Frenchy's. (Thinking they share some of the same recipes). ....I'm going to say Frenchy's is best for authentic, tasty, melt in your mouth, darn good Italian. And Villa Capri has more charm & ambiance. The food was good but Frenchy's is much tastier. We each got an entrée, one Shrimp Capri, large shrimp cooked perfect w/ a leek & mushroom sauce. Another was Chicken Romano w/ baby artichokes. But they both tasted like the same sauce. We both commented on missing the garlic. It seemed they didn't have any garlic in any of the dishes. We finished w/ the chocolate mouse cake. They were out of Tiramisu as well as gelato. The cake was moist & really rich, definitely very chocolaty, a side of vanilla ice cream would make this dessert divine. The service was attentive & we liked our waiter. I think he did a great job. The hostess was a sweetheart & very personable. Just wish Frenchy's chef would tutor the Villa Capri chefs. read more

My wife and I were married at this restaurant a year ago, so we went back last Saturday night to reminisce. The place hasn't changed, maybe even gone downhill a bit. The food served to our wedding party was excellent one year ago, horrible last Saturday. We had the shrimp champagne last year, but opted for the "special" red snapper being offered last Saturday night. We received a bland lump of fish dropped onto a bed of angel hair pasta covered with a watery tomato sauce. Not even sure how the snapper was prepared - boiled?, grilled?, baked? - All I know is that it was horrible! We sent it back and made the mistake of ordering the "Seafood Saute" rather than the shrimp champagne. There was plenty of shrimp, crab, and scallops in our entree, but it was served with boiled potatoes instead of pasta. So, we ordered a side of fettuccine alfredo, took the seafood out of the thin wine sauce, and mixed it all together for our own creation. On the positive side, our waitress did all she could to make the bad experience better - so kudos to her. Sorry I couldn't remember her name. We also enjoyed the salad bar and half carafe of wine for a decent price. It was nice to reminisce, but we will not be back for our second anniversary (or ever again, for that matter). read more

Not a large selection (about 7 dishes) and salad bar (was not fresh, especially tomato and lettuce ) I enjoyed the creamy chicken dish, it was true to Italian cuisine in my opinion but 3 friends of mine in group had stomachaches after lunch. We always order from Frenchies menu because a) we can and b) that's our favorite. NY strip Gorgonzola and chicken crepes. If it wasn't for the weird dude who ate loudly and complained loudly about the windows and lost his phone and tried to find it in our bag of leftovers and possibly trashed the men's room, the only story would be about the sailboat racing on a beautiful evening and the food. I made reservations 3 weeks prior to our arrival as we wanted to throw a nice anniversary dinner, however when we arrived to the restaurant we did not have a pleasant experience. The original table we were seated at were outside, with no table cloths on the table. When we asked for table cloths the owner's wife was very defensive and rude, and didn't want to accommodate with us until I mentioned her husband's name who came out and took care of us the rest of the night. The wait for the food took forever, we were at the restaurant for about 3.5 hours because it just took that long to get everything out to us and the check. We were a party of 10 so we expected the wait to be a bit long, but not as long as we had. 2 stars for the food, and for the owner and wait staff for being kind to us while they were serving us. Overall, it's a shame because this place really is beautiful next to the water with a nice place for photos. All the food was freshly made, and tasted great, but not good enough for us to go back. read more

We hd a wonderful experience with at Villa Capri. We threw a surprise baby shower for my sister on 8/18/2018 and it was successful and amazing with the contribution of everyone at Villa Capri. Our host Raffi was very helpful in planning, the restaurant owner was kind and welcoming, and serving staff were very accommodating. If you are looking for great authentic Italian food with a unique atmosphere you should try this place. Our server Alex was super friendly with perfect suggestions. We also met Dawn and David working at the bar. The entire staff was a fun group. We even met the owner. She's been in America for 23 years and still has the strongest Italian accent. My husband and I are new to the area. A friend and long time resident in Clear Lake, reccommended Villa Capri. We went early, it was a warm and breezy afternoon. We ordered the fried Calamari (which was good but a little over cooked), a bottle of Prosseco and sat and enjoyed the view. We went on to order the Filet Mignon, which was nice (the sauce was just a touch salty). The service was decent, the view was lovely, the patio was relaxing. Overall, a really nice experience. We struggled to find a nice place where we could have our class reunion that was reasonably priced and not just a square box ballroom that could be anywhere. Villa Capri is just beautiful day or night. There was plenty of room for all 101 of us AND the band. The buffet was Incredible. They served our meal to us and the helpings were HUGE. No one went hungry. The food was absolutely delicious! FLAVOR!!! And their desserts were amazing. They took such good care of us that when a few folks asked about gluten-free pasta, they happily provided it for them. The staff was constantly cleaning up but you hardly ever saw them. ....until you needed something and they there on the spot. I dropped my fork and before I could pick it up off the floor, they were handing me a new set of silverware. We just had the best time. The atmosphere was relaxing, there was tons of room, the food was delicious and plentyful, the bar was potent, the service was exceptional and the price was reasonable. This is a great little hidden gem on Nasa Parkway. We were there for the boat races which are held right near the back patio of this restaurant. They have a pretty nice setup back there, including an outdoor bar pouring very full glasses of wine. After we spent some time enjoying the races, we headed inside and were able to quickly grab a table with a view of the water. We split the calamari and blue crab claws. The crab claws were some of the best I've had (and I order this often). I also sampled the house special, Shrimp Capri style, which was so amazing I wanted to lick the sauce of the plate. There seems to be a lot of mixed reviews, so here's my experience. My date and I went for a Sunday dinner. First, the entrance is on the far left side of the building. When we were seated, we waited 10 minutes before we received any service (and we had to tell them because they forgot about us). The view, though, was lovely. They have a garden in the back next to the water. The salad bar was good, the bruschetta with gorgonzola cheese was a delicious appetizer (my date thought it was heavy on oil). The food overall I thought was excellent, though I did wonder if they had cooked my chicken entree separate, and then added the sauce. This was my first experience, and I am willing to try it again because the food seemed worth it. Hopefully I won't experience some of the other lower reviews... Worth the try! read more

We had my mom's birthday here last night and can I just say how awesome everyone at Villa Capri was to me and all of the guests? 1) Amy the event coordinator was great! She kept me up to date with all the little details and made sure everything I requested was ready and set up when I arrived to start decorating. 2) David our waiter for the evening was AMAZING!! He kept everything organized and everyone's glasses full :-) He made sure everyone was waited on promptly and he even helped coordinate the surprise part of the party that way the birthday girl was 100% surprised when she walked in! 3) The owners were so sweet! They even helped serve the food for our party! My nephew is a picky eater so they actually made him a different dish than what was on the prepared menu and let me tell you he LOVED it! He ate everything off of his plate and even went to find the owner to thank him for the wonderful steak he prepared. 4) I never knew that Villa Capri had 'Casa Mia' the private dining room that you can reserve for private parties. It was a perfect size for the party and we had access to the deck outside where we had a great view of the water and the sunset. What a wonderful party we had! My mom had the best time she's ever had and I have to thank the staff and Villa Capri for making sure her party went smoothly. read more

Well the views are pretty, and that's the nicest thing I can say about this restaurant. I really wanted to like it, but the food is mediocre and the process are high. Service was also bad. We had a double date with some friends - we ordered at the same time, but our friends got their food way before we did. When we did, my steak was way overcooked. And when I finally got my dish served, everyone else's was done eating. Even still my food was not great. My husband's food was very salty. My mom and I love this place. It's very beautiful and serene. Lovely, lush gardens frame a beautiful lake view. Sitting in the garden is just such a delightful treat in spring. The ravioli with brandy sauce was a magnificent dish. It came with the salad bar which had nice, fresh offerings of cantaloupe, a mixed greens salad that was crisp and vibrant, as well as other vegetable and starch additions and toppings. I had to go gluten free (bummer) but the chef here made my meal special so that it fit my needs! That was beyond the normal call and was very sweet to meet my needs. so this place. i really want to like this place. i live practically across the street. i just can't. the food is mediocre at best. the quality is just not there--reminiscent of frenchie's, but not the same. the salad bar is depressing and of questionable food safety. prices are high. the restaurant layout is weird and even though i've been here before, i can never find the front door. you have to walk past the kitchen, which always has it's doors open and the radio blasting. Last week we accidentally walked in on a private party in their side building. whoops. guess some labels on the doors would have been useful. the view is excellent, though, which is why i salvage 2 stars. My wife and I tried this place for lunch after hearing people indicate it was pretty good. We were met fairly quickly at the podium (which you have to walk a significant distance through the front of the restaurant to get to) and seated at the window overlooking Clear Lake. Good. We were given the menu and things looked a bit expensive but we pushed forward ordering some tortellini and lasagna. Then to the salad bar. Just as a previous poster indicated, it's really all out of the box ingredients - nothing special at all. There was also no olive oil for the bread (but plenty of vinegar and pepper). A while after ordering, another small group came in and were being seated. One of them asked for the lunch menu. The waiter went back to get a separate menu for them. WHAT? If I go for lunch, I expect to be shown or offered the lunch menu. I SHOULD NOT have to ask. Skipping to the end, on the way out we looked at the menu and saw some good sandwich choices not available on the regular menu. We also noticed the pasta dishes seemed to be the same, only a dollar cheaper. When the food arrived I was underwhelmed. The lasagna was swimming in cheese grease (and seemed to be small noodle strips rather than lasagna) and the tortellini had more soggy asparagus than tortellini. It tasted average. There was no freshly made taste to it and to me it had a very out-of-the-can taste. In the end, even though we picked item(s) [I know the lasagna was, not sure about the tortellini] that were also on the lunch menu, we were charged the dinner price. Comparing our dish sizing to other patrons actually ordering from the hidden lunch menu, they were the same. Except we were charged an extra dollar each. UNACCEPTABLE. I just left rather than complain - the lunch hour was already running late. Previous reviews do seem to indicate this place can be hit or miss. Maybe this just happened to be a miss. In any case, I will not be returning nor will I recommend this to anyone else. Frenchie's or even Pomodoro's is a better choice. I understand there are slow days around the holidays, but that is no excuse for poor food quality or dishonest pricing. read more

I was here a couple weeks ago for a friend's graduation from UH Clearlake. We came for lunch buffet. I was really pleased with the selection, especially the salad bar! All the food was fresh and just wonderful. For the price it was an exceptional deal. The desserts and the wonderful view of the lake were to die for. With the task of deciding what the family would do for the wife's birthday I settled on Villa Capri. She loves seafood and they have a great view... surefire winner! When we arrived we managed to get the last table on the patio. If you haven't been here before then let me share with you an item about the view. If your on the patio you won't get much of it except in the right side. Since we got the last table we were way left and surrounded by foliage. How ever the restaurant itself sits up much higher, so if you eat inside you are guaranteed the wonderful view. Once I had a chance to get through the menu I was a bit let down. But since I don't really care for much seafood and this wasn't for me I took the easy way out and had the fried shrimp. The wife ordered the Shrimp Piccata, and the kids had a fired shrimp, and ravioli. They have a salad bar available to everyone. I have to admit it was a great salad bar. When the food arrived the boy and I found the fried shrimp pretty good,and my daughter liked her ravioli. According to the wife the Shrimp Piccata was astounding! So all in all Great view, really good food... then came the check! Lunch for four was $84 ( includes 2 beers and a glass of wine). But honestly I brought the family here for an experience and we certainly had that. So if your best gal, or guy, needs a special seaside/fine dining experience this could just be the place your looking for. If that doesn't work the boardwalk is just down the road and they have a roller coaster. read more
