I stopped by here after shopping a few different bike shops in the East Bay Area. I ended up buying my road bike here (which I am absolutely in love with). The moment my friend and I stepped in Vic greeted us and asked us what he can do to help me. Vic and I exchanged a few words about my needs and what I am looking to get and right away he managed to land me on a great bike. I took the bike for a ride around the block. Since I am a noob at biking I thought there was something wrong with the bike which I told Vic about. Instantly he got it fixed. We talked about pricing and he took care of me on that end. What really impressed me with Vic is his honesty. You can just tell right away that he is a genuine guy. I first heard about when I asked a guy on bart about his cool frame and tires. I asked him where he got it and he told me from Vic. I was like who??? Come to find out, he pulls out his phone and checks on yelp and I saw who Vic was. Prior to coming over, I had call him over the phone to make sure I could stop by since my time is very limited due to my schedule. He informed me that he is flexible and we set up a time. When I came by, he had a few customers there and he def took me into consideration knowing he was dividing his time equally. Once he free up, he made some suggestions on bikes. Now keep in mind, I havent rode since my early childhood but now need it since my son wants to ride as well. I chose a bike which was good for my height, I didnt have the money up front and Vic was able to work with me. Amazing service, called for same day service and waited less than 10 minutes for them to fix front tire flat, it was only $15!!! this will be my new go to bike repair shop! WAAAAY better than Cyclepath bike shop in Hayward which charges $25 service on top of any repair...seriously... I got bikes at garage sale few weeks ago. It need minor repair and I brought to this shop. Owner was very honest and point out what I really need and gave estimate which is VERY reasonable price to me. I was expected to took at least 3 to 4 days. (That what I was experienced at other bike shop.) But it took only one day and bike is in perfect condition! (He call me very next day that my bike is ready to pick up.) Truly one of the nicest shop owners I have ever met. Very modest and helpful. I went in looking for a new front bike light. He asked me what my budget was and even though he didn't have an individual one for that price, he found one for me that was originally part of a set. When I paid him, he threw in a cheaper emergency headlight for free--for you know, the next time someone steals my front bike light : P While I was there, he also entertained my various questions about baskets and racks, giving me pretty reasonable quotes. Nice little neighborhood bike shop in the Dro. Vic seems pretty cool and chill and knows his bikes. Tons of bike accessories and bikes for sale. The cost to get your tire patched up/fixed is at least 75% cheaper than most bike shops. The previous review I had up on here, I had to delete because it was wrong for me to blame Vic's Bikes on the new issues of my bike when they had nothing to do with it. I took the bike back earlier this week and him and his staff were able to seek other problems with the bike and instead of fixing it without me knowing, they gave me a call to inform me of the new bike problems and gave me a super fresh rate to get it fixed. Vic is really cool and even when I did blame him when I shouldn't have, he remained calm and told me it wasn't his wrong doing, so with that..thank you Vic. This is what happens when you buy a bike off Craigslist, you find out about unknown problems/issues of whatever you bout thats being looked at by a professional...a professional like Vic and Vic's Bikes! read more

Mucho big ups to Vic!!! I always come to him when I need some repairs or modifications. He'll rig up anything with 2 wheels and no motor. I've never seen a bike he couldn't repair. And if you ever need quality new and used parts for cheap, he's got that on lock. Such a stand up guy. His shop is always open to all the lil hipster youth so they can tune their fix'iez. Vic is a very friendly guy. When we needed bikes for cruising around San Leandro, we came here. It took as a while to decide, since Vic has a lot of (Frankenstein - or so we like to call them, since they are different bikes assembled together) bikes inside and in front of the store, but can also get you something of your own choosing (you tell him, what exactly you want on a bike, and he'll assemble it for you). My used bike was not all that cheap, but the service outweighed the high(er) price. He is also my to-go place if I get a flat tire or any other bike problem. read more

I was riding my bike, and suddenly it looked like the rear gears tore the chain off. I tried putting the chain back on and it came right back off. I took it to Vics, and left it there, thinking I would be having to replace the gears. Later that day, he called. He's inspected the gears and told me it was a link on the chain that was bent. He replaced the chain, and checked it again. I got my bike back in a day or 2 and it's been great since. That was a couple months ago. Old timer, knows his bikes for sure! He was honest and straight forward. He and his wife were both in the shop, look like sweet folks! This little shop had what I needed and didn't overcharge for the part. I got a used bike yesterday, it needs a couple of parts, some TLC and a good cleaning. so I go online to find a shop close to work I can go to on break. I find Vic's Bikes right down the street from work. next thing I know, I have my part and I'm back at work, 15 Minutes tops!!! What a wonderful experience walking into Vic's. I had never walked into a bike shop before in my life. Vic's bikes offers a family friendly environment. Keep in mind you won't get a nice and tidy shop like you would get in a much bigger bike shop. What you will get is professionalism at its finest. Now as for my reason for going into Vic's. I needed to get a new left crank arm for my road bike. He took out a couple of option for me to choose. Once I chose, he charged me $25 parts and labor to get it fixed, and another $20 to get my rear derailleur adjusted. In conclusion, I would recommend Vic's Bikes to anyone who needs anything done on their bike. They are a reasonably priced shop (us broke collage students will appreciate this). Vic's Bikes is not a big corporate bike shop, what you lack in size, you gain in a more personalized and friendly experience. Victor.. he's a cool guy.. caught him as he was coming back from lunch. Opened up his shop not too long ago, and it looks like he's doing well. He knows his bikes AND everything is affordable (comparing it to other bike shops and online for parts). I recently brought a bike here that needed some TLC before I could give it to my friend. At Robinson Wheel Works I got quoted $300+ bucks after they tried to upsell me on other things that the bike didn't really need, and all I was asking for was for a basic tune and a part replacement. So, I decided to bring the bike here for a quote. Vic is a very honest and generous dude. He quoted me $65 bucks for exactly what I was asking, plus he advised that I purchase a part that I needed off of Ebay to save some money instead of having him order it for me. $65 bucks later and the bike was rideable again. Bring your bikes here if you want a fair price. For a dh fork rebuild or something technical I would probably take it to a different shop that specializes in those types of things, but for anything else, like a simple tune or repair, you should totally bring your bike to Vic's. read more

I was looking for a bike to purchase and decided to visit Vic's after reading all the good reviews on Yelp. First impression: A small shop with a true "neighborhood" bike shop feel to it, like ones I grew up seeing around my child neighborhood (in Brazil). Vic, the owner, was in another corner of the shop behind the counter working on a bike and immediately greeted me when I walked in. I told him I was looking for a bike and asked me if I knew what type. My two options were road or commuter, and he happened to have a used road bike in excellent condition for sale. He let me take it out for a spin, and based on the great reviews I had the confidence of purchasing it right then! He took it for a ride to make sure it rode smoothly, then took it behind the counter to check the gears, among other things. He was polite and even gave me my first tune up for free! The price was very low for that bike (I looked it up online and saw that it usually sells for 3 times the price he quoted me). Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and I've found THE shop to go to when I need parts or repairs. It is, it seems, more of a shop than a store, though they do sell parts there. The only reason I'm giving Vic's BIkes 4 stars is because I'm not all that familiar with the shop and its services. I hope to write another review later on. read more

Vic is the real deal! Very dedicated to his work, very respectful, great service and friendly. Tune up is definitely affordable. Every time I need a quick fix, tune up or parts, Vic's always the first place I come to. I rather go to a pop shop/local shop instead of those big, fancy, I'm going to overcharge you bike shops. Read the good reviews, decided to check it out. They tried to sell me a used bike for $700. It retails for $570 brand new. The only thing that didn't look stock was the seat, so unless it was a $125 seat then they were playing me for a dumb girl. What a waste of my time! Response to comment from Owner: I think the issue here is that I am not an avid biker and need a shop that has time to spend one-on-one with me to help me select the right bike. By far the best bike shop in the bay area. And the most honest and generous shop owner you will ever meet. I have made 4 visits to his shop for repairs and tune ups on various of my bikes, and In one of the occasions I didn't have enough cash to cover the total amount (which for sure is the best price in the area for any repair or maintenance you might need )... He said it was okay to just pay him next time! But I ended up finding the extra cash I needed in my car luckily lol. But anyways he always leaves my bikes feeling like new every time. Highly recommended shop, even if your not from the area I would make the drive to come out to San Leandro for the best service you can get from a bike shop. FIVE STARS!
