I found Perfect Paws from a Google search. I had a private training session with Amanda and my 4-year-old cocker spaniel. We learned so much in 60 minutes! We stayed in my neighborhood because my dog is familiar with the area. I learned a few techniques that are easy to practice and I can already tell my pup is catching on! From filling out the intake forms to the end of the lesson, our experience was great. Looking forward to booking another lesson in the future. read more

If I could give 6 stars I would! As a new puppy mom, I was so nervous about where to send my little guy for daycare. I found out about perfect paws by visiting the Newton dog parks and I got to know some of the trainers. Janie was so helpful in getting Hunny onboarded and he absolutely loves daycare. I even take him on his off days just so he can see his fr Amanda and Tracy are such amazing trainers and dog lovers!! I can't say enough great things about perfect paws and their staff. Hunnys second home for sure!!! read more

Janine is awesome with me, my family and my dog. I decided to go with one on one training. She based our time together on what I needed help with. She encouraged my daughter to be more involved with our dog through play. She is even available to me via text or phone when I needed her help. There are a lot of dog trainers out there but I'm glad I choose perfect paws and would recommend them to others! read more

We love perfect Paws! I reached out to Janie about over a month ago about training our 1 year old golden retriever Bow. He needed obedience training and had issues jumping and pulling on the leash. I am so happy we found her. She has been working with bow for the month of February and I have seen such a change in my dog. He loves to go to doggy daycare and train and play. He come home exhausted after playing with his friends. He is doing so much better listening, staying, and sitting. He no longer jumps on me when I bring him on walks. The icing on the cake is that Janie offers a pick up/ drop off service for day care. We are more than pleased and so grateful we found this place! Highly recommend! read more

We love Perfect Paws! We had our first private training session last week and had a great experience. Janie was patient and friendly with our 4 month old puppy. We had the option of training in her large fenced area, where our pup felt safe & had the best time playing/learning. We can already see a difference from doing 2 days of training "homework" with our pup :) Can't wait to continue our lessons! Thanks Janie! read more

Five Stars! We booked the three one hour sessions package with Janie and could not be happier!! Not only she's a dogs' whisperer, really understands dogs and can effectively teach you all the pro training techniques, she's also a "family whisperer!" She was amazing with our entire family! She was able to quickly grasp everyone's personality and effectively adapt to give each person (we're four) the tools and confidence they needed so we could collectively and collaboratively train our dog when at home. Her dog training skills and people's skills are superb. We're all so thankful we found Janie and Perfect Paws. Highly recommend! read more

I learned about Perfect Paws from a neighbor who raved about sending their dog to boarding - something I always dread, so it caught my attention! This friend shared that their pup returns home better behaved than when they leave him, since Perfect Paws offers training, in addition to boarding. We recently added a new dog to our family and have been working with Janie on training the new puppy, and getting pointers on helping our older dog accept her new companion. Janie is extremely knowledgable and has helped us address issues via a variety of creative approaches. She understands the personalities/motivations of our dogs and caters to their individual strengths and challenges. Janie is excellent at teaching dog training. She clearly explains a target goal based on our unique needs, demonstrates how to communicate it to the dogs, observes technique, and then gently corrects and makes suggestions for greater success for both me and ultimately my dogs. Our individual training with her has made for a much more harmonious first year with our boisterous and energetic new dog. We have also recently enrolled our dog in play group two afternoons a week, and it has been a real game changer in terms of having more time to get my work done and having a tired, fulfilled and happy pup to come home to. I would highly recommend working with the team at Perfect Paws! read more

Rude and poorly responsive. Poor communications. Poor customer service. Not sure about the positive reviews; may be I'm missing something

Perfect Paws is terrific! The staff is loving and caring towards the dogs (and us!). Our 2 Wheaten Terriers have gone to daily daycare and they come home happy, socialized and exhausted. We have used the boarding and training services for over a year now with huge success. They have real knowledge on dog behaviors and temperament. We trust the staff with our fur babies. We recommend Janie Hagopian and her team as a business that is both professional and loving. read more

We really love Perfect Paws! Our Cavalier King Charles Addie has been going for small dog daycare and boarding since we moved to Newton 3 years ago. Janie and her team treat her like family and Addie is always excited when they arrive to pick her up. Janie is always available for advice and gives me tips and even has helped me find other services for Addie. When Addie was boarding while on a medicine which was a little tough for her tummy Perfect Paws even made chicken and rice for her everyday. It is wonderful to have full confidence our dog is being treated lovingly when away from us. That seems tough to find with dog care and we feel lucky to have found Perfect Paws! read more

We love Perfect Paws!! Our Bernedoodle, Leo, has been with Janie at Perfect Paws since he was a pup and he absolutely loves it and so do we. Leo goes for daycare and also receives training at Perfect Paws. I can't say enough about Janie and her team. They are knowledgable, very responsive, incredibly loving with the dogs and just wonderful to work with. Leo literally runs to the car when his ride comes in the morning! He loves everyone there and they are like family to him and we can't recommend them highly enough. read more

Janie was great with my dog. She was very patient and understanding. I honestly was surprised to see how my dog opened up so quickly which was great because she in a rescue dog and typically she is very shy. Overall my experience was amazing and I can't wait to see my dog improve with her training! read more

We ordered a paw perfect last May 2020 and after almost 4 weeks no delivery has been made yet. When we check on the website "customerstatus.com" it says "temporarily out of stock". Why would they continue to advertise and take orders when they cannot deliver. Looks like a scam. read more

Katie at Perfect Paws did more than just teach an old dog new tricks! After rescuing an incredible older dog who seemed well trained, but didn't seem to respond anything I did, Katie rescued me! She took us back to the basics and got me and the dog on the same page. After 3 sessions of discovering the differences in two owners interacting with the dog and what worked for the dog, we've now been able to expand upon it and she just keeps on eagerly learning more. My dog is a dream companion, thanks to Perfect Paws. read more

The Perfect Paws team are really terrific. My year old puppy needed to have some exercise and an opportunity to play with other dogs. Perfect Paws to the rescue. They separate the dogs by size/behavior and they get to play play play! My dog comes home dirty and tired ( and a report card is provided)- a dog's dream day. All the employees are friendly and professional and all the dogs have fun. What more could you ask! read more

Just enrolled my dog in daycare at Perfect Paws. Janie is great, I met her and the outdoor doggy daycare staff for 30 minutes during a Meet and Greet. They do all sorts of training with the dogs while they are there, as well as divide them up by size and/or temperament. Also, if you live in Newton they pick your furry friend up for free, which is super helpful while I am gone at work. If you are looking for dog daycare for your pet, definitely check this place out! read more

Our 1.5 year old puppy has been testing boundaries with us and dog walkers. We searched for a dog trainer to help us and are so happy that we found Janie! She wanted to know what has been hard for us with our dog and validated the work that we have done so far. She gave us concrete steps and had us practice those while giving feedback. Janie is kind, patient and helpful - the perfect coach! We definitely would recommend her. read more

My girlfriend and I recently adopted a 5 year old dog and were struggling to fix his leash behavior (pulling and barking at other dogs). We did a session with Janie where she gave recommendations on the type of harness to use to get the most out of each walk with our dog as well as explaining the methods we should be using to help curb these behaviors. She was very good at breaking down why we should be doing each motion in terms of how the dog is thinking. By then end of the first hour our dog had seen marked improvement and we left with the set of skills to keep him improving. Additionally, she was very polite and professional and you can tell she really cares about the wellbeing of dogs. We didn't do the daycare only the hour training session but we met at the facility they use for the daycare and it was very clean and well-constructed. I would definitely recommend a session with Janie and now were looking into the daycare sessions as well. read more

I knew Janie before I got a dog and was greatly impressed with her professionalism and love of dogs. I also had her recommended to me by other friends who had used her to train their puppy. I knew when I got a puppy, Perfect Paws would be the place for us! It is. Janie knows, understands and loves dogs. I now have my pup in her daycare and playgroup. Janie has also done individual trainings with us and the puppy, and it has made all the difference! I totally trust Janie and her wonderful staff! Totally recommend! read more

We are first time dog owners and SO incredibly glad we found Perfect Paws. We first met owner Janie when she came to our home for a consult. She packed hours worth of insight into a 60min visit! A dog whisperer for sure. We then signed our puppy up for doggy daycare 3x/wk and it has been transformational for him (and us!) They pick up and drop off your dog in their van - everyone who works there is so friendly, knowledgeable and loving - and they mix training into the playtime. It doesn't get much better than that! And given how much our dog now loves Janie, she was the obvious choice for our first boarding experience. Basically a 4-day play date with Janie and her dogs in her home. Heaven! Perfect Paws gives us SUCH peace of mind - HIGHLY recommend! read more

I'm so happy I found Perfect Paws, they have been amazing! Janie, the owner went above and beyond to ensure the best boarding scenario for my 8 month old Golden Retriever, Gracie. She arranged to have Gracie stay with one of the Perfect Paws employees who has been amazing and so caring providing regular updates via email and even sending me pictures. Having piece of mind while traveling or at work knowing your dog is in good hands is the best. I highly recommend Perfect Paws! read more

I have been a dog person for 60 years. During that time I have raised many, many dogs, including a 20 year stint of caring for rescue Doberman Pinchers. During all that time, I have never met a more professionally run or caring group of people than those at Perfect Paws. I strongly recommend that you consider this group. I am a very happy client. We've been a customer at Perfect Paws for over 3 years and I can't say enough about this doggie daycare and training service. Janie and her staff are wonderful and care for the dogs like they're their own. The pet taxi service is the best, and Janie and her team are reliable and attentive to the dogs' needs. And they have their own fenced in park, which is great. My dog is excited to go to daycare in the mornings and happy and exhausted when he comes home . . . what more could I ask for? read more

We were struggling with our 11 mos cocker spaniel with constant barking when anyone entered the house as well as his fear of people in general. The owner of Perfect Paws Janie, and one of her trainers came to the house and we had an hour session with them. She is definitely very knowledgeable in this field and has the patience to work with anxious dogs. I would highly recommend her services! Outstanding! read more

Perfect Paws is the perfect place for our dog for both day care and at home boarding when we are away. The personal time and attention Perfect Paws staff has taken to get to know both our dog and our family is unmatched. We love Perfect Paws. We have been a regular customer for 7 years now and have used a number of services over the years - playgroups, overnights, and now daycare to help our puppy burn off some energy during the week. PP takes care of pick up and drop off, which keeps things simple. They incorporate training into their daily schedule and send home a report each day. Our dogs bubble over with happiness when their ride arrives in the mornings and they come home tuckered out and content. Janie the owner is great to work with, and her team is universally friendly and reliable. read more

Such a kind and loving place for our dog. Janie, the owner, is very careful and diligent in screening, selecting and training staff. And the human:dog ratio is kept at a reasonable level. Plus small dogs and big dogs have separate areas. In addition, PP is very good at arranging boarding either at our home, or at an employee's home, when we need it for short or extended periods. The cost is reasonable, and the pet pickup and dropoff is so helpful. Very trustworthy organization; we recommend it very highly. "A tired dog is a happy dog," and our dog comes home tired from a day of fun. read more

I did not have the opportunity to get to know Perfect Paws. I am impressed by the reviews and see smiling dog faces in the pictures. We were blown away by the hoops we were asked to go through before even getting there. I completed the application form and sent all medical records within one hour. I was told to place both documents in the same email. We did this 3-4 times upon repeated request (not understanding why we were being asked the same thing over and over). I was told "there are several emails from you, can you just do it again and send them both again (repeatedly). Done (again??). Then Janie said "Can you merge your vets medical files and our application form in one document for me ..then we will be all set." I said "You want me to merge two PDF files for you?" "Yes." she said and continued "I can only upload one document at a time and need all of your information in one place so need you to merge your vets medical documents with our application form" ...isn't this something one's BUSINESS should do? I explained that would require either a scanner and app to save all scanned docs electronically in one file which I did not have, or adobe acrobat which I did not have. She stated "I"m sorry you're having trouble. Just do this one thing and we'll be all set." I thought I must not be understanding ..or it must be a joke or a show like PUNKED by Ashton Kutcher. A business would never ask such a thing from a customer ..I had to be mistaken! Sigh. The vibe of course was ..any business who would expect a customer to go so far for their own bookkeeping...doesn't care so much about the customer. Was all of that for real? read more

Our dog Luna has been doing to Perfect Paws since a few weeks after we adopted her almost a year ago. She loves going to Perfect Paws. It's the only activity that involves being separated from us where she gladly runs out the door! Even if we're home during pick-up and she's usually very attached to us. The fact that they pick-up at the house is SO convenient; it allows me to bike to work for exercise when I go into the office, since I don't need to drop her somewhere like most day cares. I think the 2x per week small group socialization and training with Perfect Paws has played a big role in Luna's blossoming into a very well-rounded lady. We do put in a lot of work too, multiple formal obedience classes, so it's not an out for training your dog! But when we first got her, it would take her a while to read other dogs (if and how they want to play) and she's so good at her interactions with dogs of all personalities now. I really think the experience and consistency of her Perfect Paws has been phenomenal for her development! They post pictures on Facebook if you go look for them - sometimes I wish more were posted - but that's OK. I just miss my Luna when I have to go to the office. :) read more

I had a very good experience with one-on-one training for my now 5 month old puppy. Training was with Katie and took place at my house. Katie was very nice and very knowledgable about dogs and dog training. She was able to suggest many helpful products/treats etc. I also appreciated that Katie respected how I wanted to approach training. Some things we worked on in training were: potty training, leash walking, sit, stay, come, paw, lay down. My dog hadn't had any other type of training so he really needed to learn the basics. We had 5 training sessions over 6 weeks and I definitely saw improvements in his behavior. Had I taken more time to practice commands with him throughout the week, I think I would have seen even more improvements! It's definitely true that your dog will only get out as much as you're willing to give during training. I am glad we used Perfect Paws and started with this individual training. I plan to see how his behaviors evolve and to continue to use the skills I learned to train him on my own. At some point, I may want to do more training if he is still struggling with any of the tougher aspects of training (i.e. barking). I may want to do group-training for more socialization for him and with the added aspect of distractions from other dogs being helpful in terms of training. If Perfect Paws offers group training, I will definitely continue with them! read more
