My first visit to Vilairs was on August 3rd, 2019. It's a tidy and small location. When I arrived I was greeted by Vilair, the owner. He is a very nice man, straight forward, honest and is a really hard worker. I came to him to get my wedding dress altered. I went to another place around my job and they wanted to charge me $300 to cut the bottom front portion of the dress which was way too expensive to ME. Vilair wasted no time and asked me to change into my dress. He has two small fitting rooms in the store, nothing special but it gets the job done. I had my daughter help me get into the dress and it was quite difficult to move around in that small space. Once I had it on, he had me stand in front of the big mirror and hemmed the dress with safety pins. He pinned it to the length of my choice and ASKED me if I wanted any other alterations. I was really happy because the other place didnt even ask me if I wanted any additional changes. Vilair also took the waist in one inch on each side to make it more fitted. Overall, I'm so happy with the alterations. I honestly couldn't of found a better seamstress. Vilair only charged me $180 and he had to remove the lace bottom portion of my dress, cut the tulle and perfectly place the lace back on to make it look seamless to the train. I would of never expected to find such a good place so close to home. He made me feel confident in his work and by September 3rd my dress was ready for me to pick up. The only thing I didnt like is that as I walked in the store with my dress on, all the pieces of string, hair, paper, etc that was on the floor (its covered with a rug) got stuck to my dress. So my train has pieces of stuff on it that I'm constantly taking off. My wedding dress was such a big deal to me especially since I spent SO much money on it. I'll be back to Vilairs for other alterations. Once my wedding has passed, I'll post photos of the dress and how Vilair fixed it. read more

This old school tradesman is a magician with a needle and thread, he's considered a cutter . The prices are reasonable and affordable plus he's knows what he's doing I had a leather jacket that needed a zipper he said give him some time to find a metal one that came with the jacket.no the cheap plastic ones that are available today. He took his time to make me happy, these tradesmen are a dying breed like shoe repair. They earned their reputation for their service and craft. read more

Just a few weeks before my wedding, I was in desperate need to find a tailor to alter my dress. The dress had arrived to me a little late where I knew it would be short notice for most tailors. I asked around various locations where not only they informed me they were unable to do it, but the price was excessive. I finally came across Vilair's store and was hoping my dress may be altered. We went to Vilair's to tailor the dress for my stepdaughter's Sweet 16, which needed to be taken in on the sides. Given the items on display in the store, I think working with dresses is the man's specialty and it shows. The dress was chiffon with embroidered gems on the top and considering the amount of work needed (take it in, alter it, and refit the gems on the dress) Vilair did an amazing job! I was not expecting perfection considering the small amount of time we gave him to work with, but I was pleasantly surprised. The dress fit my stepdaughter perfectly and she loved it. I am glad we found a reliable tailor in the Bronx and we will definitely go back again. The store is small and very unassuming but the quality of work is fantastic. read more

The tailor himself, as a person, is a wonderful guy, an angel, truly a great soul. He actually sewed a pant of mine that ripped for free. However, he ruined a suit jacket and a very expensive shirt with his haste alterations. The sleeve legnths on the jacket are insanely high and the cuffs on my shirt look like actual cuffs of fabric attached to the shirt (there's no sense of seamlesslness).Ironically, his haste alterations took an eternity. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Ruined a Thomas Pink shirt my wife bought me for Christmas. Told me that the shortening of the sleeves would be completely unnoticeable, well ... I noticed, just horrible frayed stitching every where. There literally isn't a single decent tailor, or dry cleaner for that matter, left in the whole bronx. I have to take all my clothes to midtown manhattan to get cleaned or altered. read more

I was a little scare when I took my mom dress to be fix at Vilair's Boutique, thinking that probably was going to be difficult to do it because of the type of material and the delicate of the dress. I can't believe I've lived in the area for four years and haven't came here before, this place is a hidden gem. The guy has been in business for over 40 years so you know he's good. I came here the other day because I needed an alteration for my dress pants. Vilair measured me and was able to finish the alteration by the afternoon, and it cost me much less than most lesser quality tailors in Manhattan.
