What an interesting find! First off I love finding record stores to rummage through when I'm traveling but this place goes above and beyond that. Truly, I have never seen such a wide collection of DVDs, cassettes, CDs, and vinyl. Another alarming thing is how many of these items, such as the cassettes, are in the original wrapper! It was like a museum to the past, and I mean that in the best ways possible. It reminded me of the 90s being at the local record store combing the aisles for something that peaked my interest. This place is decorated with lots of plants, musical instruments and cats. Yes, cats. Apparently proceeds of this place help our furry friends and the cats often end up here as a second-chance shelter, so how do you not love that? The guy working there wasn't the friendliest at first, but once I started asking questions and buying things, he lightened up. I'm not sure if he thought I was just wasting his time at first or not. My boyfriend and I stopped here on a little roadtrip. He bought an Ozzy record. Very weird owner who did not speak to us and when we asked him a couple questions acted like it was an inconvenience for him to answer us. Also, he had two birds in different cages both covered up. I felt bad for them as I could see that was their entire life. I asked him what their names were even though I couldn't see them only hear them, and he acted so weird about it. It's the worst "record shop" I've ever visited. Imagine installing a pawnshop inside the living room of a hoarder house, and you've got a good idea of what you're in for when you step inside. It was cluttered and filthy, with various brass instruments hanging from the front windows. The sole employee, "Tim," argued with someone on the telephone while I was trying to shop. How do you pick out used CDs in a shop that seals 100% of its merchandise behind padlocked plastic sheets? (Please see the photos.) Plus, the selection sucked. Ending his phone call, Tim came out and glared at me while I peered through the plastic, trying to find something worth buying. I walked out empty-handed--never a good sign in a used record shop. This place was cool as heck. A large variety of eclectic movies and musical instruments and cats! I learned this is a home of last chance cats from the shelter which I thought was really nice. I met one of the cats, Fuzzy Wuzzy, who seemed great. Fun place, would return. read more

This place is unique and rather cool. It sells used DVD, CD's, tapes and lots of vinyl records. There's also used musical instruments for sale. The best part of shopping here is knowing that your money is going to a cat rescue that takes in hard to adopt cats like blind ones, elderly, ones that have medical issues that nobody else wants, etc. I feel good spending money here knowing it's going to help felines in need on the North Coast. Such a great music/video shop! They have an infinite amount of titles and will special order anything you like if they don't already have it in stock. I was delighted to find out that all proceeds support a local animal shelter (the second-chance destination from the local county shelter). Good-bye, Amazon! Plus, they keep the 'last chance' animals that they are unable to re-home to live out their final days in peace. I've read a lot of negative reviews on a local blog about the man the runs this place and I find them to be unfounded. Sometimes it feels like Astorians just need something to whine about. He's a bit quiet at first but once you ask about the animals that live in the shop he warms right up. When I popped in with my dog, they had a conure, a miniature lion (big kitty!) and three dogs. He helped me find a hard-to-find album the other week and was super-friendly. Heart of gold and total music geek.
