Our group came here to eat before going to Del Mar opening day. We took the train up and didn't know they didn't open till noon. It was nice that they let us in just to sit prior to opening. They have a variety of items on the menu from burgers to tacos. I enjoyed my Caesar and was happy they had anchovies as an add on. The halibut was a good portion but thought it was a bit dry and a bit bland. I liked their beer variety and had a rice lager called cheep skate which was really good. Fun atmosphere to hang out as they have a big indoor,outdoor patio with a great view of the lagoon
Driving home from Oceanside we decided to stop for a drink and now this spot has become a go to for us since our first time. I think we have already been back 4 times in the last month which is crazy for us! Big thing is we love that they are 100% dog friendly inside and outside and they are always so excited to see our pup come in and bringing him some fresh water. My husband is a big beer drinker so he has loved getting try to a few different beers and I personally think for a brewery they have a great wine list to pick from. The food menu is always so enticing even when I am not super hungry I still end up ordering something to snack on. We have loved coming here and thank you to the staff for always being super friendly it really is just another reason that we keep coming back!
5/10 - Not good, not bad.... Except on weekends, they closed the parking lot for valet only and the only other lot is paid parking which if the Del Mar fairgrounds has an event charges $4 per hour. The valet and service staff are pretty nice and attentive. Ive eaten here before but this time I only got a flight of beer, which was pretty decent. We also got a few appetizers to share and they were ok, sorta unoriginal and mid- American food and slightly overpriced. One thing to note is that this place isn't a typical San Diego brewery with open seating, it's more of a restaurant. Because of this, and also the parking situation I would rather go to somewhere else that have better beers and better food. The only thing this place has going for is the view, which is really nice.
Came here for the first time for lunch. What an epic location for this place. It's waterfront right on the San Dieguito River. Has a rad view and the the open architecture is perfect for sunny days. Service was solid, absolutely no complaints. Our server was attentive but gave us space and didn't rush us at all. They have a great drink selection (obviously). We both got the Mexican Lager which was light and smooth. Followed that up with the ceviche. We mixed in the house hot sauce which in my opinion elevated it. I got the crispy shrimp tacos. They were good. Kind of overloaded with cabbage but all the flavors were there so no complaints. My cuz got the Thai coconut chicken sando which looked . He said it was good too. All in all. Epic location, great food, great atmosphere. I'll definitely be back. FYI, the only downside was parking is limited and pretty much only option is paid self parking or valet - worth it though
Great place! Parking can be a little tight but there's a city pay lot next door that costs as much as the $6 valet if you're there for any length of time. So keep that in mind. Recently went for lunch. Started with a Mexican lager and shrimp ceviche (be sure to ask for the house hot sauce, it's fire)... The beer was crisp and refreshing... The ceviche was fresh! Plenty of chips and avocado came with it. For the entree, my cousin got the fish tacos with a side salad... He said it was great. I had the coconut curry chicken sandwich. I will highly recommend this. Big piece of chicken fried in the curry batter. Very good. It came with a side salad and a lemon vinaigrette... Great service, amazing views of the lagoon in Del Mar... I've been several times and will be back soon.
Nice brewery and restaurant in Del Mar that opens out to the lagoon. It was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon, so make a reservation online instead of just walking in. The farmers market salad was super fresh and definitely big enough to share between 2 people. Very nice wait staff. Food and drinks came out within 10 minutes of ordering. $127 for 3 meals and a couple drinks + parking via valet or paid lot nearby.
If you're looking for a brewery with serious coastal vibes, Viewpoint Brewing in Del Mar is a must-visit. 100% not worth it. The food was mediocre. They gave us the wrong drink, when I questioned the drink, they were certain it was the right one even though it was a completely different color. It's also frustrating having to wait for valet to be there when your car is 10 feet away.
Cool spot, great views, and friendly staff. The product itself wasn't my favorite, though. Decent place to try at least once. 1. Parking is paid. There's a dirt lot or valet. Valet is $6 before tip. There are a few free spots near the hiking trail if you're lucky. 2. Myself and many other guests experienced dirty glasses (lipstick marks). Server said they've been troubleshooting improving it so I hope they figure it out soon. 3. Servers all work together to split sections. Ironically, it made it kinda difficult to track things though, since 3 different people might give you 1 update each, but I'd rather have a 1 progressive update on missing items (compared to 3 different people checking from square 1). 4. They were super sweet and apologetic for the delays. Very busy since it was Easter so gotta factor that in. Comped one of our food items and offered dessert. 3 to 4 stars out of 5.
We stopped by Viewpoint Brewing Co. without a reservation and were seated right away at one of their communal tables. The shared seating and beautiful views made for the perfect setting. there's nothing better than enjoying a fun evening with friends while meeting new ones along the way. The service was excellent: friendly, attentive, and quick. We enjoyed a glass of wine from their well-curated selection and were especially happy to find a Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley. The flatbread was warm and soft, and the mac and cheese was rich and wonderfully creamy. Overall, a great spot for good food, good drinks, and great company. Parking is a pain--$20 bucks at the lot. Or $6 valet.
Not locals to the area but had some time to kill and decided to stop in. The brewery has ample seating indoors and outdoors and its nice to sit outdoors if the weather is fair. There's a nice view of the lagoon and trail if you choose to sit outdoors. It is about a 10min walk to the bridge. Its dog friendly! I noticed several water bowls throughout the property. Parking was tight. It was a week day, middle of the day so I can't imagine how parking is on the weekends. Just as we were leaving, we saw signs for valet parking at $6, perhaps this goes into effect at 4pm and onwards ? The food is underwhelming. I ordered the grilled fish tacos. There simply is not enough fish in the taco. I requested more avocado crema and put both the orange house made salsa and additional avocado cream to my tacos. The ceviche is not prepared traditionally and had an ailoi. There was also not much seafood in the dish. The chips that came with the ceviche didn't taste fresh. They were not warm, no signs of grease and were actually kinda hard. Lastly, my friend ordered a caesar salad. It was odd to see kale in the salad and according to him, the whole salad tasted off. He felt it was prepared with a different type of dressing. I didn't try it. Long story short, come for the brews and the view, the food, not so much. Service was great.
We had a weekday late lunch, the restaurant was quiet and we had our choice of tables. After changing tables to avoid sitting under a speaker we sat outside with a view of the fairgrounds and San Dieguito Lagoon.The staff was friendly and we were very pleased with fish tacos both broiled and fried. The salad and fries sides were generous. Parking in front of the restaurant is limited and shared with car repair but there is a pay lot on the corner. I have a feeling evenings are more raucous. There is a club that provides mini lockers with a plaque for personal beer mugs. The city of DelMar needs to trim some plants partially blocking the lagoon view.
Viewpoint Brewing is a unique restaurant/brewery in an old warehouse sitting on an inlet with views of said inlet and the Del Mar Fairgrounds. It isn't much to behold upon pulling in but, once inside, it's far more spacious than it appears from the outside and has a pretty nice view. They offer up about 30 beers in a nice variety of styles. Yours truly had the Belgian Dubbel and it was quite nice. The food is mostly new American; burgers, sandwiches, some tacos mixed in...charcuterie...you get the idea. I had the fried Thai chicken sandwich and it was aromatic, homy and delicious (and came with a ton of fries). Our server couldn't have been friendlier and service was prompt. $6 valet-only parking out front. Would 100% go back.

Food was average but beer was good! Would come back here for the views and a drink. The restaurant itself is nicely kept. Plenty of seating and fresh air. The view is great! They do offer valet which we found to be cheaper than the nearby parking lots. Very pet and family friendly. They have casual bar seating overlooking the lagoon. Service was good. They kept coming around to help clear up dirty plates/check in. Food also came out fairly quickly. Although the food wasn't bad, we all agreed that it lacked some flavor and tasted pretty avg. We were a bit disappointed when we heard they no longer offered the banana pudding as a few of us had seen multiple photos on their yelp and it looked yummy. This place was really cool. At first I thought my GPS sent me to the wrong place, because it looked like a warehouse from the parking area. but realized quickly that once you walk through the doors, it opens up to a great restaurant with lagoon views. We ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich and a Korean steak sandwich. They were both wonderful!! The aioli sauce was spicy and awesome!! I loved my sandwich. Hubby got the Koran steak sandwich and it was delicious too. I also had the tangerine mimosa. Yumm!! The vibe there was great! Lots of people just enjoying the beautiful Sunday. The food was great, the place was awesome. But I only give it a 4 star because our waitress couldn't remember to bring me ketchup...and I asked her 3 times. She came by several times to ask if we needed anything, and 3 times I asked for ketchup. Each time she acted like it was the first time I requested ketchup, but still never got it. Needless to say, I left a bunch of French fries uneaten because I didn't get ketchup. They were great French fries too. So I was sad. And a little irritated!! read more

Super nice atmosphere. You get a nice view while drinking and eating away. I got the flight and many of others got their own beer. Lots of food options. The staffs were great and helpful. It was abummer that I forgot whatcl his name was. But, will definitely stop by whenever we're in sd! read more
Came here last Sunday with my best friend and her dog and we had such a fun afternoon! The place is huge and super dog friendly. Our server who was also the bartender was great. Very friendly and attentive. Basically anywhere you sit, you will have a nice view. We ordered the mushroom flatbread and the Caesar-ish salad with grilled chicken. Both were good. I would get the salad again but probably try something other than the mushroom flatbread. The parking can get a little tight but they have double spots. Make sure you leave your phone number if you park behind someone so they can leave if they need to. read more

My experience here was so underwhelming that I'm surprised their Yelp rating is this high. Some positives from visiting here: we were seated quickly and this is a dog friendly restaurant. Those were the only positives. Other parts of this experience were negative. To start, our waitress was very short with us. We felt rushed to order. Once we decided, we ordered the classic breakfast plate ($14) and the backyard burger ($20!). My friend's whole breakfast plate, except for her eggs, arrived cold. When we asked for extra condiments like butter, jam, and ketchup, the waitress looked extremely annoyed. I ordered my burger to be cooked medium well, but it was extra well done. The menu description said the burger would come with special sauce. The sauce was not special- hardly there actually, and it did not help that my burger was extremely dry. Frankly, you can get a much better burger at in-n-out and save some money. read more

Good beer with a wide selection Food was really good. We got the mussels which were delicious. And the beef pot pie which was the bomb We sat at the bar to avoid the long wait. Chairs were very uncomfortable and too many for the space Staff was friendly. The service was a bit slow for ordering, but the food came out super quick. it's a great location with beautiful view. We were here on a cold day, but the outdoor patio was still really nice. I had the fried chicken m on top of French toast with a sausage gravy ... AMAZING! The sauce has a bit of spice to it and the chicken was super juicy. My family was happy with their orders as well; The steak and eggs came with a nice cut of meat, tender and thick. We were expecting a thin steak but it was very nice. The lettuce wraps were good as well; but nothing spectacular. I think there are better things on the menu to order than the lettuce wraps. Dropped by for a very late lunch/early dinner at 3:30pm on a Friday. Wasn't too to busy, but definitely seemed like a popular place! It's semi-outdoors and can get a little chilly so bring a light jacket! We tried a couple beers and was a fan of the imperial stout and the "POG" flavored ale. For food: The korean steak sandwich was good, but fell a little on the drier side and I wish it had more sauce. The fries were solid and fresh. The beef pot pie was definitely the star here though. It looked amazing when it came out and tasted amazing as well. The puff pastry was flaky and light and cooked through. The beef inside was tender and flavorful. If we came back we would 110% order the beef pot pie again. Service was solid and food came out fast. The only thing knocking this down to a 4 was probably that I didn't love love all their food. We visited this place for lunch after checking out an expo in the morning. It's a quick stroll and easily walkable from there. I would love this place in the summer months. The walls are all open so you get the San Diego fresh air. The food was good - what I would expect from a pub/bar. I got the grilled fish tacos and they were good. My partner got the adobada fries and they were good. Only flaw is the toppings seemed to be clumped together so they weren't that well incorporated. Beer was good. Combucha was good. I haven't been here for way too long and finally was able to stop in. Parking is always a little tricky but worth it. They were offering only valet parking for $5. We were seated at the picnic tables around the right corner, since my niece was with us. They switched up the menu a little since last time I was in. We ordered the adobada fries and ceviche to start, which were really good. For our mains, we ordered Mac and cheese, quesabirria tacos, mushroom burger, spaghetti squash and flatiron steak with fries. The quesabirria tacos left a little more to be desired but everything else was delicious like the truffle fries! Now that the weather has cooled off, it's a great place to stop in before going to the races or to watch a game. read more

I attended a company dinner here and ordered a Thai chicken sandwich with a side of Caesar salad. I also ordered the kombucha - blueberry flavored. The chicken sandwich turned out to be humongous so it was a rather messy sandwich to eat. I had plenty left over to bring home and saved room to eat a little of their basque cheesecake . The food here is absolutely phenomenal. The people here are the best people you will ever meet. And the people here are all extremely polite. The people here treat you like family. The food is excellent, the beer is great, and you have an amazing time with family and friends. A super chill environment and you will have a great time. Come here for a great time!!!! read more

Really just loved the view and set up of the place. Tables inside with table top fire pits. The vibe was easy and fun very San Diego. Food was sub par, the buns were dry and a choking hazard. However, I don't want this to feel like a full negative review. I want it to be seen there are positives, however it was not the food or the food poisoning that happened hours after having the chicken sandwich. The Mac & cheese was everything you'd hope especially if you add the meat, but the rest of the food fell flat! The slaw on the chicken sandwich lacked flavor and the side salad was seriously criminal to be served. read more

My family comes to the Del Mar area a couple of times a year for soccer tournaments and Viewpoint Brewing was recommended to me awhile back from both Trish S and from all of the amazing reviews already on Yelp... I finally had the opportunity to check it out last Sunday evening after a soccer game at the nearby Surf Park and it did not disappoint. I made a reservation in advance for a party of eight and our party ended up being a bit larger but they were luckily able to accommodate us. (We did have several kids that squeezed in). In addition to some tasty brew, our party enjoyed ceviche, fish tacos, avocado tacos, burgers, and mac & cheese. Everyone was pleased with their orders and we all enjoyed the environment as well. I had a bunny blonde beer and meatballs for app and a delicious spicy halibut over potatoes. Delicious! Good vibes, great food awesome staff what more do you want in a brewery? Dogs that's what! This place is so dog friendly they even have dog bags, not to put the leftovers in... but to clean up after them lol. There is a trail right outside near the patio with a view of Delmar beautiful sunsets can be seen nightly. The food and beer is was delicious the people, staff as well were some of the friendliest around it made this place perfect for our large party we had a great time eating here and can't wait for next time. read more
If you're making your way down to San Diego or just in the Del Mar area, you need to stop by Viewpoint Brewing! Located right on the river and across from the Del Mar Fairgrounds it's the perfect spot for great food and a beer! I definitely recommend the fish tacos and the crispy Spanish octopus. Both are perfect for a warm Southern California day! On top of that there is an awesome variety of in house brewed beers to go along with your meal or just to grab a refreshing beer with friends. The staff was very friendly and on my last visit, I was even able to meet the head brewer and he gave some awesome recommendations on beers! Viewpoint Brewing is 5 stars all the way! read more

This place was crowded and busy last evening so my son and I found 2 seats at the bar. We have dined here before and have always returned for its outside view facing the West; it's welcoming and at times high energy ambiance , and its house-brewed beer and its food created to a different delicious level. Last evening was no exception, yet totally up leveled for us. We were craving for beer and burgers. Lucky us because we had the best servers giving us exceptional service! Kyle and Jay made our dining experience memorable!! Oh, and yes. Our cravings were met. Our thirsts were cheerfully quenched with the blond and cider beers , and the backyard burger (we shared this) overwhelmingly satiated our burger cravings. read more

Came here with friends for a pre-wedding celebration and had the best time. First of all, that damn view! It doesn't seem like much from the front (I actually thought we were at the wrong place) but once you step inside, it's a whole different world. You walk in to see a large indoor/outdoor open space. It has a rustic brewery feel but not overly done - and love the string lights over the tables closer to the water. There's an amazing water view and a walking trail which is the highlight of this spot. There are different kinds of tables to accommodate various sized groups. Try to go early to secure a fire pit table along the water's edge. Friends enjoyed the different beers but I stuck to a cabernet which was so smooth I had to take a pic of the label (to buy on my own hopefully). All the appetizers were delicious and I mean all. My favorite was the mushroom flatbread. Also the service was so great and accommodating. We were a big group and just kept pouring in over the course of a few hours. They definitely tried their best to make sure we were as together as possible. If you're in the area, check this place out and make sure to take a few IG worthy pics! read more

5 stars We found Viewpoint Brewery by chance driving through Del Mar and had a fantastic late lunch! We shared the Adobo Mac and Cheese--so delicious, with perfectly tender pork. Our beer flight didn't disappoint either: Hop-Cano Hazy IPA - Fruity with pineapple and peach, a little dry with a balanced bitterness. Penitent Man IPA - Their signature West Coast IPA, hoppy and piney with a smooth finish. Bari's Passion Wheat Ale - Light and refreshing, with real passion fruit juice. Hop to the Future - Juicy with white grape and citrus flavors, great complexity. Time Traveler IPA - Piney and resinous, a throwback to classic 90s IPAs. Great brews, cozy atmosphere, and beautiful views--we even took home a Viewpoint hat! Definitely a must-stop if you're passing through Del Mar. Popped in on a Wednesday for lunch. Found parking on site. But I can see how it can be problematic when it's busy but there's an open lot across the street. The place was pretty empty and getting a seat with a nice view was no problem. It is dog friendly throughout, which is tops because we had our pooch with us. I was debating what to order and wanted to be good so I settled on the wedge salad and added grilled chicken. Hubs ordered the adobada pulled pork lettuce wraps and a flight of beer. When my salad came, I was like "wow!" It looked awesome. Definitely more elevated than I expected. Housemade buttermilk dressing with fresh chopped herbs. Large slabs of smoky bacon. Chopped eggs. Flavorful pieces of grilled chicken. The salad was $16, the chicken was an additional $8. Not inexpensive at $24 but it was a generous portion and delicious. I'd definitely order it again. Hubs said he enjoyed his lettuce wraps. His only critique was that he wished there were more pickled onions. Service was great! Everyone at the brewery was super friendly. We were warmly greeted when we arrived, our server was nice and knowledgeable, and they said goodbye when we left. A nice way to enjoy a sunny afternoon! read more

This is not a sports bar vibe. I wouldn't recommend for games.

I don't think so. More like Happy to get a parking spot and Happy to get a seat, especially if the weather's good.

Yes, a great veggie mezze type entree and other sides and salads that are vegan or vegetarian and could be made vegan.
What is parking like here?
they have their own (tiny) lot. Theres a dirt lot paid parking as you turn on the road. Beware they limit you to two hours so dont pay for more parking time!

It's good, not great. I found it priced high for the portions/value, but good accompaniment to beer.
I am interested in dining here but the wine prices look outrageous. Really? By the way, I'm talking about the bottles of wine, not by the glass...especially the premium bottles.
Let me see if I get this straight...you're going to a brewery. For wine. And the prices don't suit you. Especially the premium bottles? I want you to read that back again. Say it out loud.
