To save you the scrolling down, the massages here are seriously so good and it's a great spot for a quick, decently priced gel mani. All in all, happy with the great customer service. ---- This was going to be a five star review easily, but it hasn't even been 24 hours and my gel manicure is already peeling off. This place is horrible. They don't clean between clients , and they are rude. I went in to book a 5:30 appt. while on my lunch break. When I arrived at 5:30 the ladies all "chatted" amongst themselves and refused to help me with my appointment. I could tell they were pawning me off on the guy that does mani pedis. The woman who did my nails kept commenting continuously throughout the manicure about how short my nails were and how badly I needed a manicure. Its not a big deal but I personally wouldn't be talking to a customer the way she was speaking to me. I got a French gel manicure and the white line is so thin, you can barely even tell it's there. When I went to pay I noticed I was charged $2.50 extra for using a credit card. I thought this was odd, considering I called ahead to make an appointment, before I sat down I specifically asked if they accepted credit cards, and even when I paid the woman did not mention the extra charge to me until AFTER she swiped my card and only when I asked. There are no signs around stating that it is extra for credit cards either. I know it's only $2.50 (the fee is a percentage dependent on how much you spend apparently) but I thought it was sneaky of them not to mention this at all. I also think that surcharging for a credit card purchase might be illegal in NY. Either way I wouldn't bother to return, there are other places who do a much better job and don't try to sneak a couple bucks out of you. read more

I live very near this salon but have always chosen to take the subway up towards Bloomingdales to Issa Nails. Today I tried Victoria Nails and it was a mistake. First sign of a questionable establishment on Park Avenue during prime hours is, where are the customers. There were none. The technician was rude on every account. There were nu mberous accounts where I just wanted to walk out even though she wasn't finished. And when I decided not to tip, the manager came running after me yelling, tip, tip, tip. In desperate need of getting my nails done, and limping from walking all around the city streets in 4 inch heals, I saw Victoria Nails from across the street and hobbled over. At $23 for a mani/pedi I expected to pay at least $9 for a manicure. To my very pleasant surprise their mani was only $7. Not only that, they were a refuge to my feet. At 2:30 they weren't very crowded and I was taken right away. Victoria herself and my manicurist were extremely attentive. Even giving me band-aids and making sure I was comfortable. My manicure was quick but meticulous. They even use lemon to disinfect and soften your skin and a fresh package of tools, sealed and sterile before opening. Victoria will get down and do nails too. Peeping up from her red rimmed glasses and making conversation with her customer. I like that. Her husband even does mani/pedis. That's right, her husband. And if you go there enough, they'll give you a permanent box of tools free of charge. This is the best and most affordable nail salon I've found yet. P.s. Sooo this is the first business (besides the cab and hotel) I patronized up in the NYC in over a decade. Also the place I learned how to use a building buzzer- something that probably should have been intuitive... but guess who got confused? So when I actually do get buzzed in and up to the second floor everyone's breakin' their neck trying to look and see the wack-a-doo who had to press the buzzer 50 times before she figured it out. Oopsies+Sorry, Ladies. If it's any consolation, I felt like a d*ck. Vicki Nails is probably one of the most well lit nail salons I've ever been to. Which is really great for actually being able to see the true color of the polishes, but unfortunately, I wasn't super impressed with their color selection of mostly reds and pinks since I would never go pink and red just seems kind of boring a lot of the time. They did have few blues though (I went with a super saturated teal) and a pretty impressive glitter polish selection- something rare at nail salons since it's a b*tch to take off. My pedi was decent and quick. Which wasn't something I minded too terribly considering my free time in NYC was limited. The chairs and tubs were a bit strange though. I guess I'm used to the ceramic, porcelain, and marble tubs but the ones here are made out of the kind of plastic playground equipment is made out of. Odd, but whatevs. Oh- and they charge a dollar extra for top coat. What? Yep, you heard right. Kinda redic. Like totally... but whatevs, it was an $18 Pedi- still cheaper than anywhere else I've ever been. Also nice were the TV screens with fun facts on them. Did you know Khloe Kardashian is the 2nd cousin twice removed from John Travolta BUT she's only 3/16 Scientologist even though her pet marmoset is full blooded evangelist? Okay, I made that up... but there's definitely about an hour of different weird (mostly useless) facts that go across the screens so you can pretend like you're learning something. My gel nails turned out alright. I like my nails super compulsively short. Like, to he nail bed or bust and preferably down to where it's about to bleed. These ones are still super long and I hate when my nails come out longer than my fingers and that's exactly what these do despite my very specific request. I realize most people want their nails to be a little longer but even so, I don't think the 'hand job' was THAT fantastic. The color doesn't even go down to the cuticle so they kind of already look a little grown out on day 1. The staff were all really nice though... especially the lady who would not rest until she got my rolled up skinny jeans over my not-so-skinny calves. God bless her bc at times I even find myself saying: it takes a village. I guess I'd say they have some points that are 5s, some that are 3s, but most are about a 4 and that's what I'm going with. I usually splurge and get a 10 or 20 minute back massage from the older Asian dude - whose name I do not know - but I like to make him my boyfriend for 10-20 minutes a week. Absolutely the BEST. I got pedi from Selly and mani from Salda,and I have never been so satisfied! It was quick, my cuticles were well cleaned, massages and exfoliation was good, and the price was unbeatable. Gel manicure was $25, and gel pedicure was $35. Everyone was really nice at the salon and they did not charge for the taking off previous gel mani and pedi. Although the place isn't fancy or huge it is clean, has good amount of pretty colors, has excellent service and price. Just left here. This is the third manicure in a row (not at this place), that has been bad. So frustrating! The girl was very nice. But as soon as she started filing my nails I knew it was going to be bad. She filed them very unevenly, I kept asking her politely to fix them. Finally I gave up. So she starts cutting my cuticles. Literally taking chunks of skin off the side of my fingers. I finally told her to just cut the cuticles near my nail bed. The color I chose must have been very old to her defense. But she applied it very sloppy, and it's totally uneven. It kept getting dented, and she kept having to fix it. Finally I just gave up and said leave it I would try to fix later. Confused about the negative reviews - I've only been here once on a Friday where there weren't many other customers but it was a great experience. The lady who did my gel manicure took her time and applied additional coats because the color I picked wasn't showing up too well. I also got a free chair massage which was actually really nice. I am employed a stone's throw (or is that a nail polish bottle's throw?) away from this place, so I'm a fan of popping in for pedicures. Technicians are friendly, prices are reasonable, and with the pedicures, they throw in a warm lotion plastic wrap treatment for your ankles. I've never experienced that so I'm not sure what that is exactly. Free candy too. Don't go Friday after work unless you like waiting for hours. I must give special recognition to one of the gentlemen who works there. The last time I was at Victoria, some of the still wet polish on my toes had smudged, and he removed all the polish and carefully reapplied, despite not having taken care of my feet earlier. This nail salon is the only one I've been to that does your gel manicure and gel pedicure at the same time! They probably knew I was tight on time and cut the session time in half (instead of 1 hour and 30 minutes, only 45 minutes)! And no, it wasn't because they were rushed; there was actually only a couple of clients here for the services. The simultaneous gel manicure and gel pedicure required a bit of maneuvering on the spa pedicure chair, but I was able to concentrate on having both done, without smudging the paint or knocking over the portable nail dryers. If you pay the full amount in cash, I think you get a free massage session for a couple of minutes (10-15?). Moreover, you must pay the tip in cash. I paid via credit card and tipped in cash. I know to bring more cash next time to get a complimentary massage, which I heard are great! read more

Looks good only for the first few days. I would never suggest going to the Salon. Frankly they just overcharge you for bad service. I have gotten my gel done last Monday, which is 10 days ago. I am beyond upset with the way my nails were done and that I already have to redo them. I have been getting gel for over three years now, and have never it lasted me so little time! This place is right next to my office and I needed a fill for my acrylics/gel polish. First of all, she didn't have any power filing tools, she used a nail file to take off my gel polish and to do all the shaping. It took almost 2 hours. Instead of filling my nails with the powder, she used drug store nail glue. I was so confused, I've never seen that done before. My nails are all different sizes and shapes and they charged me $90 for just the fill and a $13 massage. Never would go back, never would recommend. I have to RAVE about this place! I'm from Seattle here on vacation for the week. Badly needed a new shellac manicure and while staying in midtown Manhattan figured I was going to pay an arm and a leg to make this happen. I searched a few places and they were INSANELY priced and the reviews didn't look great at all. Then I came across this gem. Called ahead to see if they were available and they said come on over. I had no wait at all to be seen. The gal whose name I didn't get but she was the only one wearing glasses was FABULOUS. Seriously great all around. She helped me grab stuff from my wallet and answered my phone when it rang when most places would have been like nope not helping. She paid attention to every detail and everything looks flawless. The bonus here is if you pay in cash and it's more than $50 you also get a fantastic back massage from the gentleman. Super relaxing! This place was hands down one of the best I've been to and I wish they were in Seattle as well. I will absolutely recommend them to anyone who comes here. I went early Sunday afternoon - no wait (though the people after me had to wait a bit). They had a plastic coating for the bath and fresh unpackaged tools... plus paraffin for your heels... and a mani/pedi is only $30! I haven't gotten a pedicure in about 9 months (runner/marathon) and she was not intimidated... and did a great job. My nails came out great. You get a free massage when you pay cash over a certain amount... and while mine was only $30 she still gave me a great little 2 minute backrub when i was drying. They was also a woman sitting next to me who was a regular and rather demanding - and they were completely helpful and accommodating. The pricing is a little weird in that they charge $7 more for the new Essie non-UV gel polish (I don't know if that's normal? definitely doesn't seem worth it - in the store it's only $3 more a bottle!) but otherwise everything is really affordable and the staff is really friendly and nice. She also cut my nails I told her I'd been growing for a month down to the skin, without asking, then filed them so uneven I had to grab the nail file myself. She literally made them crooked and ragged. I thought I was on Bloopers. Then the polish -- wow. She missed 1/4 of my big toe nail - just completely missed it and I had to ask her to redo. I told her I needed out by 5 pm and she insisted I get a massage for 10 minutes and said I had time then made me 10 minutes late to my next appointment. Everything about this place is AWFUL!!!! If you want a simple mani, pedi or a gel mani .. this place works but otherwise forget it victoria nails is on the same block as my job and though i do not always go there, i had a gift certificate so i figured i would save the money.. it has taken me forever to grow out my long, natural nails, and i had them silk wrapped at another salon. the minute i walk in they tell me they do not do wraps (what nail place doesnt do wraps?) but that we could "SOAK" them off (for $10 bucks extra mind you!) and do a UV Gel Mani... so I went with it, I was happy to "soak" off the wraps and let them breath.. there was no soaking involved... they started RIPPING literally ripping my wraps off by sticking metro cards underneath to pull them up and THEN cutting the wrap with a cuticle cutter... i kept saying i dont want this, i want to soak, i have time.. no need to rush.. they said it was the same .. put my hands in a bowl for 3 minutes to shut me up, and continued with their metrocard massacre.. this OBVIOUSLY destroyed the nail underneath, totally broke almost everyone of my nails.. every single fing one.. until they said, well we can do extentions ($70) or just cut and do color gel ... i went with the color gel... i wasnt giving these crazy people one more extra dollar. so now my long luxiourious natural nails are stumps..i have lieutenant dan nails.. the paint is nice though. then upon checkout, i give her my giftcard, the difference is 9 bucks .. I put a 20 down but then I said you know what let me put it on my card (since tips are in cash only and i was going to have her change the 20 and give her maybe 5 at most even though she didnt deserve shit) .. she must have thought she did a wonderful job though because when i asked for change she put the whole $20 in her pocket ... so at this point i started laughing.. and i said no .. i need change lady.. so she gives me change all nasty.. then she asked me if i tipped the other woman who helped rip my nals off with a metro card ... and i told her dont worry i intend to (a little something, again even though she didnt deserve it, because i am not rude)...i told her that i dont need you to tell me how to tip but thank you.. The staff did not believe my claim of having phoned several hours ago to request the 6 p.m. time-slot. Had to pull out my mobile phone & show the Call Log as evidentiary support. Instead of telling when the person I requested would be free, the staff talked amongst themselves in a different language & gestured wildly. The Blame Game gets tiresome, even when you can't follow along. Addressing the manager, I slowly & calmly repeated my question / concern - 'When will Marlene be free?' After a series of undisguised eye-rolls in my direction, the response was 'Five minutes! Five minutes!' Um, Marlene just sat down to do someone's manicure - that's no cinco minuto trabajo. I go to Victoria's because I know the quality of service I am going to receive. I always get a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. My nail technician, Susan, is always consistent. Majority of the time I walk out satisfied and the prices for Manhattan are great($25 for a gel manicure and $18 for a pedicure). My nails look great and feel great. And the gel manicure usually last 2 weeks for me. The color selection (for gel) is limited but they are constantly expanding it. The only thing I do not like is that after 6:00pm it is sometimes crowded but what place isn't once people get off from work. $8 manicures are found all over NYC, and while they are rarely fabulous, they should get the job done quickly and be of solid quality. Victoria Nails failed majorly on the latter. I left with my nails filed unevenly and into different shapes (some are more square, some are round). I kept trying to point out how different the shapes were but after several nails, I just kept quiet unless it was really egregiously different. That's when I knew this was going to be crap job. Also, the technician didn't push back my cuticles before cutting them, which made the trim a little painful and uneven. Then, the color was applied lazily, as it bled into my cuticles and in plain light I see now is very uneven. Some areas are totally missed. Like I said, it's an $8 manicure; but I've got a large sample size to draw on for $8 manis in this city, and this is a total outlier for such bad work. Lastly, I was briefly confused and then annoyed when the technician tried to upsell me on...base coat. She indicated that I should decide between a "regular" base or a Seche-vite brand one. Knowing how such places work, I said no thanks, this plebeian is suited fine by the plain old base. Trying to squeeze extra money out of a brand "upgrade" for a base coat is something I've never encountered. Its lack of precedent in my experience merits mentioning, even though it was just a brief part of their mani experience. Just as I arrived, another client at the salon had cried out in pain and stated that her cuticle trim "really hurt" to her own tech. I should have taken that as a sign and fled, but I was in a rush. Victoria Nails is good for a massage, but not for the gel manicures. They have a vast selection of OPI and Shellac gel colors. If you like the regular polish, they also have a large selection of Essie as well. Their massage special ($12 for 10 minutes) is deliriously wonderful. There is a man - Joon, I think his name is - that comes around, and begins to give you a short massage as the nail technician begins to cut/file/prep your nails for the paint job. After about 2 minutes, Joon will then ask if you'd like a 10-minute massage. Smart move because I don't think anyone rejected his offer! As for my gel manicure, it started peeling and chipping within the first week, and this never happens for me. My colleague says the same thing happens to her when she goes to Victoria Nails only. I needed a place to get a pedicure done between Madison Square Park and Grand Central. Being used to paying $10 at my neighborhood l,ace in Brooklyn, I balked at the idea of laying Manhattan prices, but nor did I want to have someone do a horrible job. So I turned to Yelp and they led me here.... ...and I LOVED it! The pedicure lasted almost 45 minutes and included multiple lotion applications, massages, etc. -- much more than the 30 second foot & calf massage I was expecting. At one point she was doing so much that I was afraid she though I had asked for the spa pedicure. Nope, standard procedure. I especially liked the paraffin wax at the end. Everything was clean (individually wrapped nail kits), and my nail tech spoke nearly perfect English. Great selection of polish as well. My pedicure was $19, but if I'd had time I would have gone for the mani/pedi combo at $24. Highly recommend! read more

I had been dying to try the new OPI Axiumm gel nails and my friend recommended that I give Victoria Nails a try. I walked up to the second floor nail salon and was pleasantly surprised by the high quality work. This no frills nail salon is great. The woman who painted my nails did a wonderful job applying the gel process. The best part about the gel was the price, $25, because I have seen this process advertised for upwards of $50 in other places. I got the manicure last week and there are no chips. So just an update for ya. The gel's held up surprisingly well. They didn't even look close to chipping at 12 days and I couldn't have been happier. Until I wanted a color change. Victoria Nails was closed during that freak blizzard so I ended up having to get them done in Miami (I went to MIA on vacation in the middle of that blizzard which was why i couldn't wait for them to open). It took the girl at the salon over an HOUR to get the gel off my nails because it turns out that the nail tech's at Victoria Nails put CRAZY GLUE on my nails before they apply the gel! Big no no!!! That'll damage the hell out of your nails so if you catch them doing that tell them to stop! Also, after comparing my Victoria gel's to the Miami salon's gel's I realized that they put way too much gel on at Victoria Nails. It looked like i had acrylic tips on, not a thin manicure which is the reason I got this gel in the first place. I think i'm over this OPI Axxium because it's a pain in the butt and i'm kind of annoyed that i've been shelling out money for crap nails but i've got one more place to try in Manhattan. Bottom line though, you really do get what you pay for. read more

CHEAP, FAST walk in service with a nicey massage - i was too lazy to go all the way to Williamsburg for Primp and Polish (as recommended by a friend).. so i decided to stay in manhattan and find something cheap and accomodating. i walked in and out of a few cheapy salons that had only a couple options as far as gels. yelped this place and trekked over since it was nearby. - place was empty, but staff was welcoming. i am by no means a girly girl and rarely polish my nails (although i always do my toes!).. so when i heard of a polish that stays on practically forever, i had to do it. it wasnt a fancy place, but i wasnt paying $60 for a manicure down the street.. - i picked out my color (BLUE) and she started. i didn't expect a full manicure really. i didnt expect the TWO shoulder massages. since this was my first uv gel manicure, i didnt really know what to do, so we laughed and laughed everytime i did something inappropriate.. like when i placed my hand on TOP of the uv light, not IN it.. - when i walked in it seemed empty, but it really wasnt.. women who looked like they were on their lunch breaks walked in and out, in and out.. this is the local spot, apparently.. - i didnt really like the color blue, but that's not the salon's fault.. turns out there are few options as per manufacturer.. but i did find out that you can layer regular nail polish on top and remove it with non acetone remover, and the gels stay perfect.. so i put a coat of blue glitter on at home and now they are gorgeous, perfect, and invincble! i love my gels =) read more

Nothing too terrible if managed with regular buffing. When the treatment was offered I expected some serious buff work, but it didn't happen. She just put some kind of lotion on the areas I guess to soften them up and didn't really do any buffing at all and the lotion wasn't at all softening. I don't know, it depends on your taste. I was kind of disappointed. Nevertheless everything else was fine, but one could certainly find a better salon with proper service to those problem toes and at a much cheaper price. With prices sky high for pretty much everything else in NYC, I've been more than thrilled to find that you can get your nails done for cheaper in this city than most places I've lived or visited. There are cheaper places I could go to, but Victoria's Nails is my new go-to place! The staff is friendly and professional and the space and tools are clean. There's also a pretty big selection of essie and opi colors (and I even saw them dig through all of their stock to find a color a customer asked for). I always have a pleasant experience here; never feel rushed even when there is a rush (which is every time i've been there) and my manicures always last longer than most places. I don't know what the prices are, but the last time I went I think my mani was either $7 or $8. I believe they advertise mani/pedi for $23 (but don't quote me on that!). read more

2nd time here. I came for a pedicure and asked if wait was long. They said almost done but I ended up waiting 30 minutes. Then the lady doing my pedicure asked if I wanted to use the lotion so I said okay. She later charged me $10 for it. I would appreciate if you would let me know up front if it's additional. Very sneaky. I finally got out an hour an half later and when I complained that it took too long for a basic pedicure she said I should come earlier or later when they weren't so busy, all said with a smile. Victoria Nails - you have found yourself a loyal client. Between working in Murray Hill and living in Flatiron, Victoria Nails has become my little beacon of rest and relaxation. For only 7.50 you can get yourself a high end manicure or the even better value; $23 for a spa pedicure and manicure combo. After any treatment, the nail techs will bring your belongings to the drying stations and give you a little massage (bonus bonus bonus). Victoria also offers a $10 for 10 minute massage. Can be a bit awkward when you're in the midst of straddling a chair in the middle of the room while others watch/pass you by, but if you have ADD like me - it's a good way to let your nails dry fast! Overall: I don't have enough good things to say about Victoria; from the price to the technicians to the manicure/pedicures - I have never left unhappy. The mere thought or mention of another nail salon has me cringing. read more
