The shaky beef has a bit of a different flavor and special tangy/salty sauce to dip it in. Service Was great and there is a waiting time if you come after 7pm.

It was delicious and the portion was pretty generous; you get a lot of beef! I got the Bun Bo Hue ($14) which is a spicy beef noodle soup with lemongrass. The broth was tasty and so flavourful! The portion was pretty substantial too. My boyfriend got the Bun Rieu ($14) which is a crab/tomato/pork broth based noodle soup. I had a taste of the soup and it was also really good! I especially loved that they give you a full variety of herbs to add to the soup noodles, which not all Vietnamese restaurants do these days. Too bad this location is far from me, but I would definitely come back for more!

We were lucky in our timing and managed to sit as we arrived. We always order spring rolls and rice wraps no matter where we go, and these were good. Our table enjoyed a variety of soups from a basic chicken and egg noodle to rare beef rice noodle and two special soups, one based on a traditional broth and the other Tom Yum. The traditional broth was good, flavorful and fragrant. The Tom Yum had just the right amount of heat, but was too much of a good thing for me to really enjoy it fully. The portions were good, quick and delicious. Definitely would visit again!

The service is very friendly and efficient from the moment you enter. On to the food. What I don't like is when the fresh spring rolls are made in advance and are left out until someone orders. The rice paper becomes dry and chewy and that ruins it. Sadly, Chez Lam served them like that, so they can be better. The pho soup was great. There is good flavor and ingredients are fresh. They have all the condiments on the table. I like my soup with more onion shavings and shallots but it was still tasty. I found the service to be extra good and attentive. That was much appreciated. Prices are similar to other Vietnamese restaurants. They accept cash, debit, credit. Location wise: Chez Lam is in a strip mall with a gas station, dollar store, massage therapy clinic, and a few more shops.

Found this place on Yelp and a good star rating and I was happy with the results. It's located at a large strip mall quite a ways away in Barrhaven - hence the name. Grabbed takeout at 8:15pm and it was good. Got 2 orders of spring rolls which were still very crispy when we got back from the 20 min drive. A little on the greasy side but they had fried it up fresh. The house special combo had shrimp, beef, pork and chicken - a decent amount of protein and tasty. A somewhat small restaurant but still had a few tables of patrons at that time. The staff were nice. Plenty of parking.

While parking, I searched the strip mall to find a spot for me to order food. Barrhaven Vietnamese Restaurant popped out among all the other chains. I called in an order for pickup. When I arrived the place was moderately busy, but i was greeted immediately. The restaurant itself is very cute and cozy. I will definitely be back for lunch or dinner. As we were walking out, my children noticed someone eating pho and even requested we come back. I ordered the Vermecelli with chicken and I am so grateful I did. There was so much chicken and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Even the salad was green and fresh, along with cucumber that had been cut into tiny strips. It also came with two fried spring rolls. I prefer regular spring rolls, but they were delicious, very crispy and flakey. I prefer my vermecelli completely mixed, so I added the dressing, shut the takeout box, and shook it up. This made it easier to have noodles, greens, and chicken with every bite. I was too hungry to think to take a photo, but will add some on future visits. Definitely recommend and will absolutely be back!

The beef was really tender and flavourful. I did get a fatty and gristley piece though :( but on the most part, the beef was lean. The chicken was lean and a tiny bit dry, but still flavourful a tasty. The shrimp were medium sized and ok. Not that plump nor juicy, but for the price, not surprising. The spring roll was mostly wrapper and too oily for my liking. The rice dish came with fresh cucumbers and pickled radishes and pickled carrots. The vermicelli dish came with shredded lettuce and bean sprouts, which were underneath the vermicelli. It also came with pickled carrots and crushed peanuts. The fresh vegetables were fresh and the picked vegetables had a good sour bite to them. We also got a tub of fish sauce, which neither of us like, but my dad does, so I saved it and gave it to him on the weekend when I went to see my parents. I appreciated that they labelled the fish sauce with a warning to open slowly (with a smiley face, lol). Food is packed in styrofoam, which is not my preference for environmental and health reasons. Service was very courteous and efficient. I was told it would be 25 minutes. I returned in 22 minutes and they were just tying up the bag. Perfect timing! Note that the prices on their takeout menu (pictured) are outdated. My dishes were listed as $9.50 each on the menu, but I was charged $11.75, which is still a great deal. Prices have gone up as a result of the Covid Pandemic, so I get it. I would just suggest that they print new takeout menus. The restaurant is a little off the beaten path in Chinatown.
