I know many people just use Netflix and redbox these days. (my brother even works for one of those mentioned!) But,, these guys run SO MANY specials, work with you on any late fees that you might acquire, and are just plain awesome. So, do your county a FAVOR, and spend $3 to help support a GREAT local business. The employees, all seem (at least pretend well if not) to like their jobs, or at least get paid good..... This place is great! It's a throw back to the yesteryear with its huge square footage full of all sorts of movies. Their selection includes just about everything a person could desire. They have all of the new releases, mainstream to indie to foreign and loads of older films. Each day of the week has a special promotional price or deal. Late fees are only a dollar, not the full rental price. They have punch cards for frequent uses. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. This is a great place! I love the fact there is still a video store around! Brings back memories of the good ol' days. They have a great selection of movies, the Owner/manager Is awesome and fun to talk to. My husband and I just spent about 15 minutes searching for a movie in this place and when we went to check out they let us know we needed a local ID in order to rent a movie. My husband works in Warrenton but we live full-time in Portland and he doesn't have a local address on his ID although he spends 75% of his time 10 minutes away from the store. There was nothing he could do and we left empty-handed with no movie and nothing to do on a Thursday night. The movie selections were great and we really wish we could've enjoyed a movie this evening. I think it's a stupid policy and if they want more business they should think about holding a credit card number in case people run off with their movies. read more

Service is good. Staff remembers customers and very intelligent when asking about movies. I feel comfortable enough to have them choose my movies for me and I haven't been disappointed yet. I will never use a redbox as long as they are open here!!! read more

While visiting or staying in Astoria I think that this is the go to place for video media in all categories including past and present. Current releases are timely and there is plenty of stock but get there early for the newest releases. I like to mix it up and grab a popular classic video that you can find in here. I also noticed that you can buy many popular classic TV series video sets and many other singles for your collection should you have one. I like to order a pizza at Sahara's Pizza store next door (adjoining) and browse the video store for my selection. In short you could go in and get your movie and be out in 5 minutes or spend 30 minutes easily in this place. A relic of the physical media age Video Horizons should cease being a for profit venture and start being a filmic archive. Then again that would require it's employees to have an expansive knowledge of cinema (both modern and classic). VH employees do not seem to have this knowledge. The owner/manager seems to be the only one who speaks with some artistic appreciation of film. As a native who has frequented this establishment since childhood I recall more knowledgeable employees that sadly have abandoned the Titanic that is the American video rental industry. Moreover, their customer service leaves SO much to be desired. When the biggest contemporary draw of the video store is the sense of community that movie conversations create--it is essential to have superior customer service skills, film knowledge, and overall social competency. The employee that has most often helped me possesses none of these qualities. If you know exactly what you want, already have an account, no late fees, and require no customer service then Video Horizons is for you. If not, streaming services are the way to go. I was extremely pissed off. I rented the Big Bang theory and on the outside it said complete first season with no disclaimers or warning labels and it turned out to be just one disc halfway through the season. I called and the guy told be that they put little tabs on the outside to notify what disc we were getting. I looked and saw a small little yellow tab that just had d-3 on it, no other statements or anything. I feel it is false advertising and I'm extremely upset that they didn't even try to rectify the situation. I probably will never go back read more

My favorite business in Astoria. I've been coming here since 1990! All of the staff are not only knowledgeable, but are genuinely courteous. Rentals are reasonably priced, as are the previously viewed films for sale. Great video game collection too! I'm pretty sure that ownership hasn't changed in the 26 years I've been coming here. I only wish I could give it ten stars. Goonies never say die! read more
