Everyone been telling me to come here and try out the food and the drink. I came here for a girls night. Super unique and chill place. It's at the corner and there is a pay parking garage or street parking if it's not too busy. Dinner time and weekends can def get really busy. The waiter we had was super friendly and gave some great recommendations. I got the strawberry margarita and I actually really like it. I'm normally not a margarita type of person but this one is sweet with a frozen strawberry ice cube. One of my friend really likes the mule. The price for the food was a little pricey but worth a try. I got the sweet and spicy cauliflower and the steak fired sandwich with truffle fries. The cauliflower was amazing and delicious! The steak sandwich was good and it's a big portion which also came with a ton of fries. Great place to have dinner with friends! read more

First off - yes I would come back. Great place in downtown Buffalo. Seems like it draws a lively young crowd. Bar windows open up looking right outside street side. Definitely a kicking atmosphere. Nice choices on menu. Seafood, burgers, pizza, tacos - lots of small plates. We had seared ahi tuna, crispy Brussels & pork tacos. My wife loved the tuna. The Brussels were shaved & crispy - a bit difficult to eat with a fork. Prob better to just scoop with hands! Pork tacos were the bomb. Very delicious & filling. I could only eat one full one & then shared the guts of a 2nd with my wife. She used the tortilla to finish off the crispy Brussels. Shamefully we left the 3rd taco. Amazing restaurant! Its a great addition to the area (i'm not sure if its new or not) Super huge and spacious location, so people aren't on top of each other. I went around 3-5 on a Sunday and it wasn't crowded at all. They play good music, and its a cool vibe all around. They even have a little balcony area on the second floor. I definitely recommend their meatball appetizer. I have never had meatballs served like this. It was super unique and delicious. Brunch was pretty good, but the service was amazing! Went for late lunch on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised. All the booths were occupied, one or two with birthday/ bachelorette parties, plenty of room for us. Started with the bourbon meatballs - they were okay but overcooked and a little dry. Also tried the blackened mahi-mahi with Brussels and cauliflower. Fish was good, the veggies were barely cooked and bland. We also had the scallops and pork and found the veggies to be the same. Our server Diana was really kind, checked back frequently. The host needs to be more helpful and knowledgeable about parties arriving separately and walking people to tables. He also had no idea how to direct us to the parking garage. The managers on duty each came over to check on us which was great but one made a gross comment about wishing he could sit with us and if he could he would pay for the meal. Super Inappropriate and I hope he felt that in my response. Seems like the right choices for food are appetizers and the pizzas for now. Good drink selection. Overall this place has potential because the space is really nice but the staff seems incredibly inexperienced for the price point and vibe, hopefully it just needs time. The atmosphere is minimalist industrial, clean, and well lit with Edison light bulbs. Brian, a manager, actively managed the room and was attentive to us. He was professional and vibrant. Carla C was our server and was actively training a fellow employee. She was effervescent and professional and knew the menu to offer educated opinions. It was recommended we get the chicken wings crispy, and they didn't disappoint. The garlic parmesan and Buffalo styles were fabulous with the side of bleu cheese. The bourbon butter BBQ chicken pizza was tasty. The prosciutto and sweet pear was excellent. Both were baked well with a crispy cornmeal dusted crust. The peanut butter pie with dark ganache was the perfect ending to the meal. We have takeout for tomorrow's dinner. read more

I almost want to give this place a 3.5 stars. I first waited at the door for 15 minutes before someone came to help me. The menu looks really great and the pictures online do too so I tried the Brussels and the Ruben pizza. I also ordered a signature drink vice mule. The drink didn't taste like there was anything booze in it at all. The Brussels I thought were the best thing, they were like crunchy sweet and savory. The pizza was too greasy or too much dressing, not enough Krout. I would like to go back to try an entree give it a second shot. read more

It's about time a restaurant and bar like Vice opened in the downtown area. Buffalo seriously lacks upscale whiskey bars like Vice. It turns out the restaurant Neat has the same owner, so it is owned by someone with experience in the restaurant business. For a slightly higher cost, you get to enjoy a fun night out with a group of friends over delicious food and a wide variety of drinks, all of which are high quality. This is also a fantastic date spot if you are trying to impress and show him/her a great time. The restaurant is located in the 500 Pearl building - you can access it through the Aloft Hotel lobby or directly from Franklin Street. They have adequate seating at the bar and there are many large booths available as well, which is great if you have a party of more than 4 people. I loved the ambience - the atmosphere is quite vibrant throughout the large space regardless of where you sit. Even when the restaurant is full, you can still hear the people in your party without difficulty. I loved observing the bar, which has shelves that are full of top-shelf liquor. There are garage doors just behind the bar along Franklin Street, which they plan to open during the summer months - what a great place to spend an early evening! Let's talk about the drink menu menu. It is quite extensive with a variety of wines and liquors. They of course have a plentiful amount of whiskey and bourbon to choose from. They also make their own cocktails - my friend ordered the Vice Mule, which is actually tequila based and he loved it. I had the Old Fashion which they made with Three Chord Bourbon - it was delicious and I barely tasted the alcohol! Meanwhile, another friend had Blue Moon while his date had EBC Blueberry Wheat. None of us ordered wine but I was impressed with the options. Of note, I'm not sure if I'm 100% correct, but they mentioned how for a monthly fee you can bring your own alcohol which they will then serve to you while you dine with them (it is essentially free bottle service with your own drink). They store your alcohol in a locker once you leave. I suppose it is worth the price if you plan on going there on a weekly basis and only purchase top-shelf drinks. The dinner menu also has plentiful options. I skipped the appetizer this time since I had lunch, however my friend ordered the wood fired meatballs appetizer which was quite delicious and could honestly be a meal in itself. A friend ordered the Baja Fish tacos which he enjoyed, however it was a bit small. I had the Norwegian Cod Piccata - the fish was delicious and I also loved the cauliflower rice medley that came with it. The only critique I have is that I wish the meal was a tad larger. Then again, had I ordered an appetizer, perhaps that would not have been an issue. I guess worst case scenario is that you take your leftovers home if you have an app! Meanwhile, the pizza menu looks absolutely outstanding and I regret not trying it! It would probably be great to split with someone too. Lastly, the assistant general manager was quite present and introduced herself to my table to make sure we were being well taken care of. Our waitress did a fantastic job taking care of us. I can tell the restaurant is ran like a well-oiled machine! I encourage all of you to dress up and visit Vice with a group of friends or a significant other. You will enjoy the atmosphere and the amazing food and drinks they have to offer! read more

The second time I went, service was much better, but the food was sub-par. Great flavors, but it seemed as though the food was sitting a while before it got to the table. Overall, super cool vibe inside and can't wait to go back when it is warmer and they have the windowed garage doors open to enjoy the fresh air. I really enjoyed this restaurant. It's super annoying that they don't take reservations because it's quite popular and was packed the day we went. We received a $50 gift card as apart of the perks with booking a stay. It was what of prompted me to give it a try. It's nice to have an on site restaurant at the hotel. We went down for dinner on a Friday at 7pm and we're told we could get the high top chairs or have a half hour wait for a table. We decided to wait. They took my number and said they would text me. It was more than a half hour but it was OK because we got to check out the bar across the way called WXYZ. It wasn't for me but whatever! When they text us we were seated quickly on the main floor. There were several busy tables but they were all spaced out appropriately. Our server Nicholas was amazing. A real legend!! He was working the room, bouncing from one table to the next, hyping up one Birthday girl to the next and even cracked jokes at our table. A real people person who didn't let the stress of a busy night flustered him. A+++ For starters we got the corn fritters and arancini balls. They were good. They came out hot and fast. I'm sure they were frozen or pre-made because it was almost too quick but enjoyable nonetheless. I ordered the ricotta pesto (added sausage) and my boyfriend ordered the blackened Mahi Mahi. It was good. I enjoyed the pizza but next time I would try something else. My boyfriend loved his dinner. He really liked the way it was seasoned. A bit too salty for both if us (which is saying a lot if my bf says something is salty because he loves salty). But overall it was good. The fish came with Brussel sprouts that were a bit under done but they had good flavor. At the end of the meal I told Nicholas it was my boyfriends birthday and he did not miss a beat. After wrapping up one table's celebration he disappeared and came our way with a little candle in the salted caramel chocolate cookie sundae. He didn't sing happy birthday but the energy was amazing. I asked to do a shot and Nicholas slyly suggested a "sultry" the he gave a alias name to. A shot that shall go unnamed and my bf was all for it. So he brought them over and took a video for us. It was so great. My bf had to take the shot with no hands and he did a great job. In the end the food was ok but if you eat to have a super fun night out and have a few drinks with your friends this is a nice eace to go. The people are wonderful and the service was fast. We were seated in a part of the restaurant where it looked like an extension and apart from the rest of the place and not as cool. Drinks: They have a nice variety of whiskeys but their specialty is on the bourbon side. $13 for a cocktail and $16 for a double Basil Hayden's seem fair to me for a downtown location. They don't have much other cocktail options if you don't like whiskey. Lucky for me, I do! Appetizers: We had the "Award winning" braised short rib soup. First spoonful, AMAZING! Deep, complex, rich and unctuous. After second and third, it becomes overly salty! So, underwhelming. We also tried the brussel sprouts with bacon, it was a little bit disappointing, because it tasted burnt. Main: We had the bourbon burger and the pear and prosciutto pizza. The burger was dry. Disappointing. I was surprised when our server (who was really nice by the way) did not ask us about out preferred cook level for the patties. I enjoy the flavor combination of sweet and savory but the pizza was overly on the sweet side. So I personally did not enjoy it much. Made reservation prior to a shea's performance. It was the first time trying Vice, and probably the last. My friend & i ordered the Brisket soup to which was warm at best. My crock had ONE piece of Brisket in it! They did replace my friends crock with a hotter crock. i chose not to take up the offer of a replacement. (How hard is it to serve a crock of hot soup!!!) the ladies had a Burrata Salad & a crock of French Onion to which were OK, nothing special. My friend and I sheared an order of Bang Bang Shrimp. Now I've had BBS all over the USA, I've never had it were as its coated in Italian seasoned bread crumbs and a little drizzle of a spicy sauce. It was horrible & so disappointing. The place was very cold & way to noisy to enjoy an evening. The table to our right was less than 2' away thus cross conversation was annoying. Cool place with a good vibe. It is loud though so wouldn't recommend it for a romantic night out, but it is really great for hanging out with a group of friends. We were a group of 6 and had reservations and we were seated almost immediately but the section of the restaurant where they seated us was super boring. It seemed like it had been added to the main section after the whole thing was built. It just didn't go with the rest of the place. For drinks, I got the mule which was good. Appetizers: The Brussels Sprouts which tasted burnt and their "award winning " braised short rib soup which was tasty but unfortunately way too salty to enjoy. Main Course: I shared a Bourbon Burger and a Prosciutto and pear pizza and disliked both. The burger was below average and very dry. The pizza was way way too sweet. I had had sweet combinations with prosciutto on my pizza before (like prosciutto and fig pizza) and the right way to make it is that the sweet and salty should balance each other out not feel like you're eating a spoonful of honey with each bite. All in all, cool place for a drink and hang out, maybe go there to meet people but I wouldn't go there for their food. read more

AVOID!!! Pure trash. They charge an automatic 20% gratuity even if you're a party of 1 at the bar! The food is mediocre at best. Service and ambiance is subpar and they do not verbally disclose the automatic gratuity fee and expect you to read fine print on the menu when you're distracted by the food and drink items. Shady business. Shady management. Shady servers who make you feel stupid for asking a simple question as to why you're getting an auto 20% fee for dining by yourself at the bar. Was in the mood for something sweet and visually appealing, told this to our server, and she definitely delivered with a recommendation. The adios pantelones drink not only had a hilarious name, but I had a sugared rim and a beautiful strawberry containing ice cube. It was one of the best cocktails I've ever had, would definitely recommend and will be coming back! I feel as if Vice's atmosphere tries too hard to be "cool" and "trendy". The bar staff was standoff-ish, and drinks expensive, and the tables are SO packed together to the point where staff and customers kept having to brush past our chairs and hit our table too. But what really got me was the "steak" pizza... it was literal steak-ums on the pizza. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't $5 steak-ums. Overall, overpriced and lack-luster.
