I narrowed down my TV choice to two and went into Best Buy to compare the pictures. They didn't have one of them, and attention from the sales people was spotty, so I went to Video Only based on an ad I saw in the San Jose Mercury. When I walked in I was the only customer in a room about 70 by 100 feet in size, with TVs everywhere. They had both of my models in the same view so I compared and quickly decided on one. With the old-TV trade-in they offer, the price was $200 less than Best Buy or anywhere else I'd found. If you are looking for a high-end display or a display on budget, look no further. Video Only is the place to go hands down. I am highly researched in displays and AV technology for work and I only wish I had known about this store years ago. I was looking to pick up a LG 65" OLED C7 display and looked all over at Best Buy, Fry's, and Costco for availability. No one had this TV except for select location too far away for me to reach. I took a chance and decided to see if there were any local businesses that would stock this highly sought after display and found Video Only. I gave them a call and Craig (store manager) immediately picked up. A welcome surprise after being on hold for at least 10 minutes for other stores. Craig told me he had the TV I wanted in stock and that they had great prices. He was unable to quote me over the phone but that didn't bother me. I figured a new display like this is going to cost the same anywhere you go. I headed in their direction and showed up to the store. Walked right in and saw my TV right in the entrance. The store is very well laid out with plenty of viewing distance from each display so their customers can preview different viewing angles and distances from the panel. Within seconds of me being in the store, Chuck approached me and began conversating with me about my C7. In no way shape or form did Chuck seem like a salesperson. He was very friendly and knowledgable about displays and me being an AV professional myself, we had a good discussion on the different TV's that were on the market and the technology that made them so great. I did not feel at any point that Chuck was trying to sell me anything. He was just well educated about the products and could explain the technology behind the displays with confidence. I was able to confirm that he was not selling anything up or making up features because I thoroughly researched this TV beforehand for weeks and everything he had to say was true. As fluent as Chuck was in AV speak, I did not need any convincing to pick out this TV. I was ready to buy the TV before I even stepped inside the store. I went ahead and told Chuck that I was going to pull the trigger and get that TV today and he went right ahead to get the paperwork ready. Before doing so, I mentioned to Chuck that I didn't think the box would fit in my car. After the paperwork was finished, he went to the back and brought my TV out to my car. After determining that the box was unable to fit in my car, he did not hesitate for a moment and offered to take the company van to deliver my TV to my house. I graciously accepted his offer and headed home. 5 minutes later Chuck showed up on my driveway and brought the display into my house. Not once did he mention any costs for the delivery and he provided unmatched customer service with a smile. I cannot stress more how wonderful the experience I had with Video Only was. From customer service, to pricing (I saved hundreds of dollars on this TV), I can honestly say this has been one of the best shopping experiences in my life. I strongly suggest you go to Video Only. I was planning to buy a Samsung UN65JS8500. Was looking at bestbuy, Frys, Amazon and other e-com portals. It was not available for in-store pick-up, only option was to get it shipped. Bought from Amazon but a snag resulted in getting the order cancelled next day. I googled for stores and found VO and then on 'Yelp' all these fab ratings. Called the Mountain View store and Fred picked up the phone. It was such a wonderful experience talking and finally buying the TV from VO. My daughter and I went into Video Only today expecting to take a look at their TV selection before checking out the competition across the street at Best Buy. We were treated so well by Donnell that we never made it to Best Buy. We ended up buying a 55" Samsung QLED TV and ordered a soundbar to be picked up later. Donnell was knowledgeable, informative, and patient as we discussed our options between ourselves for a while. He provided information about Best Buy's (and others') prices and offered several discounts which I had not expected. Though I am not a fan of extended warranties, after all the other discounts and a discount on the extended warranty, itself, we ended up with a 4-year extension to the 1-year manufacturer's warranty for a very low price. There was no pressure to upgrade to a higher price range or to make a purchase at all. Our experience with Donnell was outstanding and Video Only's prices were surprisingly low. I was looking at 65 inch Sony 4K OLED A8G TV specifically (loyal Sony fans for 40 years for exceptional color & reliability) & already researched reviews. Pleasure to meet Fred,sales manager -seasoned professional,knowledgeable,patient,calm, quiet,respectful - gave me space/time to browse store without hovering/pressuring me. Was honest /listened to my needs (I already had audio system) & he didn't try to up sell me on A9G ($800 more for better speakers & slightly faster processor). A8G was more than enough:) Fred gave me great deal that included free delivery/extended 5 year warranty/small HD Antenna (too weak for my location but nice gesture)....in addition to the store's $200 trade in discount! UPDATE: Oct 24, 2013 Updating my initial review and adding two stars. After the debacle described below, I shopped around and had another rather helpful experience at Best Buy Sunnyvale. But, neither BB nor the other options could match VO's offers (price match through the end of the year, 30 days trial, and free long-term warranty), so I gave VO a call. Josiah answered and was very helpful and didn't pressure. Just on the phone he was able to get me a guarantee that I'd have 30 days to evaluate and then get cash back if I was unsatisfied--rather than the store credit that they usually offer. He also threw in free delivery and haul away (if needed), along w/ the mounting bracket (for my *mystery discount* mentioned below). Once I was ready to decide (b/t the Samsung 75" F7100 and top-of-the-line Sharp 70"), Josiah was helpful and amiable. So I went ahead and got the Samsung and so far, so good. - - - - - - - - - After all the rave reviews, I was excited to try out Video Only during my search for a new TV. I had stopped by Best Buy in Mountain View (surprisingly helpful, knowledgeable, and low-pressure) and Fry's in Palo Alto (somewhat indifferent staff, w/ mediocre knowledge), so figured this would be my final and best stop. I was mistaken. When I first attempted to visit the store (on a Tuesday evening around 6), I found an empty parking lot and a small sign on the door indicating that they were closed for the night for training, but would offer "special discounts" to those who mentioned having missed them. So, I made a mental note and returned the next day. When I walked in, I was approached by a salesman, to whom I indicated I had a pretty good sense for the TVs I wanted to choose from. He seemed to know a good deal about the televisions, and repeated to me something like seven times that he's been "in the business for 31 years"--repeatedly implying that I should just defer to his superior wisdom. That wasn't helpful at all, and felt like a persuasive tactic employed to get me to take his word as gospel. That was partly why I got a bit of a "slick salesman" vibe from him, as he persistently tried to get me to just surrender and purchase a model that's nearly twice the cost of the others in its class--which I gladly would have done, of course, if he could've made clear to me that the difference was truly worth the money. When I tried to inquire whether the higher-priced model was really worth the significant cost differential over other sets, the salesman ranted on and on about VO's warranty offers. I tried to refocus him on the differences between the sets themselves, but that only led him to bash the other models, in particular the Vizio (which VO doesn't sell), which he assured me would inevitably break in a couple of years, leaving me out of luck and without a warranty (which VO helpfully offers, free of charge, on their higher-end models). This is, of course, a ridiculous assertion. First, if Vizios were guaranteed to fail after 2-3 years, the Internet would know, and their sales numbers would suffer. (They're doing extremely well and are better reviewed each year.) Second, even if the fail rate on Vizio's is higher than for other sets (something he had no actual proof of, other than to "trust him"), it still wouldn't make sense (provided I like the Vizio's picture and features just fine) to pay nearly *double* for a premium model only because the Vizio *might* fail at some point. (This is simple risk analysis: even if the Vizio has a 50% risk of failing (which is surely higher than reality), and is half the cost of a comparable set, then it makes no sense whatsoever to pay double the cost of the Vizio based on that mere possibility). The salesman clearly didn't enjoy when I pushed back (clearly, but not rudely) on this false logic. And I just didn't appreciate being condescended to, and sold a bill of goods based on fear-mongering and the bashing of a competitor product. Most people don't buy cars, or TVs, based on the fear of failure and a warranty alone. It's one factor, but it's not everything. Finally, I called back later to inquire what the discounts would be for having come the day before with no one there, and the same salesman told me he would "get [me] a good price." When I asked what that meant, in terms of percentages, or a ballpark range, he recited some anecdote about how VO gets their products directly from manufacturers, and how he was able to get some great deal for a business on 4K sets that "no one else in America" could have gotten. (Cue my eye-roll.) Once he finished recounting that completely irrelevant anecdote, I asked again if he could give me a rough estimate. He then merely reiterated that he'd "take care of [me]." So, no clarity at all, despite the promise of discounts. For all I know, it's $5. Sadly, since I didn't work with one of the other salespeople about whom people have raved, I don't think I'll be returning to Video Only--at least not in Mountain View. read more

You will be sorry! I went to many stores during slow periods and no one even asked me if I had any questions. I went to video only and Josiah helped me right away....with a tie on!!! On his Birthday! and he was really knowledgeable about all aspects of my concerns. I was in the marked for a large screen TV LED or Plasma and he explained the differences, and informed me of the latest technology. They offered up a 200 gift card, many discounts on other items, some free items that I was interested in purchasing and some that did not have in mind to buy but did. All in all I felt a difference in my purchase verse other stores. More personable and rewarding. I felt that my money spent was worth it and not like my purchase was generic. I'm an avid purchaser of online items but some things you have to talk to a knowledgeable person and see things in person before. Video Only is the place to go and Josiah and the VO crew will take care of your needs from, TV's, Audio, BluRay, ETC. Oh yes after the entire deal was done (new TV, AV receiver, BluRay player, wall mount, and wireless keyboard) paid for installed at my house I went back to pick up a back ordered item and thought I would buy some additional items to complete my viewing experience and he still through in some free item's!!!!! Wonderful service. We came in ready to buy but planning to just browse to start getting an idea about what sort of tv we would want. We were the only people in the store and I was worried we would be over sold, but actually the young sales person was super helpful. He took time to walk us through the options, understand what we were looking for and then explain the positives and negatives of the models we were looking into. Then when I was about ready to get on my phone to start price checking online, he was one step ahead of me which I appreciated. He invited us to go over to their computer to take a look at prices online, to show that they were competitive. Right on! I first went to Best Buy. I wanted a 46 - 55 inch flat screen, and needed it installed and delivered. After asking 2 people for help, I finally had a very young guy try and up-sell me everything. Quoted me, for everything. 1495.00, which was not in my budget - under a grand. Across the street, you can even see it from BB was the Video Only store. I walked in quite late and a guy named Kraig helped me. Got me a better TV [!] as per Consumer Reports, all the fixins' and delivery and install for 939.14. Go figure. He was old enough to have had lots of experience, was very educated about everything in there, and even recommended I go to Amazon for a wall mount shelf for the DVD player. i was thrilled, actually. I'm writing this as Josh is putting the thing up on my wall. Caveat Emptor with those big box stores, folks. I honestly can't think of one plus for them. I did price out at Costco, same price but no delivery, no service. Last big plus. I didn't get jerked around because I am a woman. I purchased a 65-inch LG television plus LG sound bar during their Black Friday sale. Got a great Black Friday price - but even better, I got intelligent advice and great service (thanks, Fred)! Video Only had superior product selection across the various brands (even compared to huge stores like Best Buy and Costco and Frye's. They were happy to hold my purchase until December 24th so it would be a nice Christmas surprise for my family. When I arrived to pickup the television, everything was waiting for me by the front door. I really want to advocate for people to purchase from Video Only because they have such superior selection and service. I wasted my time by checking out five different stores on Black Friday, but I should have avoided the frenzy and just purchased here. My only fear is that they won't be in business long because the store was empty even on Black Friday. Meanwhile, across the street Best Buy with their sleazy uninformed salespushers was mobbed. I just don't get it - with the Video Only price match, there is no reason to put up with the poor service from Best Buy, Costco, Frye's, etc. Video Only has everything going for them. Hands down, this is the ONLY place one should go to get a TV. The staff are super knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions we had when discussing different specs for TVs. They knew their stuff when it came to plasma vs LED, backlit vs edgelit, etc. Basically, come here if you don't know much about TVs and come even if you do because they'll actually be able to match what you are looking for. They price match as well, although we didn't have to use it because they were already cheaper than any other competitors we looked at before. The fact that they offer a 2 year warranty for no charge was awesome as well. We told them we were also in the market for a stand to hold all of our various boxes and they gave the one we wanted to us for half off. Talk about customer service! read more

Drove by this store for years without realizing what it was. But was in the market for a new TV recently and a friend recommended it. Saw on their website they had a sale on the 65" LG OLED TV I wanted for $700 less than Amazon and Best Buy, so I went in. Turned out that sale had *just* ended the same day I went in (their prices apparently change on Fridays). But Frederick (the sales manager) was very cool and honored it anyway (I had a printout of the sale ad). He also gave me some really good bundled discounts on accessories (4K blu-ray player and Atmos soundbar). And he was very professional, staying on top of all the details. It got to the point that the baseball scores in the left hand corner of the screen were blurry and unreadable- so that did it ! New TV time. After extensive research, we decided on a Samsung LED 42". When we arrived at Video Only, we were guided - not forced - to look at the many sets they have on hand. When we had questions ( some of them really basic...) they were answered thoroughly, knowledgeably, and patiently. At no point did we feel rushed or pressured. We were simply helped, informed, and encouraged when we finally made our choice of a Samsung LED 46" TV. The salesperson (Ken) was amazing. We actually enjoyed the buying experience and even bought a Blu-Ray player. The TV was a bit of a challenge to get running, but with on-screen prompting we made it through. When it came to setting up the sound system we realized our tuner was outdated, so back we went to Video only where Ken helped us again, and home we went with a brand new, reasonably priced, warrantied Onkyo tuner. I bought a 55 inch Sony 4k Smart TV less than a week ago...this week loses internet connection at times even though the router is in the next door and the only thing connected is the TV and my phone....nor could it find any other surrounding wifi, the audio button sometimes has no response......and some Netflix shows have no audio. Called Video...did I keep the box....unfortunately I didnt, so I stuck with a lemon that they offered to have a service technican repair. I've never had an electonic have this many problems in less than week. read more

What makes Video Only standout? They believe in customer service vs sales. The time had finally come for our family to get a new tv. With suggestion from my brother there's only one place I should go is Video Only. Of course I did my research on what I was looking for, as well as checked prices online, looked over various reviews and looked into a variety of ads from other retailers beforehand. I walked in and met Mike who was the manager of the Mountain View store. I let him know what I was looking for and he actually took the time to listen and walk me through different models that would fit our family's needs. What I appreciated was he cared more about informing about the strengths and weakness of the models of each model. I had made my mind up between a couple of models and I let him know that I would still shop around. What blew me away was he actually let me know that another retailer had it at a lower price and that he would be able to match it, yet couldn't take out the sales tax which the other retailer was doing. I did check the other retailer as well as others and online stores again. Since this was a pretty pricey investment, I took the time to think through and asked myself, "Would I have the peace of mind knowing that if anything were to happen to my tv, I would be taken care of if I bought it from them?". I knew after my experience with Mike and the time he took with me, that the other retailers and online stores wouldn't give me the service Video Only would. I came back the next day to Video Only and bought the tv from them! What reassured me is that Video Only's extended warranty was lower in price compared to Best Buy, Fry's, Costco, Amazon and others with same or better coverage! This made up for the few dollars more I paid in sales tax! In addition, Mike confidently reminded me that I had a 60 day exchange period and could upgrade if I wasn't happy with it. I had no need to do so, with the amount of information he gave me and letting me take the time to think through it and do additional research, it was the perfect purchase. All my friends were blown away that I had a name brand 4k tv, that blew away their flat screens they bought from other retailers. I can see why my brother told me not to waste my time with other places. The sales representatives in Video Only know their products and want to give their customers the best possible tv for their needs! read more

The first thing the idiot sales guy says is I don't know what happened to the TV - ya stupid I took it on vacation and th TV got more action than I did...literally shaking my head at the stupid sales guy because I NEVER wanted to return the TV...just asking what kinda retailer sells partially packaged items- secondly he didn't even bother to offer any help...he had the nerve to tell me to call the next day as there are no managers on the floor.... I, too, walked in to get a stand for the new 65" LG OLED TV I'd purchased the previous week from Costco, only to find that Video Only had the newer model of that TV for sale at $1000 off the price I paid at Costco! Fortunately, Costco allowed me to return the TV since they don't price match, and I purchased the new TV at Video Only w/ Kraig Martin. And then, a week afterwards, I decided to buy an LG soundbar, and Kraig gave me the package price for it even though I didn't buy it at the same time as the TV AND that package price was no longer being advertised! (And that price was about $350 less than Amazon's price.) Throughout these visits and conversations, I never felt pressure to buy anything, or feel that Kraig was trying to upsell me. And he arranged for delivery next day at no charge, and also for haul away of my old TV for only $10. And when the delivery guys brought the TV, they set it up and plugged it into 3 components and had the remotes working and synchronized in 15 minutes. Totally amazing! THANK YOU KRAIG! Do not underestimate the power of YELP. I gave Sony and Video only a tough review on a TV that had a problem 2 months after the warranty ran out. The next day I received an Email from the store manager, with a notice he had contacted Sony, the next day I got a phone call from Sony! Strange as it may seem but the problem corrected itself the same day Sony called. A few weeks ago my wife and I checked out the Video Only store in Mt. View, CA. We had been researching 75" LED TV's for the last month or so. We had an awesome 65" NuVision TV, but the LCD panel failed prematurely and the company had also gone out of business. It could not be fixed... Bummer... We met Kraig Martin at Video Only and he was extremely knowledgeable and has a very pleasant manner about him. A lot of the sales people we had met with during our research ( at other stores we visited) appeared less than current on the TV's we were considering (Sony vs. Samsung). Kraig gave us his full attention and even connected up several TV's we were considering so that we could judge the picture qualities of each set side by side. Kraig clearly spelled out the differences in the TV's and was very patient during our decision making process. He applied "zero" pressure on us. He was helpful and not just trying to make the sale. We knew the market and my wife and I liked what we heard and the manner in which Kraig assisted us, so we decided to buy our Samsung LED from Kraig. Why would anyone go to a big box store for video and audio equipment? Video Only has the expertise and the merchandise for those of us who know what we are looking for in entertainment equipment. The new store in Mountain View is even closer to us South Bay folks who were willing to take a drive to San Mateo before. All the televisions are clearly displayed, so one only needs to decide which one to choose which may take some time with their wide selection. The staff does not hover, so we can take our time, but if we have questions, they are quick to respond and to answer even the dumbest questions. I went in to do price comparison on a tv i was interested in (Vizio M60) but walked out with a totally different tv (samsung ju7100). The customer service was really good and the guy helped me contrast and compare some of the features. I decided on the 60 inch samsung tv in the end but it was a floor model (which got me a discount on the price). After coming home, I noticed multiple scratches on the back of the TV which i was unaware of while buying (I know its a floor model, but had i been made aware of the scratches , would have probably not purchased this one). I was looking for a 60 inch tv. I would have given a much higher rating if not for the scratches (5 rating). read more

Wow what a great experience...sales team was extremely knowledgeable, were not at all pushy and helps knock a few bucks off my total bundle making me feel like I got a great deal! Shopped around and I'd say for a OLED, slim articulating mount, and 4K DVD player I saved $700-1k. Beyond that I showed up to pick up my equipment with a sleeping little one so I called and asked if they could bring out the equipment and the sales person Aaron did and kindly helped me load everything up! I don't understand why this place has good ratings. The way they run their business and treat their customers, they shouldn't be open for business. We purchased 85" Samsung QN75QN90A on March 13, 2021. Courtney helped us with the purchase and she told us it would take 1-2 weeks to order the tv. On week 3, we called Courtney to get the status. She said the tv has not arrived yet. Week 4, we called for a status and nothing. She blamed it because of Covid there's delays on their shipments. If you can see the pattern, WE always called for a status not once have they called us as a courtesy. We even mentioned that to Courtney, she only apologized. At this point we wanted to take our business elsewhere, she spoke to her manager and said for our inconvenience they will give us a discount off our tv and provide us a loaner tv. The model was one level lower than we bought but it was the same size. They never gave us a discount BTW. So we decided to give them a chance. Every single week after, WE kept calling for a status and their excuse was now it is because of Samsung that is causing the delay. They blamed it on Covid and Samsung. This is now week 8, we spoke to the manager, he just gave an empty apology and offer what he had in stock which was a more expensive tv but with a discount. Why would we want to spend even more money? So we requested our money back, and we have to wait another 10 days for a refund. Keep in mind it took 1 day for them to charge our credit card. This place should not be in business. This our first and last time to do business with company. Terrible experience and such a waste of time. Their commercial says, "Visit us first or you'll be sorry." That is false advertisement because we were sorry we ever step into that store. read more

A big 5 stars goes to Video Only and specifically Danial who helped me pick out an amazing new 60" TV. Daniel is very knowledgeable about the products, listened to my needs and provided me with a few recommendations. There was no pressure to buy right then and there, he said he would honor the price if it went back up and would inform me if the price changed. I ended up buying the LG and it was delivered on time as promised. What really separates Daniel and the Video Only team was their post sale commitment to customer service. I had trouble setting up the sound bar and after a few texts back and forth Daniel called me (on his night off) and walked me through it, 30 seconds later everything was working perfectly! read more

I went to Video Only shopping for two TV's. Salesman Mike was a huge help. After a quick conversation he recommended a TV they had on a "Black Friday" sale and we looked online and VO's price had every competitor beat by at least $100 for the 55in Samsung. They also had the best current price for the 32in Samsung I wanted and Mike was able to knock an additional $30 off the sale price for that one. The store manager said they would price guarantee through the end of the year! They mentioned to keep the box and packaging materials for 30 days in case a return was needed. Sure enough, as I was unpacking TVs at home I found small defect in the frame of the 55in Samsung. I called them the next morning, brought it in to the store, and they made the exchange in 15 minutes. Great deal, no pressure, and solid customer service from Salesman Mike and VO MV. We were in the market for a new 75", 4K with HDR, big screen, my wife wanted one for her birthday ( awesome wife huh!). I called the technician that installed our home theater system ( pretty extensive system) and asked for a recommendation for the best TV on the market with out breaking the bank. He gave me his thoughts and I started to research. I Checked the specs, prices at Amazon, Best Buy, Frys, Costco. My Tech stated the TV was $2500.00, but he could get it for $2400.00. He was right, everyone was $2500.00 and the TV had 4.8 stars out of 5. We went to Best Buy - great knowledge and very helpful, we saw the TV and compared it against the other TV I was considering. I was driving home and heard the Video Only radio commercial and thought " shit, I have heard this for the last 2 years, I'll give them a call". When I called, Fred , the Mt View store manager answered. I asked him if he had the 2 TV's in 75" I was looking at, he said " yes, in fact they are side by side, come by and I will make it worth your trip". So we drove there.....from Almaden to Mt View, no short drive. Fred was extremely knowledgeable about all of the aspects of both TV's - and they were both in stock. I was hesitant on buying so I told him my tech could get the TV for $100.00 less...... Fred matched the price. I said "I like Costco's 2 year warranty, this TV has 1".........Fred matched the 2 yr warranty. I said " I don't think it will fit in our SUV" .....Fred said "if it doesn't, we will deliver it for free". Every objection I had, Fred beat it. Then Fred threw in a Free Wall mount and because it was my wife's birthday, he reduced it another $50.00. My Tech stated " that is a better deal than I can get and I get Wholesale". All told, reduced the price $150.00, threw in a wall mount ( $100.00) and doubled my warranty. So their radio add " Come by Video Only or you'll be Sorry"............LEGIT.
