Mussels. 15/10 had them both times and they were great. I love bonefish mussels so much and it's hard to beat them, but their broth can be heavy and rich which can overpower the mussels. Via Roma does them right. Perfect blend of white wine, lemon and garlic. They are perfectly tender and not chewy. Branzino. 1000/10. If i could eat this everyday, i would. Two delicate yet hearty sea bass filets atop perfectly crispy julienne vegetables. This is one of my favorite dishes in all of charlotte to eat. It's clean, healthy, lightly seasoned yet hearty, full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Two big fish filets on a large portion of veggies. I couldn't think of a way to make this better if i tried. And i can't order anything else here because i love it and feel great after eating it. Just so happy to have a healthy, hearty, filling and absolutely delicious option when dining fine! My friend got the jumbo shrimp and scallop risotto. He is one of the pickiest people I've ever met. I didn't try it myself but he gave it rave reviews and he ate every bite so i can only imagine it was also perfect. Bread pudding 3/10 ehhh. Heavy and dense, not like moms. I wouldn't get it again but it wasn't bad. Crème brûlée 100/10 if you like crème brûlée this is the one for you. Perfect crust. Berries and crème. read more

First time for Queens Fest. I feel most restaurants play it safe and the select menu is usually 'boring' but via Roma was everything but. The portion size were generous, selection featured your more costly dishing and it taste great. The service was top notch as well. We had the pasta capellini 5/5 loaded with shrimp crab and lobster and the scallop risotto 5/5 with large scallops and creamy risotto. For starters we had the seafood salad 4/5 again loaded with fresh seafood and the sausage 5/5 was very tasty. For dessert the limoncello and chocolate cake was great. We stopped in for dessert and cocktails and sat in the bar. The espresso martinis were over $20 which seemed very high and the bartender openly complained about the possibility that we were ordering food, and it was only 8pm! I'm not impressed by the prices or service but the martinis and creme brûlée were tasty at least! read more

Via Roma was perfect for my hubby's birthday celebration. It was almost after 4 years that we visited this restaurant again and we loved it. Food was delicious. We ordered bruschetta for appetizer, kids portion of chicken Parmesan, penne with chicken and mixed seafood pasta. Everything came out perfectly. I got my Seafood pasta in garlic sauce, it was delicious and seafood was fresh and tender. I loved how calamari was in my pasta - not overly chewy at all. Chicken in both my husbands and kids meal was cooked perfectly and was flavorful. Our server was wonderful and surprised us with a cake to celebrate the birthday. Such a sweet gesture. read more

This place is great! It is a small restaurant, but for me that means it is more intimate. The service is always top notch and the people are friendly! The food, as at any Conte restaurant, is incredible! I went and got their gnocchi which was light and fluffy with a vodka sauce and TONS of fresh mozzerrella cheese. Their tiramisu is also probably the best in the city! You must try it. Parking can be a challenge, my recommendation is just to park in the parking deck and walk. It's about 5 minutes, but the parking deck is free too. read more

The most tender steak I've had in awhile. Let me go back to the beginning. We had such a fantastic waitress (Amy). She was super helpful and attentive but not hovering. Support staff was great too. Our table got crumbed! You know the little crumb tool to clean up your mess. I hardly ever see that in Charlotte. What a very nice touch. Ok back to the food. Via Roma is not for me. It's not worth my money and time. I was excited to try the Mare; the presentation appeared well. But, alas, it was too salty, and the squid rings and shrimp were overcooked and tasted rubbery. My husband's pollo parmigiana was soggy, and the cheese was partially melted. The inside of the restaurant's acoustics is poor, making the sound of table conversations amplified and loud. As for service, it was lacking. It took over 10 min for someone to take our order, and as we ate, no one even came at all to check and refill our drinks. As I observed, the staff were focused and distracted by the larger parties. We decided to come here on a whim for an improptu date night and the food was good. They gave us bread and beans, but I wasn't a fan of the bread on its own. With the beans it was great, but without, the bread had no flavor. We started with caprese and it was really good. The mozzarella was so fresh however, it came with arugula instead of basil, which was good, but I prefer caprese with basil. My entree was gigli. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The flavors went together but it lacked and little bit of... punch in the flavor department. Nonetheless, the portion of pasta to shrimp and vegetables was really good. I feel like a lot of times when you order a pasta dish it's like 90% pasta with only 10% of any of the extras, and this was not the case here. My hubby had pollo alla parmigiana with a side of pasta and it tasted amazing! If I came back here I'd probably switch my order to this because it was bursting with flavor. The first thing they asked us when we walked in was if we had a reservation, which, we didn't. We came early enough that there was space at the bar and the high tops that were near and that's where they directed us to. I was actually happy about that because this is a nice restaurant with table clothes and a fancy vibe, and we were not totally dressed for that. Either way, overall, dinner was good. read more

Amazing service that's hard to come by in this area. The food was so flavorful! The Mare was full of delicious seafood. Our 13 year old said the meatballs were the best she's ever had. Lasagna, chicken Parmesan and the tagliatelle were all hits with the family. And I can't stop thinking about the tiramisu! We had quite the sampling of food - and all was absolutely wonderful! We started with a Burrata and Bruschetta at our table for four. Each of us enjoyed our be very filling pasta entrees following - especially my choice of a braised beef speciality pasta that evening. We didn't have a reservation and was sat at a table oddly positioned near a kiosk and in eye shot of the bathroom. The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived for dinner just before 6 but did fill up with larger parties and reservations throughout our time there. I can't believe this amazing gem is close by to me and only realized it recently! Arrived with no reservations on a Friday at 5, opening time, with my husband! We were fortunate to get a bar seat! This place did not disappoint! My martini was PERFECT! Anisha was a wonderful bartender and made our first visit extra special! Terrific, friendly service! I learned that she has been there for years and I love to hear that because I assume the place must have great management...it shows! I am staying at the nearby Hilton Garden Inn and decided to try this restaurant based on reviews and pictures. I was very disappointed. I ordered a Caesar salad and veal marsala. The salad was super spicey and had too much pepper. This is very unusual. The Veal Marsala had very little taste. This was the worst marsala sauce that i ever had. I ordered take out - no utensils and asked for no bread - I got pieces where in the past - even when I said no bread - I got a fresh half loaf - I take to office - not tomorrow - trash. We were welcomed by friendly server but I would only give 4 out of 5 for the service - they were somehow rushing us (maybe want to be ready for the next round of guests?) which made us feel a little uncomfortable. Was there Saturday night to celebrate my fiancé's birthday and the Food was horrible! the tagliatelle I ordered taste like dog food, the beef was not seasoned and the maitre d was very confrontational because I sent the dish back. The mare dish was over salted and chicken Alfredo was the worst. I've been a chef for 33yrs and have never been treated so disrespectful, the chicken Marsala was even worse. Despite spending over $700 for crappy food the manager was rushing us to finish and leave because he wanted to seat another group of people, I will NEVER EVER Eat there again and I will never recommend it to anyone!!!!! read more

After loving this place the first time and wanting to come back here, I decided to take my family here for my birthday and it tanked and here is why. They asked me how I'd like my meat and when it was served it was way over cooked so my family ate without me and I had to wait to get what I asked for. This time it was done ok. But my family wanted to leave and o was still eating. This could have been easily rectified with an " I'm sorry a drink is on me or a dessert is on me., whatever: just an acknowledgment of how you screwed up my birthday dinner. But nothing. It seems the quality of food has changed. Has it? Is it management too? The sauce with tomatoes was fresh, which now seems to be canned and lacks the homemade taste it once did, and is quite salty. Of the dishes we get, which is 4-6 different ones, all of them seem to have changed. Dishes also lack consistency. For example, the apps are given in different amounts (one instead of the two we usually get and then back to two), the extra beans do not always come with the extra bread. read more
