After a week of no sleep and…read moreconstant stress and some tears, the *MOST WONDERFUL* dog trainer came by and showed me some skills and helped me figure stuff out. I feel like I'm working with my puppy now instead of fighting against him. Absolutely the best thing I've done since getting my wonderful puppy is contacting Active Paws. Cara, you saved my sanity. He's ALREADY doing so much better it's WILD honestly. Puppy photo included just because LOOKIT HIM. To be more specific: Cara made the core concepts behind training my dog very easy to understand, provided me with references for when I get stressed and forget, and left me feeling empowered to have a fantastic relationship with my dog.

The ongoing pandemic made contacting trainers/organizations and coordinating the initial meeting…read moretricky especially with the pet adoption boom. I admittedly got my hopes up when I saw Active Paws business given her numerous qualifications even in agility work and immediate availability to schedule a session immediately over the summer. Her rates started at $120/hour which seemed standard after also conferring with other personal dog trainer contacts. As you can tell by the low rating the stars did not align as a mutual fit. The website was easy to navigate and Cara the owner was very responsive. You can easily schedule an appointment on there for personalized training. Perhaps we didn't pick a neutral enough location now knowing what we know now (after finding on site in person group puppy classes) to set our pup up for success over the summer at 3.5 months old and 20 lbs. Unfortunately Cara came up to our back deck which may have been interpreted as an interloper encroaching on her territory so as a puppy with bad manners she barked incessantly. She threw some small pieces of mozzarella cheese that didn't interest the pup (we are realizing now she's not super food motivated). That "reactive" behavior was enough to confirm to Cara after a serious bite earlier in the week to "pass" on training our dog. We still got the folder with pamphlets, and branded pen and clicker as she quickly retreated. Maybe in retrospect we should have met up at a park instead of our property. Granted this was the reaction that our puppy has when uncertain in greeting most new people but once she sniffs them she calms down quickly once she sees that we are friendly with them. The damage was done. Cara immediately followed up through email with an apology and a couple links to other (more expensive) trainers, one of whose website wasn't even working. I flutily attempted to reach out but also received no response so those were dead ends too. As for the socialization aspect she recommended a place all the way down in Franklin, and the MSPCA Angell which was not operational or equipped to respond during the pandemic (over the summer). Of course this experience left me completely demoralized and slightly jaded. I sometimes see their branded vehicles parked at the Dog Ranch area and walkers taking dogs around there to go walking. Thankfully we were able to enroll her in puppy daycare and now start some group training classes I alluded to earlier at the beginning of this year for adolescent pups. Funny enough she's now one of the least reactive dogs in her classes.

He has snapped, growled, and shook nervously with previous groomers and stylists, but with Jasmine she has such an amazing way with animals with her calm demeanor and kindness and does an AMAZING job grooming our pet!!! We are also picky about the cut too since our pom has sensitive areas, and his places where he has to be super sanitary. She remembers all our requests and never fails to amaze us with her awesome job!!! Best part was he used to hate going to places like this literally shaking of fear, but everytime I pick him up after his cut with Jasmine he's always super happy running around, getting hugged, and playing around with the staff and other dogs (almost like he doesn't want to go home)!!! This to me is soo priceless!!! So after picking up our pom today with an amazing cut! I had a chance to chat with the staff and she was also very, very kind, and loved our pet (and explaining how well he behaved), and also very knowledgeable about the treats they offered in the shop! Overall experience 10/10, highly recommend this personalized, high customer service, knowledgeable pet boutique to everyone!!! Sadly, we recently suffered a death in our family and inherited two cats--Rocky, who is 10, and Wall-E, who is 8 months old. Since Wall-E needed to be neutered, a dear friend recommended Kindness Animal Hospital, and we are so thankful they did. From the very first phone call, when we spoke with Brenda and explained our story, we were met with nothing but kindness, compassion, and understanding. It meant more to us than she probably realizes. Dr. Rosenblatt examined both of our newly adopted fur babies and helped us get Wall-E scheduled for his neutering at just the right time. Sam and everyone else on the staff made us feel so welcome. You can tell they genuinely love animals, and that love carries over to the people who walk through their doors, too. The care our boys received was exceptional, and we were also so appreciative that it was affordable. During a difficult time for our family, everyone at Kindness made something that could have been stressful feel easy. We can't recommend Kindness Animal Hospital enough. They truly live up to their name. When you walk through their doors, you're treated with kindness, compassion, and respect, and your pets are treated like family. Thank you, Dr. Rosenblatt, Brenda, Sam, and the entire Kindness family for taking such wonderful care of Rocky, Wall-E, and us. We are so grateful. With love, Rudy, Eva, Rocky & Wall-E

We are incredibly grateful to Pampered Puppies for going above and beyond in caring for our corgi…read morepuppy, Hank. We had tried a couple other establishments for puppy daycare and training, but it wasn't until we arrived at Pampered Pups that we found a second home. First of all, William is the most incredible trainer there is. We signed up for a 5-pack of private lessons at our home, and they have transformed our relationship with our puppy. He taught us how to communicate with Hank and teach him in a way that is loving and patient. Now, Hank responds to "come!" whenever called - even if there is a bunny he's chasing! And William helped us get him fully potty trained, for which my rugs are eternally thankful. Plus sit, stay, and a whole slew of words that enable us to communicate effectively. It is so helpful to have someone come to your space, practice inside and outside, and give you the tips needed to continue to work on for 10-15 minutes a day. After two months, Hank is a whole new pup! And we all love each other more now that we can communicate and understand each other. Onto the puppy daycare, which we incorporated next. The whole space is so incredibly nice and looks (and smells!) refreshing. It's very spacious and designed with great care. Each daycare room (one for large dogs and one for smaller dogs) is bright and cheerful. The team is calm and manages all the energy very well. Hank is always stoked to go to daycare and happily exhausted when he comes home. You can tell that the owners, Michael and Kim, custom designed the space with care. Their office overlooks the small dog room and has giant windows all around. And they truly take time to know their dogs - who likes to play with whom, who prefers to chase or play ball. Their online platform for booking is also incredibly easy to use! And, saving the best for last, there is Alexis, who mans the front desk and seems to be everywhere at once. She is a font of wisdom about puppy nutrition and care. I've seen her leap into action when a bigger dog got too rambunctious. And, she went above and beyond by identifying a tooth problem that Hank was struggling with, unbeknownst to us. She even helped us capture a video to show his vet. We and Hank are incredibly grateful that she takes the time to know what's going on with each pup! Pampered Puppies is the whole package. Highly recommend for training, daycare, and general care!
