Best Bites takes you to Seabrook! Today, while visiting my grandson, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Athena's Corner Greek Restaurant in Seabrook, and it was absolutely delicious! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm Mediterranean charm. The restaurant is beautiful, inviting, and filled with Greek-inspired décor. You can choose to dine inside or relax on their lovely outdoor patio. Our waitress, Rachel, was exceptional--friendly, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. She made us feel right at home! We kicked off our meal with a couple of appetizers, and they were every bit as impressive as they were delicious. The hummus was smooth, creamy, and served with warm, fluffy pita bread. We also enjoyed the falafels--perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, and even better dipped in their spicy feta spread! For my entrée, I chose the Lunch Special featuring a savory spinach pie, served with a fresh Greek salad and a cup of their famous Avgolemono (Greek lemon soup) . It was light, comforting, and packed with flavor. My grandson ordered the Chickpea Salad , a dish he loved so much on a previous visit that he couldn't resist ordering it again. That's always a good sign! My husband selected the Stuffed Shrimp Special . The plate was absolutely beautiful--jumbo baked shrimp stuffed with a savory crab dressing, served over a bed of mushroom orzo. It tasted every bit as incredible as it looked! The service is very helpful and attentive. Everyone was very friendly. The atmosphere is such a cute restaurant, great for a very intimate dinner with a loved one. The restaurant does have a tv for any sports to be played during your dinner. The restaurant is very clean and decor is neatly placed throughout the restaurant. Prices were very reasonable. Athena combo was delicious, the homemade sauce was so amazing we asked for more. The Bougatza was so delicious and worth the wait for it to cook. Why 5 stars? Because this meal really hit the spot. --- --- --- I've had Athena's bookmarked for a while now, as my parents live in Friendswood, and thought this would be a great place to try when visiting them. The stars finally aligned and I was able to meet them here recently. My mom wanted to order some dolomades to start off, and I'm not really a big fan, so I just figured those would be all her. But she offered to let me try one, and I can easily say that these were the best dolomades I've ever had. She agreed. I have no idea what they do to make these not taste so "sharp" like they usually do, but these were really unbelievable. For my appetizer, and I went with a beef/lamb gyro and it was everything you want in a gyro. Soft pita bread, non-gamey meat and everything in between. The greek salad that came with it was pretty underwhelming, but I ordered a side of greek fries too, and those were what I was hoping they'd be. We finished off by ordering a few desserts to share. I went with the strawberry cheesecake as the one I was mostly focused on, and loved it. This is definitely not a frozen cheesecake - they make them in-house and it's obvious when you take your first bite. I was in town for some training and chose to go to Athena's Corner as I was staying nearby. It was some of the best food of any genre that I have had in quite a while. Everything was so fresh and flavorful, and the service was top-notch with frequent (but not intrusive) check-ins. I ordered Athena's Corner off of Door Dash. I ordered the lemon chicken rice soup for $7.95. I got such a small amount that it didn't even cover the bottom of my bowl. That was supposed to be my whole meal. I also ordered a side of olives with feta and parsley sprinkles. The picture showed olives and 2 slabs of feta. I only got olives---no feta and no parsley. I called the restaurant and the manager got on the phone telling the Door Dash isn't what they really serve. She said olives are expensive, how could I also give you feta? As for the soup, she said the portion was 8 oz which is their normal serving. 8 oz is a half a cup. Who eats only half a cup of soup---for $7.95? On Door Dash is looked like an entire bowl of soup---no mention of 8 oz. She then began to blame Door Dash. I finally just said I had enough excuses and that she definitely lost a local customer. My husband and I ate here for the first time today and it was fantastic. The waitresses were friendly and prompt. Our waitress in particular gave us good food recommendations. I got the Athena's Combo plate - all three meats were very good but we were both pleasantly surprised by how fantastic the pork bites were. I want to start by saying the server with the long brown hair from Louisiana was genuinely very sweet and attentive. She was professional and kind throughout the experience, and honestly seemed to be doing her best in a very difficult environment. That said, the overall experience at Athena's Corner was extremely disappointing, especially given the price point. When I asked for my steak to be cooked rare, I was told it could not be prepared that way and was given explanations involving the health department and "certain regulations." The way it was communicated felt dismissive and unnecessary, especially in a steak-focused order where temperature preference is normally standard. It came across as rigid and unaccommodating rather than customer-focused. My steak arrived overcooked and closer to well done, despite my request. For a $32 plate, that alone was unacceptable. The presentation also made the meal feel careless. Everything was served in a greasy aluminum foil container, which did not reflect the pricing or expectations of a sit-down restaurant. The steak was placed directly alongside feta fries and heavily cooked onions, which overpowered the dish and made the fries soggy and unappealing. Overall, the experience felt poorly executed from both a preparation and presentation standpoint. While the server provided genuinely kind service, the management style and execution of the food left a lot to be desired, and I would not expect to return based on this visit If there was an option for no stars, I would put one read more

This is a little hidden gem!! EVERYTHING we had was superbly delicious! We stopped in here while visiting the Kemah/Seabrook area because we have been in search for an authentic Greek gyro for a long time. This was spot on, EXACTLY what we were looking for. We started off with grape leaves and the octopus app. Grapes leaves were phenomenal, seasoned perfectly and the octopus was cooked just right, tender and seasoned well too. I had the Greek lemon potatoes with my gyro, yum!! We were so stuffed but of course HAD to try dessert, so we enjoyed some ouzo and waited (the well worth it 15mins) for the bougatza (custard pastry) it was so amazing! We really enjoyed our meal and dessert, even took some rice pudding to go . We got a chance to speak with the owner, a lovely woman originally from our home town. This review is for the breakfast at Athena's Corner. The winning dish was the spanakopita mixed with eggs, served with a side of potatoes. We also had an omelet with gyro meat, which probably should have had a few tomatoes mixed-in to add some juiciness. The former dish was excellent, the latter quite good. The service was friendly, although I got the sense that our poor waitress could have used another hour or two of sleep. She perked-up by the time we were finishing our meal. When you leave Athena's you leave with your belly full and a smile on your face knowing you had a great authentic meal! We tried the lamb chops and the slow cooked lamb AND moussaka because I just couldn't leave without trying it. Ms. Brandy let us know it was a big portion and she was right! This place does Greek the way Greek should be done. Not only was the food perfect, but the ambiance and service was spot on. I enjoyed everything I tasted, but be warned the Athena's Veggie Chips (crispy zucchini & eggplant chips served with tzatsiki) are addictive. Try not to eat them all before your food comes, you WILL want room for your meal. My daughter and I shared them along with the 3 Dip Sampler (Tzatsiki, Hummus and Tirokafteri served with pita). The Tzatski tasted so good, it was hard to not eat it all (I love the stuff). This was a lot of food, and it was just the appetizer, so we had plenty to take home with us. I had the Gyro Plate (Slices of lamb & beef with Greek salad, served with pita bread) and she had the special of the day, unfortunately I forgot the name of her dish. Nevertheless, my daughter said the chicken was amazing and some of the best she had ever had. We both loved it so much, we went back for more the next day, because she claimed her sister needed to try it too. The staff is amazing and the food was so delicious. The restaurant is set up really nice so I will be willing to take a date there. The only thing I didn't like was I ordered the orange sponge cake with vanilla ice cream. It said soft and fluffy. It was anything but soft and fluffy. It was soggy and stale. Restaurant was only 70% filled so shouldn't have been that neglected. Maybe need to add to kitchen staff and remind waitstaff to be more aware/active. But srsly try Athena's Corner. Love this place!! Great ambiance, delicious food! Service is very friendly - we just came in the other day at 8:50pm, 10 mins before closing and graciously invited us in. They have plenty of selection on their drink menu and feature some nice specials during the week. My favorite plate is the gyro platter. Also highly recommend their lemon wedge potato's. This place is likely the best Mediterranean restaurant in the greater Clear Lake area, at least in my experience. My wife and I have been here a couple of times. The atmosphere leans a bit informally upscale -- this is not a buffet place. Staff are friendly and helpful. We've had the lamb and beef pitas and plates, all of which were quite good. There's much more on the menu to try, and we'll get around to that someday. They have more dessert options here than usually the case, and they make them here.
