We took our Double Doodle YANI after he collapsed in Wakefield on May 6-7 It was around 6 pm They came out to the car and brought him in Dr Makayla Risch was the first Dr we saw she was incredibly compassionate and calming and explained all medical procedures she was also direct and honest Re Yani's needs and finances Kelly was at the desk she had pizza for us and snacks and the kindness we needed. We felt so vulnerable and incredibly sad esp with diagnosis of hemangiomasarcoma the most aggressive form of Cancer and fairly common in goldens and labs even with surgery we'd be lucky to have him through the summer Drs Rovan and Bishop we then saw as we were there 12 hrs They watched him after surgery and were in on the surgery and when we returned to pick him up we had more questions again they were so patient so loving towards YANI and Janine she worked overnight so when we left at 3 we knew she'd watch over him One of the things that stood out was how well the ?10 maybe more people worked together they were efficient professional and very skilled and as a bonus they were and are truly kind fun people I also called them a few times and again they answered all questions To end this I wish I could stay in this positive light but In spite of all our best efforts we couldn't keep YANI with us He collapsed again and this time we knew he had enough He passed peacefully in our arms on June 17 at a 24 hr vets in Dennis Ma My Husb Allan and I want to say Thank You for all your efforts and kindness We definitely recommend you to everyone I'm hoping we never have to go through anything like that again but if we have a need VEG in Newton Ma is where we will go This group is amazing if you have an emergency don't hesitate to go to VEG read more

Instead of giving our 3 year old family dog charcoal for chocolate poisoning that would have saved her life she gave fluids and sent her home.. the dog suffered and died the next day . Every time I have come here I've had a fantastic experience. The team here is quick, caring, cautious, and truly are the best I've ever brought my pup to; with an accident prone dog, that's saying A LOT. Our first visit to VEG was to address a curious scavenging into a house guests THC gummies. Though my pup never would have noticed, the team took excellent care of him, and was so understanding of his dribbles training all over the place. They were attentive, and though very busy with several other patients having much more serious issues, they still monitored him and had us stay as long as I wanted so that I would know he would be ok. What my wonderful home vet said would be an overnight admittance to a hospital, was skillfully cut short; we were there for about 2 hours. Today, my pup split his dew claw and I called to see if that was even considered an emergency. The kind lady informed me that yes there's a risk of infection so he should come in. I told the team we act very excited at the vet to encourage him and because somehow he still loves the vet at 2. Everyone was SO sweet and excited with him. He was a little nervous so about 7 or 8 vets/techs were giving him attention and comforting him. He was scared but everyone's input kept his tail wagging the entire time- EVEN WHEN THEY CLIPPED OFF THE NAIL. He was so happy the whole time, I am so grateful for the caring staff who cared about a broken nail as much as an emergency surgery. Everything was explained to me, all my questions answered, and only took about 10 min. I also appreciate how clean it is, and how minimal they keep their care cost wise. No tacking on extras or unnecessary expenses for the sake of it. $200 visit fee, numbing cream, antibiotics and pain meds came out to $278. Incredible. Hope not to be back, but know I likely will be! My pup and I saw Dr Rothstein at the Clinton, NJ location. She was so nurturing and took amazing care of us. Her team was helpful and calmed a nervous dog-mommy down. They reviewed Leo's blood work on site and provided an updated within a VERY reasonable amount of time. And luckily, even with Covid, I was able to come in (socially distant w/a mask). My sister and I called before going to see if they would be able to see our dog as he has been involved in a dog fight. The person we spoke to sounded very kind and understanding and suggested we go to the clinic and see them. Although it was around 12am, we were greeted very warmly. There was coffee, tea, water, and carbonated drinks available. We were asked if we wanted any snacks while we waited. It was quite busy but our dog was seen attentively. We were checked in, and were waiting in a separate open room. We were able to see how many visitors were ahead of us as they had a sceeen available. The Veterinarian was very hospitable and explained what our next steps should be clearly. Overall, this has been one of the best experiences I have had at a Veterinarian Clinic. we needed a vet to see my sons dog, peanut, (from New York) the day after thanksgiving. It wasn't exactly an emergency -- just a case of conjunctivitis -- but I didn't want it to spread to our other dogs. Not one vet in the area, included my own my vet own, would see him. I get it... it wasn't exactly urgent. We were the only ones there at 2pm.; we counted 8 staff and 2 pet patients in back. Two and a half hours later the vet examined Peanut in the waiting lobby area. "It looks like conjunctivitis" the vet said, and then went on to text us an estimate for what should have been simple eye drops + whatever the cost of the visit was. We received a text for $420! It included a plastic "lampshade" for $50 (so she wouldn't scratch), $50 for probiotics (in case dog had diarrhea) and other ridiculous unnecessary charges. Beware this urgent care. Their method of inflating what you will pay is questionably unethical. I get it that they can charge whatever they want. You are vulnerable during an emergency and the practice knows it. They upsell the bill, take advantage of pet owners who will pay whatever they are told by virtue of walking through the door. Despicable Necessary go to angel or blue pearl instead read more

they were fantastic with my little guy, and with us. They did all they could, and were so understanding. We lost by little guy, but there was nothing at that point that anyone could do. The people there were great. I was there with him for the better part of 48 hours, and was able to stay with him through everything. I will keep using them. It is always emotional when you have to bring your pet to the ER. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted. Filling out the paperwork was easy and fast. We were called back within minutes. The Vet Tech was thoughtful and knowledgeable. The doctor was amazing. She did a thorough examination and gave us time to discuss how we wanted to proceed. My dog, Shamus, was 14 and not well. I felt it was in his best interest to put him to sleep. Once we made that choice the process moved quickly. We were able to stay with him until he passed over the rainbow. The staff asked what we wanted for arrangements. They took care of everything. When he arrived in the mail, I opened the box and inside was a plaster of his paw print. A very unexpected, but welcomed surprised. The idea to stay with your pet is wonderful. The idea that everyone will stay with their pet in one moderate sized open space with no barriers and no doors is horribly dangerous. Plus, easy access to road. Cats, dogs, and other pets with only the owner holding them is just unsafe. Vets are as distracted as the animals. It seemed that a Vet got a patient animal confused. And one little patient was on the floor trying to get away from the Vet, scared when another patient tried to walk by with owner stepping over Vets legs .. it was about then when we said we need a different situation. Prices are very high. We paid. You do have to pay up front before they do anything. They do not start care before they know your name as advertised. They are all about money! They work up how much cash they need and collect the money before they start care. After collecting our money, we found out they were not equipped for our animal (why didn't they know that on the phone? or time of estimate?). We then went home and found a true ER. They wanted to redo most of the test and that was expensive but a good thing in the end. When we tried to address this we were told that no one at that office could do anything for us. So, true. And what then? If your animal has a true emergency go to a true ER. We were told this is a chain and the Vet work on a commission????? read more

I know that literally walk in emergencies emergencies are treated with priority but there's was a moment where I felt that they literally where working slower but at the same time I know they were busy but 5 hours is a LOT of time. Waited 3 hours for my dog with a swollen eye. There were 3 other sick dogs waiting as well. We saw 5 pets walk out but did not see any pets go in to be seen. After about 3 hours, this woman and her puppy came and were seen right away. The front desk informed us it was a friends dog who had a seizure prior to arriving so that's why they got to cut the line. (My dog has had a seizure in the past and also had to wait) After that we left and decided to go to angell. I did not go in the back so I do not know if anything happened that would've caused the 3 hour wait, and the front desk staff was very kind and understanding of our frustration. But the friends dog being prioritized is what made us leave. It seems like this place was mismanaged that night. I'm giving the second star for the woman who was behind the desk when I left. read more

This vet is open 24/7 and can get you in when no one else can. The staff is amazing. They are patient, caring, thorough and thoughtful. Our dog was in extremely good bad shape and they took him in and let us know what was happening , what it would cost and what they could do. Thank you so much! The facility was clean and did I mention how attentive the staff was? I had never been to that area so parking was just something I had to find (not their fault) since GPS takes you to the grocery store lot next door. It was pitch black, cold, and a frantic night but you all made it all better. Only note I would recommend is to show upfront costs so surprises arent done when it's time to pay because obviously these visits are always pretty big bills. The doctor went over price in the end so hoping at least the flat rate $175 doctor consultation fee is told in the beginning of the visit since that appears to be the norm -- understanding that all other a la carte services are custom to your animal's need. I couldn't be happier with the service at Veterinary Emergency Group. A few weeks ago, my dog, Bruno, ran off our deck steps and hurt his back foot. We rushed him to our vet and discovered that he broke his metatarsal. We were referred to the team at VEG to help us set the splint. When I arrived at the VEG, I entered a clean, bright facility, and several smiling faces welcomed us into the back immediately. There was no wait time. I was able to sit with Bruno the entire time, and the team walked me through the procedure and answered any questions I had. They treated Bruno like he was their own, and gave him all the love and attention he needed. I was so impressed. The next day I had a question about the medication, and when I called VEG they put me through to the doctor immediately. What's more, she followed up via text the next day to see how Bruno was doing and whether he was adjusted to the medication okay. 3 weeks ago my best friend, Jake our 7yr old lab, was not feeling well and needed to be seen urgently! I found V.E.G in Newton and called for information, they told us to bring Jake in ASAP and he would be seen. I thought waiting in an emergency room would eat up our entire day. Well we were wrong, he was seen in 15 minutes of check in. Sadly the news they had for us was not good and we were looking at the end of Jake's life. We decided we would take him home and make him as comfortable as possible. V.E.G. gave us all we needed to make him as comfortable at home as we could. Unfortunately, our time together was much shorter than we thought we would have, 5 days later we had to make the worst decision of our lives. Again we turned to V.E.G. For help and they were right there waiting. Everything was on our time, they said come when your ready we'll be here for you. When we arrived we were brought straight in to a room and offered refreshments, all paperwork was completed so we wouldn't have to stop at the front desk on check out. Finally when we knew it was time the Vet came in and quietly administered the meds and left us to mourn our loss for as long as we needed. I cannot say enough about the staff at V.E.G and anyone I know with a pet that this is the place to go when your loved one needs attention Thank you for all you did for my baby!!! read more

Went there today and I was very disappointed. They were very quick to give me an estimate of the cost; the plan was to obtain labs, sedate my dog and take her in for X-rays. For 2 hours every pet that came through the door or was being discharged home became a priority. Some pets came after we arrived and left while we waited. We were then approached by a staff member to let us know that we would have to wait an additional .45 minutes as another doctor was coming in at 6:00PM. Meanwhile some staff had already left because their shift was over. I am now at another Vet hospital and praying that my baby did not suffer internal damage. This Vet Hospital appears to have knowledgeable and responsible staff and soon we will have an answer. read more

The only word I can think of to describe the staff here is angels. People have negative things to say about the young staff however I found them to be passionate, real, educated, and more. the young nurses i had taking care of my pet were talking with me trying to distract me because i am awful with medical stuff. they did an amazing job at making me feel like all these things were normal, which they were. when they sedated my pet they let me hold her which someone else's said they didn't like that. if i didn't want to hold my pet, i could've asked she be put in a cage. they have plenty of blankets, and towels they use to make little beds in the cages. i chose to hold my pet. I liked having the choice. Also the same person who said that also said they didn't like how it was one open area for everyone. they do have private rooms, but this is an emergency room. its trauma. it's assessing, treating, and medicating as fast as possible. these staff have to communicate quickly and it's a good open floor plan. it's something scary if you're not used to it, but i see how it's necessary. everybody did an amazing job and my pet is at home and better than ever. thank you all so much. read more

We were charged $1600 for an incorrect diagnosis. They diagnosed a urinary track infection which proved false visiting our regular vet - my dog just hurt his neck. In the meantime, they started the examination with all the expensive tests like x-ray and sonogram (vet had a difficult time using the equipment) which showed nothing - my dog did not swallow anything which I told them this. At the end, they had to draw blood twice and one of the vet technicians took a selfie while collecting urine because it was her first successful attempt doing this. Since this is a teaching hospital, you get a veterinarian in training. She did not know how to diagnose the issue but I have to pay for her training on my dog. I wish I went a couple of miles more to Boston West in Natick or MSPCA in Waltham for experienced staff and a lot less expense. read more

My dog Simba was diagnosed by his regular vet with a splenic mass and internal bleeding on Monday 6/28 and they referred us to tufts. I called tufts and they turned us away and referred us here, this place has been amazing! I called to make sure they could see us, I spoke with a vet who gathered info on what was going on & even checked to see if they had blood on hand incase Simba needed a blood transfusion. She told us to come right down. So we went and got Simba from his reg vet and headed straight there. When we arrived they took us right in and a vet, Dr Benge started examining Simba. They put us into an exam room so we could talk about our options and Simba's prognosis. We meet with Dr Krone & Dr Benge, Who went over every thing down to the last detail. We decided to go forward with surgery since he was bleeding into his belly and probably would have not made it. They worked with us on the cost as well. They prepped Simba for surgery and we were able to stay right by his side until they had put him under. They even told me I could come back and spend the night with Simba if I wanted too. They Called as soon as he was out of surgery, to let us know how everything went & how he was doing, And called anytime there was a change. He was there until Wednesday 6/30. We were able to visit with him and spend over 2 hours with Simba on Tuesday night. He had his own room with a bed and blankets and not in a crate. They said even all the techs were laying and snuggling with him. Dr Krone& Dr Benge who did the surgery were amazing and Dr Kennedy who did some of his post-op care and all the staff were awesome! They took care of Simba like he was their own pet. This is my new go to emergency vet! They were truly amazing and we will be forever grateful to the entire staff. read more
