I been coming here for years! Via-mar is great happy hour spot! The drinks are delicious especially the margaritas. They have a wide selection of margaritas under 5bucks! The happy hour is from 4-7 every day and they offer free chips and salsa alongside with bean dip!! (Heaven) The outside karaoke is really popular and fun. Whether alone or with a big group you'll have a good time. I'm a sucker for enchiladas and I have to say I absolutely love getting their enchiladas! They are so mouth watering and cheesy! So this time around I am giving Via-Mar three stars. The service was great. The location was clean. There was no contactless menus. The drinks were good. I had the piña colada's and I must say that the alcohol ratio was good. Not too weak not too strong. The food, I was not very impressed with. Had the jaiva enchiladas and definitely a must pass. Do not recommend this dish to anyone. I had it with the red sauce which had a good taste. The problem was that with every bite all I could taste was nothing but onion. It had large pieces of raw onion. So much onion that there was no jaiva taste whatsoever. I like onion as much as the next person. If called for, yes mixed in my food but in reasonable amounts. I even tried picking some out to see if that would help but not possible. All I can say is that next time I'll be trying something different and that the jaiva enchiladas are being crossed off with a thick, black permanent marker. read more

We decided to visit Via Mar on a Friday. Having been here before, we brought another couple as we raved over the delicious beans that were served along with the chips and salsa. We were greeted by a very nice server named Maria with curly dark blue hair and a friendly smile. She was a good listener, very attentive and knowledgeable about their menu. There was music playing and we were surrounded by TV's playing, Baseball, Soccer and UFC fights... A little something for everyone. Been here a few times and they have a really good happy hour. But the service is very inconsistent. First time we came it was great fast and on point. Second time we couldn't get our server to even look at us and we were at the bar lol. But overall the food is really good and it's always busy which is cool. They used to have the best Happy Hour in all SGV and the mariscos were delicious. We had not been here for a long time, and sadly, it's not the same. HH changed, restaurant smells, and the restrooms are dirty and old. We ordered fajitas and they are the worse we have ever had!! Bland, small, and expensive!! Came here after a day at the beach...it was a great day until our food arrived. The waitress put the utensils towards the middle of the table and when I reached to grab it my arm touched the copper handle of my skillet. You don't go to a restaurant thinking that you are going to have a horrible burn. And anyone who has had burns knows the pain. It took my hunger away. The waitress just said that she's gotten them before and disregarded my pain because she's gotten burnt before!? Not only did my arm get burned with a blister forming, it ruined my whole day, ohh and cost me $50.00. The waitress tried her best to NOT attend our table because every time I asked for something she would come back without it and had to be reminded. After today...I will never be back to this place. If you are looking for a great happy hour spot, this is the place!! Happy hour is EVERYDAY! I believe the hours are from 4-7. I dont remember the exact prices but beers and margaritas are under $3!! During the summer there is street fair right in front of the restaurant. So you can get your drink on then walk the street fair and listen to music. The food is just ok but their micheladas are really good! And let's be honest, I'll take ok food for a great happy hour! They also give complimentary chips, salsa and bean dip. There is an outdoor patio that is enclosed when it's cold. Perfect for bug groups. There are TVs in both the bar area and outdoor patio. There is also a bar in the patio which is super convenient. They have karaoke outside as well although I dont know the exact hours for when they do karaoke. Overall, it's a cool spot. My parents and I have been coming here since 2009. I found this place through yelp. It has gotten its popularity but that doesn't mean they should act like we don't matter! We are a party of 6. Upon arrival, our server (a skinny lady with black hair) basically kicked us out. She was taking our order and rushed us by saying "apúrenle antes de que llegue la gente" translates to "hurry before the crowd comes" the whole time we felt rushed to finish. BEWARE! Becareful when you pay for your meal here. They like to add there own tip without your consent. Look closely at your receipt down at the bottom under order total. I even left an extra $13 tip on the table because i didnt notice until i got home and took a look at the receipt. I felt robbed so i called and confronted them and they didnt even apologize instead the so called manager who said his name was Cesar said its my fault for not checking my receipt prior to leaving and hung up on me.
