This is the worst quality I have ever seen in the city. I go acrylic tips with gel polish on top and literally within an hour of getting them done, the gel polish completely peeled off and the next morning it came off on another finger. I went back to get it fixed that day (which they did fix right away) but then the following morning the gel polish came off ANOTHER finger on my other hand! Wtf I can't just keep going back to the salon everyday to get it re-done! I will NEVER be going back! It cost me $85 to get my nails done that literally don't even last a day! So terrible!

Loved my gel manicure by Marisela! Mon-Wed specials are great. This will be easily become my new nail spot.

Always beautiful work. Always a warm and positive attitude. I highly recommend the ladies at Bijou!

I got a gel manicure on Thursday and by Saturday one nail had already peeled and another nail is almost there. It's way too expensive to have it last for such a short time. This is my friend's regular place but she usually gets a normal manicure. Such a bummer. Update: more nails have peeled - didn't even last a week! Worst gel manicure I've ever had.

BEST nails I have ever gotten! I got the Hailey Bieber tik tok famous nails right before I got engaged and I am so in love with how they came out. I didn't even need to explain anything- the ladies knew exactly what to do based off of the picture and did an impeccable job. The price was reasonable too. Great service and just overall so happy with the quality of my nails. Highly recommend!! Thank you- I will be back!

My French nail manicure came off after just 3 days and this was the second time this happened. It was very frustrating because I was on vacation with my boyfriend and because it cost me $40. This was the last time I've decided to give them a chance! Not coming back here!

Flip flops on sale $3! So it's ok if you didn't wear pedicure-friendly shoes that day :)

First time here- overall impression is that of a functional nail salon. No frills, but they try to do a few extra things here and there. For example, today my pedicure bath included 2 lemon slices which were used as part of the exfoliation and cleansing. Very refreshing for summertime. Good selection of Essie nail polish. No wait time today. Noticed a fairly decent turnover. The space is slightly cramped, but still decent. The music is good- soft and relaxing. A few Norah Jones tracks were in the mix today. You can add an additional 10 mins of massage for $9 during your pedicure. And if you want a quick dry top coat that is an additional $1. Be careful when they ask you if you want something more since these can add up quick if you unwittingly agree. I especially enjoyed that they used paraffin wax for the heels during the pedicure. Pro tip-- pay cash and they won't charge you tax. Good for saving some $.

    Fantastic Powder Gel!

Just moved to UWS recently and discovered this cute nail place! This is a small salon, but it's a really clean and cozy place. I got a regular pedi and a powder gel manicure and they really took good care of me. Price is super reasonable compared to other places around the neighborhood. As you all know, UWS is not a cheap neighborhood... My powder gel mani is over two weeks old and it's still shiny and no chips so far! Definitely will be coming back!

Bruise 24 days after a powder gel manicure

I went here on December 4th for powder gel nails. I've had powder gels at other salons and never had issues. This physically hurt...bad. The lady was rushing and pressing way too hard on my nails and I kept saying ouch and moving my hand away. I asked her to please be more gentle and she kept rushing. When I got home all of my fingertips were literally in pain and it hurt trying to write, type or eat for several days. I had to have my husband open a can of soda for me the next day because it hurt so bad. Well today is December 28th and after the gel coming off, you can see visible bruises... 24 days later!!! I can't imagine what they would have looked like right after the manicure. I wish I knew which lady this was because this is dangerous

Mani-pedis are $32 as part of a special, MONDAY through WEDNESDAY only. Pedicure includes a short foot scrub and complimentary paraffin heel wrap. They add fresh lemon slices into the pedicure bath, which makes it smell nice and look pretty. Quick dry top coat is a dollar extra though, no biggie. You get a 5% discount if you pay in cash but they do accept credit/debit card for a $20 minimum. The atmosphere is calm and serene with low music playing in the background. The nail techs are all seemingly nice and accommodating, and one of the Korean ladies, her nametag said Sarah, did my nails, was very good, she helped file away old acrylic that were stubbornly stuck on two of my fingernails. A+ for her noticing it before I had a chance to tell her! She also put saran wrap on my feet to prevent them from getting ruined because I was wearing boots. The woes of getting pedicures done in the winter. They offer massages and waxing, and they are fairly priced in my opinion. For the service and atmosphere, I think it's competitively priced, just pay attention to possible extra charges like you should do with all places to begin with. Despite their job as nail-techs they also have to upsell their other services to you, so if you want just a manicure, then say no to any other offers. Don't mistake their offer as a freebie, because it is not unless the word free is included in the sentence. I've come here pretty often, and my most recent trip had me irritated. Thursday midday and walking in there are 4 other women ahead of me, and as I was seated, it just kept getting crowded with more women walking in. It gets very cramped and claustrophobic when there are so many people in the shop. Especially at the drying station. At one point, every nail tech including the head woman in charge was at a manicure or pedicure station. I was just irritated with how you get rushed when a new person walks through the door. I appreciate how they try to be accommodating, but as a customer, if you see its busy when you walk in, I'm pretty sure you know you're going to have to wait awhile. Seeing them rush with each person, including myself, I could see the annoyance building up with one woman who sat next to me at the drying station even though it was a tight squeeze and became uncomfortable. Just hoping that Bijou remembers Quality over quantity!

They have decent selection of both Essie and Opit nail polish and they helped me pick a color (which came out great).

It truly creates a relaxing atmosphere. However, I've noticed that the quality of the mani & pedi has declined over the years, which has made me hesitant to return, even though it's in the most convenient location for me. These days when I returned, it's just for last minute color change to avoid more damage. I referred a friend to join me for a mani/pedi once, and she also mentioned that while the ambiance is great, but the owners should get their own mani & pedi done by their technicians, which I completely agree with. While I usually don't like getting my cuticles pushed or cut, I really appreciate that they respected that preference. However, when it comes to removing polish, it's done very recklessly with a lack of attention to detail. On several occasions, they've scraped the skin around the nails--sometimes cutting it to the point where it bled and required a bandage. When I mentioned this to the hostess after she asked for feedback, she dismissed it by saying I have sensitive skin. Since when is it normal for skin to be scraped during a mani/pedi? Additionally, I've had gel mani here twice in a row, and the technician over-shaved to the point where my nails ended up paper-thin that I have to ask the technician to apply extra coats to make up for it. One time, the technician even touched my skin with the machine that is used to shave the gel polish off. I've also had my skin scraped during pedicures, which is concerning. Every time I get a gel mani, within two weeks, the polish would start to lift on the cuticle side, which shows a lack of precision during the application. My friend got a regular mani & pedi here, and one of her nails chipped within a day. While I still love the atmosphere and the owners, the decline in the quality of the services, especially regarding polish removal, nail care, and attention to detail, has made me hesitant on coming back.

The interior design of the space is what pulled my attention when walking up 9th Ave. It is chic yet accessible and never approaches being or feeling gaudy. Very clean look (and space). Great color palate used. Very comfortable chairs. Good use of white space accentuated with green angular paint and golden decals and other ornamentations, all done minimally and with purposeful placement. Carmen (my nail tech) made good efforts and took obvious care to give me a nice buff manicure, all for only $27 (+ a small amount of tax). No nips or cuts. No pain. Textbook technique. Picked up well on when I wanted to zen out to the aura of the space and the well-curated spa playlist vs when I was open to a little nail tech kiki. Loved the sugar scrub they use for the hand massage. I take ownership for not getting the pre-cuticle work nail soak as part of the provided service. IMO, if a nail salon doesn't automatically incorporate the soak into your mani, you as the customer should speak up when the softening gel is pulled out and before it is applied. If they don't offer it? That's another thing. But I didn't test those waters and cannot speak to Nail Me Right (goodness gravy I love the business name!). So, keep in mind if the soak is your thing. They were very accommodating from the moment I arrived until I left. So I have a hunch this request wouldn't be a problem. Same with the end result. You as the customer are responsible for checking your nails / hands / feet / whatever before ending the appointment. I was late for my next appointment and did not, later seeing I would've like a little extra work done where the far end of nail edges meets the finger and a shinier buff applied. Again, I am quite sure Carmen would have accommodated had I done my part and spoken up before leaving. Still, I woke up the next morning to those slight extra bits naturally working themselves out (which points to the moisturizing measures NMR applies being of good quality), and my hand looking nice. I plan to pop in next time I'm in the area and in the market for some nail / hand / foot love, and hope you'll consider doing the same to support this family and what they're working to bring to the neighborhood.
