He ordered combination fried rice, which he had ordered multiple times and it was inconsistent on quality. First time was perfect, today rice was more soggy. Upon entering, I immediately noticed the 30-35 ft ceilings. Hanging from the ceilings are cool sphere light fixtures that has 5 candle light bulbs. There's about 14 tables and looks squeaky clean with plenty of natural light. On the left wall there are paintings of various Vietnamese landscapes and food. This was my first time here. I ordered egg rolls and a Pho Đặc Biệt. The egg rolls came out first. They were homemade. Had a little pork filling with vermicelli. Nothing special. The Pho came out piping hot! I love hot soup! The presentation was A1. The meat portion was on the lighter side. The pho broth was very light. I can definitely taste the fish sauce but not the other "Pho" spices. It was lacking depth. I had to add plenty of hoisin sauce and sriracha to it to make it enjoyable. Overall, Vietnam Bistro is a clean and cute Vietnamese restaurant with better than average presentation. The Vietnamese flavors aren't as pronounced as I would like it, but I'm not the only person who eats here. read more

I asked for a Thai tea, which to my disappointment was clearly made with powder rather than actual tea leaves. The menu makes it look like the tea is genuine, since the bubble teas are a whole separate item on the menu. When I asked a server (not mine - she never came back to the table until I needed the check), he was confused by my inquiry and thought I was asking for boba to be put in the drink. I took two sips and left the rest there. It was nasty. For my entree I had the pork vermicelli bowl, which wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't great. The pork lacked flavor and was lukewarm. The main reason I'm giving this restaurant a poor rating is because I've had a few unpleasant experiences in the past, but the last one was it for me. I'll never go back. First unpleasant experience: I ordered the lemon grass beef vermicelli bowl. *Now I know every restaurant is different (but the same - to a degree) and when I told them I was unsatisfied with the taste of my bowl they just said sorry. No offer to replace it with something else. In regards to the taste it was NOTHING like any vermicelli bowl with lemon grass beef that I've ever eaten. It almost tasted like a light brown beef and gravy mixture with sautéed onions. Totally bland. Second unpleasant experience: actually dined in and ordered a banh mi (beef sandwich). After a few bites, I asked for some more mayo. Moments later the young lady brings me a 1 ounce plastic container of mayo and tells me "That'll be a dollar". A DOLLAR? For a tablespoon of mayo? She had to get the gestapo manager to explain to me that it was a special mayo that they create from unicorn blood and tooth fairy dust. I told the manager the young lady should've told me there was a charge and I would've done without. Reluctantly, the manager let me have it for free. Third unpleasant experience: This time I went in to order 2 banh mi (beef) sandwiches. One to eat right there in the restaurant and the other to eat at lunch while at work later. And yes, I remembered to ask for extra mayo. Also asked for exerts cilantro and extra beef on both sandwiches. When the young lady at the register told be my total was $28 I was like what? The sandwiches are only like $7 each... She explained that the extra beef was $5 for each sandwich plus the cost of the other extra ingredients....No problem. I bit the bullet and paid the $28. After a few bites of my sandwich I noticed like 5 little leaves of cilantro (literally)... when I opened the sandwich, I noticed the amount of meat looks like the regular amount you'd get on a regular sandwich. When I asked if they had given me extra per my order, they went and got the manager to explain. He said it was a filet mignon cut of beef and they weigh out exact amounts....blah blah blah. I'll never go back. If you can't make it look like I'm getting my money's worth (especially when I paid nearly $30 for 2 freaking sandwiches) then your business deserves my bad review. And by the way. Get rid of those stupid small mason jar glasses with the handles. Two gulps and your glass is empty. Also tell your staff to quit opening my straw and leaving the tip covered when they insert it into my drink. I can open my own straw. The whole point is to give the customer a clean UNOPENED straw. Like I said in the beginning, the sandwiches are delicious, but the service sucks! And don't order extra meat, you won't get it A DOLLAR for mayo!! GTFO read more

The broth of the pho dish was full of flavor with the various spices. It was not bland, but just right and brought instant gratification to my taste buds. The Vietnamese iced coffee was flavorful and so addictive. The iced coffee is a must try at this restaurant. Overall, pricing for the foods are reasonable and are comparable to those at Vietnamese restaurants in the vicinity. Tried out Vietnam Bistro next to Buc-ee's. The young ladies working in there were so friendly! They kept the tables clean and were on top of refilling water. Not to bash any establishments but so many places have forgotten about customer service. It's normally what do you want to drink or do you know what you want? My friend and I had gone to Buccees car wash right next door and I was searching for Vietnamese food really close as I was so ready for lunch. This place popped up and when I read the reviews, we were in. The spring rolls in rice paper were so fresh! That's my favorite thing to eat in Vietnamese restaurants.
